@Mae: omg about sizes!!! DD was 9lbs 1oz and I am interested to see what size #2 will be! I was 8lbs 8oz, DH was 8lbs 7oz, and I am not sure about how close to his due date he came!
I could work up to due date, but I know I won't want to, lol.
persimmon / 1281 posts
I hope that theory is true ... I was a little over 7 lbs and DH was a little under. Hoping for a healthy, but not too big baby!
I'm thinking of starting my maternity leave/quitting my job from April 1st. It is 6 weeks in advance but I drive 3 hours daily (1.5 hrs each way) and the commute is really tiring me out, already.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Glitter: I commuted about 90 minutes each way with my first pregnancy up until 7 months and it definitely took a toll on me. If you can start leave early, I would.
I'll be working until the baby comes so I can have more time off on the back end. 12 weeks is just not enough!

Soooo I haven't had a chance to catch up...but I wanted to update since we had our anatomy scan today. We are 100% team green failures!!! DH wanted to know so badly that I had to give in...annnnnddddd...add another boy to the list! I'm kind of in shock. I'm totally happy, but I never really thought I would have a boy (even though I had a boy feeling in the beginning) . I haven't quite processed it! I always assumed DD would have a little sister! But DH is ecstatic ...it's pretty cute

We are 22+1 today and OMG, i was worried about the return of nausea but i am so glad its just just me! On the bright side, its not so bad, and i've still managed to gain a total of 14lbs so far in the pregnancy.

@cookie_dough: NO way!!!!!!!! Ahhh congrats on your boy!!!
@Glitter: Oh my goodness about your commute, that is a lot. Will you look for work following baby and some time, or are you going to be a SAHM?

Anyone decide on car seats yet? I think I'm trying to decide between Graco and Chicco Keyfit .
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Beebug: My husband and I just opened a baby store so I'm hoping that becomes my "part-time" work. If that venture is successful I might just run that from home. If not, I'll seek something part-time, within close proximity to home, after 6 mnths or so with baby. Possibly my FIL's business. I doubt I'll be returning to my field because all possible jobs are at least 1.5 hours from where we live, where DH works, where we go to church and where extended family lives and the nature of the work is too corporate/non-family friendly for the life we would like to have.
@Mae: We have been looking at some GRACO Carseats (Pasadena in particular) though a relative has one we may borrow... if it's in good shape, etc. MIL keeps asking us not to make purchases until my shower... yet I have no clue that I'm even having a shower, so we're just browsing for now and not settling on anything for sure yet.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Glitter: Nice. I think I'm leaning Graco. Chicco seems a little more popular but I can't figure out why. And Graco is cheaper + my friend has an extra base we could use. So I think that is probably going to be the choice.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: we have (and will stick with) Graco! We have the Snugride 35 with two bases, and then two MyRide65's we use now. I moved her out of the bucket early, just before 5m, but loved it while we used it! My biggest thing was the buckles, I was really picky with testing the buckles, some were such a pain on other brands!
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mae: I keep reading that Chicco safety systems are superior so that could be why. I actually haven't researched Chicco much. Graco felt more like a trusted household name to me.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Mae: We're doing the Chicco Keyfit. I have one friend who got Graco and hated it (I don't really know why?) and several friends who got Chiccos and liked them.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Mae: we used the chicco keyfit 30 with DS. We liked it and LO#2 will use it too.
I would register for a convertible car seat too. We didn't and wish we would have. We stopped using the infant car seat around 6 months.
clementine / 770 posts
@Mae: We decided on and bought the Britax B-Safe infant seats mostly because it was compatible with our stroller, and my DH wouldn't even consider any other seat because he found that Baby (Prince) George was taken home in that stroller. lol. But anyways we registered for the Britax Marathon convertible seats.

Glad to hear everyone is doing pretty well! I feel like I keep going MIA - this time with an interesting reason. We accidentally bought a house last week! We got the itch to look online while having some nursery decorating frustrations with our 140 year old house, found a house we liked, went to see it, made a low offer, and had that low offer accepted!
So.... we are going to be moving sometime in February. Yikes! Fingers crossed that our current house will sell FAST.
I got a pregnancy body pillow for Christmas. Didn't think I'd need it, but WHOA. Where has that thing been all my life? I think I'll keep it beyond being pregnant, because it's made a huge difference in how long I can sleep between getting up to pee! I would say it's totally worth the money.
We're going with the Britax B-Safe infant seat too. Compatible with the stroller we chose and good safety ratings.
Does anyone else have the book "Baby Bargains"? Someone gave it to us as a gift and it's been so helpful for choosing baby gear!
Can you believe that 4 months from now, we'll be watching this thread for pictures of our babies?!? Can't believe it!!!

