@twodoghouse: I think they always check your blood type. My next ultrasound won't be until the anatomy scan. My doc only does 8 weeks and 20 weeks unless you do the 12 week genetic testing. So I have another 7-8 weeks before an ultrasound! (depending on if I can talk my doc into letting me get it in week 18 haha)

I guess my doc will do one every appt. they have the machine right in the room and it takes 2 minutes so I don't see why not. I am not going to stop her!

@mrsog: Oh my gosh, love it! And lucky you with with getting an U/S each appointment! I think with twins we may end up with more U/S than usual, but I'm not really sure yet!

@mrsog: omg that is totally a baby! And kind of cool for me since I"m almost exactly as far along as you (11w3d) so I can imagine thats what mine looks like too haha. That is awesome that they do it every appointment! My doc has one in the room too but its a separate charge, not covered by insurance. so I would think that they only do it when they really have to

Morning all! So I had a bit of a rough night last night. I had the MOST disturbingly realistic dream early in the night-- that I got up from bed to use the restroom and was bleeding everywhere and we went to the hospital and they confirmed I had lost the baby and were going to have to do a D&C. I was so upset and woke up confused and upset and then just couldn't stay asleep the rest of the night. Ugh.

I've been pretty chill regarding not worrying too much and feeling like everything is fine (and it is-- I have had no reason to think it isn't, no spotting, etc) but now I feel like this fear is weighing on my mind today. Stupid dream. Cannot WAIT for my appt next Thurs where I can hopefully hear the heartbeat again.

  12. mrsog

    apricot / 388 posts

@Mae: I have had quite a few of that exact dream and just bad dreams in general. It is very unnerving but it IS just a dream and everything is fine!

  13. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@Mae: Oh no, I"m so sorry about your nightmare last night. That sounds awful. Try not to worry - next Thursday's appointment will be here soon!

Yesterday I had my first appointment at the OBGYN and it was sort of all over the place. We met with a new midwife in the practice who hadn't gotten a chance to look over all the info my RE sent over. So she didn't know ahead of time it was twins and wasn't really prepared to discuss any of the potential twin problems. She did mention that since it's twins I will need to be seen by the OB throughout my pregnancy and for the delivery, instead of the team of midwives. I was sort of hoping I could see the midwives throughout for my prenatal care, even if I had to have an OB delivery. But I guess in this practice, midwives don't handle twins at all.

She did squeeze us in with the sonographer so we could see the babies again, though! They are looking more like little people and we could even see nubby little limbs sticking out. They were SO active, wiggling around like crazy. Baby B is still measuring 3 days smaller than Baby A, but B is right on with how many weeks I am and A is just the overachiever, so I'm not worrying about it. My husband told me last night that he really thinks B is going to be a girl and A is a boy which is why it's a little bigger. I guess we'll find out in the next couple months if he's right! I'm thinking two girls, but I don't really know why.

I'm thinking about telling my boss today that I'm pregnant. I'm so nervous, but she has to find out sometime! It's getting harder and harder to hide my stomach, too. I thought I was so clever today wearing a ruffly tank top and a cardigan that totally hid my "bump." But then I took my 10 week picture and upon further review, I still look huge. Just huge and ruffly today, haha, great.

I will try to come back later and add my newest ultrasound pics! Hope everyone else is doing well today!

@twodoghouse: sorry your appointment was a little disappointing but yay for more twin pics! and good luck with your boss! I think I'm telling mine next week and I am SUPER nervous too

  15. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@Mae: I probably shouldn't complain about the appointment too much because any one where everything looks good is great, right? I am betting I will chicken out on telling my boss today, but I'll keep you updated! Good luck with telling your boss next week!

@Mae: what an awful dream! How scary! Hope you can sleep better tonight! I have not been sleeping well but this has been due to really vivid dreams and my crazy LO refusing to go back to sleep for hours at a time. But that is a whole other issue...

@twodoghouse: yay for first OB appt and seeing the babes! It does sound a little disorganized but hopefully things will be smoother next time around.

My boss got back from a 10 day work trip yesterday and I swear I saw her glancing at my ever more obvious bump. I might just be paranoid though. I may just tell her tomorrow but ask to keep it officially quiet until closer to 12 weeks. I will only be 9 weeks tomorrow, so sometimes 3 more weeks feels like a long time to wait. If I do, I will let you know how it goes!

    Hi ladies!

Little mia lately, work has been nuts, and I am so, so sick. Not preg sick, like DDs cold from daycare sick that got 20x worse for me, sort of into the flu. I'm working from home the rest of the day, had been travelling, but got yanked off the road as I wasn't doing anyone else any good.

I have my IPS ultrasound booked, Nov 1st, so yay! We will be 12w4d and hopefully everything will be okay! I am getting to the point where I had my subchorionic hemorrhage (aka massive bleed) this time last pregnancy, so I have been pretty nervous, and can only hope it doesn't happen again.

