@Mae: @gingerblonde: I live at DQ. It's pretty bad.
@Keds: That's the thing, it's everything that's delicious is off limits. I just can't do it lol

@junebugmama: @gingerblonde: gahhh you people are killing me. Want a twist cone so bad. Although its blizzarding outside right now so I guess that helps. If it was August I'd have no chance of making it through these last few weeks without soft serve
nectarine / 2019 posts
@Mae: I actually drove in a snow storm to get a pb cup blizzard. My husband was mad at me lol. It's 28 degrees here and is supposed to snow tonight, and because we have now discussed it, hubs will be making a run, when the kids go to bed. I won't be able to stop thinking about it lol
papaya / 10343 posts
@gingerblonde: Because the machines are dirty they say. They harbor the same listeria bacteria that is on lunch meat, and the temperature isn't cold enough to kill it. No soft serve, no frozen yogurt (of the soft serve variety) Maybe if it isn't snowing this weekend I'll make the hubby take me out for some real (hand dip) ice cream and get sprinkles on that!

@junebugmama: lol love it. I have yet to make DH go out on a run for anything. I don't feel like I've had any cravings that bad..? (but i've only got 5.5 weeks left so maybe I ought to make him, just so we could fully experience this pregnancy thing haha)
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Mae: OMG, you don't eat that either! All my doc said was no raw meat or fish and watch out for non pasteurized stuff and soft cheeses. She said not to worry about listeria!
Before the GD, I ate tons of sweets including soft serve. Yum!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Mamasig: I mean to be fair, I'm still getting my sweets in. I had a donut earlier today, plus a banana, a clementine, and a mandarine. And I made banana bread chocolate chip muffins yesterday that I'm planning to have for dessert tonight… lol.
honeydew / 7230 posts
Y'all are making me hungry for a banana split blizzard! I wonder if my husband will go get me one. I've been sticking to "sugar free" fudgsicles (how they make them sugar free I have no idea) but DQ sounds sooo good right now.
I've done a good job with my weight gain so far (23 lbs at 32 weeks with twins) but I swear I gained five pounds since I was officially put on bed rest yesterday, haha. The next couple weeks should get interesting.
Today I cheated on my bed rest for a couple hours so I could go into work. I got my computer setup for VPN access at home so I can get some things done for the next week until my big project deadline. Then I'm basically done. I finally told my boss (out of necessity) that I won't be back afterward either. She took it well and was very supportive. It's such a weight off my shoulders that everyone knows now and my FMLA stuff is in order for bed rest, etc.
I'm starting to panic about actually having these babies now, though. I'm 32 w 5 d now and if I go into labor after 34 they won't stop it. Um, what? These babies could be here that soon?? My husband is like super zen about it too, says he feels like we're as close to ready as we can get. Which is easy for him to say... He doesn't have to push them out a teeny tiny opening! But I love that he is excited and ready to meet them, but hopefully not for another 3-5 weeks!

My list of hospital requests is getting longer and longer... DQ blizzard, sushi and a turkey sandwich to start!
I didn't really get any actual cravings with either pregnancy, but I did make my husband go out one night at like 8:00 and pick up an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. It just sounded so good and once I got it in my head I had to have it. Pre-GD of course. Although now I would pretty much kill someone for a piece of ice cream cake.

@twodoghouse: So glad that you're getting things wrapped up at work and will be done soon! Also totally agree with you that it is crazy how soon the babies could be here! I had my 34 week appointment today and both the nurse and midwife walked into the room and the first thing they each said to me was "so, are you ready for baby to be born?" I'm like ummmmmm I'm 34 weeks so I'm planning on cooking her at least 3 more…? lol. But I did see on my 34 week email from What to Expect that they said almost all babies born at or after 34 weeks do just as well as babies born at 40 weeks. So I guess that is why they will let you go if you need to? Regardless of when they come I'm sure you'll figure it out and you guys will do great!
I was just thinking today that we're rapidly approaching the time when some of our May moms may actually start having their babies… I wonder who will be the first?!

