@Mrsdaredevil: me! Mine are on my upper belly but are faded/pale white. Ive always been plus sized but never really had brit red stretch marks.

My fasting glucose levels have been slightly elevated this week (2 points) or so above where they need to be. I have to increase my before bed carb/protein consumption and report my sugars on wednesday. I feel so grumpy about this!! Ive been working so hard, havent had a single sugary treat or bad carb in nearly a month and just want to scream! GD really sucks, its annoying more than anything to have to be so obsessive about what im eating.

@msmini yikes! You and your DH are real work horses! What does he do for work if you dont mind my asking?

@shortcake I couldnt agree with you more. I never had problems with any of the wonderful May babies mamas but there are a lot of drama queens on wedding bee. At least IMO. I love HB so much more because it is such a lovely community.

@Auntpol aww nuts!! Im sorry for your news about the elective section. Maybe youll need one anyway but try and stay positive. Im sure they will do what is best for you and your precious cargo.

Has anyone else been stressed about relationships with our pets once the baby arrives? I have a couple very needy cats, one in particular wh has DH and I very stressed out a lot of the time. Anyone else worried about adding a baby to the mix?

OMG so much activity on this thread, love it! I may miss responding to some people, b/c I'm clicking back and forth between pages.

Things here are chugging along - home rest is going well - I've been pretty immobile but that's what I need for the time being. Logged on to work for a few hours today and that certainly makes the time fly by! I will probably doing more work from home later this week or next week - honestly, there's only so much TV watching and reading one can do when confined to couch/bed. I'm feeling really positive about my progress - I still have contractions, but they are pretty spaced out, and I've been off of contraction meds for almost 48 hours so that's a good sign. I have to say I'm really jealous of you ladies who are 34-35 weeks along already....I can't wait to be at that point so I can stop worrying about delivering super-early.

We got nursery furniture delivered last weekend while I was in the hospital, so things are definitely looking more ready for baby W now! I *think* I also may have clearance to go to my baby shower Sunday....though we would be moving the location to near my house and I wouldn't be able to get up off my duff, it would be better than cancelling altogether.

@Nskillet: Oh no re: work! When will you find out more details? All you need is stress right no, especially with dealing with GD issues.

@aunt pol: I'm so impressed that you are doing so well with 2 bebes - I would be complaining up a storm ; ) I felt properly big last week but since I'm now laying around in sweats, its hard to say : ) Sorry to hear about the c-section news.....but as always the most important thing is keeping you and the babies safe....

@cvbee: You know, when I saw your maternity pics, that gave me a much better of how your belly looks - in the pics you post to weddingbee, sometimes it was hard to me to tell from that angle...but no denying that adorable belly now - you look perfect for how pregnant you are : )

There's been some talk of adding pics to HB - I'm not sure where that stands though.

@Mrsdaredevil: Glad you had a great shower, and I'm sorry to hear you are more restricted now....how far along are you now? Just a few more weeks to go until 36wks, right? my sister just suggested the book "Bed Rest" to me and I'm going to read it this week. I've been catching up on movies and plan to start watching some TV series that I've been wanting to watch (Downton Abbey, Up all Night)...also hopefully reading some of the baby books that I got.

@Mrsdaredevil: I have little stretch marks starting on the edges of my bump, mostly at the top, right now they are just small, but I am sure they will get bigger. I am stretch mark prone, so I was expecting them though.

@Nskillet: Sorry that your sugars are increasing, mine have been as well, but I think it might have a lot to do with eating out more with DH at work all the time. I am having a lot of trouble getting motivated to cook for myself. My DH is a computer engineer and works for a defence contractor. This is their busy time because military budget all needs to be spent by April 1st, so there is always a lot of last minute ordering done between January-March and the products all need to be built and shipped by April 1st. The last 2 weeks of March are major crunch time, and we all become work widows for this time of year!

@winniebee: Glad you are keeping yourself busy with working from home! I wish I could do that. I have a big to-do list on the fridge of things I want to get done around the house that aren't too heavy work-wise (washing and re-folding our spare linen, etc). I hope that hitting a task or 2 per day gives me something to do without running myself ragged!

@MsMini: Glad you are making some progress at home - are you enjoying life post-work? Yes, do not run yourself ragged!! I am excited to get to the point when doctors tell me not to go to work still, but that I can do simple house chores!

@marriedandlovingit: I don't believe you have gained 40 lbs....you look so thin and all belly...just goes to show how everyone carries it differently. I'm around all the time to keep you company ; )

@MsMini: Tonight im trying some new items, made some HB eggs for protein and will focus on more veggie/nut snacking I hope I return to my great fasting levels of the first week of tracking!!! So interesting about your husbands line of work. MY DH is also in a computer related field but in insurance.

