@Iced Tea: @MrsF: Thanks for the advice/encouragement! I called the clinic system today, and I am switched over. I didn't really get to choose the doctor because it was whoever was willing to take me after reviewing my case (and the OB I was interested in is going on maternity leave), but it seems like the doctor will be a good fit. They are considering my pregnancy higher risk because I had a c section with my son, and this doctor has a lot of experience with high risk pregnancies. I will see a nurse in a couple weeks to go over how the care will work and then I will see the doctor in a month. I think the system and set up seems more like what I am looking for.
@MrsF: I'm glad to hear your appointment went well and you like your clinic! Good luck tomorrow!

@bookwormmama: So glad you had a great scan! Wonderful news! Sorry your apt. didn't go well. My OB sees me every 4 weeks after the first visit. So glad you switched and already seem to be getting better care!
@Iced Tea: So glad to hear the news that you are feeling better!! Hoping it stays that way! Have fun in Atlanta!
@newlypregnantlady: So glad you had a great scan! @winniebee: yay for a good scan and I'll be saying a prayer for those BW results!
I have my first apt. with the high risk doc today and I can't wait to see how much my two little peas grew! I bought a fetal Doppler and I've been able to hear the heartbeats almost daily. It's been a huge blessing for me and taken away some anxiety! I'm praying both babies are growing healthy and strong!

Just got back from my NT scan, which went really well Nice to see the little kiddo looking happy in there, and everything looked good on the ultrasound. We did opt to have blood drawn for Panorama, so they say I'll have results from that in about 2 weeks.

@Winnie13: yup! Been using my Doppler once a week (did it much more w my first pregnancy lol).
Got my nt scan too. What a relief to see a good heartbeat and seeing the baby move around. My us dr said she guessed girl. She wants me to report whether her guess is right lol.

Great news on everyone's NT scans! I got my blood work back yesterday and have very low risks for all 3 trisonomies! She said the chance was less than 1 in greater than 10,000...I guess they stop counting after 10,000?
@tequiero21: the tech guessed girl for us too. She was pretty sure of her guess...so now I'm dying to know for sure!

Back to update after a silent few weeks. I'm 11+0 today and still have some nauseous moments, but no vomiting. The headaches are rather uncomfortable. I rarely get them outside of pregnancy and didn't have them at all with my son. I'd almost prefer the nausea some days.
Our first sonogram and OB visit was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I measured on point for 6/23 and our 20mo was excited to see the baby wiggle. He waved and said "hi!" I received many pats of encouragement from him throughout the sonogram. What a character!
We announced to my immediate family, my relatives, MIL's family, and my coworkers last week. We'll announce to FIL's family at our holiday party tomorrow night. That should cover the important people before declaring it FB official. If not, we tried.
Now to cruise through the next hour of work so I can go nap.

Yay to all this good NT news! Some good news on this end too, my mom had surgery on Friday and it went really well! Still a long recovery ahead, but such a sigh of relief. My NT scan is on Wednesday...I'm excited for my husband to get to see the baby!

Hi Ladies,
I've been mostly lurking these past few weeks because I've been feeling terrible. But unfortunately, I got some bad news at the Dr. this morning, so please remove my name from the list. Happy and healthy to ALL of you here!

@math.nerd no! So sorry to hear your news. Hugs to you. Take all the time you need to heal.
I have my nt scan on Monday and so so anxious. I'm feeling pretty good just still battling major bloat in the afternoon/evening which doesn't make eating appealing. I hate this silly mind game of I feel good so something must be wrong!
Hope everyone is doing well and getting excited for the holidays.

14 weeks today so offically in my second trimester! Just hoping this morning sickness starts to disappear from now on. Had my midwife appointment yesterday and heard baby's heartbeat for the first time will be seeing my midwife again the second week of January and will be getting my referral form for the gender scan ahhh!
I hope everyone else is doing well

@MrsStar: due date twins! Glad to hear your appointment went well, and I hope you feel better soon!
I had another good appointment today. My girls came along and were thrilled to hear baby's heartbeat (161 - maybe another girl?). I'm hoping my progesterone levels have risen enough to get off the supplements, but overall, everything's going well it seems.
It's really starting to feel real! I'm definitely showing, and I felt the baby moving for the first time yesterday! Plus, my siblings threw me a surprise sprinkle/luncheon over Thanksgiving since we likely won't be together again until next summer. Nothing like boxes of diapers and little baby blankets to make it real!

