@erinbaderin: We already have one of each. This is another girl for us.
@Alivoo01: My next appointment is 11/30.
Anyone else needing to do their glucose test soon? I have to schedule mine soon and get it done. Booo! But I also get to schedule an ultrasound soon too to get some more pictures of baby

@Alivoo01: I'm not looking forward to it! I thought it seemed early but my midwife said they like it done at 24 weeks... which was yesterday for me! I need to just get it over with

@Mrs D: I still really love that bedding and am excited to see a March nursery board! We have a long way to go before we're ready to convert our current guest room into the new nursery. DS's room will stay as-is with the addition of a new twin bed, and we're hoping to figure out a way to configure the nursery to still have space for a bed. We're in a townhouse with tiny secondary bedrooms so not many options. I have a Pinterest board with ideas but nothing realistic yet!
@erinbaderin: It will be one of each for us! And I'm old, so we're definitely done.

Looks like I don't know what I'm talking about, lots of people have one of each! Whoops!
I was planning on not doing my glucose test, but I'm starting to have second thoughts. I didn't do it last time and felt fine about it but my midwife really led me to believe that there were other indicators of GD that would lead me to be concerned. This time I'm getting a different picture, and I'm thinking maybe I should reconsider....has anybody else skipped it?

@erinbaderin: we aren't offered one at all in the UK (I assume if you had symptoms they'd then do it!) So I didn't have one last time and won't this time either
kiwi / 661 posts
@erinbaderin: I never skipped it (but I'm overweight so it isn't an options really) but I mean it's a slight annoyance and I like information. If you're second guessing things I would just do it. It's only an hour!

@mrsrain: OMG. I just want to poop like normal again. It's hard knowing I'm probably a year out from normal. It's been.... rough.

@erinbaderin: I don't think that's an option for me. I'm overweight though, so I had one in my first trimester and I have another one in a few weeks. FUN.
@reverie: lol. Amen!
@erinbaderin: we are having one of each, too it does seem to be less common amongst my real-life friends.

@mrsrain: @reverie: Constipation was a nightmare last pregnancy, especially postpartum. I'm drinking Citracel, taking a stool softener, and will basically do whatever it takes to avoid it again this time around.
@erinbaderin: I didn't know it was an option to skip the glucose test? I didn't mind it too much. I think I'll mind it even less this time if it means I get to be away from work in a quiet waiting room with my iPhone and a bunch of magazines for a couple of hours.

@erinbaderin: I didn't know you could skip the test! I did it with DS and plan to with DD. They gave me the drink at my visit prior to the test date so I could put it in the fridge to chill. Thankfully, it didn't taste all that bad. I was surprised. It was definitely sugary as crap, but tasted alright.

I think it might be because I'm using a midwife and so everything seems to be a lot more optional? They're pretty flexible on giving you the pros and cons of something (cons are almost always the false positive rates) and letting you choose.
nectarine / 2115 posts
@erinbaderin: I'm using a midwife, too. Maybe it's different in Canada than the US, though?
pomelo / 5573 posts
@mrsrain: Oh, maybe! I imagine it varies a lot from place to place. Even in my midwife clinic, I have a team of 3 midwives and one told me that because I had a c section last time and so would need to meet with an OB this time just in case that I'd have to do it, and another said "you don't HAVE to, the OBs just prefer it."

I just passed my GD test! Barely though I might add. This time I felt like they wanted me to fail. Sheesh.
It was a different OB practice this time. They test at 24 weeks instead of 28, they gave me a HUGE styrofoam cup of the drink, I swear it was more than 8 ounces, the nurse totally rushed me and stared at me while I drank it- rude, and then the OB told me one number I had to be under, and apparently it's changed, even lower now. I feel like this test is getting a bit ridiculous.
My last place tested at 28 weeks, let me take the drink home to put in the fridge, told me to drink it in five minutes on my drive over (so much more relaxing) and were not as crazy about the exact one hour mark. I passed with a really low number that time! And both times I had a tiny bowl of crispix for breakfast.
I know it's important to find out, but I'm curious if this is the best way to do it...
I get another ultrasound at my 28 week appt in 4 weeks to see if my placenta has moved. Anyone else have low-lying placenta? I had it last time and it was totally fine, moved in plenty of time!
kiwi / 661 posts
@princessandthebee: I had to do the GD test early this time b/c of my weight at 16 weeks. I passed (barely), but my experience has always been very clinical. get the bottle and have 5 minutes to drink it. sit in the lab and wait for the hour. blood draw. no leisurely drinking on my way in!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@princessandthebee: With DS, they gave me the drink at my 24 week appt so I could put it in the fridge and drink an hour before my appt at my 28 week appt. I'm hoping it's the same this time. Sitting there for an hour seems dumb and waste of time!
I have marginal placenta previa, and I'm hoping at my ultrasound tomorrow, it's moved!! My hormones are raging this pregnancy and I could use some relieve soon. Sucks we can't do a damn thing about it right now. lol
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@Alivoo01: Yes, hoping it's moved for you too!! I know, my hormones are raging as well. So emotional!

Hey everyone! Things are starting to get settled since the move. Down stairs is unpacked. The boys' room is unpacked. Just have stuff to hang up and I need to unpack all the clothes that don't currently fit me still, lol.
I checked in at the base hospital today and got my intake at my new OB scheduled for Friday morning.
Sooooooo cliff notes of anything exciting that has happened in the past week? Lol. I don't think I'll ever catch up!

Was a rough appt day.. Baby girl only has 2 vessels in cord instead of 3 plus its on side of placenta instead of middle so her weight is below 10% while his is 63% def scared n worried..got steroid shot today n will be monitored by mfm every two weeks...please pray all works out.

