I'm just popping in and saying congrats to the July 2014 mamas! It's JULY! This time last year I was waiting for my little one to be born hope time flies by and you stay cool and eat lots of ice cream

My family threw me a mini shower - we went out to dinner last night and I was so surprised. It was such a nice night (we sat on the water, there was a live band, good food and some cute gifts).

But then I got in bed, slept for about 2 hours and woke up to intense back cramps that wrapped around to my stomach and hips. I couldn't sleep through it. I drank a lot of water yesterday! What's going on? This is my third pregnancy so I thought I should know by now when to tell what's real vs. fake. I'm losing a lot of energy though (um, the dish washer has needed to be emptied for 2 days now). So I was up until 5am, feeling like today would be the day. They're better now but I'm still worried to leave the house alone!

@BlueberryPie: Oh, welcome sweet baby Luca and congratulations to you, mama! I can't imagine how you must be feeling after that news but your response sounds amazing and I know that baby will be one loved little boy. I adore the name Luca. I hope you are both getting rest and that you're able to be home as a family soon.

@princessandthebee: So cute! The little newborn outfit made me remember all the reasons I had so much fun shopping for my son last summer!

@intotheocean: thank you! There has definitely been lots in the way of ice cream consumption around these parts

@HLK208: First - thank you for saying your dishwasher has needed to be emptied for two days. Mine has been, too! I feel like labor is right around the corner for you. I really do. It just seems like you've had so many false starts - it has to be, right?! Come on baby N! I think it's so sweet your family threw you that shower. The picture on IG looked like so much fun.

As for me, last night was rough. I think I barely slept 3-4 hours - the heat is killing me over here! I am a swollen mess. I also got the worst leg cramp which never happens to me and it is still hurting this afternoon.

My shower went well. It was outside, was very simple, and decorated with all sorts of pretty flowers some of which I got to take home. I got some really nice things for DD and have a few loads to wash this afternoon. I really appreciated it. Aaaaand for the record, I did eat 3 cupcakes. Oops!

I had an appointment today. I had to wait 45 minutes which, at this stage in the game, kinda ticked me off. DS is a teething, feverish mess so I had to ask my mom last minute to take time from work to stat home with him. I'm so glad I didn't drag him along to this appointment.

I declined being checked and midwife felt baby and said she has floated back up and is very crooked in her presentation. Definitely still posterior. She didn't say it directly but hinted at seeing me at an appointment next week - July 10th. I'll be 40w4d at that point. Sigh! Guess I'm in it for the long haul unless baby figures out her positioning stat.

I'm anxious to see who delivers next! And I want another newborn picture! Come on. July babies!

@coopsmama: how was your shower?!? Thanks for the encouraging words - I really hope to be done soon. I feel like I've hit another wall in this pregnancy.

ETA: just saw your update! Yay for a great shower! I'm so impressed that you declined to be checked - you've got some will power, lady. Haha. I'm hoping you won't need to go to that next appointment!

@HLK208: If I'm still pregnant next week I WILL be asking to be checked and will be demanding a membrane sweep if at all possible. When she said that her head had floated upwards again (I guess it's common for second time plus moms to have baby engage off and on? You'd know better than I would about that!) I didn't even want to bother. But I'm lazy and I hate sitting there wrapped up in those paper sheets that tear if you barely even move!

@HLK208: yay for a surprise shower and sorry your body is being so difficult to read! Hoping baby comes very soon!

@coopsmama: Geez, that's a long time to wait! Sorry baby has floated back up, not what you wanna hear at this stage! Glad the shower was fun though!

What are some things you ladies are most looking forward to about NOT being pregnant anymore? Minus the obvious ones like no more bump, a newborn to snuggle, etc.

I am REALLY craving a great deli sandwich, a peach sparkling wine Bellini at my favorite restaurant in town, and to go shopping for new clothes!

@HLK208: this is only my second but I'm the same way, I still can't tell the difference between contractions- I'm so afraid of going into labor and not realizing it until too late and having my baby on the side of the freeway!

