    @PinkElephant: yay! welcome!

@MrsSeaOtter: great! I'll add you in the next round

@tarabonno: awwww she or he is super cute!! glad to hear everything was great!

    @mrsog: yay for great results!

Anyone else sneezing like CRAZY lately? I don't have a cold or even really a stuffy nose, and I've never been the type to have sneezy allergy symptoms so I don't think its that. I actually feel 100% fine except for all the random sneezing-- so I'm going to go ahead and blame pregnancy haha.

Also, I finally took a photo almost on time this week! 21+2, don't mind the wet hair haha.

Ok, @mae, there is NO way that you could pass for not pregnant. I've been thinking about you and your job - did you end up applying? I think that I would definitely apply if I were in your shoes. Worst that can happen is you don't get it!

@Mae: I have been randomly sneezing a lot too.
And.. your corgi is so dedicated to you!! It is hilarious that he pops up in every photo. Mine is a daddy's dog. She loves me and all... but not like she loves him!

@tarabonno: lol yea I feel like I really popped in the last 2-3 weeks

Ohmygoodness. All your bumps look so cute!! Mine is showing up too, and I can't blame it all on pizza or gas. Sometimes I still rub my belly when I see people questioning if I am preggos or just fat

This is the picture I posted on Saturday at exactly 20 weeks, with the caption: Oh! We're halfway there! Oh-oh! Living on a prayer.

Even though I am still on vacay, I decided to do a little 'work' today and work on our registry. Two of my girlfriends are already in planning mode for my shower. We picked March 9th for the date. I had my DH research all the 'big items'- stroller, monitor etc. He got really into it. LOL! I picked the smaller, cute stuff. Way more fun. We have 70 things on the list. Is that crazy? I have 65 people on my invitation list. Is that crazy too? (girlfriends, family members, lots of friends from college and living overseas). Most won't come, since they live elsewhere, but i figured to do it as a courtesy.

@coopersmama: I'm totally with you on the belly rubbing - I try to stick mine out and hold it when I'm after a "courtesy seat" on the bus so people don't think I'm just packing some extra holiday pounds. I'm still at a point where the wrong outfit makes me look chubby instead of preggo...and often carrying around my 18 month old, who hides the bump!

Hope your Christmas was Merry ladies. @twodoghouse- your right. 2014 is a big year. I feel like these next few months might go super fast! (Except for the last few weeks when we are all tired of being preggo).

Hi all! Back home after our travels

I agree that I think things are going to start moving really fast now. We decided on March 8 for my shower, so now I really need to get registered in the next few weeks! And do a nursery. And read a bunch of books on how to like, get this kid out of me and keep her alive. haha.

I'm sure April will drag on forever but I think the next 3 months will fly.

@Mae: I am definitely seeing a cute bump!

@Coopersmama: beautiful pic! where r u vacationing? looks like a lovely place to wake up to!

Christmas was very quiet for us. DH recovered from his flu and immediately I caught it. So we weren't able to host Christmas breakfast as planned and we stayed indoors for both Christmas and Boxing Day. He took good care of me though and we had two quiet days to ourselves which was nice Next week we have our very mini-babymoon which was our gift to each other.

Baby has been moving like CRAZY these past few days! Actually yesterday after we woke up DH and I were just lazing on the bed, i was on my back and my belly started jumping! It was so crazy and awesome at the same time! Movement has increased significantly - I guess G is really feeling the season

I have no idea when my shower will be or if I'll even have one. I didn't grow up in this country so I have very few close friends and no family (apart from DH and his family) and I'm really not sure if I should be planning a shower or if it's supposed to be a surprise?

  12. Coopersmama

    cherry / 129 posts

@glitter- we are in the Bahamas. Two more days here and then back to reality.

@Mae- the way you described your to-do list just made me chuckle. Read a bunch of books on how to like, get this kid out of me and keep her alive. LOL! Seriously, I feel the same way. We were able to do lots of reading while on vacay (both of us are total Type A's). My favorite books have been Baby 411 (Good, unbiased, science based information), and the Dr. Sears book. (Even though DH and I have decided we are not going all the way attachment parenting styles- but there was lots of helpful information)

@Glitter- i am glad you are feeling better right before the babymoon. Sleep in LOTS.

