Oh my, I missed so much over here over the weekend!
@Beebug: Yikes, what a mess with your MIL. I hope things are better with LO#2 since you've been through it once before!
My in-laws are great and very supportive/helpful without being overbearing. I hope it stays that way once the babies come! They are 45 minutes away which is perfect for them to come visit easily, but not have to spend the night. On the flip side, my parents live across the country. When they come up to visit they usually stay for a week or two. I am hopeful that they will be able to be helpful, not a hindrance, when the babies arrive. I guess if my mom starts to get on my nerves I can tell her to go visit my sister or one of my aunts!
This weekend really kicked my butt. I think I overdid it yesterday - we went to an outdoor humane society fundraiser in the afternoon. It was really sunny and warm, which left me dehydrated. I spent all evening trying to drink as much water as I could without puking. Today I'm just feeling awful and tired. Off to such a lovely start to the week. I have another appointment on Wednesday, though, so I will just look forward to that!

@twodoghouse: sucks to start the week off feeling icky! I am actually feeling okay-ish today but yesterday was rough. I shot a wedding on Saturday (my last scheduled one of this pregnancy, thank God I'm not pregnant over the summer) and it was just rough. Aside from being on my feet all day, my back was killing me from carrying all my gear and I was dehydrated, as I ALWAYS am while shooting bc I can't drink enough to keep up with the running around. Then I couldn't sleep Sat night due to my back hurting and ended up getting up for the day about 5:20am. On a Sunday. Boo. lol But after a pretty lazy day yesterday (physically, anyways), I feel mostly okay today. So hopefully you'll be okay tomorrow!

@Mae: thanks for adding me to the list. Just a quick update, we are now down to 3 babies.
Oddly enough, i feel super relieved about the loss, because the mental stress of having 4 babies at once was beginning to show on both DH and i. And I'm super glad i didn't have to make the dreaded decision to reduce.
My due date remains the same, and i was able to see all remaining 3 babies moving around at the ultrasound. It was inexplicably CUTE
papaya / 10343 posts
@Apex: I'm so glad that things worked out so that you're feeling more comfortable with the babies you're having, and that they look great!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Apex: It's great to hear an update from you. I'm sorry about your loss, but I'm so happy that you're feeling good about your triplets! You don't have to share additional details if you don't want to, but I was wondering if your babies are all fraternal or if two (or more) were identical? I assumed going from 3 embryos to 4 babies meant one egg split, but I wasn't really sure how that worked. Are your three in separate sacs with separate placentas?
@Mae: I cannot imagine how exhausted you were after shooting a whole wedding on Saturday!! What a champ. I'm glad your wedding shoots are over for now though!
apricot / 365 posts
@Apex: 3 babies is still super amazing! I can't even imagine....
@Mae: I planted flowers for like 1 hour this weekend and literally felt like I was going to have a stroke. Crazy how exhausted we get with a baby the size of an olive or whatever.
We hung out with DH's best friend and his wife yesterday, and found out she's due May 2, which I'm really excited about. They already have plans to find out gender on November 11th at a 3d ultrasound place. I'm totally jealous because I doubt I'll find out until late Dec or Jan. I asked DH if we could go to the ultrasound place, which charges $95, and he said no way.
papaya / 10343 posts
@twodoghouse: Thanks! I feel badly about being so relieved to be done with weddings for now, because I truly love doing them. But it's just really physically hard on me right now!
@whodat: wait, what?! she'll only be like 15 weeks then. They can tell that early?? It might be worth $100 to me to find out early if I could! lol I just didn't think there was any way to know until 18+ weeks?
clementine / 770 posts
@twodoghouse: one of them had initially split into 2 and i assumed those would have been identical. But now all 3 officially fraternal.
apricot / 365 posts
@Mae: She says she'll be 16 weeks then but maybe she's rounding up. They found out super early with their first too. The website of the ultrasound place says they can determine gender starting at 17 weeks, which for me would be Dec 3rd.
papaya / 10343 posts
@whodat: I only knew because she's only 2 days ahead of me. so she'll be 15w3d. Seems risky to pay the money when they say they can't determine gender until 17 weeks! I am going to try to schedule my anatomy scan closer to 18 than 20 weeks. I hit 18 weeks on December 1 so fingers crossed I find out that week some time!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Apex: That's great that they are all fraternal! Must be a relief to know that you won't have to worry about TTTS or shared sacs going forward.
@whodat: Wow, lucky friend finding out so soon what gender she's having. Although I'd be worried like @Mae: said about spending the money and then not being able to find out! I am just hoping we find out before Christmas!
apricot / 365 posts
@Mae: Girl this place has web streaming and party packages http://www.firstlooknola.com/ultrasoundpackages.html Craziness. Last time my OB picked the date for my anatomy scan, and I was almost 22 weeks and pissed because it seemed like most people find out before that. At my next visit I'm going to talk to her about doing it at 18 weeks. I'm either like, I don't want to find out at all, or I wanna know now!
papaya / 10343 posts
@whodat: Yea I forgot to ask last time about it. My OB booked all of my appointments through April already, but the anatomy scan is not done at her office it is done at another specialty location so I have to book that separately. I'm going to ask at my appointment next week when I'm allowed to call and set up that appointment and if it can be for week 18 because zomg impatient.
apricot / 365 posts
@twodoghouse: Me too on before Christmas -- I have a cheesy idea that we'll get someone to take a family picture of us on the couch, dog and cat included, in christmas attire, and have an open space with baby dress or blue onsie sitting there. Caption would be something like, "making room for one more."
apricot / 388 posts
I haven't made the appt yet but will be 20 weeks the week before christmas so I hope to get in by then. My plan is to not tell anyone we are going and then for christmas give both set of grandparents something like this.. http://www.hallmark.com/products/baby/albums/granddaughters-first-year-slim-snapshot-1BBA3723_DK/ and put the sonogram as the first picture in it.
I haven't found one quite as cute yet for a boy but I'm still looking!
I'll make sure its the first present they open and everyone is paying attention.

