@Beebug: awww exciting!!! DH felt kicks only once. He is so impatient. He lays his hand there for 10 seconds and if he feels nothing he says baby likes me more than him. Psshh...

I have been fighting with work all morning. It's busy season for us and I am being asked to postpone my prenatal appointment. First, I was being asked to work back the time or forfeit pay (though I am a salaried worker), and when I showed them that that was illegal, they come with this. Wooosahhhh That's what happens when you work in a firm filled with female professionals who have absolutely no interest in family, whatsoever. *end of rant*

@Mae: If you're not satisfied with your job it can't hurt to explore other opportunities! I would just keep in mind that after baby plans often change and how flexible would a new employer be? Would the stress of a new job and new baby be more than the stress caused by your current boss? How would you feel if circumstances didn't allow you to return to work? (That's what happened to me). One of my friends found a new job just a couple months before she had her son and it worked out wonderfully for her. She is so much happier than she ever was at her old job. Good luck!

Ahhh, I have sooo much to catch up on! I took the day off yesterday to shop (so I wasn't on the computer at all) and I got all of my xmas shopping done in one morning. I am so relieved now!

mrsog: yayyyy, congrats on a little boy! I hope the issues go away in the next few weeks, and you don't have to worry abou tthem!

@Smar11: awwww, love the pic too cute!

caity713: Sorry that your little guy or girl was being stubborn. Hopefully he/she will cooperate next time!

@Mae: I'm a pretty big chicken when it comes to switching jobs, but I never see the harm in applying. If you apply and are successful, the ball is still in your court if you actually want to take the job or not I would go for it, and as you get further into the process, it will be easier to determine if it would be a good fit or not.

@Beebug: awwww, I can't wait for those first few kicks that DH can feel. I THINK I am finally starting to feel a bit of movement. Just a tiny bit though.

@Beebug: OMG so jealous! I STILL have not felt any real kicks at 20+2. Argh. Baby has been more active though in the last week. I feel her throughout the day now just floating around in there, but either I can't feel the kicks yet or she's just not that into soccer. I dunno.

@skipra: No idea how flexible they would be, but less flexible than my current situation I'm sure. Although I think judging flexibility against my current job is sort of unfair to any other job because flexibility is THE perk of this job. Everything else sucks, but that is amazing. I'm just not sure it is worth being miserable working 100% of the time anymore. This new job is for a nonprofit so I think it would have pretty good work-life balance as "normal" jobs go. Also if I couldn't return to work for some reason (which I don't see happening because I can't afford to not work so I think I'd figure it out regardless?) it wouldn't really matter which job I was in, would it?

@Coopersmama: @Mae: @skipra: @cookie_dough: Thanks guys for making me feel better. I went into the appt expecting the "everything is great" and to hear anything other than that would have set me off. The placenta issues (turns out its low and umbilical cord is sideways) would have been one thing but as soon as any other risk to my baby was introduced and new tests were being talked about I panicked. I knew you guys would have good logical answers for me and it really really helped hearing from you.
On another note, here is my boy...(he had his hand in front of his face a little and the pic of a pic came out dark but its so cool to see the actual features!)

@Mae: I know that is blowing my mind! my crazy SIL had her baby this weekend and everytime I held him I would get all emotional and think I can't believe one of these is growing in me right now!

@Smar11: @mrsog: Those 3D images are so unbelievable! How adorable they both are!
@cookie_dough: Jealous you got all your shopping done! I still have so much to do!
@Glitter: That is really annoying! I hope you work everything out with them and get to your appointment!
@Mae: I think even regular 9-5 jobs have different degrees of flexibility. I'd been with my employer for 4 years before having DS so they were willing to work with me whereas they generally were not very flexible. I went out on extended leave until the company made some lay offs and I lost my position.
@mrsog: Aww so exciting to have a new baby in the family just a few months before your baby makes his arrival!

Just had my anatomy scan, yay! All looks well and it's still a boy. Placenta has totally moved out of the way, in fact his little feet could be seen stepping on my cervix.

Those of you who've already had an anatomy scan, how much did they say your LO weighed? They said my little man was 10 oz, which seems really big to me. All the online pregnancy guides say at 18 weeks they weigh 5-7 oz.

