@Glitter: I know what you mean, although I remain grateful that I'm not terribly uncomfortable yet so I don't really want to complain about being pregnant because I know it could be (and may get) much worse. But for the last several weeks I've been very torn between being so over being pregnant and just wanting her to BE here already, while also feeling totally unprepared and like we really need to soak up these last few months pre-baby before our whole lives change.

@Mae: Thanks for updating the calendar! I love that format. I totally would've been crying watching that too. I'm pretty much banned from all that kind of stuff right now. And btw, I had no idea Darlene had a baby on that show! I guess I only watched the earlier episodes.

@twodoghouse: How adorable! We are also teaching our sweet little corgi about "baby's room" - she's getting supervised visits while we hang curtains, put together furniture, etc. Just making sure she gets used to it but doesn't pee on the rug I haven't fully decided to keep!
@Glitter: I am pretty sure I have this going on too. The pain has been really unpleasant. I was kind of freaked out about it TBH until I consulted Dr. Google. I totally agree that it feels like you're getting hit with a bat down there! It's like it's bruised, but on the bone, and someone is pressing on the bruise really hard.
A couple weeks ago, my SI joint was just killing me. I went to the chiropractor who told me that my pelvis was tilted and out of alignment. She worked on it, and it helped... but now I am wondering if it was just another symptom of symphysis pubic dysfunction, but on the back of the pelvis rather than the front.
Does anyone else feel like they are carrying super low and deep? I have felt plenty of movement, but it is all close to the pubic area and in my lower abdomen. Haven't felt anything even close to belly button or ribs! Hopefully that's nothing to be worried about.
I am excited to have my appointment today - I am meeting a different doctor at the practice, hopefully this one doesn't tell me that I've gained too much weight like my usual OB did last time!

@skipra: It's like 5 episodes from the end. The whole last season sucks honestly, so you didn't miss anything haha.
@gingerblonde: It might just be how your kid likes to hang out? Mine seems to split time between head up and head down. When she is head up I feel movement mostly in my lower abdomen/pelvic/bladder region. I only feel up-high kicks when she's doing headstands.

@Mae: We are team green!!! Thanks for asking @Mae.
I have not been around much lately but our current to-do items are calling daycare centers and in-home daycares to set up appointments. I am dreading the reality check when I find out exactly how much day care costs! The other (more exciting) to-do is researching and shopping for our new baby room furniture! Anyone have a DaVinci Kalani 4 in 1 crib? Do you like it? I found a pretty good deal on one but I can't decided between White or Espresso (dark brown). I am worried the white will get scuffed up really fast. We want the crib to last for future #2/#3 down the road.
Also... what's the word on Gliders? Is that the typical purchase for nursing chair in the baby room? I found one for about $450 which I thought was pretty reasonable.
Next appointment for me is tomorrow!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@gingerblonde: your baby is probably just breech right now. Mine has flipped head down and is really low so most kicks are belly button area. And right now he has hiccups which feels like my pelvis is vibrating.
So sorry for everyone dealing with all that pain. I'm not too familiar with the pelvic pain but my tailbone gets really sore. I know I've said it before but getting you so to figure out how to squeeze your hips to relieve pressure can be a godsend. Maybe it would help pelvic pain too.
@Momma_Nessie: we got a cheap Poang rocker from Ikea for DS and I hate it for nursing. So we ordered an upholstered glider and ottoman tor the new baby. I don't like the looks of the traditional glider so we got on that looks like an arm chair.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Momma_Nessie: we have a different da vinci crib in white and have been very happy with it. So far it has survived 2 moves and aside from losing a couple screws looks just the same. I will say on the one we have the screws are visible which is kind of annoying and we received ours with a crack in one of the non-structural pieces. The white has definitely held up so if that's your preference I'd say go for it.

@Momma_Nessie: We bit the bullet and spent more than we planned on a Best Chairs Storytime rocker/glider/recliner. It's the Tryp model. We originally planned to spend a bit less but as we researched and read reviews, Best Chairs kept coming up. We wanted something as an investment to last through the years/hopefully several children. When I went to "test it out", I almost fell asleep in it, it was so comfy! That's why we ended up spending like $700, but hopefully it will be worth it. I know people who spent much more than us on glider/rockers, and also much less...