I hope everyone is doing well, I look forward to getting to read through everyone's last few days and replying, hopefully on the weekend I will get a chance

Got some answers today about the bleeding. The doctor did another ultrasound and found the placenta covering my cervix, and some blood pooled around that area. The good news is that the baby looked great -- really big difference in 10 days -- moving its little arms and legs around. Bad news is that I will keep bleeding, and if I start hemorrhaging, worst case scenario is that I will lose the baby, or have a premature birth. And no more sex, period. She referred us to a specialist ultrasound to confirm, and we will likely go on Monday.

I am half relieved and half scared. At least we know the problem.

  19. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@whodat: Glad you have answers and the baby looks great, I'm sorry that the answer is challenging though. Fingers crossed that the worst case scenario never comes to be.

@whodat: glad that you got some answers and hoping that everything will be ok with the rest of your pregnancy!

@Beebug: booo, hope you feel better soon. Being sick while pregnant is the worst Hoping it passes quickly!

@twodoghouse: sorry that you didn't quite get the news you wanted about being seeing by the midwives instead of OB. Can't wait to see your new U/S pics!

@Mae: eek, freaky dream! My dreams have been sooooooo weird, but nothing that scary!

@MamaCate: I bet the 3 weeks will fly by faster than you think

Nothing new to report on my end. Just sitting and patiently waiting for November 4 when i FINALLY get to see what's in my belly! Reallllly hoping the time goes by quickly! I'm also hoping the nausea starts to calm down soon. some days I'm ok, but most nights I'm still really sick. I usually can't keep whatever i ate for dinner down.

  24. MamaCate

    pomegranate / 3595 posts

@cookie_dough: I hope so! I was at a lunch meeting today with a few colleagues and one of them told us she is 9 weeks pregnant! She is a second time mom too and it was all I could do not to blurt out, "me too!" She is really petite so she is showing a lot more than I am. I didn't tell my boss this morning and am now going to try to wait until 10 weeks...

So sorry about your nausea --hope it lets up soon!

PS. This means there are 6 of us pregnant at the same time at work!!

@whodat: a friend of mine has similar issues and has made it to term. She'll likely deliver any day now. So keep hope up I'll keep you in my prayers.

I have not been over on the boards for a while. Looks like I missed lots.

@whodat- I also had a friend who had the same issue when she was pregnant. She now has a healthy 14 month old. Keep your head up. Thinking of you.

@beebug- Hope you are feeling better as well. I had an 'emerging cold' earlier this week. I have never drank so much emergen-C in my life. Fortunately, I did not get full blown sick.

I have my doc appointment for fingerprick test on Tuesday (the 22nd). My doc will then schedule me for the NT scan the week after. I feel like once I am past this bump, I will feel lots more relaxed and try to settle into enjoying my pregnancy. I have given myself a worry deadline, Let us see how that works out. I think I am going to ask for an ultrasound on Tuesday even though that is not what I am meant to go to the doctor for. Just for peace of mind to know baby is still there and growing. Will probably have to pay extra.

So I finally told my employees. Turns out it was the worst kept secret in the world. My assistant said she knew all along. I asked her how she knew. She said she had never seen me scoff so much food at my desk all at once. She said "No one should love Chipotle THAT MUCH, so we knew something was up, and we put two and two together seeing that your calendar had more than one doctor's appointments, and you never go to the doctor."

Here I was thinking it was going to be a great, big shocker...... but nope... not these girls! The suckers knew all along! So much for a secret.

I am off to my first prenatal yoga class. Lets see how long I survive

  27. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Coopersmama: I'm at a point where I need the NT scan to believe I am still pregnant. I am less sick finally, but seriously don't feel a lick preggo. Know I definitely lost weight not eating all week, but the sick symptoms outweigh the preg I guess? I go nexxxt Friday, so from there I will hopefully get some re-assurance again to move forward! LOL on the worst kept secret, that is funny! I am very open at work about wanting to have another, and said to a colleague last week that was going off for her 2nd mat leave "I hope to be gone when you come back" so like....it won't be shocking when I tell, but I hope a little shock value, too funny about your employees, lol.

@MamaCate: Wow about 6 at work! How big is your office??! We have a few on mat leave currently (5 I think?) and no one "out" with a pregnancy as far as I know! Our office is about 40 people, my "area" is 17 people and 2 of the 17 are on mat leave, and then there's me, lol.

@cookie_dough: You Nov 4th, me Nov 1st!! We will make these next two weeks fly!!! I am finally feeling less sick, eating again and can taste and smell, woo hoo.

@whodat: Glad you got some answers, but still scary and always staying positive for ya!

@mrsog: love that your babes looks like a baby! Yay getting through the blob stage!

Hi all! Back from a weekend away. Totally agreeing with you girls who say you're starting to not feel pregnant. I was actually sort of sick this weekend (I think I just pushed myself too hard with traveling/walking around/eating out) but I think I just feel really weird about being 12 weeks now and still being under my BFP weight and not showing. I have a doc appt on Thursday and I"m so excited to hear the heartbeat again.

