@Mae: Thanks for doing the update!
Appts list, throw me in for Nov 27th for check-up.
Hope everyone is doing well and has plans for a good weekend. So much I have wanted to post but I just haven't felt up to it with the sad news we've had. I feel bad, and so guilty, no one should have to go through a loss.
DH and I are hardly speaking, I think we are in a bit of a rut and need some bigtime communication to get us on the right track again.

@Beebug: I'm sorry you guys are having a rough patch. Maybe it is something in the water because my DH and I have been snippy at each other for a week. We actually just talked it out Wednesday and things have been much improved. It is just so easy to get off track and then be too lazy or busy to make things right for far too long!

@Mae: Thanks for the updated list! I have a check up on the 21st. Hopefully I can schedule my anatomy scan after that appointment.
@Beebug: I know what you mean about the sad news. I can't be too excited knowing the loss that others are dealing with right now.

@Mae: We are nearly derailed right now. It's sort of been tumble-weeding and is now at a boiling point. I hope we can talk it out soon. Such a waste of time to go on like things are currently! It's all on him, not even in a me not taking accountability thing, it's on him and no yelling, controlling, whatever on my part can fix it and it's so, so frustrating from my perspective, I just see him as being sooo selfish and I have shut down. It could SO easily be better, which is even more frustrating.

@Mae: Ooh ooh put me down for anatomy scan December 17 and checkup Dec 2. December will be an exciting month around here!

@Beebug: What a bummer to be feeling distant from one another during this time when I'm sure you want to feel unified!
Have you ever tried therapy? Might DH be on board to try it?
DH and I have had a few major rifts in our time together and found that a couple sessions with a good therapist reminded us how to listen, see one another's perspective, and regain equilibrium. We still see him maybe every other month, and even when things seem great already, it's always fruitful.

@anandam: Yes! I was at least thinking about getting myself back in! I and we have used it before and it's been a great tool to get us back on track. I have it for free through my employer either online, in person or phone, so no excuse on cost or timing! It's so accessible. Good thought

@Mae: I think I gave you the wrong info oops! My next appointment is Nov 19 not Dec 19. Not sure what's gonna happen then. The last time I thought it was gonna be just a check up but my doc ended up doing the NT Scan.. So we'll see

@Glitter: Oops. sorry about that! It's been too long to edit, but I'll update it in the next post!

@Mae: can you change my due date to the 21st? Thanks!
I feel bad posting good news when I know others are suffering so I will just say are 12week appt went well.

@sungirl: I'm glad to hear your 12 week appointment went well! Do you have u/s pics to share? I think we could all use some happy.

So I think I am maybe starting to show a tiiiiiiny bit. I already carried weight in my middle though so it is honestly hard for me to tell. I just noticed yesterday that my jeans are a little tight when I'm sitting down so I took a pic. First pic is me at 10 weeks when I don't think I'd changed shape at all. Second pic is me last night, 14w6d. Excuse my mess bedroom and crappy cell pic!
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mae: cute pics! you are definitely showing i can see a clear bump in the second pic that's not in the first.
Yesterday I took a pic in a dress I had worn last in July and realised how much I am showing and how much weight I have gained! (I was hoping my scale had been lying)
The first pic is in July, weeks before getting pregnant, and the second pic was taken yesterday at 14 wks, 1 day.

So I threw up IN THE CAR today, as I was driving. First trimester: it ain't over til it's over, I guess.

@whodat: omg that is horrible. I'm so sorry! I hope you had a change of clothes at least? or were able to erhm.. aim.. while driving.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@whodat: Oh gross. I did that once when I was sick and it was awful. I hope you were able to stop at least!
@Mae: @Glitter: I see bumps! You both look fantastic!

