@Coopersmama: @MamaCate: @Mae: @cookie_dough: @twodoghouse: Eee thanks ladies! I am so glad I am crazy busy at work today so that I don't even think about it until on my way! I need to remember to get the water into me though!

@skipra: thanks! and IPS stands for integrated prenatal screening! Same at NT, just different name I guess? Can, US difference thing, maybe?

@skipra: no worries--it is hard to keep track of everyone. she is almost 23 months. last year she seemed way too little for halloween but this year we did a short trek around the neighborhood and she had a blast. with help, she was able to say "trick or treat" and "thank you" at every house and it was adorable. we all had a really good time!

How was everyone's Halloween? I was grouchy and tired and hungry and jealous of the parents that got to walk around with glasses of wine, but in the end we had a blast. My daughter ran around with two of her BFFs and my son was dressed as Chucky and scored a ton of candy that to his dismay we didn't let him eat (all of it). One of our neighbors (who knows I'm pregnant) kept offering me glasses of wine, and at first I just handed them to DH, but then it was weird and I had to be like, "Eh, sorry, No thanks?" I know some pregnant ladies drink wine, but it's a little early on for that.

@whodat: strange that she kept giving you wine, knowing you are pregnant! Our halloween was pretty low key. We always order pizza after the trick or treaters stop ringing the doorbell (which makes for a pretty late dinner!) I ate wayyy too much candy waiting for the pizza. We had planned to dress DD up as a bee to help us hand out candy (well, really just play with smarties boxes while we actually handed out the candy, she's too young for trick or treating) but she has a bad cold so we just left her in her comfy clothes. It was hilarious to watch her though, she would get SO excited every time the doorbell rang! and she sort of started saying "trick or treat" (she's only 15 months, so her words aren't very clear yet!).

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

lol on the wine, oh my!

We were pretty low key last night, DD is just 1 (on the 20th!) so going out would have been for us, DH was away so we kept pm routine the same, but she looooved seeing the kids coming to the door!

SO! I had a great u/s! Saw babes! I am 12+4 today, but measuring 13+1 today, edd not changing. Saw brain, heart, both arms and both legs! Had blood done afterward, pics to come! Got 5 on CD!

I FINALLY have my u/s on Monday! as long as everything goes well, today is the last day that I have to wear "camouflaging" clothes at work, since I plan on officially announcing when I'm back at work on Tuesday (took the whole day off Monday). Can't wait to finally wear decent clothes again and not hiding the bump (not that i'm doing a great job..i look soooo pregnant).

Just catching up with the board!

@Coopersmama: Our fake names are Horatio and Brunhilda. I love to tease my grandma with these : ) Especially because she didn't like the names we are actually leaning towards (but she doesn't remember them at this point).

Okay, update for me since I've been gone for weeks and weeks:

I'm 13wks1d now! Had my last appt at 12wks3d on Monday. They moved my due date back to May 9, the original date. This was the first appt my husband could come to, and he was so sweet : )
I still have complete placenta previa (which explains the intermittent spotting), but the doc said there's an 80% chance it will migrate. Fingers crossed, because I really don't want to have a cs (and he said it was toward my belly, and he doesn't want to have to cut through it!).
I read all of these things online about how baby is currently gracefully floating about like a dancer, but on that ultrasound, it was vigorously jumping up and down! I couldn't stop laughing (mostly because it's hilarious to me that something could be moving so much without me feeling it). We had the NT scan, but haven't heard back from the blood test (probably good news - they only said they'd call if they got a less than ideal result). And anyway, the doc said he has every indication that baby is completely normal. They also said I'm completely healthy except for being anemic (despite having good iron levels, which I didn't know was possible) and to not eat carbs and eat plenty of protein.
One other thing - the ultrasound tech and doctor both said they think from the scans that baby is a girl! I thought it was way too early to tell, but I guess they got just the right shot. We've told most people about the baby (not on FB yet, though), but we're going to hold off on telling people the gender until maybe the halfway point when we are totally sure. Either way, I'm excited : ) I thought it would be a boy (but then, I'm always ALWAYS wrong when I guess what people are having, so you can take it to the bank that it will be the opposite of what I think), but my husband was sure it was a girl the whole time.

  15. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Beebug: gah your LO is like a REAL PERSON now!! soooo freaking cute! I love the little fingers! 4 more weeks until I get to see my LO and their cute fingers

@HayleyJane: so funny you should say that about the baby jumping up and down! My pregnancy app says that the baby is the size of a navel orange now and it seems SO WEIRD to me that something the size of an orange is bouncing around in my abdomen and I can't feel anything. Like how weird/creepy is that? Does not make me feel very in touch with my body

So, debbie downer moment of the day: It is open enrollment for my husband's work and I just saw how much our insurance premium is going to go up when we have this LO. I didn't think it would go up at all because I'm already on my husband's insurance and we pay the family rate for deductibles and whatnot so I thought that the monthly premium was either single or family. NOPE. It definitely goes up when you have a kid

  16. MamaCate

    pomegranate / 3595 posts

@HayleyJane: welcome back! so glad to hear that things are going well for you and LO! Hope that the placenta moves so that it doesn't cause problems down the road.

