@pastemoo: I'm finally coming over to the "dark side" I was on the parenting section of WB and noticed that the "newest" posts hadn't had new replies in days, so I figured it was time to start transitioning over.

Hey everyone I just posted an update under my other post - things stable just gotta get to 11 pm tonightto be out of the thick of it.

Can't post to Wb from my phone so all my updates will be here (and just here more anyways).

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and prayers - so very much appreciated
    Welcome @goldi : )

@winniebee - keeping my fingers crossed for you! A friend just delivered at 28 weeks and baby is doing well so hopefully even in the worst case, things will still be ok!

It seems like overnight everything got harder to do. I was sitting indian style with DD last night and it was uncomfortable! So was squatting to pick something up. At almost 32 weeks I probably should have expected it though.

SIL gave us a box of clothes last night (most are coming back since they were DD's) and it's going to be so fun to go through them and sort & organize them in the nursery!

@winniebee: such fantastic news! Keep up the good work mama! Slow and steady.

@goldilocks welcome to the dark side! I was posting on WB too but then couldn't from my IPAD or phone so ended up just switching here FT and occasionally stalking the old boards. I've read all your posts over there so feel like I know you!

I've officially popped into the "you're getting huge" category. Everyone has suddenly commented "wow! You're having a baby!" which I'm literally all baby! Being plus sized I think it took me longer but at almost 33 weeks their is isnt hiding now! Is anyone's baby more of a roller than kicker/puncher? Baby girl is a squirmy worm and it feels like she is majorly running out of room these days.

@Nskillet: LOL. Everyone at synagogue this week asked if I could deliver on Friday, so the bris would be on the fast of the first born, so they wouldn't have to fast. They thought I was that close to popping.
@volksgirl64: Yay, clothes! Things ARE harder to do suddenly!

    @winniebee: Good luck!

Well, I survived a hectic 2 last days of work! It had been so slow for a month, and all of a sudden the babies were being born like crazy, and the NICU went from 25% capacity to 110% capacity in hours!

We were running around like chickens with our heads chopped off. I literally only sat twice on my last shift (to pee), and the only reason I was able to eat anything was that one of my co-workers forced me to stop and eat a muffin (and I was the only one who ate anything in the 8 hours I was there). At this point, with the babies that were admitted, it will be busy like that for the next couple weeks probably, so I am actually really glad I am done.

There is no way I could maintain that pace of work any more. I got home and I was so sore/exhausted/uncomfortable. I started contracting at the end of the shift, so my body was definitely telling me to chill out (the contractions stopped as soon as I sat down in my car and relaxed a bit).

I was hoping to finish the drywall this weekend, but DH is stuck working all weekend likely (March is their busy month, they do like 30% of their production in this one month). My sister might come up next weekend to lend us a hand in drywalling/painting the nursery though. At this point, there is little chance we will finish the renos before baby is born, so we will have to dis-assemble the guest room to put the nursery together, and if people want to stay with us, it will be in unfinished rooms for a while.

    @Goldilocks1107: Welcome!

@winniebee: I hope that things stayed stable, and that you are able to continue your best rest at home! Keep that little Winnie baby cooking!

@volksgirl64: I was saying the same thing to DH last night, I am 34 weeks now, and last night, after a really busy last day at work, I felt so uncomfortable/heavy/sore! It was the first time I really felt uncomfortable in this pregnancy.

@Nskillet: I get a lot more pushes than kicks/punches! Baby has been head down for ages, with his/her back to the left and hands/feet to the right, and most of the movement is him/her pushing its little butt out and wiggling it around (it is pretty cute to think about!). I am PS as well, but I am lucky that I started showing really early, and I haven't really gained weight, so as my belly grows everything else shrinks. At the rate I am going I will leave the hospital below my pre-preg weight!

Hey all - I just posted this identical post in my other update -- so good to see you all here and thanks to my May mamas for all the love and support!

