@mrsog: I am a stomach sleeper, like every day since having C I have slept on my belly because I didn't think I was a belly sleeper until I got bigger with her and I missed it SO much. So as soon as she was out, I am on my belly as much as I can and loving it until I can't! I hike my one leg up too, so I am not completely flat! When I can't any longer I need to use pillows sooner, I didn't realize how much they helped with sleep and with belly and easing pressure off my back when on my side.

@Coopersmama: Hugs on the worrying! I think pregnancy is totally different following an MC. I would never ever wish one on anyone but beyond the loss and that part of it, what it does to your head moving forward? Man oh man! I don't think they (whoever they are!) prep us enough for that part of the worry with pregnancy.

@Glitter: Me on pinterest is: http://www.pinterest.com/jusontherun/boards/ if you want to see or follow and for anyone else too! My DD is on there, some pics I've done of her, and her room! Our dog is in there lots too, we're obsessed, lol.

@MamaCate: Glad everything went well at your appointment yesterday!

@Mae: @cookie_dough: Mmmmm cookie dough, I'd rebel and eat it with the raw egg.......bad!!!!

Speaking of bad. Forget pre-preg weight then til now, what about McDonald's weight, pre and post Monopoly? I just got the game board today and didn't realize that we've been there more than we think!!!

    Happy Friday ladies!!!

@Mae: Yayy, thank you for updating the list

I had another prenatal appointment today with my GP (next one should be with my OB hopefully). I was shocked that I haven't gained any weight (or maybe a pound at most) given that the only things i've been eating are carbs and sugar. She gave me a prescription for diclectin to deal with my nausea/vomitting. I still haven't decided if I will take it or not. Last time she gave me a prescription and I never filled it, but this time it's so much harder since I can't just lie on the couch and do nothing when I'm feeling horrible Lastly (probably tmi), she told me that I had a lot of small blood vessels on my cervix, which would make it a lot more likely for me to bleed after DTD...at least I will know not to worry about it too much if I do bleed!

  7. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@cookie_dough: me too on the weight thing! I feel like I've eaten nothing but carbs and I eat all the time and I'm down 5 lbs. But I'm so grateful because weight gain is a HUGE concern of mine for pregnancy (I'm already overweight) so I'm so grateful. That sucks about the blood vessels but at least you won't worry if it happens!

    @Mae: YAY Awesome list!!!!

@Glitter: lol thank-you! She is a cutie pie, pressure is on for #2 to be cute, or at least have some hair at birth, too! She was furry!

I brought in pie for the office this aft, so I am trying to stay off here so it's not open when someone comes to my desk!!

@Mae: Yay, thanks for the update. I've also got an appointment on Nov 4 for my 12 week check-up.

@cookie_dough: That's good she gave you an explanation for the bleeding. What is up with nobody gaining weight around here? I thought I had gained one pound, but at the doctor's office I weighed 145....4 pounds more than my scale at home. I was mad. But, I'm not really trying to eat healthy...trying to eat what sounds good and not feel sick all the time.

    kiwi / 619 posts

@whodat: don't worry, I will catch up in terms of weight gain for sure! Last pregnancy there was one month where I gained like 13 pounds or something. I gained very slowly, and then all of a sudden, bam! one month of crazy weight gain!

  11. mrsog

@Mae: thanks for updating the list! I have a check-up on Oct 16 and the NT scan on Oct 22.

I'm visiting a friend this weekend who is going through a tough and unexpected divorce. She said she lost 15 lbs in the last month since her husband left her (she is already very petite) and I said don't worry - all I do is eat so we will get some lbs back on ya! I already requested brownies, pizza and mcdonlads breakfast. My scale says I havent gained weight but my diet would surely say otherwise. So would my pants! So weird.

I am deathly afraid to get on the scale. Since I have not been throwing up, and I am permanently hungry- I have definitely not been eating as healthy as I could.

@mae- thank you so much for putting together that list. You are a total rock star!

ladies... thank you once again for all your sage advice yesterday. I really appreciated it.

OK... heading out to check out @beebug's pinterest boards. Does anyone know how you share a secret board?

So how does the McDonald's monopoly thing work?

@whodat: I always weigh more at the doctors too. Probably because at home I weigh myself first thing in the morning with just my underwear. I think I started around 125 and my scale at home has been saying 119 for a couple weeks now but I was 124 at the doctor's office. So if you go by that I gained 5lbs from early morning to late morning!
Does anyone know if they track weight gain from your lowest point or from the starting point?

@Mae: Thanks for updating the list! I have a checkup on the 21st and NT scan on the 28th.

