@MrsF: I definitely know how you feel! I keep wearing super tight clothes because they make it clear I'm actually pregnant. I put on this shirt today and I was super psyched because I looked pregnant! But if I put on a coat or a sweater I don't look pregnant anymore.

    @Winnie13: congrats! That's super adorable!

@winniebee: um, yes. I didn't look at the scale yesterday and she didn't say anything. Phew! All these weight checks combined with the holiday - not cool.

@winniebee: @MrsF: we are driving home today for my 16 week appointment (which means fast food) after a week of holiday eating/lots of meals out with friends. I'm guessing I gained a few pounds this week...I've only gained about 6-7, so hopefully I didn't double that number this week

    @MrsHawk @winnie13 Congratulations! How exciting!

@winniebee @MrsF @bookwormmama I have been eating SO much ('tis the season right?) I will probably not be thrilled to see the scale either.

@newlypregnantlady I am so with you...I feel like I mostly just look weirdly lumpy haha.

I hope everyone had/is having happy holidays. I got to go home for a few days and see my mom, which was great. She started chemo right after I left and we'll get the next update in February. She was in great spirits though, which really lifted mine too.

Hello everyone! I know I've been MIA for the last few weeks but life just took a scary turn and I've found it hard to think about anything pregnancy related for a while. My mum was taken very ill and thought we only had days with her due to heart problems and stroke symptoms. This was during my twelfth week too so I had to decide whether I would tell her I was pregnant or not (I know it's something she's been praying for me for a few years even though she's never ever once asked me about the issue in my 8 years of marriage). So emotions were running high during the week she had to be admitted to hospital. After lots of different tests, they settled on the diagnosis that she has an auto immune disease and is now on strong steroids. She's lost the sight in one eye but is so much better than she was.
My brother and his new wife flew back fromNew Zealand and my other bro and sis all came homefir Christmas so my parents have had a very full house this past week which has been amazing but obviously exhausting too!
At my first 12wk scan, we realised bub was only 10 weeks so had to go back for a second scan and everything seems fine and I'm at 'low risk'. I've now told all my family, except my older sister as I know she would blab to everyone in our Church network and on Facebook ha!
@rattles: could you change my due date to June 22nd? Ta

Hope 2017 is a healthy and happy one for you all. I really appreciate this little group of mamas and mamas-to-be and have been reading to catch up with all your news too. Xx

@Tubbs I'm so sorry that happened. It is so hard to have all of those emotions at the same time (plus all the hormones, at least on this end). I'm glad she's doing better and you could get the family together for the holidays.

@Tubbs: So glad to hear your mom is doing better!! So sorry you've had to go through all of this! Glad little bean is doing well!

Thank you all for the well wishes!! We are so excited!

Happy New Year to all! 2017 will sure be a wonderful year for all of us!

I will now be going to the high risk doc every 2 weeks. They want to measure my cervical length each time. I was having some pelvic pressure, but cervix is at 4cm! That's my baseline, so doc was pleased, but now what's to make sure it's not shortening. I'm praying it stays the same in 2 weeks!

@Tubbs: so glad to hear you mom is doing better. How special you were able to share with everyone!

@Winnie13: I was wondering what extra monitoring you would have. Glad things are looking good so far. I'll be with high risk doctor for a variety of reasons for the next month at least and then maybe I will graduate.

@Tubbs: glad to hear things are getting better for your mom!

@winniebee: I feel like I've been so distracted by general life things this pregnancy I didn't even pay attention to the switch to the second trimester!

I had my first appointment with my new OB on Friday and I really liked her. She talked with me for a while, especially about VBAC vs. RCS and I never felt pressure to pick one or the other and she was really relaxed about having lots of time to decide. I'm still pretty undecided about what I want to do, but felt lots of pressure from my first two appointments to do a VBAC/TOL. I think I'll be a lot happier with this OB!

I had my blood draw for the quad screening (I think that's what it's called? That's what they called it with DS) and got my flu shot. My arm still hurts, ugh! My OB had me keep my appointment with the MFM/level 2 ultrasound on 1/17. My niece has a heart condition and we still don't know the causes, so we are doing a level 2 ultrasound just to be safe. I'm so excited to see baby and find out if it's a little boy or girl in a couple weeks!

  23. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@bookwormmama: yeah no amount of life could distract me from the anxiety of this pregnancy! Glad it has flown for you though!

  24. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@winniebee: I can totally understand that! I felt like the first trimester dragged on! I think the fact that I hit 14 weeks days before Christmas probably caused a lot of the forgetfulness for me!

  25. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

OB was fine today - gained 2 lbs over holidays, oops! Heard heartbeat and scheduled next two appointments. I have a scan at mfm next week to hopefully confirm there are no signs of a neural tube defect.

  26. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@winniebee: will they do the blood testing for you too? Or are they just skipping right to a scan? Will that give you more information than the blood test? Sending positive thoughts to you!

  27. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@bookwormmama: so I'll get a scan at 15 weeks and then the anatomy scan. I'm not sure if mfm will have me do the AFP draw but I'm guessing yes, since I'll get results at 17 or so weeks and if elevated I'll go right in for a scan and won't otherwise have another until 19 weeks. AFP is just screening (supposedly a poor screening test but it worked for me last time) and the only way to diagnose is amnio or ultrasound. Im not going to do the amnio though since ultrasound is diagnostic!

  28. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@winniebee: interesting! I got my blood work back last night on the AFP and was looking at it a little bit last night. Hopefully your ultrasound next week goes smoothly!

@Tubbs: gosh, how stressful! I'm glad you're well and will pray that your mom's heath continues to improve.

@winniebee: 2 lbs sounds fine to me, especially considering the holidays! I'm so glad things are going well thus far.

@bookwormmama: happy to hear that your new doc is a good fit! What a relief, I'm sure! Hope the blood work results came back normal!

  30. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@rattles: thanks! I got them back last night and every thing was normal according to the doctor. Of course none of the numbers/information made a lot of sense to me! Now onto the anatomy scan! I can't believe I'm only 2 weeks away!

  31. rattles

    grapefruit / 4903 posts

@bookwormmama: I know! Mine's a week from tomorrow, and while part of me feels like I've already been pregnant forever, overall I feel like it's flying by! Glad everything looks normal for you so far!

  32. MrsF

    honeydew / 7283 posts

@Tubbs: Oh my goodness, I'm sorry that you had to deal with all of that but so glad to hear that there was a different diagnosis! How scary.

@Winnie13: Glad to hear that your doc was pleased at your appointment - hope you stay 4cm for a long time

@winniebee: Happy second tri! I'm glad that you'll get some extra peeks at baby soon. I had my AFP drawn this morning and my stomach flipped a little thinking of you and Dylan It'll be so nice when we're all past the anatomy scan milestone!

@bookwormmama: That's great that you liked your new OB so much. That makes all the difference!

My due date is now officially 6/18 and my anatomy scan is scheduled for 1/30. Hope everyone is doing well! I'm potty training my 2 year old DD and it's kind of stressful!! She's finally starting to ask questions about the baby and that is exciting though. We have some books that she got for xmas and we're trying to talk about it more.