@Momma_Nessie: My parents gifted us a really nice fancy glider, and my cats have completely destroyed it We put it in the living room because it was too big for the nursery. I didn't actually use it that much (but I didnt' end up bf-ing). In the nursery we have an ikea poang. It was fine for us, but once again, it may be different if i was actually nursing!
So I finally did it...I wore DH's ski jacket to work. I look completely ridiculous, but it was Oh. so. comfortable. I will have to see if I can take a pic at some point to show you guys!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Momma_Nessie: My parents wanted to gift us a glider, so we went shopping with them and it was actually our first real baby purchase! We got this one from Babies r us: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=23701056&cp=2255957.2273443.2255986.2256276&parentPage=family with the matching ottoman: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=24792496&cp=2255957.2273443.2255986.2256276&parentPage=family
It is sooooooo comfy omg haha. I didn't want the recliner kind because all of those that I tried locked to not allow gliding when reclined. I wanted to have my feet up AND glide. Also we liked this one because the back is high enough that it is comfortable for my 6'3" husband.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S Day May Mommas! Does anyone have any fun dates planned with their DH??
DH and I are going to buy our crib tonight!! That will be our "date"! We'll probably go out to dinner tomorrow night.
@cookie_dough: That is awesome that you wore your DH's ski jacket! I love it. I haven't raided DH's closet yet, but he did offer the other night.
@Mae: thanks for the recommendations. DH and I will have to check out Babies r us and see what they have for gliders/recliners.

I may have found a 2011 BOB Revolution duallie for $200. Holy crap if so. DH will kill me, haha, but I waaaaant one and that is such a good deal.
I am wearing jeans today (yay dress down day!) but they're not full panel, just half/stretchy part where button and zipper would go. I wore them every day (I swear!) last pregnancy and they were so comfy, this time? Ugh, I am ready to throw them in the garbage.

No date night for me! We don't really do valentines day. The idea of going out when everyone else is going out is just not appealing to us-- we don't like people that much. So we'll be staying in It is also our 7 year dating anniversary, so we did get each other cards and candy.
apricot / 388 posts
@Mae: ha this is exactly us too! I would never go out to dinner on Valentines day bc I can't stand the crowds. I say all the time that I hate people and crowds and yet I live in NYC and love it. go figure! Although I work in Time Square and I get very easily annoyed by the tourist crowds.
Every Friday I make a pizza so I got pepperonis to make a heart shape on it. that is the extent of us celebrating

@mrsog: lol more than I'm doing tonight. I'm making stir fry. It isn't even red.

No big plans for us tonight. We are going to make tacos and watch a movie I think. Hopefully I will stay awake for the whole movie (I can barely make it through a 30 minute sitcom these days).
@Beebug: Wow, that's an amazing deal! I just found a double stroller on craiglist as well, but it's just a baby trend sit and stand...we aren't getting anything too fancy I figure that if DD is in daycare 2 days a week and with my mom one day a week, we don't need a great double stroller.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I am with you ladies. We never go out period, so if/when we finally do it sure as heck isn't going to be a night like tonight!
DH was an idiot last weekend and I'm still not over it, so I told him I wasn't getting him a card (I am really big on cards, lol) told him I wasn't faking the words, and I'd get him something when he got his shit together, lol. He did get me a really sweet card, some Hershey kisses, and ferrero rocher's he left on the table for me this morning I saw after he was gone, so that was sweet. I got him a big tub of gummy hearts, I'm not all cold hearted!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@cookie_dough: I have debated flipping it, haha. We have a Baby Trend Dbl Jogger we were given, so I would have to sell one of them. I know I will use one a lot, given how much I used our single, and for whatever reason am hung up on having a "bob". Stupid awesome thing, I am hooked.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Beebug: I have to wear full panel and big full panel - if not I'm uncomfortable. My SIL gave me some old navy full panel pants. They only cover like 3/4 of my belly and dig in. No good!
I need to get a double stroller but I'm at such a loss as to what to get. I want something that handles well and easy for me to fold up and go. There are hardly any for me to test out at the store. The ones there are bulky. It's such an expensive purchase, I want to be sure we like it.
No v day plans tonight-DH is on nights. We celebrated with dinner last weekend. Though I did get chocolate, candy and cards from DH and DS. My mom is spending the night with us tonight so my v day present is sleeping in tomorrow. Woo hoo!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mamasig: i've been debating for a really long time too about double strollers. I would love love love the city select, but DD doesn't really like being in a stroller anymore and there's no way I could justify that huge expense. I also don't think I want a side-by-side since I find that most of them are just so wide, and the smaller ones don't usually accomodate a car seat i don't think? So I think the cheap baby trend off craiglist is what we will go for. I'm assuming that the days I go for long walks will be the days DD is at daycare, and I can use the single bob with the little guy. The days where DD is home, we will go to the park down the street, or other things that don't require her to be in the stroller for a long time!