@Mae: insurance costs are insane. especially when you add kids! it is better than not having insurance though....we got the bill for our first ped appt with shots when the insurance company denied it initially, and it was over $1K!

  17. Mae

@Glitter: @MamaCate: Eee glad you like, I can't get over the detail on each hand, SO amazing!!

@HayleyJane: lol on fake names, we hardly talk about it so definitely no fake or any sort of names! Maybe soon! lol on baby jumping around so much, and right on no news is good news with NT scan! I think after the 2nd blood sample was done for me (1st time around) whenever my next prenatal was they discussed the normal/ok results, was interesting.

@Mae: Debbie downer moments allowed, booo about premium going up. I am sorry it doesn't mean more to me so I don't have anything useful to add!!

For any of the 2 under 2 Mama's that have told family/friends/people.......what have the reactions been like? I was thinking about why I have no interest in telling anyone yet (the tech was shocked) and so I was just thinking like....okay there's something wrong with me. So thought about it and I am really the type to get annoyed with comments and have it in my head there will be lots of people that mean well make comments that will get tiresome re: 2 under 2. I'm crazy regardless but really have that in my head as something that will bug me and just wonder what other's reaction experiences have been.

  21. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@Beebug: June 2 mama here but I wanted to say that I have the same feelings as you about the comments we are going to get. We haven't told our friends/family yet (I'm 10 weeks) for this very reason. I know it's going to be hard, and I don't want to hear everyones opinions about it. I am also extremely nervous about handling 2 under 2 so I don't need to stress myself out any more than I already am!

  22. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Beebug: makes sense about not wanting comments! Although I don't think 2 under 2 is THAT uncommon. And it kind of makes sense to just have them one after another so they'll be close and also just to get the pregnancy/sleeplessness/diapers stage of life OVER with already

Also does anyone else feel badly when they have to call their doc? I feel like I've been on the phone to mine (well, her nurse) way too much in the last few weeks and I feel horrible for being a "needy patient." But like-- I think I had good reasons to call? I called first to verify what cold meds I was allowed to take because the list they gave me was sort of confusing. Then I called to come in for a UTI. Then they called me bc the culture came back and they had to switch my antibiotics. Then I threw up one of the pills this weekend so I'm 1 short and I know with antibiotics you're really supposed to take them ALL (especially when the full course is only 6 pills), so I called this morning to see if they wanted to call in 1 more pill for me. I just feel like I'm being needy and I hate it.

Also, I could be done with medication and random non-preggo-related illnesses now please.

@Beebug: Love the U/S photos! I've also been really nervous about people's reactions but so far everyone has been super excited. I was scared to death to tell my dad but he was so much happier than I ever could have expected. We still haven't told everyone though. We gave our parents the green light to tell people but we haven't announced to all our friends yet. I don't know why but I'm nervous! One of DH's coworkers made a comment about how is it possible to get pregnant with a baby (meaning how did we have the time to do it)? I'm starting to show now so I guess it's about time to start announcing!
@Mae: I'm pretty sure they are used to it! Don't worry about it - that's what they're there for.
@HayleyJane: Fingers crossed about the placenta moving! On my ultrasound the baby was jumping like it had hiccups. It was so funny. In the past few days I think I can sometimes feel the baby when I'm sitting in the right position. I started feeling DS every once in a while around 14 or 15 weeks, so really early. Hopefully you will feel her soon!

  25. MamaCate

    pomegranate / 3595 posts

@Beebug: @bushelandapeck: My LOs will be 30 months apart so I am not exactly in your boat. But, I was surprised how many people, when I told work folks, had comments about what they "thought" we might do as far as spacing. It is really no one's business. I knew I couldn't handle 2 under 2 nor did it work financially, so that was the best decision for us. I would have been fine with a little farther apart but I got KU fast this time.

Regardless, it is really not for anyone else to say what would work for you and your family. I think there are a lot of benefits to having kids close in age and it seems like almost everyone is happy with the gap they end up with. (I will say, my SIL is expecting her second only 16 months after her first and I am terrified for her, but have only said that privately. I am sure they will figure it out). But I think if you own it and don't apologize for it, hopefully people will keep their thoughts to themselves. Good luck!

@Beebug: Love the pictures! I'm so glad your appointment went well!

@cookie_dough: Happy ultrasound day! Let us know how it goes!

@HayleyJane: Love your fake names. So far we've been jokingly calling them "Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen Ourlastname" at home. Whenever someone else asks if we've thought of names I just tell them we need to find out the genders first. That should put them off for a while!

@Mae: Aw, I'm sorry you're having to call your doc so often. I haven't called at all, but I have frequent appointments so I'm able to get most of my questions out in person. But don't feel bad - they are there to answer your questions!

