@HLK208: sounds like that wasn't the greatest doctor, I'm sorry =( I would think they'd want to heck you given the amount of contractions!

@HLK208: What?! That's craziness. At this stage in the game it's super easy to find the heartbeat! How surprising and scary. I would've been freaking out. And I'm annoyed she wouldn't check you!

  3. HLK208

@coopsmama: right? And baby wasn't moving either so I was terrified. A friend of mine lost her son at 37 weeks (found out at her check up, when they checked for the heartbeat and then did an ultrasound) so that was in the back of my mind.

But! At least she found it! I thought for sure they would send me for an ultrasound since it was taking so long.

@HLK208: it's from Gymboree, but I bought it back in November 2012 for my oldest, so it's probably not available in stores anymore.

It's JULY friends! Finally! The month most of (hopefully all...I'd hate for anyone to have to wait until August!) us will meet our sweet babies! We're almost DONE!

@coopsmama: yayyyyy!!!! I'm one of those who seriously thought July would never get here! Pregnancy has been slow for me!

So excited for our month!! Now keep on arriving babies!

@runnerd: I think there is nothing wrong with excessive exclamation point usage in this context!

Ahhhh looking at that due date list, I'm pretty sure half the month is gonna go before I do so would you all get on it?! Seriously though - labor feels so far away! I had painful contractions for several hours last night and I just knew they weren't the real deal. DH kept looking at my contracted belly and kept saying "maybe we'll have a baby tomorrow?!?" But I knew better! Sigh. She'll probably come this weekend - conveniently when my IL's roll back into town. Haha!

Wow I haven't been on here in so long! Hope you all are doing well!

@runnerd: I sure will! My due date was actually changed to July 6, so I'm pretty close! We are very excited to meet our baby boy OR girl :).

Eek! Can't believe it's July! So ready to meet this little guy! Just hoping I don't have to wait until 41+ weeks!

And excessive exclamation point usage is totally appropriate

@HLK208: Ugh, sorry you had such a scare but glad she finally found the heartbeat! I'm also surprised by the lack of a check, based on your contractions you'd think they'd want to.

@coopsmama: OMG, so much relief knowing it's July! I'm due towards the end of the month but not gonna lie I'm gonna be really unhappy if I don't go until August. Sounds terrible at this point.

    @runnerd: yay for exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe we are having babies THIS MONTH! Really want this girl to come soon, but I'm thinking it's going to be at least two weeks =(

Had my first cervical check at the doctors this morning. Holy uncomfortableness. I'm 2cm 70% effaced. Not sure that means a whole lot, but the doctor seemed to think it was good news.

  15. Mrs. Cookie

    blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts

@lauraeabel: I know, they say it doesn't mean much but if I were you I'd be excited about that! Cause some people contract for days/hours and are only at a one when they first get checked (based on the many birth stories I've devoured, haha). Are you having contractions?

@runnerd: I realized I never had you change my due date, I'm actually due on July 25th now (not the 27th), which at first I was like, "I want to keep my charting due date because I worked so hard to pinpoint conception" but now I'm like, the earlier one is clearly the better one! And that's based on many ultrasounds at this point. No need to change it right away, just fyi! Thanks!

  16. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@lauraeabel: I don't think it means a whole lot in terms of when you'll go into labor (my cousin was at 4cm and good effacement for a whole MONTH! ) but I think it's awesome to know your body is preparing appropriately and that induction is unlikely unless medically necessary!

39+3 here and time is dragging on ever so slowly...

  18. cookiemomster

    kiwi / 714 posts

@princessandthebee: I'm trying to be excited but I don't want to get my hopes up. I'm seriously so miserable- my back problems are coming back, and I'm just in a lot of pain. As for contractions, I had a bunch of Braxton Hicks/what felt like random contractions yesterday while we were helping my BIL move, so I don't know if the activity caused them to be more consistent or if I'm just getting to the point where I'm going to be having them a lot more.

@coopsmama a month? Please don't make me cry =( sorry time is dragging, hopefully you don't have much longer.