Wow! Just played catch up
@tarabonno- a friend/client got me the baby bargains book. It has been incredibly helpful.
@Apex- we are also getting the Britax. DH and I went over to the baby store this past weekend and tried it in the back of our car. We are also getting the Bob stroller and the Britax is compatible with that. Someone gifted us their old City mini stroller, so we will be using that us our travel stroller.
@mae- we are getting the Jenny Lind crib. I did not know it came in black until I saw your post with the two options I like the other crib you picked as well. Very pretty. I think we will be either going with the yellow or blue color of that crib.
We have been working on our registry and had done it entirely online. I think I saw that someone else had done that as well, but you all are right. I should set up something for the people who will buy last minute gifts. My shower just got moved to March 23rd.
Oh that pregnancy pillow is the BEST THING IN THE WORLD!!

@tarabonno: omg a house!! So exciting, congrats!! And yep, I have that book too And yessss omg baby pics. I'm getting so anxious to meet this little girl
And YES body pillow. Now that I figured out my new sleeping arrangements (2 head pillows, body pillow, mattress pad) I have been sleeping so great. I only got up ONCE to pee last night. one time!!!
@Coopersmama: I did my registry totally online too! I did pay attention to stuff that was available in stores though, so hopefully ppl who want to shop in person can (why on earth would anyone do such a thing though? heh)

Hi guys!! I'm back! Sorry for being MIA for so long. I've been keeping up with everyone on my phone, but my phone sucks so it is too hard to post. I was absolutely swamped at work from the end of October through the holidays and then we all got sick. I have had the worst cold/sinus infection since New Years. My ob said that I could take some sudafed if I wanted, but I've been trying to tough it out without taking anything.
We had our 20 wk u/s and everything is great. I was a little worried b/c I've had some spotting off and on, but my ob doesn't seem too concerned. She did a cervical check just to be safe at my last appointment, but she said everything is fine. They think maybe I broke a cervical blood vessel or something like that. Our u/s took almost 2 1/2 hours b/c I was having some contractions and the baby was too squished to roll over. They made me walk a bunch and basically tipped me upside down to try to get the baby to flip over. It was a hassle, but actually pretty cool to see the contractions on the u/s.
Oh and the important things!! We are team green! I didn't think we would be patient enough to wait, but now that we've decided I'm actually pretty excited about the suprise. Also I they've changed my due date to May 9th. DD's b-day is April 27th, so I'm hoping this baby doesn't come early!!
I'm glad I decided to post b/c I just realized I haven't scheduled any more dr's appointments so I should probably call this morning and get them on the calendar.

@tarabonno: So exciting about house, congrats! I think I went crazy one day re-pinning a lot of your stuff on pinterest, so pardon me for that, ha!! New house = endless pinterest fun!!
@Keds: yay team green! I so want to bail!! But then have moments of sticking team green and thinking how pathetic I sound wanting to find out gender!!
Have some big family drama that erupted last night, trying to stay calm and not get too stressed. Baby on the inside is moving and all good, so trying to focus on the positive. Super cold temps still flying here, does anyone have a maternity winter jacket? I am thinking I am going to need to get one soon, I was hoping to get away without one, but don't think it'll happen.
apricot / 365 posts
@Mae: I got a Chicco Keyfit that my mom is now planning on using for the new baby, so I need to get a new one. I chose Chicco because I read up the Consumer Reports reviews and they had the highest rating and the Keyfit was pretty small. I'll probably just stick with Chicco but if I find a lighter one I would get that -- they get heavy FAST.
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mae: we have the graco snugride 35. We were expecting to have a huge (10 pound) baby boy...and had a smaller baby girl instead, so we probably didnt' need to go with the 35 (although this time we could end up with the 10 pound baby boy!) I liked it enough, but found it to be veryyyy heavy, since it's bigger than most car seats. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have gotten the 35.
@tarabonno: congrats on the new house!
@Keds: Yay for being team green! I can't believe we failed at team green
@Beebug: sorry to hear about the drama never fun. I don't have a maternity jacket...but I feel like i'm going to need SOMETHING soon. I so don't want to pay a lot for a jacket i'm going to use for 2 months...but I can just barely zip my current jacket.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@tarabonno: Congrats on the new house! That sounds exciting but stressful! I hope you're able to stay nice and rested despite all the changes.
@Keds: Glad your 20 wk ultrasound went well and congrats on being Team Green!! Do you have a guess on boy or girl or are you feeling neutral about it?
@Beebug: I'm so sorry about the family drama. I hope you'll be able to stay non-stressed, even though I'm sure it's hard. I was going to try to make it through winter without a maternity jacket, but that was wishful thinking. Apparently I had no idea how huge I would get so fast! Luckily my cousin lent me her jacket, which has been a lifesaver. If I didn't have her's I would probably be trying to make do without a maternity jacket, but it's been so cold that I probably would have bit the bullet by now.
I have another appointment tomorrow. I feel like I go to the doctor all the time, and I guess I do since our appointments are usually every two weeks with either OB or peri. I'm anxious to go tomorrow, though, because I've been having terrible pain below my right ribs, usually after eating. It's probably that I'm just running out of stomach space for food (even though I'm on this regimen of tiny meals every 2 hours). However, I googled (bad idea, of course) and saw that it can be an indicator of gall bladder problems, which is already common in pregnancy and more so when there are multiples. So we'll see what she says tomorrow about it.
On the good news front - my husband got to feel the babies kick a lot last night! About a week ago he felt one little kick but he hasn't been able to feel another since. Well last night they were kicking up a storm and we were able to sit there for about 10 minutes feeling intermittent baby kicks. So so amazing!