@winnie it really sucks my company is being sold but Im trying to take my emotions out of things and just focus on baby. My shower is the day before yours! I hope youre approved to attend yours!!

@Nskillet: I'm not extremely worried about the pets, but it does cross my mind. For example, I have a really big cat and usually he is too lazy and old to jump up and explore, but I wonder if he will risk his old bones to get into the baby's crib, as so many people say cats like to do. I'll keep an eye on it. And then we have a dog.....a husky. And recently in the news there was that story about the husky that killed the newborn baby. I for sure won't be trusting the dog with the baby. Like, this weekend when I went to see my cousin's 3 day old, they had her laying on the floor (on a contoured change pad) and there were two small dogs running around the house. I was shocked, but they were supervised by all of us and they were totally good about the baby. I think it's something you have to wait and see about and also train the pets about. Everyone tells me to give the pets extra love when baby comes.

Suddenly today I have to pee way more frequently and urgently than usual. Plus I have had some period-like sensations. And when I was at the grocery store I felt like holding-up my belly made me feel better. I'm going to google 'baby dropping' and see if this all corresponds because if I weren't pregnant I would assume that I've got a bladder infection. (Now, due to my kidney, I was actually put on antibiotics and just stopped taking them a few days ago, so it would seem weird to get a bladder infection right after a course of antibiotics.)

Nice that we've all decided that HB is our meeting place. It was tricky with wondering if we should duplicate our posts here and there or what. Looks like we've all migrated here and we can keep it simple.

35 weeks tomorrow. Next week's OB appointment will be my first internal and the strep test. And it looks like I'll be keeping you best-rest people company as so far I only have work on Wednesday and Friday this week for supply teaching.

@Nskillet: I've been worrying about how our dog will react! She's always been "our baby" and she's used to getting all of the attention, plus she's never really been around small kids, let alone babies. I have no idea what she's going to think! We've been trying to prepare her the best we can in the meantime.

@jennylynn: my worries exactly. One Of our cats is very very needy and jealous with my husband and I. I'm just worried about his behavior when there is a little person taking all our attention.

@cvbee: Good luck with the internal & strep test - I have had FOUR internals since Wed. and after reading so much about how horrible they were I was so nervous. But honestly it wasn't that bad. Just brace yourself for some pinching and you will be OK.

@winniebee: Downton Abbey is amazing! I watched the whole first season on Netflix, but I am not sure how to get ahold of the other two seasons since they're are not on Netflix. You are going to LOVE watching it. I think I am going to have to check out that book myself too.
@cvbee: I do that too with the stretch marks. I see a line from my clothes and I freak out!!! haha
@cvbee: Sounds to me like your baby is dropping. I read that it was normal to feel odd sensations in your cervix, as well as cramps anywhere in your pubic area. My baby is sitting very low and I literally have to pee every. single. hour. Sounds like your little guy is on his way down!
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MY AVATAR EITHER!!!

@Mrsdaredevil: @cvbee: There are directions on the site as to how to do it, but I can't find it right now! You need to upload an avatar to gravatar.com, an outside website. I just e-mailed Mr. Bee and asked for specifics and will post here.

Also, how do you know when baby has "dropped"? At my fetal survey in the hospital last week, they showed me baby head is down and his head is RIGHT up against my cervix. I assume that based on that and because I'm dilated, he's "dropped?" Not that that's a good thing for me right now.

@Nskillet: We have a newfoundland dog and an evil cat. We aren't worried about the dog (he loves babies and has been well exposed to them), though we will be supervising all interaction between dog and baby. We will be using a crib tent to keep the cat out of the crib, and probably keeping the nursery door closed to keep the pets out.

@winniebee: I am only on day 3 off, and I often have 7 day stretches off, so so far I am coping fairly well. I think when I get past the one week mark I am going to start getting twitchy, but by then if we have the nursery painted I can start assembling furniture and washing clothes and putting them away, which should keep me busy and happy!

@Nskillet: Don't worry about the pets yet. There are books on training the pets--my friend got a CD of a baby crying, and played it while locked in a room. It really got her dog used to be ignored when he heard crying. He was fine by the time the baby was born. I don't know about cats, but cats seem to always be able to adapt to anything.
I'm sorry the GD sucks so bad. Only a little while longer, and as soon as baby is here you can eat normally again.
@aunt pol. Sorry about your c-section news

@winniebee: Me too... sorry if I miss a comment--everyone just posted!
Good luck--I hope you can go to your baby shower! That would be awesome. When do you find out if you have clearance? OR... could people come over to your house?
Congrats on getting off the anti-contraction meds. YAY! And
Congrats on all the furniture! That's a fun part. We only got a crib, and just re-purposed some other stuff we already have, so we set up our nursery corner as soon as we set up the crib. It's so exciting!