I'm home now - they discharged me last night! My contractions were random/stable without meds and my dilation was still a "soft 1 cm" last evening - meaning a little more than 1, but less than 2, so stable. A little nerve wracking to be at home and monitoring my condition on my own, but I think once I'm home for a few days and the contractions don't pick up again, I'll feel much better. I still do have contractions, but they seem pretty random and nothing like what I was having before I was admitted to the hospital. I will probably need to stay on bedrest until 36-37 weeks, depending on how I do. The first few weeks will be pretty strict and then they might let me add in more activity.

It is really nice to be home though. I have "bathroom privileges" which means I really need to be reclined/laying and can get up to use the bathroom, get a drink, and can take a quick shower a day.

This is a complete 180 from my normal life so will take some getting used to. I should be able to work from home (maybe later this week....otherwise I might go bonkers). Bryce has been absolutely amazing through this all. He's calm, positive, supportive, and taking great care of me. I feel very lucky.

31 weeks today! Crazy how I've gone back to counting every day (like first trimester).

@Nskillet: Glad you are feeling well!! Congrats on baby being so healthy and strong : ) I'm sure you look great!

@MsMini: Take it from this lady (who's husband calls her "busy bee" for how active I am...) take a break! You have had such an active pregnancy and need your rest. We can be house arrest buddies : )

@volksgirl64: That's awesome you got some great clothing!

@Goldilocks1107: Yeah I feel like I have just been double posting over there and over here, but seems like most everyone is over here now so maybe we can all just agree to post here! Hb is great b/c you can post from your phone/ipad and there is just so much more info here. Also love how you know when someone replies to your threads.

@pastemoo: I haven't gotten to check in on the Wb thread, but wondering how you're hanging in there with everything happening with the car accident/car/your hubby's friend? You feeling any better?

  12. pastemoo

    cantaloupe / 6146 posts

    @winniebee: We finally got a new car! A Prius C. It's lovely.
Still in PT for the hip pain--it's happening less often but same amount of pain. I'm a little concerned because sometimes it seems to start contractions. I get a lot, but I know I'm paranoid about it more since you've been in the hospital. Things are going ok here. We couldn't get the passport in time, so we're missing the funeral.

  13. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@pastemoo: Glad you got the new car and sorry my experience has you worried! But you are a whole week ahead of me gestationally so you have a little less to worry about. Before this experience, I was told to call my OB if my contractions were 15 mins or less apart for 2 hours; or if the contractions increased steadily in frequency/intensity. You should check w/ your OB about their guidelines, though. Sorry you weren't able to make it for the funeral. There is only so much you can do.

I forgot to ask, is anyone else feeling crampy? I've noticed lately that some nights as I'm winding down for bed I'm getting mild cramping. Last night I had that knee-jerk reaction that oh my period must be coming. My stomach isn't hard or anything while its happening and its mostly all very low. I have an appointment Tuesday and I'll ask my OB about it... but just curious to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

@winniebee: SO glad to hear youre home and have been discharged!! What a relief and crazy ordeal. Ironically enough, the same time you were put on bed rest my sister was too though hers is for blood pressure not pre-labor. I cant imagine how hard it is to slow yourself down for bed rest.

Well, this week at work I got some craptacular news. The insurance company I work for is officially selling the division I work for so I may be unemployed in the next 12-18 months depending on how the merger/aquisition goes. DH also works for the same company, but luckily for a line of business they are currently retaining. The absolute last thing I wanted to worry about when baby girl is under a year old is job hunting. Here hopes im retained by whoever buys us and that theyre a better company to work for!

    So, hi everyone!

I had my first experience with a Charlie Horse in my calf last night in the middle of the night--anyone else experience these at all? Are they related to pregnancy? I have never had one in my life until now!

  19. aunt pol

    kiwi / 525 posts

@Mrsdaredevil: You had a what in your calf?! I'm assuming that's some kind of cramp or something? I haven't actually had any, but I'm tormented with restless legs every night now, after about 9 pm until I fall asleep. It's irritating in bed, but awful if I'm up.