Wow! I got behind during the holidays and getting back to work. Love hearing about everyone's nurseries and all that has been going on! I apologize for not personally responding, but I did want to comment on a few things.
Decals - We used a name one in my ds's room that was from etsy, but was difficult to install and one time use. We have also used peel and stick kind is my stepdd's room and they are cute. They don't look as fancy but they can be moved as many times as you like.
Carseat - we have the chicco keyfit and loved it. Will use again. Definitely recommend.
I second the recommendation to register for a convertible car seat. We needed 3 (one for my car, one for DH and one for the IL's since they watch ds) and it adds up. We got Britax which I like but I want to look into the Chicco nextfit since we love the infant seat so much.
We are keeping the nursery exactly the same since we are having another boy and moving DS into a new room. We are looking at a convertible crib from craigslist this weekend. I didn't want to buy a new crib since he will be 20mos when the baby gets here and I'm not sure how long it will be before he starts climbing out.
I'm 21 weeks today and feeling great. This was my favorite part of pregnancy last time and I felt good until the last 2 weeks, hoping for the same again!
Hope you all have a great rest of the week and I will try to stay more up to date.

@twodoghouse: awwwww yay about the kicks!!! That is SO exciting! I got to feel a kick with my hand for the first time last night and I can't wait until she starts kicking that hard regularly so my husband can feel too (note this because I'm sure I'll regret it soon lol). Also yay for a coat! I can still button mine except for the bottom button so I think I'm going to just tough it out. I'm not outside that much anyways.
@sungirl: Glad you're feeling great! I'm 23.5 weeks and starting to feel mildly uncomfortable but I"m hoping it just doesn't get too much worse until the end hah
cherry / 228 posts
@beebug So sorry to hear about your family drama. Hope it works out soon.
I can still zip my down puffy coat but those days are numbered. It has a tie around the waist, so I think I'll be able to leave it open and just tie it and button it around my chest for days when we aren't having a polar vortex (seriously - Canada friends, is this what your winter is like all the time? Oh my gosh. Our pipes froze. And it wasn't even as cold as it was more north??). My friend lent me a wool maternity coat but it's been too cold here this week not to wear my down coat!
Yay for husbands feeling kicks! Our baby was kicking up a storm the other night and I was joking that when it is a teenager, I'm going to sneak into its room right as it's falling asleep and kick it and wake it up for revenge! Just kidding. Mostly.

My big ultrasound was today. The baby looks great and we found out its a boy! My mommy intuition was wrong - I really thought it was a girl. But so excited to think I will now have two little boys to love!

Wow...I am totally behind on this thread! I can't keep up!
I don't know about all of you, but it's really hitting me that I'm going to have a newborn in less than 4 months...kind of freaking out (in a good way
My bump seems to really have popped and by the end of the day I am huffing and puffing with it pushing into my ribs...it's a tad uncomfortable.
Hope everyone is doing well! This time is going to fly by!

@Mamasig: congrats!!! I had it my head that we would have a girl as well, and found out on Monday that we are having a boy
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: Another boy! Congrats!!!
I have been asking a lot of 2+ Mom's on how their pregnancies compared and their gender intuition, so now my head is totally messed up on boy or girl, I really don't know! All things make me think boy, but any reason I think that someone with more than one disproves it, haha so I have nothing.
My bump popped too, I am still waiting for my first "are you pregnant" from a random though!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Beebug: you just never know!!! I thought it was a girl because of a feeling plus the pregnancies have more differences than similarities. Nope - all boy! It's so true how each pregnancy can be so different.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: At this point if it was a girl I would be SO blown away because of the differences in the pregnancies. So I am preparing for boy, don't care either way so long as healthy, and I honestly couldn't tell you what I would prefer. At first I would have said girl hands down, then starting preparing for a boy and almost feel I would be let down if it did turn out to be a girl! hahaha. I seriously just re-sold team green to myself, this is why it is so fun not to know!!
apricot / 309 posts
@Mamasig: Congratulations on another boy! I was the same way sure it was a girl b/c my pregnancy but nope another boy. A friend of mine has 3 boys and had 3 completely different pregnancies so you never know!

Ummmm... anybody having Braxton Hicks? I feel these weird intermittent tightening sensations and I'm really not sure if I should be concerned. 2nd time moms, how would you describe Braxton Hicks?
kiwi / 619 posts
@Glitter: no advice to offer, I don't remember feeling any braxton hicks last pregnancy But I hope it's nothing to worry about. I got kind of worried myself the other night. I was getting crampy feelings that would come and go, and seemed like they were happening on fairly regular time intervals...so i thought maybe contractions/braxton hicks? But it didnt' really feel like tightening, more just cramps. But it seems to be gone now.