@Alivoo01: How did your ultrasound go?
@momtimes3: I will keep you and your babies in my thoughts! Sending good vibes for baby girl.
@Navy_Mommy: Good luck getting settled in your new place!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@princessandthebee: @MoreCoffee: Ultrasound went well. Thanks for asking! The placenta moved 0.52cm from where it was, but it's still covering my placenta so I still have a previa. 1cm to go, but it looks promising. *fingers crossed*
The cyst on the baby's head is also gone, but she's measuring small so the OB told me to up my protein intake and we're going to starting a growth chart for her to make sure she's growing on track even though she may be small and not because she's an IUGR baby like DS was.
@Navy_Mommy: Dang your quick and efficient with all the unpacking! Go you!!
@momtimes3: *hugs* DD is measuring small for me as well and we're keeping a close eye on her. I'll be seeing my MFM also if she doesn't pick up in growth at my next appt. Keeping you and your babies in my thoughts!

@Navy_Mommy: Good luck getting settled in to the new place!
@momtimes3: Hugs for you and prayers for baby girl...we're 24ish weeks now...so fingers crossed the monitoring we keep a good eye on her and get her to the finish line safely!
@Alivoo01: Great news about the cyst - and the progress of the previa!!! Fingers crossed for more good appointments. FYI - I have been trying out protein shakes if you want any recommendations!
Not much new for me to report...busy busy weekend - plus its so cold this will be the first one with all indoor activities for Kate...pray for us!

Thank you ladies so much!! @Alivo- my girl has tiny cyst on head too that dr said usually goes away so hopin it does! And i was told to up my protein to 90grams a day. I go today for 2nd steroid shot. MrsD- in interested in protein shake recommendations!!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs D: Yes! I'm interested to see what you've found that's yummy. We picked up Fair Life milk which has a good amount of protein in it, but looking for additional forms.
@momtimes3: DD's cyst was found during her 18 week scan, and it was gone by her 22 week scan. Since there was no other markers, they weren't concerned with it all. I'm thinking this is the same for you as well!

@Alivoo01: @momtimes3: So - all of my reviews are based on Chocolate flavors...thats just the way I roll!!!
My absolute favorite is Shakeology but it is pricey ($120 for 30 servings I believe). I have cut this though bc its just SO expensive!
I have recently tried both Bozoomers and MRM Whey Dutch Chocolate. Bozoomers is a little annoying bc you have to buy from them whereas MRM is sold on Amazon which is super easy!
I have heard great things about optimum also but have yet to try.
Both MRM and Shakeology are like 25-26 grams of protein per serving - which is awesome. I blend them with 8-10oz of almond milk for a shake. I have other recipes too that are different flavors. Bozoomers is about 18g of protein.
You will struggle to find a protein shake without stevia in it - so I asked my Dr who said having it once a day in a shake is fine...
cherry / 109 posts
Is stevia dangerous normally? I dont wanna do anything to risk anything else n know zilch about protein shakes n all that stuff lol
apricot / 320 posts
@momtimes3: (and any other shake-seekers!) We get Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Naturally Flavored Whey from Amazon. I like all three flavors, though if you read the reviews people are pretty up in arms about the recent reformulation with added sugar, lol. It's a super tiny amount and preferable to Stevia to me (I don't like the taste). Minimal ingredient list, too.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs D: @MoreCoffee: I was just recommended Premier Protein. Any experience with that?
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@momtimes3: I think Stevia is just something that has minimal testing done on it. She basically told me since its natural...anything in that small of quantity would be fine. She said "if you told me you had to put stevia in your water to drink it - we'd have to take a closer look"...
@momtimes3: an amount of what? Stevia?
@Alivoo01: I have not tried that one...sorry!
cherry / 127 posts
@Alivoo01: I drank one of those a day through my first pregnancy. It really helped me out with the energy and tachycardia issue I was having. I'm also a fan of Designer Protein's Essential 10 Plant Protein which I've found at Target and Kroger. It's really tasty and the protein is brown rice and pea (I have some dairy intolerance)
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@sailgrl18: I'll look into it! Thanks!
@princessandthebee: Thanks!! I hope so too!!!

So anyone having fun boob issues yet? I have noticed some clogs/crusty' son my nipples and then today I had some 'discharge' - I remember this happening towards the end last time but 24.5w seems early...
apricot / 451 posts
@Mrs D: I am having the clogs/crusties too! My boobs have also been crazy sore during the second trimester. No discharge/leaking yet - thank goodness!

@Lilbear: So glad I am not alone! The leakage only happened once, thank god!

@Navy_Mommy: Calling our resident WCRS expert!!! I know you are busy settling in to the new home...but I finally did a little more research and wanted to get your thoughts on some slings...
I am in LOVE with this pattern: http://www.risaroo.com/#!online-store/c249/!/Amitola-Creme-Diamond-Weave/p/52293144/category=13709058
If I understand correctly I would need to send this out to have it converted to a ring sling...is that what people use sleeping baby productions for? Any thoughts on this one?
Then I saw this one - that maybe appears to be already converted? http://www.risaroo.com/#!online-store/c249/!/Exclusive-Rainbowside-Creme-de-Nube-Herringbone-Ring-Sling/p/55015088/category=13709060
Am I reading that right?
Lastly - I think this one is also a woven ring sling...so maybe ready to go? But am I crazy for such a light fabric in terms of trashing it with use? http://www.oschaslings.com/shop/ring-slings/sekai-celandine/%252Fshop%252Fproduct%252Fring-slings%252F0%252F0%252F0%252F0%252F0%252F3%253FsearchBox%253D%2526page%253D1
No rush on the answers...just wanted to throw it out there!