Also they said he was measuring right on target with the due date, but when I looked at the screen it said "EDD: 5/17/14" and "EDD (AUA): 5/11/14." Which would actually put me on target for a Mother's Day due date. I would sooo love it if I had him on Mother's Day

    papaya / 10343 posts

@whodat: yay!! I had my anatomy scan at 18+1 and the baby weighed 8 oz. They said that was perfect to the day on target. So who knows haha. Maybe they say that to all moms unless you're outside some standard deviation

@whodat: Yayy!! Happy to hear your scan went well and you have a BIG healthy BOY!

My official EDD is 5/12/14 and I hopppeee he comes a little earlier so I can hold my gift on mother's day

@whodat: Yay for a great scan! Glad he's looking good and the placenta has moved! I had my anatomy scan early at the perinatologist and at 16 weeks, 5 days our boy was 6 oz and girl was 5 oz. I don't know how much they're growing each day/week, but 10 oz doesn't seem too far off for 18 weeks?

  14. whodat

    apricot / 365 posts

@twodoghouse: Wow, so you've got like over a pound of babies right now! A friend of mine had boy/girl twins and her girl was 7 lbs 3 oz and her boy was 8 lbs 3 oz.

@whodat: I haven't had my anatomy scan for this baby yet. But I remember my anatomy scan for DS was at 19 weeks 6 days and he weighed 15 oz. He was huge at birth (10lbs 9oz) so I think he was a big boy from the beginning. I'm curious to see how big this one is. I've heard 2nd babies are bigger. I sure hope not much bigger!

@whodat: I had my anatomy scan at 19 weeks and was told the bambino was 12oz and big. I looked to see how big R was at her anatomy scan and she was also 12 oz. She was 7lbs 11oz at birth. I'm not worried about it

  17. whodat

@Mamasig: Oh wow, did you have a vaginal birth?

  18. twodoghouse

@whodat: Wow, that's amazing! I hope I can keep them in long enough that they have the chance to get that big!

  19. Mamasig

    pomegranate / 3565 posts

@whodat: nope! I was measuring big at around 34 weeks so my OB ordered an ultrasound to check his size. I'm only 5'2" with a small frame. At 37 weeks, the ultrasound said 9lbs 3oz. She mentioned c section as an option and I took it. The thought of him getting hurt or stuck just scared me. Not to mention what could happen to me! He was born at 39 weeks at 10lbs 9oz. When she took him out she said there was no way he would have fit so I made the right choice.

@whodat: Awesome about your scan, and potential Mother's Day baby!!! Glad placenta moved off, and it's still a boy, ha! I didn't ever get a weight with #1, and we will see Thursday if I get anything this time!

@Mamasig: 10lbs 9oz! Woo! DD was 9lbs 1oz, and I kind of hope we don't get any bigger for the next one, ha!!

For 2nd time + Mom's, were you on time/early/over due for your babies? I am figuring I will go overdue again (DD was born at 41w!) but I would really like a May 13th baby (EDD is May 12th!) as it is my Poppa's Bday on the 13th! I doubt it will happen, but I can dream, and it really doesn't matter, but would be cool!

The only thing I really dread happening again is delivering the placenta, I don't want to get into it to freak anyone out, but essentially I was the unlucky one in however many to have trouble delivering mine, and it was about 90 mins of pushing after pushing DD out, it was the worst part, was so tired, and just wanted to hold LO!

  22. whodat

    apricot / 365 posts

@Mamasig: Same thing happened to my mom -- she's about 5 foot nothing and my brother ended up being almost 11 lbs, so no way he was going to fit.

@Beebug: I was a little late for my first and a little early for my second, with a shorter labor. I think it had more to do with when I actually ovulated rather than being the first or second baby though. I anticipate this one going early because of my super short cycles.

  23. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@whodat: Hmmm, interesting!! Not knowing O date I guess I will never know! Interesting about shorter labour though, sign me up!!

  24. cheesetomywhine

@Beebug: I was a day late with R though based on my charting she was right on time. We shall see with this one! These big babes make me worried! I thought R was big...hopefully Puff is the same or smaller.

  25. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@cheesetomywhine: I was always measuring like 2-3w behind, so we were definitely shocked when she came out so big!! I never knew though that birth weight and how they grow in the first year doesn't correspond! She was big at birth, and then aside from tall the first 6m, she was/is a pipsqueak!