  29. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Mae: I totally wouldn't worry about not "feeling" pregnant! I didn't gain any weight with my first pregnancy until I was around 18 weeks, and I think that it's common for people lose weight in the first trimester if they aren't feeling great. I was so looking forward to having symptoms in the beginning (I knew I'd regret wishing for them) and now I'm soooo ready for the nausea to be gone. I seriously haven't cleaned my house in almost 6 weeks because as soon as DD crashes for the night, I'm done for the night as well. I have a few spurts of energy on the weekends because I usually feel ok in the mornings, so I can occasionally do a load of laundry or clean a bathroom, but that's about it. I need my nausea gone so that I can not live in a pig sty anymore hahaha.

@Beebug: I think I'm starting to get sick now. nooooooooo! Sore throat, headachy, etc. I hope it's a short one and doesn't linger.

@Coopersmama: Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! How did you enjoy prenantal yoga? I did a prenatal aquafit class last time, and I think I will sign up again this time!

I finally "turned" 10 weeks yesterday...so excited to finally be in the double digits!

Boy, I am not one of the "not feeling pregnant" lucky ones. I threw up first thing this morning, didn't want to even look at food so I failed to pack a breakfast or lunch to bring to work, but then when I got to work I felt like I might die of starvation so I went and bought a bagel and cream cheese. AND I look about 4 months pregnant, at 10 weeks. Bleah...

  31. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@whodat: I am usually one of the not feeling too pregnant lucky ones, but today is just not my day. I could barely sit up in bed today because I was so nauseous, so my husband brought me a bagel (usually fine on my stomach!). Puked that all up, barely managed to get myself dressed and off to work, and now I'm starving. At least I threw a sleeve of saltine crackers in my bag on my way out the door so there's that...

I'm sorry you're feeling so sick. Hope things start to look up for you!

@whodat: @twodoghouse: so sorry you guys are having such rough mornings!!!

I'm definitely not feeling "not pregnant" at all I'm just feeling better than I was and being this far along with no physical confirmation of baby (like a bump) makes me feel like--- s/he's still in there right? right? Just really looking forward to hearing the hb on thurs and getting confirmation that I'm still growing a person.

yesterday was a baaad day for me. I think I over did it on Saturday. My parents were coming for the night so I was up early cleaning and then we went out to dinner and did a walking tour and walked around the city a bit. and thats after a full week of working. Then sunday I was just purely exhausted. I couldn't get off the couch.. I had a terrible headache so DH made me take a tylenol and I raelly wanted a turkey sandwich so my mom made the executive decision and went to the store and bought the fixings for it. I was crying bc I didn't want to take meds or eat cold cuts but they all insisted and told me it would be ok. Later in the evening I threw up and actually felt kind of better but man what a miserable day. So at 12 weeks today(!) - I am still feeling very much like I'm in the early stages.

@Mae: I'm glad you're feeling better and I'm so excited for your appointment this week! Can't wait for you to see your baby and hear the heartbeat!

@mrsog: I'm sorry your day was so awful. I have noticed if I overdo it one day, I am really paying for it the next. I hope you're feeling better today though. Congrats on 12 weeks!

  35. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@mrsog: aw, sorry you had a rough weekend! It's so frustrating how tired/sore you get so early! I had a girls' weekend trip to DC this weekend and both Friday and Saturday I had to go back to the hotel early and rest. I felt so lame, but you really can't "man up" when you're pregnant like you would at other times!

@twodoghouse: No seeing that baby, we don't get any more u/s until the anatomy scan, but just hearing the baby again will be fun!

@mrsog: Happy 12 weeks! On to the second trimester!

@twodoghouse: That is one of my least favorite things about this pregnancy -- feeling gross and having no appetite first thing in the morning, and therefore packing zero food for the day, and then feeling ravenous like clockwork at 9:00 am. Then of course I go out and get something unhealthy. Last pregnancy I would throw up in the morning, but immediately want to eat something and usually had a huge breakfast at home before work.

@whodat: I feel the same way. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining - you guys are kind of my outlet tho since I dont like telling my friends about it bc I don't want to be annoying and I always end up apologizing to DH bc I just don't think he knows what to do when I don't feel good.
bad days or good days - I couldn't be happier than I am right now and with what the future holds for my family

Hope everyone's Monday is getting better! I had a rough weekend mostly due to lo's abominable sleep while at my mil's but we all went to bed really early last night and are feeling a little more normal today.

I just told my boss and she said "I knew it" and congratulated me. I don't know when I will tell the "big bosses" but am just feeling over trying to hide it and be incognito when I don't have any clothes to wear. Plus it is supposed to be got here the rest if the week so it is harder to hide in layers. We did tell my ILs and some other family this weekend so now it feels less "secret" too I guess?