@Apex: I'm so sorry for your loss but very happy that you are feeling so positive about your triplets. Wow! How are you feeling? Are you really showing already?
I think we decided that we'll find out the gender this time. DH's office is shut down the week between Christmas and New Year's so I'll try to schedule the anatomy scan then. I'll be 21 weeks on Christmas so I think that timing should work out.
In other news... we listed our condo for sale on Thursday evening and accepted a full price, no strings attached offer on Saturday night! We expected it to take so much longer that we are probably going to be homeless for a while! (Luckily we have family that we can stay with).

@skipra: Right now, i feel like i only look like i ate a huge meal. My pants have started to feel uncomfortable so no more belts. But DH says he sees a bump tho

Wow I feel like there is a lot to catch up on!
@Mae: thanks so much for updating our list! It looks do official now! My next appt is 11/7 for my 12 wk check up.
@Apex: I am also sorry for your loss but glad that you are in such a good place with your triplets! I hope things go smoothly for you!
@skipra: congrats on selling your place so fast! That is amazing!

As for me, I feel more relaxed after my appt last week and am now hoping to hold off a little longer before officially spilling the beans at work. I think part of this has been the appt and part has been feeling less bloated and finding out I can already make my maternity jeans work and not look too obviously preggo!
It has been really nice to have my two work friends who know and are also pregnant. One is a first time mom and one is on her second like me. There are 5 (!) of us at work who are pregnant right now so it will be nice to have that community going forward...
I also told my parents this weekend and they were excited, so it feels a little more official. We will tell the ILs this weekend when we see them in person so that will be exciting too.

Wow!!! All sorts of exciting stuff happening on our board today.
@skipra- congratulations on selling your place so quickly. Must be a relief. Will they give you a rent back? Pull the 'pregnant card'
@Apex- I am glad your other three babies are doing well. I don't know you but I think about you lots.
@Mrsog- that is going to be the cutest gift. Adobs!
@Whodat..... that sounds like a cutie card too. I was thinking for our announcement we would do Four sombrero hats. One with my DH name, one with my name, one with Cooper (our puppy's) name and then one with a question mark? and then a line at the bottom saying "Cinco De Baby?" May 2014.
cherry / 228 posts
@apex glad to hear you and the babies are doing well! I think three sounds just perfect.
@skipra - whoa, congrats!!! Glad you have a place to stay, and glad the stresses of selling a house went so quickly for you!
@mae I have an appointment with an ultrasound on the 21st (my last at the RE) and then get released to see my normal OB on the 28th. Not sure what will happen at that visit since it's my first one with her. Guessing not another ultrasound since I'll have had plenty by then.
Sorry everyone is feeling so tired! I don't feel like my normal self at all, but I'm feeling a lot better than I did a few weeks ago. Less zombie-like? I should stop saying things on here - it's the curse of death and I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow feeling like I got hit by a truck!
I told my boss today and she said, "I'm so happy for you! I'm so worried for me! Oh my gosh, tell me you're coming back. Promise me you're coming back!" Nice to be loved, at least!
papaya / 10343 posts
@tarabonno: lol, aw! Well sounds like the boss took it reasonably well. Is there any chance of you NOT going back?
cherry / 228 posts
Nope... My husband is starting nursing school and one of us has to have an income!!

Wow, I missed a lot while pigging out on turkey yesterday
caity713: Ok, those cookie dough truffles sound AMAZING. I've looked up a recipe and will be making them for a halloween party I am going to. YUM!
@Beebug: That's terrible that you had to go through that with your MIL Hopefully things will be better this time around. Both of our parents are local, luckily, so we don't have to worry about having them stay over for an extended amount of time.
@Apex: As others have said, I'm sorry about your loss, but happy that you are feeling good!
@tarabonno: glad that telling your boss went well
I actually felt pretty good over the weekend, for a change. I managed to get a few chores done for the first time in like 3 weeks. I'm also 100% showing and can't really hide it anymore. On friday one of my co-workers (who is also a good friend) said to me "so what's going on here?" while pointing at my belly. Now I just feel weird NOT telling people since I know that everyone can tell anyways. I figured that I won't deny it if asked, but just won't volunteer the information.