  26. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

Well maybe I'm the only one hoping #2 is slightly larger than DS. He was only 5lb 12oz and we've been struggling with his weight ever since! I'm hoping for this one to be in the 6-7 lb range. I was induced last time. I'd prefer the baby to decide when he's ready this time but since we're going to be further from the hospital induction wouldn't be the worst thing. I don't have any date preference for this one. My nephew's birthday is 4/30 and our anniversary is 5/16 so those are the only days I'd prefer to avoid but any day in between is fine with me!

@Beebug: Interesting! Shows that ultrasounds can be quite off in their measurements.

@skipra: I will hope your LO is bigger then

So with my 1st pregnancy I was more conscious of taking weekly bump pics. Now I just forget most of the time. But I took one this week to compare bumps at 16 1/2 weeks. I think this bump looks pointier.

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@Mamasig: So cute! It is looking pointier!

I haven't posted a bump pic in a long time, so here I am last week.

Love the bump pics ladies! I am such a slacker about taking mine. And I have no excuse. This is my first pregnancy. And I'm a (weekend) wedding/baby photographer. D'oh. lol I think the issue is that my "new week" starts on Sunday, its is so rare that I put on real clothes on Sundays! Or um… Mondays or Tuesdays (she says as she sits here in sweats). Ah.. working from home.

  31. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Mae: My week "mark" is Monday, and my bump pics have usually been a combo of work clothes and comfies! Track pants on bottom, but nicer on top, this week was the first one I took in the morning when I looked more presentable, lol.

    @twodoghouse: You look fab!!!

@Mamasig: Bottom bump is current? What a difference in bumps!!!

@skipra: Hopefully this babe will be bigger! Was there any insight on why he was smaller at birth?

Ultrasound tomorrow!!! I might get a haircut too, I took a half day off work, but my prenatal appt isn't until 3, and u/s at 4:30, so early afternoon I am debating hacking my hair off (13 inches or so, donating it!) and making a bit of a change!!

  32. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Beebug: that would be exciting! I love getting drastically different stuff done to my hair.

Also, I am having lunch with a friend today (thus, putting on real pants) so maybe I'll actually do a 20(.5) week bump photo

  33. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Mae: Yah, I am debating just doing it. I know I will regret it (lol) and I was going to do it in the Spring, but it's just so long right now. I'm not one to do anything with my hair regardless, so feel like if I hack it now, the sooner it will start growing back so I can donate it again (I donate ever 2-2.5 years). Plus will minimize the shedding, lol. I should try to find some inspiration short hair pics, this will either help or hinder, ha!!

Loving all the bump photos! I keep saying I'm going to take one, and then I keep forgetting and only remembering when I'm already in my pyjamas. Perhaps this evening I will remember before changing into my pj's (which happens at like 6 pm hahaha)

  35. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

Baby moving right now, eeeep! Haha. I love this. 9am, 11am, 7pm, 9-11pm (somewhere in there) seem to be the movement times lately! I referred to baby as a he last night at dinner, I was like "uhhh, I don't know it's a boy, but apparently I am leaning that way" haha!

  36. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@Beebug: Aw, yay for baby movement! I love that you're noticing times that he/she is most active!

  37. mrsog

    apricot / 388 posts

@twodoghouse: love your dress! you look great.
@Beebug: I totally notice a schedule too of when he is active. mostly its after lunch and around 11 pm, which is right when I'm going to bed. I love it!

So we aren't telling our families what the sex is until xmas but its sooo hard (@Beebug I dont know how you kept the actual pregnancy a secret so long!) I already slipped to my one close friend at work and said he and she totaly caught it. I am being extra careful taking to my mom though. Only a few more days to go. I am putting the reveal gifts together and will take pics to show you guys when they are ready!

  38. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@mrsog: I think I could totally handle finding out gender and not drop that to anyone else. SO tempting, but that's not "fair" so to speak.

  39. mrsog

    apricot / 388 posts

@Beebug: I wouldn't be able to go the whole time. but the 8 days till xmas (from monday) is definitely doable - well except for the one slip lol.

  40. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@mrsog: haha! If DH ever led on to doing that I would be alllll over it! Doubtful, part me of hopes he caves tomorrow, I am fine staying team green, but ughhh it would be so fun to just KNOW!!

I seriously don't even care to tell others, purely selfish, lol.