So, DH decided to review all the registry stuff we had for 'safety issues'. LOL! This is what happens when you have lots of time on your hands 'babymooning'. Good thing he did. We were so surprised to find out certain things that we thought were pretty standard have had some kind of safety recall or recommendation. The ones that surprised me the most were - amber necklaces, teething tablets and JUMPERS/Walkers. Apparently Canada banned jumpers and walkers. Can you confirm this Canadians? WILD!

  13. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Glitter: I haven't heard of a person throwing a shower for themselves, although I'm sure it has been done! Would your DH's family maybe throw you one? I think everyone does them differently-- some people have a few and some people none! I think I'm having just one with my family that my mom is throwing and 2 of my good friends are coming to. I'm not inviting the rest of my friends bc the shower won't be local to where we live, and DH's family hasn't offered to do anything for his family, so oh well!

@Coopersmama: I'm impressed you've already read some! I thought I would be type-a but I'm really not. I've had 2 baby books sitting on my bedside table since week 6 (ina may gaskin guide to childbirth and the mayo clinic guide). I've read like 30 pages of the ina may book and i sort of hate her. I may give up on that one. I also got two books for Christmas-- the baby whisperer and Let's Panic About Babies (which is really mostly just for fun I think, but I've flipped through and it is hilarious-- highly recommend http://www.amazon.com/Lets-Panic-About-Babies-Worthwhile/dp/031264812X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388250996&sr=8-1&keywords=let%27s+panic+about+babies ). Really need to get on this reading thing! 18 weeks if she doesn't come early!

Also has anyone had any super creepy dreams about babies? I had one last night about going to the doc for my 38 week appt but she was running late so I decided to take a walk and all of a sudden I could hear one of my babies (oh yea, in the dream I was having twins) talking to me. It was like "wahhh wahhhh get me outttt" and I ran back to the doctor all--- it can talk?! and why can I hear it?! and she's like oh yea thats normal and I was all weirded out. lol.

  14. Coopersmama

    cherry / 129 posts

@mae- I just clicked on the book and it looks HILARIOUS!!!! I am going to see if I can get it from the library. Funny always makes for a nice break.

@mae- I have not read that much about the actual birthing. My friend gave me the Ina May book because she said I needed to hear some positive birthing stories and see some positive birthing images. I think by page 5 I was like- Oh lordy!!! She gave it to me in the first few weeks where I was FREAKED OUT about a baby coming out my hoohah. (Who am I kidding, I still am- now I just don't think about it).

My Ob gave us two pregnancy books. Expecting 411 and A girlfriend's guide to pregnancy. He then asked us to promise not to read anything else pregnancy related, and read more about after baby comes. He said- a lot of the other books might freak me out. So I have not put that much reading into the preggos and birthing side. DH and I are also torn about taking classes like Bradley or Hypnobirthing. They seem super long. Are any of you taking them? We are tempted to just do the day long orientation at the hospital.

@Mae: maybe DHs family will. His sister planned my first bridal shower but I haven't heard of any plans and don't want to be so rude as to ask... But I do want to know what's happening to know if to go crazy and start purchasing items or to be patient and wait and see what we get as gifts.

Lol @ that dream! I had a weird one last week too. I dreamt I was breast feeding while doing dishes and baby fell into a bottle I was washing and I had to pour out all the water to find him. And when I did I found him and his twin sister (who I never knew existed). And then it got morbid.... She was not breathing and his organs were bleeding out of his back but as the water dried his organs went back in and skin closed up and I was relieved! Held him on my index finger and DH and I decided to take him for a drive because we were so happy he survived. Totally weird.

@glitter and @mae- pregnancy dreams are soooo soooo strange. Mine involve people who I have not seen or thought of in years. Like the girls who tormented me in elementary school etc. I can only remember who was there, but I cannot remember the details.