@Mae: Nope, went right back home, changed, and went back to bed. Hey, it's a federal holiday.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@whodat: Ohhh no! I hope you are feeling a little better now.
@Glitter: @Mae: loveeee the bump pics. I need to go take one right.now.
I am home for the day sick. My sickness has amped up and I can hardly move without feeling like my ribcage is going to split in half, this cough is killing me! Glands are swollen and throat feels like razors when swallowing I went to the walk-in clinic after attempting being at work and she acknowledged everything wrong with me, but can't give me anything being preggo. Fluids and rest, so home I am. Nap soon, but I have to be careful otherwise I won't sleep tonight, what a crappy cycle. My throat is better'ish now, but nighttime was awful last night.
I bawled in the car listening to Remembrance Day ceremonies. That stuff kills my heart.
I didn't post last week about it with all the sad news we had, but I told a few people about being pg last week. I told my two bosses. One cried, the other rolled his eyes and head back like "oh nooo". Of course they are happy for me, but I also know sad to be losing me again. Due date is 6 months, tomorrow. I am super close with them and know it will stay with them and help in their future planning as we plan pretty far in advance for most of what we do at work. I also told a colleague who works at a local high school, I always liked her and we work semi-close given she's in a secondary school and I work in post-secondary, turns out our new house is on her street so when we learned that of each other we were super pumped! I was talking to her last week about work stuff and she said she was 16w and would be gone by a May event we have and I closed my office door and told her, I couldn't not tell her. Will be awesome to have someone on my street to "do" baby stuff with, I really miss the two I had this with at our old house, our girls were each 3w apart. We should probably tell our parents, lol. Two more weeks.
I think I am feeling movement, but have been in denial. I felt movement early last time, and this time it's the same feeling, same time of day (between 7 and 8pm) but 2-3w earlier than last time. The reassurance of the movement is nice though.

@Beebug: I'm sorry you're so sick. I'm also feeling baby though, and it's awesome to have it happening so early
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: congrats on being "out" at least a bit! and that is fun about your coworker living near you. I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy though. Sick and pregnant is so much worse than sick OR pregnant.
What does movement feel like this early on? I know they say 2nd time moms feel it earlier because they can ID it vs 1st time moms who assume it is just normal body feelings, gas or whatever. I know it is probably too early for me to feel anything (15w1d) but I keep hoping! Particularly I occasionally feel a weird very minor jab-y feeling in my bladder. not like a kick so much as a little ping. I'm wondering if it is the baby kicking my bladder? Or maybe I'm just imagining things. Probably that.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: Ok, maybe I did feel things this early last time! Just went back and checked my email! I used to email myself stuff (like milestones, lol) so I could go back and read when I was having a tough day!! Here is what I wrote with DD:
Tuesday April 10th (13w3d) on couch and felt like someone flicked my belly from the inside. Came and went so quickly
Thursday April 12th (13w5d) on couch and felt like caterpillar was tickling my insides, came and went again in a second or two.
Tuesday April 17th (14w3d) on couch (I see a trend here!) and I was almost asleep and felt a quick jab from the inside and it startled me awake! Came and went quick again! Then again later in the night, felt like someone walking their fingers on the inside of my belly
Wednesday April 18th (14w4d) in bed and rolled over before getting up and again felt like someone was walking their fingers on the inside!
________________________
I also compare it to a moth or small butterfly fluttering on the inside! Then it gets to a point where it's like someone flicked me (like finger flick pointer finger and thumb, then "flick") from the inside!
Everyone different of course! When I got to like 30w, I compared it to sitting on one of those zero gravity lawn chairs and our dog always lays under it when I recline and when he puts his head up and it hits me/the bottom of the chair, that's what baby movement felt like, hahaha.
I am slightly obsessed with this subject, can you tell? It is probably the single most thing I love about pregnancy....after a healthy baby of course.

@Beebug: Whenever I felt something that could be the baby, I've been on the couch too! Especially when my waistband is pushing against my abdomen. To me it feels kind of like a rolling, like maybe a mouse doing somersaults.
papaya / 10343 posts
Thanks for sharing! I have not felt anything like that yet. I'm hoping in the next 2 or 3 weeks!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@whodat: Usually it's the first time I sit/relax/stop moving after a while, so it makes sense that it always happened/happens on the couch!! Mouse doing somersaults is good, I love all the things we can compare it too!
papaya / 10343 posts
@whodat: hmmm mouse doing somersaults. Sometimes when I'm sitting very still I think I feel something like that. But I always just think it is just digestion working. I really don't know if it is baby or pizza. lol. I never paid this much attention to how my abdomen felt before!

Loving all of these bump pics! I feel like a whale since it's my 2nd and I'm fluffy to begin with... let's just say all of your cute little bumps make mine look like I'm 6 months pregnant already.
@Mamacate: and @Bushelandapeck: you two are in my thoughts so sorry to hear about your losses.
So about 3 weeks ago, we went in for the NT scan and that came back good, along with my 1st tri screen bloodwork. But a couple of days later, a nurse called and said my OB wants me to come back for another U/S in two weeks because the baby's bladder was "prominent." Apparently this clears up on its own 90% of the time, but we went back on Friday and it was still prominent-- not "grossly enlarged," which is a larger measurement. Reading up on it, there's a 25% chance it's due to a chromosomal abnormality (usually tri 13 or 18), otherwise it's a physical blockage that could possibly be worked around with a shunt, requiring fetal surgery.
My OB didn't recommend a CVS or amnio yet (not sure if it's too soon, I'll be 15w tomorrow), but said just to have my anatomy scan at the hospital rather than the office since there will be a perinatologist there. So I need to make an appt to go in around 18-20 weeks for that. So fingers crossed that 1) the bladder reduces in size at our next U/S 2) there's no chromosomal abnormalities if we have to do an amnio, 3) there's no kidney failure 4) I don't know... just fingers crossed for a healthy baby overall.

