@mrsog: @skipra: It's certainly not easy, but I'm hoping the extra weight gets things moving along!
@Mae: I couldn't imagine doing yoga right now, good for you!

Hi ladies - just a little update on us. It's 1:30 here now and I just got checked for the first time since starting the pit. No progress it's maybe only been the last hour that things have gotten pretty intense, though. My dr said she could break A's water if I wanted but I declined. Maybe later if I feel like I'm really progressing? We had talked about the risks of breaking the water too early, especially for a first time mom, at my last appointment so I'm just going to keep on with the pitocin and see what happens. I'll keep you all updated!

Thanks all for the continued good thoughts! My dr tried twice to get a foley bulb placed to try to get my cervix dilating some more, but she just couldn't get it around Alice's huge head which is low and engaged. She did strip my membranes though to try to get things picking up. (FYI - not painful at all after whatever she was doing with that foley bulb! Did cause a lot of bleeding though) My contractions are much worse and closer together (every 2-2.5 min) but my pit was turned off because of an emergency on the floor so we're starting over with a low dose again.

@Honeygold89: @Mae: Thanks ladies! I'm still on a low dose of pitocin since starting over after the emergency down the hall, but my contractions are very strong. My nurse thinks my body has gotten the message and is doing this mostly without the pit now. Still definitely not in active labor though!

So I've spent the past few days buying a bunch of stuff for Fiona's newborn shoot (FTM + photog is a dangerous combo I tell ya... lol) and I just binged on pinterest newborn pictures and OMG I cannot believe I'm going to have one of those soon.

Like, I know we're having a baby. But sometimes it really hits me. We're having one of THOSE. Soon!

Gahhhh having a super bouncy excitement moment. Just so pumped to meet her

@Mae: This sounds really stupid and potentially awful, but I have been looking at baby boy newborn pics lately, I am reallllly trying to get my head wrapped around boy, and struggling visualizing myself with a boy!! I know once real life happens and babes is here, this stupidity will go away, but I just can't picture it!!

lol on newborn shoot, I assume you will be doing it?!

There are a few shots from pinterest I'd like to try for, but to have actual newborn shots done by pro are like $750 around here and I just cannot swallow that aaaat all.

@Beebug: Makes sense since you've only had a girl! And yes, I'll be doing the posed newborn pics. I'm slightly nervous bc I've heard it is harder to do your own baby than others because the baby tends to be harder to pose for moms than strangers. But none of my local photog friends do the posed pics like I do so I"m going to go for it anyways and hope for the best! I'm going to hire our wedding photog to do a lifestyle shoot for us so we can be in some of the pics too-- but since those don't have to be done in the first 2 weeks like posed pics do I think I'm going to wait until later this summer when she's a bit more alert and I'm looking a bit better for that.

Also, I called BRU warranty peeps today because our baby monitor screen (no video, but shows room temp, volume, etc) crapped out with #1, even after we replaced it once through manufacturers warranty, we are now onto the BRU warranty we paid for. They don't send us a new one, but we just go to store, buy a new one (any brand) and they reimburse us for original price of first one. We haven't used her monitor since last summer or so, her room isn't out of range to hear her, and I slept badly with the buzz of the monitor. If we spend more we pay the difference (fair) and I am half considering a video monitor this time. DH and I are in DDs room a lot in the night checking her, and have woken her, I feel silly even wanting one and wonder if that would even slow us down on physically checking, but I just feel this temptation to get one!

@Beebug: well we haven't used ours yet obviously (other than to f with our cats, which has been hilarious) but I our video monitor. we mounted it on the wall and i'm very impressed with the quality of the video even in darkness. Nursery is pretty far from our bedroom so I know I'll appreciate being able to check in without having to climb stairs.

@Mae: The posed pics are crazy, some scare me, haha! I love the most, but some go too far for me! I really want to crochet (or at this point, buy, lol) a cocoon for this kiddo as I think those are really cute pics!

  20. Beebug

@Mae: Which one do you have?!

  21. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Beebug: I don't do any hanging baby pics! I also don't balance them on things. And almost always the ones you see of babies balancing their heads up on their hands or something are composite shots. That's not safe to try to do without supporting their heads. I don't have any cocoons but I went a bit crazy this week buying stretch and cheesecloth wraps, plus basket stuffers and a romper and also a pixie hat... Was just too easy to justify bc I can keep them to use for future clients haha

    ETA: This monitor- http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SEW-3037W-Wireless-Monitor-Infrared/dp/B00A4K8FX0/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=35407PGPX3620&coliid=I3DDHMC377739P

Sorry I keep clogging up the May board with my updates! Just wanted y'all to know I was checked again and was a "roomy three" - progress! I let the dr break my water and the contractions already feel a lot different. The best part though is that my dr changed my orders so I could eat! Well, mostly drink. I got some juice, jello and chicken broth. You would think she told me she was bringing me filet minon and lobster I was so excited. I'm getting cut off at midnight, but until them it's all you can eat strawberry jello. Woo hoo! ( although I found that after not eating from 4:30 am to 10 pm, a little juice, broth and jello was more than enough to fill me up!)

@Beebug: we have a foscam camera so technically not a monitor but works the same and we love! I don't think they sell them at BRU but highly recommend something with a video function.

@Beebug: Sounds like a great night! We just got back from a date afternoon. Went to see the new spiderman movie and went out to lunch. Was really nice Only issue was baby girl did not appreciate the loud noises/vibrations of the theater and she gave me quite a pummeling lol.

DH asked me today if he's supposed to update "the bees" on everything that's happening while I focus on labor. He's been seeing me follow @twodoghouse. Lol. Such a nice suggestion though I could tell from his face he was hoping the answer would be No. I'll try to keep up with the updates, as long as I'm not all hunched over with pain.