My day was super weird. It started off that I didn't feel baby boy very much when I woke up even after some OJ. I wasn't too concerned though because he did meet the kicks count (first time I've ever had to worry) and then I just casually mentioned something at my appointment. The nurse decided to get me an NST (my first one).

Baby boy was very active. But when the OB saw his heartbeat pattern she got concerned, there were too many dips for her liking. So off to the hospital for longer monitoring and a biophysical profile.

Luckily baby passed with flying colors- A+ on both the ultrasound tests and the monitoring. And the nurse at the hospital saw some contractions which was weird because my OB didn't see any on my NST at the office.

Anyway, back home now, crabby and full after scarfing down lunch at 4 PM- way too late for this mama!

Such a snowball effect all from one comment to my nurse! But I'm happy they checked. baby is still head down and I'm still not dilating so I'm super glad they didn't mention a 4th of July induction (which would have been the plan). Oh and we're hosting people at our house tomorrow AND we're in the middle of getting some electrical work finished for 500 dollars. I'm way more upset about that than the hospital visit. Baby did so good!

UGH, this day bites. sorry for the long post.

@princessandthebee: the outfits are all so cute! Sorry you're having such an odd day, but it's probably better they took the comment too seriously rather than letting it go and something being wrong.

@hlk208 how sweet that they threw you a surprise shower! And everything your describing sounds like very good progress at the very least. Totally feel you on the no energy. I stay exhausted these days

@coopsmama sorry things are getting harder =( leg cramps are no joke! My best advice is just make sure your drinking a lot of water, I find they're way worse if I'm not hydrated.
I don't blame you for not being checked, that was so SO uncomfortable and I'm not sure it indicates enough to be worth it. Hopefully you aren't pregnant by next appointment!

As for me, today was unexpectedly my first day of maternity leave. My back issues have gotten to bad to stay at work and sit in a chair all day, so the doctors pulled me out. I've been having random contractions all day yesterday and today, so I'm hoping against hope it will become something soon. I'm bouncing on an exercise ball, having lots of sex (sorry for tmi) and try to be as active as I can.
We also are in the middle of a hurricane currently, and power is going off and on pretty regularly. So that's shaking things up a bit.

What I miss most is not having so much attention on me when I'm around people- that, and wine. So much wine.

@coopsmama: oh I agree. I hate, hate, hate cervical checks anyway since they're painful!

I'm most excited for: sangria, my body to feel relieved, to be active with my older LO's, not peeing at night, eating carbs (dumb GD!!!) and feeling like a normal mom and wife again!

@LemonLong: I actually read one of your old threads today (I looked up false labor on the HB search). I'm feeling exactly what you did. Painful cramping through back, hips and stomach but I really don't want to go in to L&D just for them to tell me it's nothing.

@princessandthebee: I'm sorry for the scare! But so glad baby is alright. Ick, home repairs always stink. Hope tomorrow is better!

@lauraeabel: wow! Go you for DTD, haha! My poor, poor DH hasn't been so lucky. Yay for the first day of maternity leave too!

I'm also over all of the conversation that strangers start up about the pregnancy. Sometimes, I just want to mind my own business!

@HLK208: AMEN to pregnancy small talk with strangers. Somehow, being asked 18 times a day by random people if I'm just SO ready to be done doesn't make time go any faster.

@coopsmama: I am soooo looking forward to a refreshing summer beer on the back deck with DH when LO has been laid down at night. Also, SOOOOO EXCITED to start running again!

@princessandthebee: glad everything looked good!! better safe than sorry!

@HLK208: @lauraeabel: haha, yea I'm tired of being smiled at and looked at bc I'm pregnant! I want to go back to being invisible in a store and at the park lol

Anyone else lose their mucus plug? I lost at least part of it this afternoon- it was not at all what i expected but after a fairly disgusting google search that's definitely what it was. I'm not sure it means anything but maybe it's progress?

  18. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@lauraeabel: I haven't yet but in my experience, I only lost it right before labor! With my first, I lost it 3 hours before my water broke. With my second, I lost it, went to the hospital for my induction and they said I was already in early labor.