@Beebug: great bump!
@HabesBabe: lol fluffy. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your 12 week ultrasound though. I'm sure it will all turn out okay. I know any issue at all must be so scary but most of the time these things are just no big deal, even if intervention is required. I have a friend who has two kids and both times she got news in her ultrasounds that something "may" be wrong with her babies. The first ended up having an issue with one leg. The second had lung issues. Both required surgery but neither was life threatening and they are both totally happy healthy normal babies now! I'll keep my fingers crossed and think positive for you.

@HabesBabe: Hoping that everything will be ok! I'm sorry that you have to worry about this.
@Whodat: that's awful, I'm sorry that you are still feeling so nauseous!
@Mae: @Beebug: @Glitter: super cute bumps!!!
So I'm finally posing a bump pic I took yesterday at 13 weeks, 1 day. I took it at kind of a weird angle, I'm terrible at taking pictures! Please ignore the super ugly bathroom!

You girls are so ADORABLE with your cute bumps. So cute! I am not sure if mine is a bump yet or still bloat!
I have been MIA - since it's my hubs 40th birthday this month, so we are doing all sorts of hubby- related stuff. We went out to the country with some friends this weekend. I needed a nap after. The girls went wine tasting on Saturday, and I drank water! Boooo! I missed wine for a second there.
I am having the worst acid reflux. My taste buds are off, everything tastes like metal and I get nauseous and throw up. I have had it for two weeks. It started with a boat load of saliva in my mouth. I tried tums and Prevacid, and last week my doc prescribed Nexium. I still have not gotten it because my insurance has to approve it, and now they are doing a 'peer review' to see if they can Approve it. I hate insurance companies!
Doc appointment next Tuesday. Maybe I will get to know the gender!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Coopersmama: the reflux doesn't sound fun and neither does drinking water at a wine tasting! But that's awesome that you might get to find out the gender next week!!!
I just had my first appointment with my OB. At first he couldn't find the heart beat with the doppler, so he pulled out his little mini ultrasound machine and I got to see the little bean again
He mentionned that I will have to decide if I want another c-section (I had one with DD because she was breech) or try for a vaginal delivery. I'm so torn. I really don't want to deal with c-section recovery (mine wasn't bad at all last time, but I'm sure it will be different when I have a toddler to deal with). On the other hand, he told me that because I had a c-section, if I try for a vaginal delivery, there is a very small chance that something terrible could happen (his exact words!) ie. a chance that my uterus could rupture during delivery and that they would take me for an emergency c-section and hopefully get there in time. yikes!
apricot / 365 posts
@cookie_dough: I had a c-section with my first and a VBAC with my second, and can say wholeheartedly that the VBAC was the best choice for me. As I understand it, there's even more risks with repeat c-sections. Also I wanted to be able to have more kids, and with more c-sections it becomes more and more dangerous.
What was the reason you got the first c-section? For me, it was failure to progress (water had broken at 8 pm, and by 8 pm the next day I was still only at 4 cm). I was afraid I wouldn't be able to progress again, but as it turned out my labor was shorter with #2 and I was able to get to 10 cm with the use of pitocin. Recovery was sooo much better. I was able to eat and drink right afterward (sushi and beer!) and walk around within 30-45 minutes. I remember being so distressed after my c-section, not being able to walk to the nursery to see my baby (she was having some issues) and coming down off the morphine. Ugh I hated the morphine soo much.
So anyway, in my experience VBACs rock, but obvi it's your decision.
kiwi / 619 posts
@whodat: I'm sorry that you had such a tough time after your c-section, but glad to hear that your vbac went well! Mine was a planned c-section because DD was breech. So I didn't have to go through labour and THEN end up in an emergency c-section, which I understand would be horrible, and way worst for recovery (at least from what I've heard). My OB didn't tell me about any of the risks of having a repeat c-section. I'll have to ask him about it! This is 99.9% sure our last LO, so I'm not too worried about the possibility of future babies.