Hi all, I had my NT appointment today and it went well. I had to wait a super long time which was annoying, but everything looked good and my husband was totally amazed (and fascinated by the machine, he's a huge nerd). I'm feeling at least some temporary relief from the increased anxiety I've been feeling of late.
@rattles @mrsstar I'm glad your appointments were good too!

@msmilkshake: so glad to hear it went well and that your husband could be there too!

@rattles: Sounds like a great appointment and how nice of your siblings to celebrate baby already. I'm sure my 4yo daughter would love to hear the HB, but my 2yo son would be a terror in the waiting room, etc. We'll see.

@msmilkshake: Glad you had a good appointment and that it eased your anxiety a little

@rattles: so fun that you felt movement! I keep feeling these spasms that feel like baby movement, but I think it's too early...it feels like later movements, which makes me think it's something else. Plus, I'm only 13 weeks and I apparently have an anterior placenta (again, ugh) so it seems less likely. Glad to hear your appointment went well too!
@MrsStar: @msmilkshake: yay for good appointments!
I'm meeting with an NP (I think) next week at my new doctor's office. I think it's just a new patient appointment, but I don't know what it will all entail. Then I see my new OB at the end of December! I have an anatomy scan scheduled already for mid January, but we will see if we stick with it. It's with MFM at the university and my new clinic partners with the university for some things. My niece was diagnosed with a cardiomyopathy at almost 2, and we don't really know why still, so we might want a higher quality ultrasound to check for any potential heart issues. My son checked out fine at the cardiologist this spring, so it's likely not genetic, but it might be good to keep an extra eye out for it!

@MrsF: granted my 2 year old was excited to hear it, but I found the promise of a lollipop helped a fair amount too
@bookwormmama: I had an anterior placenta with DD1, and it took forever to feel her move! I was 25 weeks! I hope you feel it at least a little sooner since you know what to feel for his go around! I hope your scans go well. My second was born with a ventricular septal defect, so I feel similarly to you.

@bookwormmama: I also have an anterior placenta, and I'm pretty sure I've been feeling movement. I thought I was crazy but I got an ultrasound today and i saw the baby moving and could feel it! It was kind of crazy. I definitely didn't expect to feel movement this early. I really do have to concentrate to be able to distinguish it from gas, .
I just switched insurance to Kaiser and they don't cover Diclegis, which is a huge bummer. I have two weeks of pills left and then I'm done. Hopefully I'll be okay. I vomited through 22 weeks with my first pregnancy.
They also changed my EDD based on my NT which means I'm now due 6/4 instead of 6/9.

@rattles: @newlypregnantlady: I had an anterior with DS as well...I'm surprised I have it again! I think I felt my DS's movements around 19-20 weeks...but I'm pretty short, so maybe the placenta had moved enough by then to feel more movement? The possible movement I have felt is always in the same spot on my left side, so I guess it's possible. It definitely doesn't feel like gas...much more like a muscle spasm, which is what movement in the late second trimester/third felt like to me. Maybe it's just muscles/ligaments moving/stretching. Baby was moving a ton during the NT scan though, so I guess I'll find out in a few weeks!

@newlypregnantlady: I didn't have insurance coverage for Diclegis either, so I went through the company's Foundation Care program, which allows you to pay $1 per pill if you order it by mail from a specific pharmacy. So for the maximum monthly quantity of 120 I pay $120. They are slow, so order early.

@newlypregnantlady: can you talk withheld your doctor about alternatives? Maybe s/he could help you match the dosage of unisom/b6 to comparable levels?
kiwi / 556 posts
@rattles: I did do this prior to getting the prescription, but it definitely didn't make as big a dent as the prescription. But I am hoping by the time I run out (I should be 16 weeks) my nausea will be moderate enough that the vitamins should help. I don't know why but the time-release capsule seems to make a big difference.
@Iced Tea: thank you, I may look into this. I'm not thrilled with my new OB, she seemed to dismiss my nausea as minor (even though I have a history of losing weight while pregnant), and I'm still vomiting on the medication.
I think I just lucked out with my first pregnancy and had a fantastic OB and now I have an okay one. I'm a little depressed about it, but this insurance is supposed to make birth a lot cheaper, so I guess you get what you pay for!

@newlypregnantlady: I'm sorry you're still struggling! I hope it clears up soon to you, and I hope your doctor feels like a better fit with time. I'm still lukewarm on my new practice too, and it's hard when you've had a great experience in the past!

@rattles: thanks, I'm hoping I warm up to her. But she really kept emphasizing that I'm not going to know the person who delivers my baby, which is kind of a bummer. Oh well!.