Winniebee - so glad things are stabilising for you!
Mini - you're definitely better off at home than trying to work shifts like that!

I'm seven months by date, today, and the discomfort is really getting noticeable now. Walking the dogs is a very slow procedure, with lots of stops! And getting out of bed, especially with a full bladder, is so ungainly its kind of funny... DH is convinced he's going to need some kind of a crane for me before May Clock is ticking now! I counted my remaining appts/scans today - consultant tomorrow, scan and consultant on 2, 16 and 30 april, then 7 and 14 May, and that's it. If I'm lucky!!!! Mad!
Anyone else beginning to feel properly big now?

    @LAGS: Thanks,
And yes, I'm feeling crampy, too.
@Nskillet: That's awful! I'll be job searching too, since we'll be moving when DH leaves the marine corps.
@Mrsdaredevil: They are related to pregnancy. I got my first one at 19 weeks, and got them weekly for awhile. Now I get them about once a day. Eww.

@Mrsdaredevil: Hellooo!!! Yes! I have gotten horrible charlie horses in both legs. The cramp is enough to shoot me up in bed and takes everything in me not to scream! The way to get rid of them is to point your toes towards the ceiling. It usually cures the cramp immediately. Some people swear by OJ, bananas and extra water too!

@auntpol yes feeling huge! Penguin waddle is in full effect.

@pastemoo doesnt it suck having to think about jobs?!

  23. MsMini

    grapefruit / 4056 posts

@winniebee: So glad to hear you are home and things are settled! We will definitely be home buddies (although at this point I am still allowed out and about as long as it isn't for too long and I am not on my feet continuously). It is hard to keep yourself occupied around the house (and I can't imagine how much harder it is on strict bed rest!

@pastemoo: I am glad to hear you got a new car! That must be a weight off of your mind! I am sorry you weren't about to get to the funeral, it is hard to be away from family during times of loss.

@LAGS: I am not crampy per se, but I have been experiencing pain in what must be my cervix. It doesn't seem like there is much tightening, but I get these stabbing pains, usually later in the day, in that area. I assume it is related to my cervix softening/shortening (I am 34 weeks now, so it is about the right time for that).

@Mrsdaredevil: Oh, the calf cramps! Yep, those are a pregnancy thing. I had some earlier one, but they have subsided now. I have heard that magnesium supplements can help, but I would check with your OB to make sure that is okay with them before starting it.

@aunt pol: I wasn't feeling that big until this weekend! All of a sudden, I looked at myself in the mirror and I just though "Holy crap, I can't believe that I have 3-6 weeks to go!". Also when I was running errands yesterday I was getting a lot of looks, so I think it is plainly obvious that this belly is large and in charge!

    nectarine / 2039 posts

@Mrsdaredevil: I had super bad leg cramps in the middle of last week....days I was on my feet more, I think. I have now tried to train myself to stretch in bed with my foot flexed as soon as I am waking in the middle of the night. I haven't had the feeling this weekend so I think I'm out of it. People also say it's from not drinking enough water.

@aunt pol: I took my dog walk with my husband today and it made me really realize how slow I'm walking. I don't even feel winded or anything, but I just can't go fast, especially uphill.

I'm also big enough that everyone we meet on the walk says something about the baby. And they are a bit surprised that I'm not due sooner than May 1st by the looks of me.

  26. duckduckkristen

    clementine / 959 posts

@LAGS: I've been feeling mildly crampy usually a little in the evening since about 18 weeks. It never gets bad, but it happens pretty much daily, especially if I've had a busy day.

@winniebee: Great to hear you are home and I hope things go well!

I think my baby just grows every 3 or 4 weeks. haha. All of a sudden I feel big, then don't get any bigger for a few weeks, then bam, I look huge! Well, huge to me… I'm tall and haven't gained a lot of weight so most people can't even tell I'm pregnant until I tell them, unless I wear something tight on my belly. Considering I'm due in 6 1/2 weeks, I feel like I should be much bigger!