@Apex: I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy that the other three are doing well and that you are healthy and comfortable!
@Beebug: I read your entire story and understand how uncomfortable the situation must be! ILs can be overwhelming and intrusive and it's never fun! DH and I had our issues with his parents just before we were married and it was so uncomfortable at one point but now I think we both know our boundaries. The important thing is that your DH and you are on the same page.
I've had a very rough couple of weeks dealing with constant nausea coupled with some vomiting and headaches and fever. My OB/GYN is out of the country so he suggested I go to my GP to get approved sick leave (my days are running out at work). Turns out that I have a bladder infection which could be the cause of the extreme nausea. It has been so bad that some days I can barely stand long enough to shower. I got a shot of dimenhydrinate which has eased the nausea significantly as well as some antibiotics and calcium pills. Also got another blood test and urine test because he suspects my blood count is low (though I tested normal three weeks ago). I'm off from work until the results come on Thursday but DH got strict instructions not to let me coup up in the house and depress myself. I think I was headed down that road. On Thursday we'll know if I need additional leave and how much.

@Apex: Popping in from April again! I'm sorry to hear that you lost a baby, but congrats on seeing the other three wiggle around in there! I am so glad to hear that you're doing well and feeling comfortable with where you are. And no matter what, you still get instant family
cherry / 228 posts
@glitter So sorry you're feeling bad! FX that you'll turn a corner soon and kick that infection!! The fact that you weren't freaking out about getting a big shot shows how sick you were...

@tarabonno: thanks! Lol yes i was feeling like crap and things were happening too quickly to whine about it.

I feel like a broken record.... Spotting again, slightly more of it and pinker which is very scary. Tapered out and stopped within a day, called my doctor and scheduled a scan for Thurs at 2:45. I'm just tired of going through this. I know she gave me several explanations last time, but I feel like I'm 10 weeks now and it's too late in the game for this. And the 8 week ultrasound looked perfect, we saw the heartbeat and the umbilical cord...what could be wrong? Boo. It also doesn't help that I'm out of town for work.
papaya / 10343 posts
@whodat: ugh that is so stressful, I'm sorry! I don't know what causes spotting but I do know that almost all of my friends who have had babies spotted at some point, and I specifically remember one who freaked out about spotting at 9 weeks (and everything was fine) and one who was spotting even later... I can't remember when but it was definitely 2nd trimester (and everything was fine). I'm sure everything is fine this time too but I can definitely understand how scary that is. Tomorrow can't come soon enough!
cherry / 228 posts
@whodat Oh man. So sorry that you're dealing with this, and hoping that the time between now and Thursday afternoon goes fast. Safe travels home and keeping you in my thoughts until then!!
I had a dream last night that I was dating Prince William and he always wanted to hold my hand. Just 15 years too late for that to be the best dream of my life.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Glitter: Oh my gosh, you poor thing. I hope you start feeling better soon. Keep us updated, ok?
@whodat: I'm so sorry you're dealing with spotting again. I can't imagine the stress you're going through. I will be thinking healthy, sticky thoughts for baby whodat!
apricot / 388 posts
Appt this morning went great. Strong heartbeat and it already looks like a baby! Huge difference in 4 weeks-so cool. The only thing ill have to deal with later on is my blood type is negative and DH's is positive so at 28 weeks ill need to get a shot. Oh and I actually lost 2 lbs. and it's not for lack of eating! I'm on my phone now and will get back to some of you above when I'm on a comp.
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@whodat: so sorry about your spotting! I am glad they were able to get you in tomorrow and I hope that it is nothing, but I understand feeling worried. FX for you!
@mrsog: so glad that your appt went well and you got to see the little bean!
apricot / 388 posts
@Glitter: I'm sorry you feel so terrible and have the infection. Hopefully now that its caught going forward will only get better! Good luck!
@whodat: So sorry your dealing with this! hopefully the doc. appt will be able to answer questions and put this to rest. praying all goes well and its nothing!
@tarabonno: My boss will have the same reaction. he will be happy for me but totally worried I won't come back. I am a legal secretary and have been working with him for 4 years so he really relies on me. I am 75% staying at work tho unless DH gets an unexpected raise or a new job ::fingers crossed::
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: that's so great! And i'm so jealous about your u/s! I am desperate to see what our little blob looks like now that he or she is less blob-y. I'm also negative blood type. My husband doesn't know his (and neither did his mom somehow) so I'm going to get the shot just in case.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@mrsog: Yay for a great appointment! Lucky you losing 2 lbs! I don't even want to know how much weight I have gained... I just know I'm getting super pudgy around my middle so I know I'm gaining! I know my boss will be the same way about being happy but also worried that I will leave. The thing is...I'm like 99% certain that I will be staying at home (it's always been the plan and now with twins, we are even more resolved). Oh well, I'll cross the bridge when I come to it!
@Mae: When is your next ultrasound? I am hoping my appointment today will have another ultrasound and they might actually look human instead of like blobs, haha. I don't know my blood type, but I assume when they do my bloodwork they can figure that out? I'm not actually certain that they'll be doing bloodwork today, though? This is my first appointment with the regular OBGYN and I have no idea what to expect!