Hi ladies! I've read through the last couple pages but it's a pain to reply individually. I am soooo craving some red wine. I would have some but DH is a beer drinker so I'm not going to get a bottle for a couple sips. We did decide that we'd get one for when I go into laborious because I remember our birthing class instructor recommended it last time. That's really my only naughty craving luckily except I have a really hard time staying away from cookie dough if I'm making them. I may have had a couple tastes oops.
Had my 34 week appointment today with the doctor that runs the practice. He likes to meet all patients even with midwife group and was really nice. I am measuring slightly ahead but because of DS's slow growth he thinks it might be too risky to let me go past my due date. This is unexpected because one of the midwives said they induce at 42 weeks or 41 if it was my request based on risks. I'd like to avoid another induction because last time I was at the hospital 2 full days before they even started the pitocin. It was awful and I would hate to be away from DS for so long. I was in the hospital for almost 5 full days!
Re: c-sections. I didn't have one but I thought those sharp pains even in he shoulder were gas? I was told when they open you up air gets into your body and that's what causes it. Is that true? I am terrified of a c-sect especially after laboring for hours.

Mannnn... catching up has made me hungry! I've broken every single dietary rule I can think of this pregnancy. But with a clear conscience because my doctor never restricted anything. He just said to do everything in moderation and use common sense so... I started off avoiding all the "risky" stuff but it was making me miserable! I've had sushi (tempura, so somewhat cooked), lots of deli meat (DH is a fan so we're always stocked), soft serve, wine and coffee whenever I've been extremely sleepy. I know I will kick myself if something is wrong with DS...

Hey May mamas! Turns out our little Rowan decided he wanted to be a March babe. He was born yesterday morning at 1:18 am via emergency c section. I had a very scary placental abruption. He was born weighing 4lbs 11oz. Not too bad for a preemie! He's currently in the NICU and I'm still recovering from the trauma. We our totally smitten! I'll try to post a pic(as soon as I figure it out!)

@the_bees_knees: congrats! He looks adorable! I'm interested in hearing your birth story. Do you plan to share?
I must admit I freaked a little when I opened our thread and saw a picture of a newborn! It has begun, ladies.

@the_bees_knees: Oh my goodness, congratulations!!!! I can't believe that the first "May" baby is here already! He is gorgeous. I hope that he doesn't have a long stay in the NICU and that you are home soon!

@the_bees_knees: omg congrats!!! He is gorgeous!
@Apex: I guess we did! Also, how you doing mama?! Haven't seen you around in a bit!

I am totally craving milkshakes and soft serve ice cream based on yesterday's discussion! That's one thing that I've tried to stay away from, because DH used to work and mcdonald's and has cautioned me about the "cleanliness" of the machines...I did cheat a few times last pregnancy though and had DQ...I was due in July, there was no way I was not having any blizzards in June/July!

@the_bees_knees: Holy moly a baby!!!!! Congrats, but I do hope your NICU time isn't long and baby Rowan grows like a champ! What a great size already though, and hair!!!!
@Mae: wow on getting your "who will be the first" answer that quickly! Ummm how bout we don't ask again until mid-April?
@Apex: Hi Momma! Hope you are doing well!!
I slept so well last night I woke up with drool down the side of my face. Glorious!! I needed it! I am still sick, and infact I think getting worse again, but woo on sleep!

@Mamasig: Your experience gives me so much hope as well. Thank you so much for sharing. I know a lot of people out there always boo C-Sections and I have to admit I used to be one of them, but mostly because I was afraid of the surgery part, but now that I know that can be a possibility for me, I am getting more comfortable with the idea and with the fact that is okay to have a C-Section and that no matter what, what matters is that maybe is healthy and I am strong enough to care for him, which by your experience sounds like I will be
Thank you again, lady
@the_bees_knees: Oh my goodness! Your baby is so precious Congratulations!