  27. LAGS

    clementine / 916 posts

@Mrsdaredevil: Owch I've been getting these too. Its weird that a few of us all started getting them generally around the same time.

@aunt pol: I don't think my dog is impressed with my new, slower pace. She always gets ahead and looks back as if to say "well, are you coming?!"

@duckduckkristen: I swear its the same for me. I go for weeks feeling/looking the same, then its like I'll wake up one day and everything is fitting tighter, larger and getting in the way in some way I hadn't noticed before!

@winnie: Glad to hear you're back home! Hopefully bed rest won't be so boring!

@mrsdaredevil: YES, leg cramps are the worst. I had one the other night and jumped out of bed like I was on fire; scared DH! I always walk on them to make it go away quickly.

@nskillet: crossing my fingers that everything works out for you! If it makes you feel better, I was laid off in November and JUST got hired, with 8 weeks to go! They're going to hold the position for me until July so I can have mat. leave and then get to work.

Nursery painting is finally done so we'll put everything together this week, just in time for DD's 3rd birthday party on Saturday. Crazy. This party will be the last big thing I do pre-baby, except for a wedding on May 5th.

DD goes to Big Sister class in 2-3 weeks and I'm excited for that too. She's really good with our niece, but it's different knowing the baby will be with us full time.

Hi Ladies - I am migrating over here from WB as well. I have been reading HB for a while but this is my first post. I like the posts on here so much better lately, it just seems a little more, um, how to say this nicely - mature and relevant to pregnancy/childcare. I also like that there are other NYC ladies on the boards.

Winniebee - so sorry to hear about your ordeal, but happy things seem to be going well with your contractions slowing down. Have they thought about anti-contraction medication or suggesting taking anything homeopathic?

MsMini - I know it is hard to enjoy modified bedrest, but your job makes me tired just hearing about it so I hope you can enjoy the time to relax and nest before your baby is here.

Everything is good here. Having my shower next weekend which I am looking forward to. Baby is still breech at 33 weeks, but we won't be discussing anything until I see my doctor in two weeks. Hoping she turns on her own before then! And we had a baby care/infant CPR and breastfeeding class today. It was a little boring only because I have been reading about these topics for months now on my own, but I think my husband found it interesting so that was good.

Hope everyone else has an easy and uneventful week with all these May babies staying put for now!

What is funny is that I spend VERY little time on my feet because of my high BP and muscle issues, and yesterday I was on my feet a lot because it was my family baby shower. A bunch of my family came down from Canada, and ended up staying until 11:45 at night! It was a super long day and very draining (I had a lot of socializing and mingling to do) and sure enough, last night was when I ended up with the calf cramps! I am sure they had something to do with each other.

The shower was great though. Most of the family was from out of the country so I didn't really get much off my registry, but I got lots of baby books which is great--I didn't have any--and lots of cute little things like hand knitted blankets and sweaters.
My mom gave me some outfits that were mine when I was a baby. They are still in great condition and I can't wait to put them on my little girl!
I also got this hat...it has to be one of my favorite baby gifts of all time!

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/82969748/baby-girl-hat-pom-pom-beanie-hat-infant?ref=sr_gallery_2&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=baby+girl&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_ship_to=US&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade

Now, all my showers are done and it's time to get everything organized in the nursery! I have lots of duplicates that need returning and gift cards to use... looks like a trip to BRU is in order!

  31. cvbee

    nectarine / 2039 posts

@Mrsdaredevil: whoa! that hat is soooooo cool!

I had another mini-shower this weekend. No one is buying off the registry at all. Looks like we're going to end up buying all the cloth diapers ourselves. Oh well.

If you want to take a peek on weddingbee, I posted a pic of our change area set-up, which we are doing in the pack and play.