  19. Mrs. Cookie

    blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts

@lauraeabel: I'm sorry you are so frustrated! Girl, I had a meltdown last night (they are frequent these days), and I was asking my husband, do I really have to feel like this for all of July!?!?!?! my due date is at the end of the month. My feet are so swollen they are painful, even my slippers dig into them, and it hurts to walk. My back which is usually an issue has been doing well, so weird. But yea, the bending over, and constantly peeing, the constipation and hemorrhoid, and feeling out of breath and emotional all the time, I'm like, OH, this is why everyone is so miserable at the end!!!

YOU CAN DO IT!! So close now. take one hour at a time. Easier said than done cause I can't take my own advice!

  20. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@lauraeabel: Well, she had been at 4cm at 36 weeks and had him at 40 so didn't really go past due! I just feel bad for mamas who are at 40 weeks with no dilation or effacement and get to 42 and have to have an induction. Such a bummer all the way around. I don't know why some bodies and babies don't seem to kick it into gear! But clearly your body is doing the right things which is awesome!

  21. cookiemomster

    kiwi / 714 posts

@princessandthebee: I appreciate the moral support =) sorry you're also miserable =( hopefully he doesn't make you wait the entire month!

  22. Mrs. Cookie

    blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts

@coopsmama: That's a good point, I'd rather go into labor a little bit dilated than not! Here's hoping!

@lauraeabel: Thank you, I hope so too!

  23. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@lauraeabel: oooo exciting on the dilation! I'm waiting at doctor's office now and so hopefully for some dilation but I'm sure it's just wishful thinking! Since I'm going to be induced, I just know it would be so helpful if my body was moving that way!!

@coopsmama: my fingers are crossed every day that things will
    start moving for you!!

@princessandthebee: I can definitely relate to the meltdowns, I'm so over this!

  24. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@runnerd: Crossing my fingers that your body is ideal for induction! Especially since yours is for the health of that sweet baby boy!

@princessandthebee: Ugh well your situation does sound miserable! I'm a lot further along than you but not dealing with any of that -- well, minus the constant peeing, but that's a give in. And yet I'm still a grump! I was annoyed at my husband yesterday because I had a loooong day in the heat with a busy one year old and I was hoping he'd get the hint and not go to the gym but he did. And so he got home late and I was kinda cold to him which is totally not me at all. Just pregnancy hormones and exhaustion and frustration! But today is a new day and I will do better!

I did forget to mention that tonight is my baby shower at a friend's home. I'm very excited because they are catering cupcakes from my favorite cupcake shop! Yum. So that's exciting. It was supposed to be about 3 weeks ago but had to be rescheduled to accommodate a few key guests so looking on the bright side -- at least I'm not in labor or newly postpartum so I can enjoy the shower and time with friends.

@lauraeabel: eeek! 2cm's and 70% effaced is great! I was only dilated to a 1 when I was induced so don't worry! I think it's good progress.

@coopsmama: ahhh! Come on, baby!! And yay for the shower! So exciting!

@runnerd: let us know how it goes!!

I'm dealing with the end of pregnancy by shopping. Retail therapy. I bought new yoga pants, yoga shorts, shoes, make-up, some outfits for our family photos. Someone stop me. We're going to be broke by the time this baby gets here, haha.

Yesterday was a TOUGH day and I totally hear you, @coopsmama: about the heat. I thought it would be a good idea to blow up our pool, with the 90 degree heat (no AC inside) but DD kept slipping under the water so of course I was jumping to help her. I hate that my body can't move like it normally can and I have anxiety since I don't have control. I ended up hurting my back and I could barely walk last night!

@coopsmama: oooo that sounds fun, I'm cupcake obsessed!

@HLK208: I'm doing a lot of window shopping for when I lose some weight to pass the time lol

Well boo!! No dilation, high cervix, high baby! Only progress is cervix starting to soften which has been case for 2 weeks. Guess I better stop hoping for labor before induction day!

I had my 36 week appt today.
My blood pressure was really high for whatever reason at 126/84. Normally, I run maybe 100/60. Dr said she's going to watch it and see if it's still high next week.