Happy Valentine's Day! We don't really do anything special usually, maybe just make a fancy dinner and have a few drinks at home. I have a yummy looking dessert I want to make but I'm going to attempt to take the glucose test again first thing tomorrow morning so I think we'll "celebrate" tomorrow instead.
@Mae: We ordered that exact same chair & ottoman last week! So glad you like yours - we ordered ours online and it hasn't come in yet. How is the color? We set up the registry just to get the 10% back in gift cards (I hope no one finds it and thinks we're greedy registering for a second baby!) and we got the ottoman for free with the special they are offering right now so it was a pretty good deal.
@Beebug: I hate maternity clothes. The full panel makes my belly so ridiculously itchy that I can't wear them and the short elastic band is either a little tight and uncomfortable or too loose and fall down. I loved being pregnant in the summer last time. I just wore dresses like 99% of the time.
@cookie_dough: We bought a used Britax B Ready (not included in the recent recall) to convert to a double. It's not a side by side but does accommodate a car seat. So far it's been fine but so much heavier than our cheapie Graco Lightrider!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: lol over not getting him a card. and yay gummy bears. I got my husband gummy bears too.
Also I haven't tried non-full panel pants but they seem awful. I have still been wearing some pre-preg pj pants/sweats and they are so unflattering. When they don't go up above the belly it just presses into the chub giving me that "b belly" look and makes me look like a huge tubbo. I imagine non-full panel jeans would be similarly unattractive on me.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: I am finding full panel is definitely best this time, whereas I didn't really like them last time, while the bump looks the same, I guess it's definitely different! Mind you, I also wasn't at work sitting most of the day this time last pregnancy too, I was already off up to EDD.
The double stroller is such an expensive purchase, if this one turns out to be as awesome as it is, $200 is a steal. I don't know of one that would suit or needs that wouldn't be bulky, so I got over that in a hurry. I know we'll go on gravel/uneven trails, I know we'll use it a ton, so I want it to hold up too, so I try to remind myself of that. I know some people complain of the single bob being bulky, but I didn't find it too bad, so assume I will adjust/not know any different with whatever double we roll with!
I am jealous of your sleeping in tomorrow @Mamasig: ! I would love that! Not that I ever sleep in regardless, but the option would be nice!!
We committed to painters last night! Our whole house except bedrooms will be done (LOL on it going from an entry way/hallway and maybe kitchen quote) and I am SO excited! We will do the kids rooms on our own this Spring, the only thing not done will be our bedroom and bathroom, and our mudroom. Going to be completed the week after March Break! The cost difference for them to do all of this (labour, paint, tax) versus us doing it (just cost to us in paint and materials) was $475 or so (huge part of that is their discounted price buying paint). Given the prep, the time, the perfection that will come with us doing it, it seemed like a no brainer! Half the cost was the space we initially wanted done/quoted, and I am shocked DH said to just do the whole thing, eeep!

@Mae: I'm such a jerk. I've done it before on one of our wedding anniv's too. I am all about cards and writing a nice long meaningful message, but not when I don't actually mean it, so he can wait, ha!