@MrsDaredevil: I agree that the on-the-feet thing is related to the leg cramps.

Looks like no one needs a supply teacher today so I'll be off my feet. I do need to do some cleaning for this upcoming weekend as my best friend and my Mom are coming to stay with us for my baby shower.

@Mrsdaredevil: That had is so sweet! Good luck with your returns etc. hopefully it goes smoothly - I was worried about having to do that especially considering no one gave gift receipts. It's funny how so many of us have ties to Canada.

@cvbee: That little diaper is the cutest thing I've ever seen!! Ahh... I can just imagine a squishy little baby pouring out of it. I so need to buy diaper covers until I have the guts to go cloth!

@Nskillet: I've got a roller in my belly too - along with some rib kicks. But it seems like when she wants to change position, she wants to change it up completely!
@aunt pol: I've definitely crossed into the "I feel huge" arena. I think I'm in the process of officially losing my waistline. I guess I should be glad it stuck around for 32 weeks?
I'm having lots of restless leg issues lately - I feel like they just need to jerk spontaneously and it's really uncomfortable! And I'm have a dull ache in my lower back since Saturday. Similar to a pre-period backache.
    So. Ready. To. Be. Done.

Think I am officially crossing over from the WB side--these boards seem much more active.

@cvbee: I love your organization! Wish I could convince DH to cloth diaper, but he is adamantly against it and I don't think I can push the issue any more.
@Goldilocks1107: OMG, I think I have restless feet! The past two days my feet have felt so weird, like I need to shake something out of them but nothing happens. They're jerky too!

I just got back from an OB appointment. Good news: my glucose scan came back normal! WOO HOO! More good news: My 24 urine collection for protein came back normal too--that means no pre-eclampsia!!! I was actually super worried that it was going to come back positive, but PTL (praise the Lord) it's normal.

Most of you who have been on the WB thread know that i have had problems with my abnominal muscles. They're still as hard as a rock and not giving baby much room to grow toward the top of my stomach. Well, doctor did an ultrasound today just to check on the baby's position and it looks like she has already dropped and is ready to come out... most likely due to my weirdly tight muscles. Doctor asked me to limit my activity even more--no housework, no grocery store runs etc. She said I can leave the house if I am going somewhere to sit down, like to a coffee shop with a friend or something. She thinks any sort of physical activity could cause me to go into labor. There is a possibility of early induction in case baby runs out of room to grow, but that wouldn't be until 36 weeks or after. **happy dance** I was really terrified of having a preemie for a while!

  36. cvbee

    nectarine / 2039 posts

@Mrsdaredevil: Yay! What a good-news appointment. Sorry about the more restrictions on your bedrest, but the end is in sight!

Today a few times (starting last night) I've felt a little bit like period cramps down there, way down where the period cramps would normally be. I'm thinking maybe baby is dropping down? I'm 35 weeks tomorrow, so I'm getting out of the 'worried about a preemie' zone, which is such a relief. At the same time, I'm really excited to have the baby and can't wait to have him. I'll probably be one of those gals who doesn't deliver until like 42 weeks....I'm so impatient.

I think we can all just post to hello, but we'll have to use WB for photos still.....I heart the bump shots, so keep those coming, and photos from your showers and of your baby stuff would be fun too. When will HB get the add-photo option?!

Looks like no elective section for me:(
Had a consultant appt today and decided it was high time we started discussing the end game. I told her my concerns about emergency sections and how, since nobody can guarantee I won't need one, (especially with twins) it seemed more sensible to go straight to section. Nope. My weight is an issue- increased risk of complications from surgery, blood clots etc, enough so that she doesn't want me to have a section unless it's absolutely necessary. Boo. If I put the foot down and insist, they'll do it, but hey- they're the experts. I want whatever gets me and the babas out of there safe and well.
The bright side of the appt was that the babas are fine, I got to see my glucose results- perfect- and I'll be seeing the anaesthetic team and a lactation consultant on the 16/17th, so things are ticking along. And I got weighed- I'm approx 2lb heavier, at 30 weeks, than I was pre-pregnancy, so I seem to be headed for being a good bit lighter this June than last. I'll take my unexpected good side effect, thanks!

