    @pastemoo: it was really nice!! But 4 days later I feel like I need another one!! I felt shy asking the therapist to massage harder but next time (if there is a next time) I will.

    At 20.5 wks (with an anterior placenta) I can finally feel baby boy every day. He is getting so strong - it is so bizarre and cool. Felt some kicks on the outside tonight after I had some chocolate (apparently that gets him going!)

    Got a crib and dresser and started a registry last weeken so feeling much more organized.
    How's everyone else doing?

    @cvbee: I totally think I need to get an exercise ball. My back is killing me tonight! I tried a few different positions to stretch it out, but they aren't helping much!

    @winniebee: I definitely will be getting my OB to write me a prescription for prenatal massage (with a doctors note they are fully covered under my insurance). My back is killing me tonight! I am glad to hear you are feeling more organized!

    Mind if I join you guys? I'm due April 18th, but the April board isn't too active and I need some pregnant pals

    @MsMini: I didn't even think to check w/ insurance! I doubt it's covered here though, but worth checking!

    @jennylynn: OF course! Welcome : )

    I've noticed that the baby is usually pretty quiet when I am having a tired day. Yesterday I was exhausted and I barely felt him move. Today I feel good again and he is moving a bunch. Has anyone else noticed a similar pattern?

  6. jennylynn

    persimmon / 1134 posts

    @marriedandlovingit: I def. notice there are some days that she's more active than others, but I haven't really been able to figure out a specific pattern. I know I feel her less when I'm really busy or active, but I think that's just because I'm not as focused on my belly.

    @winniebee : Thanks!

    @winniebee: Glad to hear... I should sign up.
    @MsMini: COVERED? That's awesome!!
    @jennylynn: Welcome!

    As for me, I'm a negative Nancy of the group. Just found out by getting a print out of my test results that they told me the wrong test result for a genetic screening. Well. TODAY I am figuring out how to change insurance, so I can start ASAP with a civilian facility and a civilian doctor.

    ANNNNND in good news... saw baby kick from OUTSIDE this week and I'm much more excited about baby now. More exciting that the ultrasound actually. Yay!

    @pastemoo aim sorry for all the doctor drama! Im glad youre moving on to care that you are more comfortable with! Ack! Baby kick from the outside how amazing!!

    At nearly 23 weeks Im beginning to feel baby girl more and more but am a Plus sized mama and unsure if Ill see her kick from the outside. If I do, I know itll be much later.

    DH and I have had such a productive weekend so far! We are completely registered and our nursery is painted!! We still have to do the trim and some other major work in there but its a really good start. We went with a really lovely disney color by behr One Enchanted Evening. Its this marvelous fun purple color

    We also just interviewed 2 daycares and have selected one of the two! Very close to our house and convinient and fairly priced. Can anyone tell Im a preplanner? LOL

    How is everyone else doing/feeling?

  9. pastemoo

    cantaloupe / 6146 posts

    @Nskillet: I'm sure you'll see her! Right now all I see is my tummy moving in ways that are not normal like in an alien movie spoof. I can't tell what it is (head, foot, butt...) that's pushing out, but I can tell that my belly is moving outward on it's own. It's cool.

    I registered today and figured out what travel system we want (go me! husband was TOTALLY not interested even though he's the one that wants a stroller--I want to baby wear or just use the car seat). It was kind of stressful, but also a really big relief to feel like I'm actually *doing* something.

    Anyone else choose a "mini" crib? I saw the "regular" size cribs and I could fit ME in them! Not a baby, but a full grown ME! So, I decided on the mini one and now I'm realizing it might be really hard to find sheets and everything. My hubby said he'd help with sewing the bigger sheets smaller because we don't have the space for a huge crib anyway. (He's cute!)

    @pastemoo: Yeah, in Canada, since our health care is covered by taxation, our health insurance covers things like prescriptions, massage, physio, chiropractor, dental, vision etc. Me and DH both pay into our health insurance, so we have 100% coverage of all that kind of stuff. We use way more than we pay every year, thats for sure! We pay about 300 per month (between both plans), and my claims last year were over double that.

    @marriedandlovingit: My little guy is most active at night, between about midnight and 2 am. I haven't noticed much of a day to day difference though.

    @Nskillet: That was a productive weekend. I am working nights all weekend, so DH is installing whatever drywall he can manage by himself into our basement rooms. We are hoping to be done putting up drywall next weekend maybe, then we can get quotes on mud/taping and hopefully get those rooms done by mid-feb, so we can move the stuff out of the nursery and get started on that!

    @MsMini: That is so cool! My insurance covers vision, dental and medical. I wish it covered massage and chiropractor! I've never even seen a chiropractor because it is prohibitively expensive.

    Gonna be an awesome nursery! I can't wait to own a place and build too.

    @pastemoo: I never heard of mini-cribs, but honestly when DH and I set up the crib last weekend that's exactly what our reaction was: "this is huge!" "we could put 4 babies in there!". And we tried to imagine how large of a bed we would have if proportionally we had a bed that much bigger than us. (Even considering for example the size of a 2 year old).