@glitter- does your SIL have kids? Did you see her during the holidays? Maybe ask her a 'baby-related' question to prompt her. Is that too pushy?

  17. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Coopersmama: oh no you were tormented at school hope you got back at them in the dreams! No, SIL has no kids. She and her husband had been trying for about a year until their sudden divorce last year so it's a bit of a sore topic. That's why I don't want to ask or even expect that from her at this point.

  18. Coopersmama

    cherry / 129 posts

@glitter- yes. I went to all girls catholic school. The worst mean girls ever. But, its OK... last year at my reunion I was very, very smug

About SIL- yikes! I can see how it can be a sore topic. I would create a registry anyways- even if it is not for a baby shower. I am certain some people (work colleagues, out of town relatives) might ask you where you are registered so that they can send a gift- even if they are not local.

The one thing I am bummed about right now is knowing my sister will not be planning or likely attending my shower. Things are a little rocky between us because frankly she is self-involved and this is the one time I needed it not to be about her. Arrrgggghhh- makes me really sad, but I also appreciate my friends who are more sisterly than she is.

  19. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Coopersmama: well we live in Trinidad so there aren't any registries or easy shipping. I might just decide to plan my own shower lol.

Maybe you could try reaching out to your sister if you think you can handle it. My older sister and I have a somewhat strained relationship but since this pregnancy we seem to be doing better. The excitement of babies can work wonders!

  20. Coopersmama

    cherry / 129 posts

@glitter. LOL! You might not have showers in Trinidad, but you have great beach time and REALLY GOOD FOOD!!! Is baby stuff expensive in Trinidad?

  21. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Coopersmama: ehhh the beaches here are OK. I'm from St Lucia where the real good beaches are! Trinidad definitely has good food though! For sure. Sounds like you've been here?

Baby items are very expensive throughout the Caribbean. Actually DH and I recently started a business importing and selling maternity and baby items and with a decent profit we're still able to compete.

  22. Coopersmama

    cherry / 129 posts

@glitter. I have not been to Trinidad. I have a number of friends from there including my adopted family when I was in College, so I are lots of trini food. I am planning a trip at some point since one of my friends is opening a resort in Tobago.

Because of having really good trini food, I was bummed in Barbados and Bahamas because I thought I would have really good carib food. Goes to show- all islands are very different.

Smart move doing the maternity baby business. Now that baby is on the way, I think it would so fun owning a baby store. LOL!

  23. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Coopersmama: Tobago is awesome! Lots to do outdoors and coupled with the good food makes it an excellent vacation. The inlaws have a house over there and it's so much fun to do weekend getaways.

Yes the islands are all so different - the accents, food, music, culture. You really have not been to all when you've been to one as most people think.

@Glitter: I went to St. Lucia on our honeymoon. It was beautiful!

@Glitter: Thats so cool you're from St. Lucia and live in Trinidad! I always think its crazy/cool when people live in vacation spots. I sort of can't imagine. I haven't ever been to the Caribbean, but my parents have been all over and St. Lucia was their favorite island. Except my mom said there were a lot of stray cats at her resort she felt badly for… random lol.

  27. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Mae: also I did my three university years in Jamaica, my mom is Guyanese and dad is half Barbadian. I'm a real Caribbean melting pot!

Stray cats (and dogs) are the norm in this region sadly. We don't have homeless shelters for animals. At least none that I am aware of. So that would explain your mom's experience.

Funny enough we often take our vacation location for granted. Most people save up to visit New York or Florida or other state for the awesome malls and shopping experience and amusement/theme parks that we do not have here, or travel during winter months to somewhere they can experience snow. I've never ever seen snow

  28. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Glitter: wow, I can't imagine having never seen snow! Although I imagine it would be a little hard to plan to see it because even in areas that *usually* have snow there is rarely a time you can totally guarantee it. Unless you're in like, Alaska or something haha. Plus packing would be a nightmare I'm sure. I just can't wrap my head around how different every day life would be in a vacation spot. My brother is obsessed with Jamaica and always says he wants to retire there and we're like yea uh huh okay who actually gets to LIVE in a place like that.. whatever. lol

  29. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Mae: Wow! So interesting to hear such a different perspective! Until I met my husband I tried so desperately to get out of the Caribbean and find a job in a developed country for career purposes. He has businesses here that he can't leave so in marrying him I gave up that dream, lol. But yes if you're talking retirement, definitely. I would love to retire in a vacation home within walking distance from the beach. Everyday life here though is not always that glamorous lol.