My fundal height was only 33-33.5 weeks, which makes me worry a little bit. It's been trending only two weeks behind, so seems like growth is slowing down. I do have a growth ultrasound next week though.

Also I was a fingertip dilated and Dr could feel the baby's head (gross!)

  28. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@runnerd: it can happen quickly! A few good contractions and you could be in active labor tonight

@LemonLong: I hope baby's growing okay! My BP was a little higher this week too, 140/84 - but last week it was 102/80. My doctor wasn't concerned but when it starts to creep at every appointment, they start doing more tests. I was induced last pregnancy for hypertension so I'm so hoping it doesn't happen again.

@HLK208: thanks for the encouragement! man hope it is true for me.

@LemonLong: will be thinking about you while you wait on the growth ultrasound!! 126/80s readings are my good days getting blood pressure taken at doctors during this pregnancy

@HLK208: Retail therapy has always been my therapy of choice, too. Unfortunately it's not in our budget right now because last month was expensive, gah, but I'd be right with you otherwise! I'm so proud of myself for going to Target this AM and walking out with the one thing I went in for! And yes, this heat is ridiculous for us north westerners! It just snuck up on us out of nowhere. I get what you mean about the anxiety because your body can't perform like it normally can. Friends invited us to the lake/beach today and I declined. I just don't want to mess with a toddler by the water and feeling like a whale on the shore. I feel the worst for DS because I'd love to let him be out enjoying the weather but I just am not up for it.

@runnerd: So sorry about your cervical check - BUT as others have said, they really are meaningless so you very well may go into labor naturally or have a perfectly easy breezy induction!

@LemonLong: Ha! I think the feeling baby's head thing is kinda gross, too. My midwife told me at my last appointment I could reach up and probably feel it if I wanted - no thanks. Sorry about the growth slowing down and your blood pressure! I hope that both things are nothing and on the range of normal.

I just found out DH will not be able to take really ANY time off now. We'd been planning on a whole week but his (well not his, the one he works for!) financial firm is being audited the middle of this month and his job plays a huge role in making sure that all goes smoothly so between being there and having to prepare - we definitely will only get a day, maybe two. I kinda want to cry after hearing that. Disappointed. But there's nothing we can do. Oh well.

  31. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@coopsmama: oh no I'm so sorry about the news with DH's work - I hope somehow, someway it works out okay! Do you have family around to help after baby comes?

  32. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@HLK208: My mom and sister are local and will both help out a ton, I'm sure. So that's good! It would be nearly impossible if we lived far away from them -- although I'm sure my mom would be willing to fly in and help were that the case! And of course MIL would probably be an option but I'm not sure I really want to go there -- will see how things go for me emotionally after this birth.

@coopsmama: Haha, I have to laugh, my version of being cold to my hubby is a LOT worse. I'm a crazy person when I'm stressed/over tired/massively preggo. Have fun at your shower!!

@HLK208: Shopping sounds so much fun right now! Too bad we are so broke after buying the house. Ugh...

@LemonLong: Hoping you have a positive growth ultrasound!! My OB said something about feeling the head but I wasn't dilated last week, hmm, maybe she can just tell by being up there?

@coopsmama: Ugh, that is sad news about DH having to work. I'm sorry.

@Coopsmama- yay for the shower, boo for your husband =( glad you have local help but I totally understand being sad he can't get more time initially.

@runnerd try not to be too discouraged, the cervical checks really don't mean a whole lot- some people at x cm for weeks, some people have a more sudden labor. Hoping our body preps for you at least a bit before your induction, but you have a couple weeks so that could very well happen.

@hlk208 enjoy the retail therapy extra for me, we are saving hard core for my leave and so we are broke city.

@blueberrypie congratulations, what a fantastic name!! While I know it's not what you expected and can be a shock, I have a cousin with downs and she really is the most joyful, kindest soul I know. She's taught us also much just from knowing her, and I'm sure your boy will do the same. He's lucky already to have a loving set of parents!

I finally picked baby boy's going home outfit. The one on the left is newborn and the one on the right is 0-3 months by Tea collection. I also have a zip up sleeper in newborn in case I don't want to mess with the ensemble.