Last week I thought I had late onset morning sickness but I think it may have just been a bug. I'm feeling much better now but DH is under the weather! I feel bad for him but am so relieved that I haven't thrown up in a couple days.

  16. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@skipra: I weigh more at the doc too. I figure it is a combination of factors. Later in the day. Wearing clothes (usually jeans) + shoes. Their scale being evil. I usually weigh like 3-4 lbs more there.

I also don't know if they track your gain from your lowest or your start. I never got weighed at the doc though until 8 weeks when I was already down a few pounds. I will prob count from my BFP weight bc it will make me feel better. Those first 5 lbs I gain will be free lol.

So, has anyone else been following this thread? http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/placenta-on-early-us-determining-gender

According to that method, I would be having a girl! I really don't care either way but it is sort of fun to let myself think I know what I'm having for a few min. I just need to remember this is not exactly reliable and not get myself tied up in the idea of a girl so I'm not bummed if it turns out to be a boy! What would you guys be having based on this method?

  18. Glitter

Oh wait if we're talking about which side of the uterus then I would say girl because it's on the left?

  22. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Beebug: if I'm reading it right your baby is toward the right side of your uterus which I'm guessing is where the placenta would be also... And that would mean boy?

  23. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Mae: Really interesting! With DS the placenta was on the right so I guess that fits. I have no clue about this time.

Has anyone done the Chinese gender prediction? The one on babycenter seems to give different answers depending on which method you use. I think ovulation date is the right way to calculate. Mine says girl!

  24. Beebug

    @skipra: mine says girl, too!

  25. Coopersmama

Mine says girl too! I am
Seriously hoping for a boy though

  26. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

So I googled chinese prediction and found a calculator thing. If I go by conception date it says girl, but if I go by due date it says boy--- what the crap is that?! lol

I bet by the time our kids are having kids they'll be able to do a finger prick at their first doc appt and know before they leave if they're having a boy or girl and whether it has any genetic issues!

I cannot properly convey my BABY FEVER typing. It's crazy, and a good thing being preggo I suppose. I feel like all I see on fb right now are newborns, omg.....looooove.

I also am crazy exhausted, not sure if it's pg related, having a cold, back to work fun, orrrr everything? DH is away too, so everything on me right now. Weird cramps/pains in uterus area the last couple days so I hope everything is ok. My doc office said I should hear from them on Tues with when my IPS stuff will be.

Thanksgiving weekend here, we are hosting tomorrow. My Great Grandmother, Grandparents, parents (though currently split) and uncle will be here, it'd be awesome if we were further along and we could announce! Oh well, I'm not doing bad with waiting too, different story if I didn't have here to talk preg and baby!

    Happy Canadian Thanksgiving @Beebug.

I also feel like I never noticed anything baby related until I found out I was preggo. Now I am out of hand. Paying extra attention to my friend's babies. Also- I have never noticed so many strollers in my life !!!

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!

I went to a baby shower today, and someone said, "We have three pregnant people here right now, right? Unless wait - is anyone secretly pregnant? Do we have more??" I didn't say anything because it seemed like upstaging the mama to be, but it was tough!!

My in-laws have decided to just start telling anyone and everyone they want to, and then pretending we said it was ok. Sigh. Apologies to anyone who has real in-law drama because mine is always very petty, but enough to drive me bonkers!!

How did you all find out if your NT scan is covered by your insurance company? Did you call and find out what is covered? I have an HSA plan so probably mine is "covered" once I reach my deductible. We still haven't decided if we are going to do it.

My girlfriend gave me a huge tub of maternity clothes today -- including TEN pairs of jeans! She dresses casually to work so it's way more than I'll ever wear. Some awesome solid tanks and t-shirts too. I feel like I might be ready to venture into wearing a belly band soon. My pants still button (kind of), but they aren't very comfortable and I have a huge jelly-donut looking stomach hanging out on top!

@beebug just followed you in Pinterest. I'm here, if anyone is interested: http://www.pinterest.com/tarabonnol/boards/. I have a TON of baby stuff pinned on secret boards that you won't be able to see for a few more weeks. Right now we are thinking of doing grey, mint green, white and navy for the nursery, but we'll see if that changes!!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

    papaya / 10343 posts

    @Beebug: happy thanksgiving!

@tarabonno: amazing show of restraint to not spill the beans at the shower! Also that is awesome that you just got so many maternity clothes!