@Mrsdaredevil: Good news on the glucose test! That's a big relief. I do get the leg cramps as well. I try to have at least one banana a day though and that seems to be helping.

Sucks to hear about more restrictions on the bed rest, but hopefully that will keep the baby cooking a while longer.

@cvbee: I am loving the organized baby changing station! What an excellent idea.

@winniebee: Happy to hear you are back home! It sounds like you will have more of us keeping you company these days. I'm not on bed rest, but I'm not working and when I am not cleaning or walking the dogs, I am super bored.

@Goldilocks1107: I am ready to be done as well! I obviously don't want to deliver yet, but I want time to move faster than it is.

I am 35 weeks tomorrow, and had an OB appt today. The nurse has been weighing me with me facing away from the number on the scale. I am so scared to find out how much I weigh! I know it is at least 40. If it isn't at least that, I will be shocked. They said I am on track though.

I had the Strep B test done today which was no big deal. He did another internal and he said that the cervix is closed, so baby is still happily cooking. I now see the OB every week until it is time to deliver.

I'm feeling alright these days. I go from feeling super awake to exhausted several times a day. It's too hot now to wear my maternity clothes. I went to Target yesterday to get some larger sized tank tops (long and lean Mossimo tanks....they are the best). My yoga pants that I've been living in are slowly getting too small on me, but I hope I can deal with it for another month.

I am having one of those days where I am amazed at how quickly time seems to be passing. This baby will be here before I know it! My shower, though it is at 37 weeks, seems like it is coming up so fast, and I am SO excited. My Mom told me that my RSVP numbers have been really good, all the in town people we invited are making it, and a few of the out-of-towners (which was surprising to me - I only put them on the list to avoid hurt feelings, and didn't expect anyone to actually make the trip!).

I have been having daily sharp pains in my cervix area, I assume it is softening going on, but I will find out next monday when I have my GBS test and first internal. I am happy to have gotten this week off of doctors appointments though (I feel like I have been at the OB 24/7 lately, and it is so nice to have a break before I hit the weekly checks again).

I got some stuff done around the house yesterday while DH was at work (he is having his busy time at work, and is working 12 hour days on weekends and 16 hour days during the week until at least this coming saturday). I am hoping to get the house generally shaped up and tidied, so when DH is off next we can concentrate on finishing the drywall and getting the nursery started and finished.

Also, my sister is thinking she might come up this weekend or next to help us with out renos and nursery stuff, which would be awesome and a welcome distraction to have her and her puppy around the house!

@Mrsdaredevil: Glad to hear you got some good news, but sorry that you are having your activity limited even more. You have definitely had a long haul with this pregnancy!

@cvbee: Getting near the end is such a good feeling! Every day I am closer to 37 weeks makes me so happy (our cutoff for babies having mandatory NICU stays for prematurity is 37 weeks, even at 36 6/7 days they need to be brought to NICU for 24 hours minimum for observation). I wish HB had a way to post photos, it would make it so much easier to transition to here fully.

@aunt pol: I am sorry you that you aren't getting the section you wanted. There is still a change one of the little bugs won't be head down, so you will get your section! If I was having twins I would want to opt for a section as well! Congrats on your glucose results.

@marriedandlovingit: I know my next appointment I will have the GBS swab and first internal as well, glad to hear your baby is still happily cooking for now. I have been really tired lately as well, I end up sleeping in, then taking naps throughout the day. I feel so unproductive most of the time.

I have been slowly but surely getting stretch marks on my hips. They have spread a lot! I have about three on each side. But just today I noticed them on my lower back....weird!!!! Its sort of depressing but I guess inevitable since my mom has them. Anyone else starting to see some of the ugly little thing?