    Here is the mini crib we picked. It's not much smaller. In fact the whole thing is the same width as a regular crib, but it includes the dresser set. We're going to home make a changing pad to fit on top (very limited space!)

    The length is 42" instead of 57" I think... or something similar, it's 27" deep and regular height. It looks like the size I expected all cribs to be.

    I was joking with my dad that the cribs are huge because we're in the suburbs and everyone has lots of space. So he joked--get your crib in NYC it should be much more space efficient!

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

    @pastemoo: we got a conertible crib but wanted one under 50x 30 bc some of them seemed huge! Glad you are looking into new INS. You have had so much ob drama!!

    @Nskillet: Productive weekend for you!! We are working on the room at the end of Feb. The room is already painted tan and we are not repainting. Lots of furniture moving to do though. We have picked a daycare too I just need to put a deposit down.

    Enjoying a lazy afternoon during a long weekend. Dinner out tonight with hubs. Baby boy has been very active this afternoon. Apparently he likes it when I loaf on the couch

    @pastemoo:

    We got a Pali crib (Imperia) and dresser (Salreno) - both in Mocchachino - the crib is here (it's a covertable and my parents got it for us!) The crib is 54 x 29.5 (depth mattered more than width for us)

    I have an interesting observation - isn't it odd how you go from wanting a bump so badly to feeling self conscious about it? Or, at least I have. The other day my best friend told me that I looked "30 weeks pregnant" and I'm only 21 weeks! She meant it in a good way and said I'm "all belly" but then I felt weird about looking so big! And at the gym I feel like people are staring at me. I still am embracing it, but thought it was interesting that over the span of a month I was wishing for the bump but now thinking OK please stay this size (not really, but you know what I mean?)

    I had my 24 week OB appointment today.I found out that the ultrasound tech didn't get great views of both kidneys, the heart, and the sacrum, which is why I am going for a repeat scan next week. Apparently what they *could* see looked normal, but being my OB is a perinatology specialist, she wants to be 100% sure.

    I am measuring 28 at 24 1/2 weeks, so still measuring on the big side, but she is happy because it has stayed consistent. She did mention today that I shouldn't count on still being pregnant in May, considering that I routinely measure large for dates. She wanted to wait for the next ultrasound to see how the size shapes up based on weight and length, but she said we may have to monitor the size of the baby closely as we get closer to term.

    Babies heart rate was 150 today, which is consistent for him/her as well. All in all pretty good. I have my prescription for prenatal massages, so I will be booking one ASAP. I also have the requisition for my glucose tolerance test, I will be going in for that at 26 weeks, so in 2 weeks time. I am going straight to the 2 hour test (on my own request as it is more definitive for gestational diabetes).

    @winniebee: awesome crib/dresser! And LOL at wanted and not wanting and wanting and not wanting to show.

    @MsMini: Will it be fun to see baby again and do a second ultrasound? Don;t worry about due date April/May whatever. It'll be awesome either way.
    Good luck on the GD test.

    @winniebee: I feel exactly like you describe. I actually wrote about it on my blog awhile back. I'm really happy to be pregnant and everything, but the body changes are hard to deal with. Especially when people tell you how BIG you are already. I feel like I'm going to be massive by the end of the 40 weeks!

  22. MsMini

    grapefruit / 4056 posts

    @pastemoo: Yeah, another ultrasound will be fun, I am always nervous because I so badly want to stay team green, and I am terrified to get a peak at the gender! This one coming up will be my 7th ultrasound so far this pregnancy, so there have been a lot! I am anxious to see what percentile baby is in now (since I am measuring so big still).

    @MsMini: An April baby sounds good too! Would she induce you in April if necessary?

    I am going to sleep so well tonight! I am tired from not sleeping very well last night. My little man kept waking me up with his kicking haha! As tired as I am, I don't mind it one bit as I would much rather feel him kick me than not. It's such reassurance, and I need it bc I am such a worrier.

  24. MsMini

    grapefruit / 4056 posts

    @marriedandlovingit: I do think she would induce if she thought the baby was getting too big. As far as OB's at the hospital go, she is the most cautious, and extremely considered with mom and baby welfare, so she will do whatever needs to be done to get the best mom and baby outcome (even if that means a c-section due to baby size - which I would be okay with as well).

    So just wondering if gender affects breast growth? Im having a girl and while Ive experienced some fullness but no huge boom in growth...thoughts?

  26. jennylynn

    persimmon / 1134 posts

    @Nskillet: That's interesting. I'm having a girl also, and I had to buy new bras in a size up, but I was kind of pushing the limits on them before anyways. I haven't had any huge growth either.

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

    @MsMini: I'm glad you had a good appointment! Sounds like baby is growing big and strong ; )

    @jennylynn: I don't get why people feel the need to say, "wow you are HUGE!" Like common sense?