@MsMini: Ack! Sounds like a tough couple weeks for you two! Almost April... almost...

eek--time to run off to work--Ill catch up with the rest later. Happy today, ladies!

@MsMini: A crib tent is an excellent idea!

@winniebee: I keep hearing women say that you'll just know when the baby has dropped bc you can breathe easier and the baby isn't kicking the ribs. Possibly compare your bump pics from earlier ones to now and you may be able to tell a difference if the baby has dropped?

@cvbee: I've been getting those period cramps as well both in my lower back and lower abdomen. It's strange to be feeling them again. I didn't miss them

@winniebee: That doesn't mean anything. Mavrick was head down practically the whole time and I was induced 1 week past my due date.

Had my post-partum class last night. On our way there, I told DH that it could get a little "graphic". When the nurse started talking about golf-ball sized clots, he leans over and goes "Is this the graphic part?" - I think he was worried it was going to get worse. He also reiterated that he appreciates everything I have to go through, and probably understands a bit better why doing this again doesn't seem like such a great idea to me right now!
No stretch marks yet - I'm hoping that it stays that way.
I'm a little worried about our cat - she's pretty high maintenance and loves lap time. So it will be a bit of a juggle making sure she gets enough attention after the baby gets here.
I bought a set of crib sheets and a mattress protector yesterday. I now feel like we're "ready" if the baby decides to show up early. We have a place for her to sleep and her car seat installed in one vehicle, and a supply of diapers.

@cvbee - just the last 2 days I've been getting more cramping feelings and a TON of round ligament pain just on my right side. I remember that when I went into labor with DD she was OP (facing up) and it resulted in a lot of pain in my back and on my right. I feel like it's too early for those to be related but it reminds me of that.

@mrsdaredevil - I've been obsessive about stretch marks and so far I'm in the clear. Made it through preg #1 without any and my goal is to make it through this one too! I put cocoa butter on every single day after my shower and I think I come from great genetics so that helps too.

I am so tired today I could literally curl up in a ball under my desk. I actually went and did a count of day left working just to get myself through it. I'm due 5/22 and I think my last day of work will be 5/11 so that's 33 working days. I can do it! I joked with DH that I'm actually looking forward to having the baby just so I can get a break even though I know it's not a real break. But a baby doesn't expect you to be showered and dresesed every day like a job does.

DD#1's birthday was yesterday and she had SO much fun opening presents! Grandma (MIL) sent her a Belle doll with a matching dress and she went nuts. We skyped with her so she could watch and I think it made her week!

@Mrsdaredevil: Sorry to hear they've cut your activity levels down even more No stretch marks here... although I feel like just for writing that I'll have jinxed myself!

@Nskillet: Good luck with your blood sugars this week. We have two cats and a dog. I'm not worried about our dog and one of the cats, but we do have a cat that's a little moody/a drama queen. I have a feeling she'll steer clear of the baby initially but once baby is more mobile/grabby I worry about the cat's reaction to being touched or cornered by the LO. That said, my real concern is the cats smothering the baby. They will not leave the crib or bassinet alone since we've set them up. We're going to try the tinfoil trick and if that doesn't work get the crib tents etc.

@winniebee: I hope you get your clearance for your shower! Good luck.

@MsMini: Enjoy your break from the OB! I'm dreading my appointment this morning.

I have a growth scan which I'm super excited about, followed by my bi-weekly appointment this morning (not so excited for that). I weighed myself this morning and was up 3lbs from yesterday.... what the heck?! My last appointment my weight had skyrocketed overnight too, then went back down the next day and my OB gave me a hard time about the big gain so I'm preparing myself for another lecture today... wonderful. Yesterday I was only up 24lbs @ 33 weeks, today up 27... I feel they're being a little ridiculous about this considering I have a normal BMI but know for sure its coming. I'm a little annoyed that this weigh-in is just going to solidify their feelings from my last appointment.

@LAGS: I'm mixing it up with the CD. For the newborn stage right now we only have Grovia, but plan on ordering the well-priced Lil' Joeys too. (And I registered for newborn size other diapers, but I am totally realizing that no one is buying the CD from our registry). Then for the larger babies, we have a mix of Bum Genius and Happy Heiney's so far, but have some AMPs, Fuzzibuns, and Charlie Bananas in the mail. Oh and we got some Kushies at my last shower, but honestly they are not as nice as the other kinds of cloth diapers....they feel all plastic-like on the outside.
I figure by mixing up the brands, we will get some great fits and some not-so-great. It will be just like my own underwear drawer.....first I wear the best fitting undies, and as the week goes on I resort to the less comfy ones.