  19. mlm2934

@lauraeabel: ooo sounds like it could be a good sign since you had some progress at your last check too. I have barely even been having discharge lately so mucus plug intact over here!

@lauraeabel: Mucus plugs are disgusting so that sounds about right! It sounds like things are moving right along for you - I have to think baby most certainly will be early! Hooray!

@runnerd: Wall me your IG and I'll add you! I'll warn you I post far too many pictures of my little man. It's really fun having HB friends on there and I agree, can't wait to see each other's babies!

Nothing new over here, just hanging tight! I'm super swollen tonight from being outside in the muggy heat all day. I think tonight (we had to come home from 4th festivities early due to LO's bedtime) I'll be putting my feet up, drinking lots of ice water and watching a movie with DH. Maybe also indulging in some ice cream - YUM. 40 weeks Sunday and finally coming to terms with the fact that I will in fact be pregnant forever.

No baby here yet. 37 weeks today and hubster is going to Turkey for three days next week, so baby needs to stay put for one more week, then we're systems go!! Kinda nervous about him going, but I just keep remanding myself that most first babies are late...

Looking forward to everyone's updates in the next few days!!

@lauraeabel: That's really exciting about your mucus plug! Things I'd never thought I'd say... haha

Post pregnancy I'm most excited about being able to see my lady parts for shaving, red wine, and bending down without groaning, oh and not feeling so warm all the time!

My IG is dramahappens but I rarely post pics on there! Is it weird if some of us decide to be FB friends? I just update FB so much more often...

And hopefully all of you early July mamas come back to see us late July mama's updates! I know everyone will have a sweet newborn to cuddle, but it's gonna get lonely here after the middle of the month goes by!

@MrsCDH: Sorry hubby is gone for a short time, hopefully baby stays put until after he comes home!!

@MrsCDH: fingers crossed the baby cooperates with DH's trip!

@princessandthebee: haha! I felt so gross even mentioning it, buttttt progress is progress? I guess?
I completely agree with everything you miss. Being this pregnant in the south in July is getting less and less fun by the day.
I don't think being Facebook friends is weird! I use that way more than Instagram also.
Also I can't speak for anyone else but I'm way too nosey to go anywhere even after the baby's born... I want to see all the cute babies!

Is anyone receiving any special treatment during these last few days/weeks?

I'm not! I'd love one more pedicure though. DH is acting like I'm not even pregnant...which, with my hormones, hasn't been going over well!

@HLK208: I actually just got a pedicure today, which i highly recommend. It was awesome, and my feet were a mess since I can't reach them right now!
DH has been really good to me this whole pregnancy, and that hasn't changed. I'm really lucky,'he's basically the most awesome. I'm still doing the majority of the cooking/cleaning, but that's because I want to keep myself as busy as I can.

@HLK208: This Friday is my last day of work and then I have an 11-day stretch before my c-section on the 22nd so I'm planning on getting a pedicure, a haircut, and my eyebrows threaded during my time off. I figure it'll be my last chance to get pampered for a long time.

I use Facebook more than Instagram too. In my October 2012 due date group someone started an October 2012 hellobee group on Facebook which is still active. Maybe we could do that too?

  40. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@MrsCDH: Will be crossing my fingers for you that baby stays put until your husband is back from his trip!

@princessandthebee: I don't think it's weird to want to be Facebook friends! I have a few HB friends on Facebook. I don't post a ton on there these days (mostly just big news items for out family) but I'd love to see a group started like @LemonLong: mentioned. Does someone want to get one started? It would be nice if we could make it a private group.

And I'll definitely be on here through the entire month (and after!) even if baby comes as early as tomorrow! I'm way too invested in everyone's pregnancies and stories now. The way it's looking though with this stubbornly posterior girl I'm carrying -- I'll be right there with ya towards the end of this month!

@HLK208: Nah. I wish. I would love a pedicure, too, as my nails are so bad and haven't been painted in forever and I can't exactly bend down there to do it myself. DH does treat me like I'm pregnant and goes above and beyond at home and with DS but I would love it if he were to mention that I should get a massage or pedi or something. Oh well! I've already scheduled my first cut and color for August - can't wait!