@skipra: I never had any sharp shoulder pains after my c section. Guess it depends on the person. Honestly, the worse pain I felt was my uterus contracting when I pumped. That was way worse than any c section pain.
@the_bees_knees: congrats! Our 1st baby!
We are getting close, ladies!

@iluvpink: Know what else? The baby comes out perfect looking! A nice round head! LOL - that's what people notice. I'm glad I could help. All that matters is healthy baby and healthy mama. It really does not matter how the baby gets here!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mamasig: haha, so funny you mention that about the round head! We did get a lot of comments after DD was born on her perfectly round head!!!

@Glitter: nothing will be wrong with the baby! I agree with moderation! Our moms never were restricted like we are now, and we turned out fine.

@junebugmama: My DH actually offers to do that for me all the time, putting the cold cut in the microwave, but I always refuse it just cause I don't think it tastes the same. Its supposed to be COLD cut haha ..... how does it taste for you?
@Mamasig: Its funny you mention that, I had to tell my boss of my "plans" before and after maternity leave and I told him about a possible C-Section and he said the same thing, he said "oh your baby will come out with the perfect head shape" LOL .... I never thought of that!

@the_bees_knees: Congratulations!! I hope you all get to go home soon. Baby Rowan is adorable
I can't believe we are so close. I have my 34 week appt today and I'm really starting to get that "oh crap" feeling like this could actually happen really really soon.
I have had more than enough milkshakes to satisfy probably all of us! only did deli meat once though because I was having such a craving for it but DH is going to bring me a nice italian combo in the hospital and I can't wait!
@Mae: Thomas has been removed from top name... I don't think my son is going to have a name lol. DH really wants a Jr. but my due date is 5/5 and his bday is 5/3 and I can't commit to Jr. if there is a chance they have the same bday. That is just too much. So we are back to the drawing board.

@Mae: lol can I be needy while still editable and take names out of mine too? We are clueless on both sides, lol.....
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: yep! I have 2 hrs to edit and no motivation to work this morning, so anyone who wants changes, throw 'em at me
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: haha on no motivation. I am right there with you this morning. Literally sitting here like, what can take time, but not much of my brain. Something organizational is about to happen, haha.

@the_bees_knees: Oh my gosh, congratulations! Rowan is beautiful and that is a great weight! I hope you're doing well and his NICU stay is short!

@Beebug: ughhh i know. and i actually have shit to do. I have a lot of things i really want to get done in the next 3 weeks so i feel ready for maternity leave (in case i go early). and just… no motivation.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@the_bees_knees: Congrats!!! Hope you have a speedy recovery and quick NICU stay for baby Rowan. He is so beautiful!
@Mae: Wow I can't believe you're already updating the calendar with births! If you feel like editing (totally no big deal though) we are a bit undecided about the name right now. I think we'll just wait until he's born at this point.
OK, I'm officially freaking out now that we have our first baby. We have so much stuff to do around the house before this baby arrives. Luckily our contractor finally started work and it should be done next week but still that only leaves us 5 weeks max and DH is stuck working a bunch of overtime. Yikes. I don't know how any of you can concentrate at work these last few weeks! I remember with DS that as I finished things up I had nothing to do and it was almost worse just sitting around waiting for baby...
papaya / 10343 posts
@skipra: done Also, I KNOW. She could be here soooo soon! I'm feeling good that we have our nursery done (enough). Honestly the only big roadblock to being ready for me is getting the car seat installed (which we could do any time now I guess!) and me getting stuff ready at work. Which should kick my butt into gear. And yet…….. lol. How come my nesting doesn't apply to getting my work stuff ready?
nectarine / 2019 posts
@the_bees_knees: OMG! He so beautiful! I can't believe we have a first little baby. He's a great size for being early. I'm also glad to hear that you're doing well. Placental abrupt ions are very scary!
@iluvpink: I melt swiss on turkey and use cranberry sauce as my spread, so it tastes like thanksgiving lol