    @marriedandlovingit: I love the kicks too! I have an anterior placenta and am a little farther behind everyone else (21.5 weeks) so I don't think I feel it as much as others. But I do feel him every day - a handful of kicks during the day and he's usually pretty active after dinner or when I'm lounging around.

    @pastemoo: Thanks! We wanted something simple and not very big...I'm surprised we agreed on something so quickly : )

  30. jennylynn

    persimmon / 1134 posts

    @winniebee: I know! I think it's so rude. There's this guy at work that always comments on how big I am, if I'm having twins, blah blah blah. Well, the other day he said "How long do you have to go? You're soooo not going to make it!" Ummm, really? Number 1, thanks for implying that I'm so big already that I'll burst before then, and number 2. I don't want my baby to come before she's due and ready so thanks for that vote of confidence. Ass.

    @jennylynn: What a douche! Why does our pregnancy somehow become everyone's business?

    I went to the OB today. I got a thumbs up on everything which is always a great feeling. Our little guy has a strong 152 heartbeat.

    I have gained 19 lbs as of today (25 weeks), and my Dr is the least bit concerned about it. I say that I don't care about the weight gain, but before pregnancy my weight would fall off with minimal effort. Now it is the opposite. It's amazing, really.

    I told him about passing out on Friday after my shower. He didn't seem concerned about it either. He said just to simply avoid the long, hot showers.

    I have the glucose test in a month. Yippee!! I have the fruit punch flavored crap to chug before I go in for the test.

  32. jennylynn

    persimmon / 1134 posts

    @marriedandlovingit: Idk but it's seriously annoying! I take my glucose test next wednesday. I'm pretty nervous! I picked the orange drink.

  33. duckduckkristen

    clementine / 959 posts

    @marriedandlovingit: I always get light headed after taking a shower, so I switched to taking baths for awhile. Upping my salt intake also helped, since I drink so much water that it all gets flushed out of my system.

    I also really hate people commenting on the size of my belly and boobs. Not their business!!

  34. pastemoo

    cantaloupe / 6146 posts

    @Nskillet: I'm having a boy and I've gone up 4 cups. Super gross.
    @marriedandlovingit: Interesting. I often wonder was does worry the doctor's. Pregnancy is so weird because all these bizarre symptoms are "normal" I'm glad you're ok!
    @jennylynn: Good luck on your glucose test!

    I schedule my glucose test at my next appt on the 31st. I'm curious if I should show up having fasting for some amount of time since I really don't have time/desire to go back for a lab test
    .@duckduckkristen: I get dizzy from showering too but I was associating it with being tired (I shower before bed) so I didn't think of it being from the shower. Interesting.
    Yeah, 4 more months of people commenting on our bodies, and then hopefully after that all the commenting will be on our babies.

    kiwi / 525 posts

    @pastemoo - yeah once the babies are here they'll get all the comments, people will be quiet about the body then, good or bad:)

  36. jennylynn

    persimmon / 1134 posts

    @pastemoo: I'm trying to decide if I should eat before I go also. I've read some places to eat normally, others say eat high protein no sugar, and others say fast. My doctor just said do what I want but use common sense. Like don't eat pancakes with syrup before. I just really want to avoid getting false results. I think I might eat a couple of eggs an hr before I drink the stuff. I'm afraid it'll make me sick if I drink all that sugar on an empty stomach.

    duckduckkristen: what?! people actually comment on your boobs? That's beyond rude!

  37. aunt pol

    kiwi / 525 posts

    Just in case this is useful or interesting to any of you. I got v specific instructions for my glucose test, which is on 12th march. Fast from midnight the night before- complete fast, not even a mouthful of water or chewing gum. Also not to eat a heavy meal that evening. Then, Show up at 8.15 am for 1st blood draw, then a measured amount of lucozade (lucky me, no weird tasting stuff for it here), 2nd blood draw after 1hour, 3rd after 1 more hour. Then they run you with strict instruction to go get breakfast!

    That seems to be the standard version of the test here, it's exactly as detailed in the leaflet they give out in our info pack.

  38. aunt pol

    kiwi / 525 posts

    @duckduckkristen: Yeah I think I'd be hugely offended if anyone commented on the size of my boobs, the belly comments are intrusive enough!

  39. duckduckkristen

    clementine / 959 posts

    @jennylynn: Yes, I've gotten a lot of "oh you don't look pregnant at all except that your boobs are HUGE!" I'm tall, so my belly isn't very big yet, but I've gone up 2 bra sizes. It is rather awkward when people make comments like that, even though it's all friends and family, not strangers, but still, it's not like I'm showing them off or anything.

  40. pastemoo

    cantaloupe / 6146 posts

    @aunt pol: Why is the test not until March 12? I thought they test at 26 weeks-ish.
    Huh. Thanks for the instructions. I think mine is at 3 PM, so I'll have to figure something else out--of course mine also isn't the 3 hour one.
    @duckduckkristen: people are so weird!