@Coopersmama: what jumpers are no good recall-wise? We used "the" jolly jumper, I can't imagine it has anything out on it for recall? Loved it, one of our fave baby gear items.

Walkers have been banned for ages, too many idiots let their kids go over/down the stairs in them. But like push walkers (walking aids) are good? We have one anyway, definitely get used if you want tho too, like we got one for $5 2nd hand, baby gear adds up!

Also banned here, or were, rock n plays! I heard about them on here, and a lot of my Oct 2012 Momma's loved them, but I never knew what they were! My SIL has one for my nephew that they were given, it was snuck across the border (lol) but it seemed amazing!

I am home from ILs across country, I have read everyone's posts, but will respond tomorrow, just had to reply to the Canadian mention Dog show tomorrow, not back to work til Thursday. DD is teething, sick, plus all the travel, we're struggling. I was sick early in the trip, incl 4 vomits the morning of our 7am flight! We some how got away in the thick of the crazy ice storm here! Anyway, glad to be back in my own bed.

Missed my 20w pic, oops. My enemy joined me again a few nights ago, why so soon? Heartburn. Shoot me. This kid is going to be a hairy mammoth if it's starting this early. Not much exciting preg wise, but am officially out, even Facebook public now, and letting the belly out is awesome!

We had my parents over for lobster tonight (flew back with Atlatic lobster!) to thank them for watching our dog, and I laid on the livingroom rug on my back tonight and they could all see my belly moving. Baby was moving like crazy, was pretty awesome for them to see!

Bedtime, hope all is well ladies!

Hi everyone! I just had my 18 week appointment and everything looks good! I have my anatomy scan in two weeks and hopefully I can stay strong and be Team Green still!

Hi everyone! We had our follow up anatomy scan today as well as my 20 week appt. Our little one decided to cooperate a bit better today and it looks like we are having a little GIRL!!! Everyone thought we were having a boy, lol. We were so excited to find out that we also started the registry process at Babies R Us today! So many choices!!!

Has anyone else started a registry yet?

@caity713: congrats on your little girl! Do you have any name ideas for her?

@Mrs Hazelnut: We did Target and Babies R Us registries last night and tonight - completely online! I had already checked out the brands we wanted for a few things so I felt like online was ok. Hope I don't regret that... My MIL's family is planning my first shower for 2/15 so she was anxious for us to get a registry together.

We've also made huge strides on our nursery! Last week when we were in Chicago for Christmas we ordered cribs from Pottery Barn. On Saturday we put together shelving units for the closet and ordered our dresser/changing table. I know it's still early, but my husband is in major nesting mode! I think with the uncertainty of twins, he just wants to get everything done as soon as possible.

I am getting emotional about ringing in 2014. I can't believe this is the year I am going to become a mommy! Anyone else feeling like this?

Here's a pic of our new closet setup (looking a bit empty - we might add another set of shelves!)

@twodoghouse: no names yet! My stubborn husband wouldn't talk seriously about names until we new the sex so we're just getting started with the real discussion.

Anyone have any advice on crib mattresses? Is any one actually better than another??

@Mrs Hazelnut: I just started working on my registry, so far i've narrowed down my stroller options. DH and i are researching other major stuff and double checking recalls for items we intend to buy used.
I found http://www.registry.com and this site allows me to merge stuff from various online stores into 1 place. We're probably going to use that to make stuff easier for us.

@twodoghouse: awww cute stuff! I'm getting started on nursery planning this week too! Actually just about to start a thread asking for advice on layout!