@LAGS: I am shocked that your OB is giving you a hard time about your weight gain considering that you are totally in the zone. From seeing how people gain at different times too, it seems really silly to make someone feel bad about their weight when it might slow down naturally. Some people barely gain in the last month.

  34. Nskillet

    persimmon / 1099 posts

@LAGS: I feel your pain! Like we are in the end zone now and have been doing all we can weight gain/sugar wise but a few pounds/points in the wrong direction is detrimental. I don't know why I feel so sensitive but in going to go ahead and blame the hormones lol. Weirdly our cats have been good with the crib but we also can train them. You put loose change in an empty soda can and mark it with tape. If they go in the crib they get the can shook and a resounding NO! Works like a charm.

  35. Goldilocks1107

    clementine / 878 posts

@LAGS: I have a similar weight gain "routine" - no gain until right before my next appointment, then BAM 4 lbs. I figure LO likes to gain it all at once Luckily, my OB hasn't really said anything about it. But I definitely have them weigh me with my back to the scale. That way, I can look at the weight gain on my own time (they give me a sheet after each appointment, so I take them home and compare).
I'm taking this afternoon off work. Woke up with a headache, and although it's gone away I think I need some R&R. So, I'm taking myself to lunch, going shopping for some sleep tees and socks with non-skid bottoms (for the hospital), a light workout and then some quality couch time. Okay, realistically, I'll probably work on my hospital bag instead of chilling on the couch, but that's just how I roll!

Anyone else feel like they are starting to lose some lung capacity? When I first wake up in the morning it hurts a little to take a deep breath, but gets better as the day goes on.

I've been doing such a good job eating healthy for most of the pregnancy, but the last week or so all I want is junk. Had leftover pizza and some Easter candy for breakfast and am considering making a milkshake. I'm up 23 lbs at 34 weeks, so I figure I'm still on track to gain about 30!

  37. Mrs. Sunglasses

    GOLD / pomelo / 5167 posts

@duckduckkristen: I get out of breath much faster... but nothing that hurts really. Could you have a lung infection? I've been sick for 1 month so I don't know what normal or not anymore.

And I've been craving desserts and unhealthy food too. But I'm only at 8 lbs and 33 weeks (that's what happens when you are sick for 1 month )

  38. Nskillet

    persimmon / 1099 posts

@duckduckkristen: I've been wondering about lung capacity myself. I don't feel any restriction but do have some mild rib pain on occasion almost feels like a stitch/cramp. I'm a trained opera singer though and for years worked on opening/widening my diaphragm so I'm wondering if that has resulted in more room for me? Baby girl kicks/squirms and basically ends up kicking my boobs. I guess I've been waiting for rib kicks and dont know if I've had them. Does everyone get them?

  39. cvbee

    nectarine / 2039 posts

@duckduckkristen: I don't notice the lung thing, but I have definitely had rib expansion pain, so I think my ribs have just spread out to get me more lungs. However, I am majorly slower when I walk up hills and sometimes after just going up my one flight of stairs I can feel a bit of lactic acid burn (which would normally only happen to me if I did a really tough ballet barre exercise). I'm definitely getting out of shape, but maybe it's just due to carrying around an extra 25 pounds.

Today's accomplishments so far: extra long dog walk (good for my exercise), and I'm washing the baby clothes and blankets (currently washing load 2 of 3 and drying load 1). I am not yet ready to wash/prime the cloth diapers...that's for another day. And as soon as I finish typing this I am writing shower thank-you cards from my mini-shower on Friday.

@Mrsdaredevil: Everyone raves about that show - it's going on my list! We have Apple TV (you have to pay to watch) but it's an option. I might look into Netflix though, as I think it's more economical.

@cvbee: Sounds like a productive day! Washing and folding - that means baby is right around the corner!

@Goldilocks1107: Good for you for taking some time for yourself. I used to get so annoyed by people saying "take it easy!" but obviously now am a huge proponent : )

@LAGS: Can't believe your OB is giving you crap for weight gain - you are totally within normal ranges!!

@volksgirl64: Glad the bday went well - you sound like you're going a million miles a minute and mom needs a break!!

I never had the lung capacity issue or rib shots....baby has always been really low and now he seems lower. Also, this business about feeling less movement in the third trimester....not so much. He's so friekin active!

MIL is visiting this afternoon - cooking us meals for the week. She's basically a gourmet cook and I'm pretty excited : )