As for the NT scan, I just called the main help number for my insurance and asked. I was told that it was "covered" but they don't actually pay for anything until I meet my deductible. Which I'm not going to do this year so basically it is just out of pocket. That was a big reason we opted out of the NT scan (since we have no risk factors and mostly wanted to do it to see the baby again!). I will say though-- I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of my 8 week ultrasound and blood work. I was told the ultrasound would cost about $200 but it only cost $118 under my plan's contract rate (would've been $1870 if I was uninsured) and the blood work was like $40. So-- it may not be TOO expensive to pay out of pocket for the NT scan and blood work but honestly there is just no way to know reliably before you get it done.

@tarabonno: I should dig up my big post regarding my MIL following when C was born. All of that tops any awful story out there (I'm willing to bet) and nothing else has caused that much stress in mine and DHs relationship. So I can totally listen to crazy IL stories.......so not cool. In summary, DHs parents didn't ask when they could come, showed up day after she was born (staying with us) for 3 weeks. FIL left after 8 days to go back to work, DH back to work that day too. MIL ended up cooking me spicy food on day 10! Locking herself in our spare room for 2 days after and flying home day 13 (thank god). We previously had an unreal amazing relationship and the nasty things she said about me to DH on the way to the airport? Unforgivable, he should have never told me. We really haven't spoken unless when we have to, and no one knows it happened, so we "act" like everything's ok when we do see them (twice since, again at Christmas) so yah......it's awful.

    ANYWAYS! Lol.

@Coopersmama: yes on noticing strollers! I'm now bad at spotting the double version of what we have now and I would loooove one, but we were gifted a dbl of another brand (hand me down) so buying and spending mega bucks to get what I want so won't fly.

@Beebug, OMG! I love my MIL but if she dared pull those moves, I would be livid! I seriously think all I want when the baby comes, I just want me and the hubs and maybe a nanny. As bad as it sounds, I don't think I want my mom or my MIL to be there as well. Maybe down the road.

Yah, ladies biggest lesson learned if you want space when babe arrives, get DH on board and stick to your guns. I have said with #2 I will happily keep my own Mom away (who is local and was around less when MIL was here) just to keep things even. Don't want to think that far ahead yet, it stresses me out, lol.

  38. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Beebug: This is honestly a big concern of mine! But I'm trying not to worry too much until there is actually something to worry about. The issue is none of our parents are local. My parents are 2 hrs drive. My FIL/step mom are 3 hrs drive. My MIL/step dad are a plane ride away. I absolutely don't want more than one set staying with us at a time, and I absolutely don't want a revolving door for the first several weeks leading to 0 privacy for us! I got a little concerned about this especially because when we called and told my husband's mom she made some comment about how she was going to have to fight my mom for the guest room. I have no idea what she meant (and I know it was a light-hearted comment, but there is always some truth to those) but I'm hoping she doesn't want to be here for the delivery/first week.

I've explained all this to my husband and he seems supportive but neither of us think we should be the first to broach the topic with his parents. I've already told my parents that I want them here for the delivery/first night home then I want them to go home and not come back until my husband goes back to work and they are completely supportive. But I'm hoping when my inlaws start making plans we can keep my FIL/step mom to a weekend maybe a week after birth and let my MIL come stay for longer but not until like 3 weeks.

  39. tarabonno

    cherry / 228 posts

@beebug Oh. My. God. First of all, I am so sorry that happened to you!! She sounds like my MIL's long lost twin. I am with @mae... Seriously concerned about how she'll be once the baby gets here. Thankfully they are only an hour and a half away, so they won't come for weeks at a time. But that is absolutely something she would do. We were coming for a few hours less than she thought for Christmas (no exaggeration) and she sobbed for four days.

Sigh. I hadn't thought about how we will have to tell people when we want them to visit. I am getting anxious just thinking about it.

  40. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Beebug: OMG that is awful. How are things now? I think I mentioned before that we're also having issues with the in-laws and I'm sure they are going to get worse now that we're going to move slightly further away and will not be visiting them much with a newborn and toddler. There is a good chance that they will not even come see us because they rely on SIL to drive them around (even though MIL is totally capable) and we are not on speaking terms with SIL and she is not welcome in my home with the way she has been treating me/us. They will probably only be an hour away once we move so it's totally ridiculous.
@Mae: That is exactly how we handled it with my mom. She stayed at our house while I was in the hospital and our first night home. Then she went home and came back to help out when DH returned to work. It worked out great.
My dad and step-mom and in-laws just did day visits. I don't think I could have handled having other overnight guests really early on. My BIL and his girlfriend came for just one or two nights when DS was a month and my sister came when he was 2 months. Those visits were fine because they were pretty short and not immediate. I would definitely tell people that if you think you'll have to play host then tell visitors that they'll have to get a hotel. Don't make it an option.