@skipra: I think the color is pretty spot-on… it's dark grey. Here's a pic of it when we first stuck it in the nursery, before we took the office furniture out of there.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@cookie_dough: how old is your daughter? DS is only 17 months and I don't think he'll be old enough to just walk with me. I think he's a runner! A coworker suggested the city mini baby jogger and said she loved it. She said she had no problems going through doors. DH thinks tandem is better. For now, we keep asking people with double strollers how they like it to get some more opinions. DH works a lot so it will just be me with the boys on most weekends when we are out and about. I'm not going to lie. Sometimes the thought scares me!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@skipra: @Mae: Does the ottoman rock? I have an old school wooden rocker, but I would love to find a footstool or ottoman that rocks for my feet. Aside from the stool's that "go" with typical glider's, I can't seem to find anything one-off that rocks for the feet!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mamasig: she's 19 months now, will be 22 months when baby gets here. I don't anticipate letting her walk in parking lots, etc, which is where the double stroller will come in. In that case we don't need a great stroller since it will just be from like the car to the libary, etc. I'm thinking that no matter what we are using the double stroller for, she will only be in it a short amount of time. It will make things like going to the mall tough, but I can do that on days when she's at daycare. She just HATES being in the stroller in the mall, stores, etc. So even if we had a great double stroller, I can see her demanding to be out of it. Makes things quite complicated! I'm reallllly hoping I can babywear a lot with this one, and use the single Bob for DD for going on walks.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@cookie_dough: I am thinking I will wear one lots, either #2 on front, DD in bob, or DD in back carry and #2 in bob! Only time where I'm screwed with this plan is weather. If it's too hot, too windy, rainy, cold, etc, I am definitely going to be out multiple times a day walking the dog and just getting out, so that's where I am thinking double will be essential for us! I am not a huge mall person, so won't be taking it there!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@cookie_dough: I'm hoping I can baby wear with this one too. DS hated it - I had a moby and baby bjorn. He hated being confined. This kid didn't like being swaddled either. They make it sound like every baby likes that! He's ok in a stroller as long as we are moving or he has snacks! I'm just thinking it will be nice to wear the baby so I can have my hands free. We'll see how that works out.
I also didn't have a big swing with DS but I'm thinking of getting one too. I figure it may entertain the new baby. Does anyone have any recommendations? It so hard to know what each kid will like!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: I want to get a wrap this time, did you like the Moby despite DS not liking it? We have the Beco Gemini carrier and looove it, use it a ton, but I'd like to try a wrap this time too!
We borrowed a swing for DD, and I found one for $20 on a local facebook Mom group for $20 that was the plug in version (opposed to batteries). It is just a graco one of some sort, nothing fancy, but safe and does the trick!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Beebug: honestly, no. It was such a pain to put on and wrap. I'm short too, so there is all of this extra material. I ended up returning it. I was thinking of maybe trying a k'tan this time. But DS was also so heavy that wearing him was super uncomfortable. I'll Have to look up your carrier and swing.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: The only thing I don't like about my carrier is when we back carry DD, she sits low and can't see over my shoulder/ahead. I am hoping to find a wrap that will work for #2 when little, but perhaps give me the option for a back carry and getting DD higher, too.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Mamasig: we have a ktan and I think we used it around the house about 3 times for 5-10 minutes. I bought a small but it was still too big until DS got bigger but by then it just seemed uncomfortable. We also have a plug in Graco swing and the seat comes off as a bouncy seat. DS never loved either option but it worked so I could shower or whatever. The option to plug in the swing was pretty nice.
@Mae: thanks for posting the photo! Just got an email that we can pick ours up. I was hoping to find a lighter gray but the deal was too good to pass up!
Baby was crazy last night and today I am sore and feel bruised right where he was kicking. Ouch
pear / 1586 posts
@Beebug: that seems to be a good deal! I love our single BOB as does R. She always asks to go in the "strollder." I think I want a city mini double but am not positive. A double BOB would be good too! So many options lol. And re: the no card. At least you're honest! And gummy bears is a sweet gesture in and of itself so no need to worry about seeming cold hearted
@cookie_dough: @Mamasig: I have an ergo and R likes it. I have to be honest though...I've always worn her facing me! I couldn't figure out the back carry when I tried. But that could've been because I was alone. Maybe a wrap would work better?
papaya / 10343 posts
@skipra: yay for picking it up! I actually wanted a darker grey, so I was happy. My kid was also kicking me a lot overnight. And she's in a weird position right now I'm not loving. I wish she would just flip head down and stay put already haha.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
The back carry was so hard to get the hang of, honestly it made it so much easier when DD learned what was going on and "helped", not by doing anything specific, just the expected movement and the process! I found it so much more comfortable. She preferred to forward face on the front, and there's so much good/bad on that out there, I felt guilty when I did it, so when she got big enough to the back carry I used that whenever possible as she liked it, and I didn't feel as bad!!
Here's a selfie from last summer! It was brutal when she figured out how to rip off her sun hat!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@cheesetomywhine: I also loved my ergo but couldn't do the back carry unless someone was there to help me. Did you use the infant insert and at what time of year? I'm thinking it might be too warm to use it for this LO.
@Mae: Well at the u/s the baby was head down and low. I guess it could still change but my midwife says usually once they are in that position it sticks. DS was in a very similar position but opposite side. His back was on my left side and he kicked my right ribs. This baby is on my right side and my left ribs feel bruised.