Is anyone having blood sugar issues? Whenever I take a nap (which is, um, daily), when I wake up I feel really dizzy/nauseous/light headed. I don't know why, but in my head I think this is a blood sugar thing. I usually try to drink a lot of water and eat something and then I start to feel more normal. I really hope this is not a sign that I'm going to have GD. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it at next week's appointment, but I wonder if anyone else is having a similar problem?

  27. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@twodoghouse: oh man I HATE that lightheaded feeling. I had that a lot the first few weeks. I haven't had it since maybe 7-8 weeks or so, but I feel for ya because that feeling is the worst.

  28. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@bushelandapeck: Glad I am not alone! I know people will make comments either way (with or without any meaning behind it) so I would rather just wait as long as possible to not "be pregnant" to others yet, lol. 13w today for us!

@Mae: 2 under 2 is totally uncommon in "our circle" like family, friends, colleagues, aside from a neighbour we moved away from in August (her boys were 17m apart!) I don't know of anyone who's done it. I already know which friends will say the most (to me, at least, not in a gossipy way) not meaning to overcomment, but it will get bad, lol. I also am telling those friends (well, going to try for everyone) to not tell our exact due date. It was awful at due date time the messages, calls, etc with #1. I heard from friends constantly and I just wanted to be left alone, like....we haven't had the baby yet, when we do, we'll be in touch!! Two gf's called me every day the week of my due date, then I went a week overdue. I ended up putting my phone away and checked it once a day and stopped answering the calls.

Never ever feel bad about calling your doc too much! I was paranoid of that with #1 and the few times they have dropped the ball, or I listened to my doc *ahem IUD issue* I no longer question "should I call" or "am I being annoying". Had I not called I wouldn't have gotten my IPS stuff done, they totally forgot to book it for me. Sorry you feel you have to call so much though, I know what that is like.

@skipra: lol on how you had time to do it. That's our issue I think, we have been gifted the easiest baby for #1. So my "lighthearted" comment back to the 2 under 2 comments will be "C tricked us in to another because she's so awesome/easy"

@MamaCate: lol on what others thought! Dare I ask what others thought? I hope it's less of an issue than I am dreaming up, we'll see! Agree on everyone doing what works for them (or what they think will work for them!) for us the pro's/cons of close together far outweigh the pro's/cons of further apart, it works for us, so why not, right? I bet I could really shut people up throwing my IUD story in the mix too, haha! We didn't really tell anyone about that either!

@twodoghouse: I have blood sugar issues on a normal day, let alone preggo so I am with you. I didn't have GD with #1 and I am always lightheaded nauseous after sitting to stand, or laying to stand after a while, or even for no reason, just have to hold a wall for a few. On the flip side of that I totally over do sugar a lot (like eat multiple packs of sweet tart tubes all in one sitting) and I was SURE I would have issues with that and somehow made it through, lol.

Sickness is back for another stab at me, I have been waking last few days with eyes stuck shut with goob, headachy and just all over awfulness. I may go home this aft, I am sort of just winding down from my event on the weekend (and sorting out everything in my office after it all got dumped here post-event) and I am just super beat.

The one thing I am trying to love every moment of is belly sleeping, I know those days are going to be gone soon and I am going to miss them so very much.

  29. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Beebug: sorry you're feeling ick again! And I totally agree on the stomach sleeping! I'm 14w1d and I was just thinking last night how awesome stomach sleeping is and how much I'm going to miss it.

Also the nurse was SUPER nice when she called back, so I'm glad I called. She did want to call in 1 more pill for me. And was super understanding when she asked if I was "all better" and I couldn't quite tell her. I mean honestly how is a person supposed to know if they are 100% over a UTI when they are pregnant? lol. I feel mostly better but I haven't felt "normal" in a long time anyways.

  30. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@twodoghouse: I'm having those issues, too, but not just when I wake up. Mine don't appear to be blood-sugar related for the moment-they're blood pressure related instead. I was told to drink extra fluids and make sure I'm getting enough salt. I also had an echo and an EKG (precautionary) to make sure everything was ok, which it was. Not trying to scare you, just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Hope you feel better soon!

  31. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@LovelyPlum: I didn't think of it as maybe a bp issue over a blood sugar issue, hmm!

My bp was 102/58 Thursday, I am usually pretty low, I wonder why?

  32. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@LovelyPlum: Hmm, I wonder if it is blood pressure related? It's a similar feeling to when I first started taking Parlodel (med to lower my prolactin levels) and my doctor determined my blood pressure was plummeting when I'd stand or sit up after lying down. Were your blood pressure problems because your blood pressure was too high or too low? My blood pressure is typically on the low side of normal, but high blood pressure runs in my family... Have you gotten your test results back? I hope you've been feeling better!

  33. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@MamaCate: Thanks I think part of the problem is that I don't really feel so confidentabout it and am, in fact, slightly terrified about having 2 under 2. I know we will manage but I am worried about how we are going to do it, especially with such a busy toddler as DS is. He will be 22 months when #2 arrives and I am hoping he settles down a bit before then. Lol.
