@cookie_dough: My DH is the same way. There are maybe two or three meals that my mom makes that he loves, but that's it! It's so annoying! I eat everything. I am piggy, but DH is so picky. That's so funny that your DD will eat anything your mom makes, that's a plus for you! I used to be like that. I used to eat anything my nana made, but so picky with my mom haha .... daughters!

@iluvpink: haha seriously! I get reports from daycare (and from my mom on thursdays when she watches her) about how well she ate at lunch and snacks...and yet at home it's a HUGE struggle to get her to eat anything other than cookies. I feel like I use sooo much of my brain power trying to figure out how to get her to eat at home! Last night I really did give up for the day and we just had toast with peanut butter for dinner.

@cookie_dough: awe poor you! You are fantastic mother for keep on trying! I have a friend that just gave up and has been giving her LO pizza and milk for breakfast, lunch and dinner since her LO was 2 and now her LO is 5 and no change on diet.....good for you, for still battling! Again, you are great mama

@iluvpink: hahaha thanks! Funny you should say that, because I ALMOST gave DD pizza for dinner last night. I figured the peanut butter option was a titch healthier.
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: pb on toast is a totally legit option I have it for breakfast every morning hah! Also my husband is in school 2-3 nights/week so I'm home alone for dinner. It's embarrassing to admit how often I have either toast, toast and eggs, or oatmeal for dinner. #Lazy. I'm also a super picky eater. I hope our LO doesn't take after me haha.

Quiet weekend on the May board! I'm guessing that we are all busy nesting/panicking about getting everything ready! We finally moved DD into her big girl room last night, and it was a super smooth transition (although we were moving her from one crib to another, identical, crib...so no too shocking that it went ok. Allow me to bombard you with pictures of her big girl room!

@cookie_dough: I love your nursery!
Is anyone else having horrible heartburn in the middle of the night? As if being uncomfortable wasn't already enough to deal with as far as sleep is concerned, I started having sever heartburn (regardless of what I am eating) at about 3 every morning. I have to sit up it's so bad, otherwise I feel like I'm going to puke

@cookie_dough: love the big girl room. My DS had a great transition to his new room too. He's still in a crib as well.

@cookie_dough: lol I didn't see that it was a big girl room…guess I should read a little better, whoops! sorry!

@junebugmama: @sungirl: thanks! The only thing I didn't really think about was diaper changes, since DD isn't potty trained yet. I didn't set up any kind of diaper-changing station in her room...whoops! So I have the diapers in a drawer in her dresser, the wipes on her dresser, and a mat under the bed that I pull out to change her on. But of course the diaper genie is still in the nursery...oh well...hopefully only a little bit longer until she is potty trained!

@cookie_dough: so pretty!!
@junebugmama: no heartburn for me but swelling in my hands and feet has begun! So sorry you're having difficulty sleeping. That's not cool.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@cookie_dough: pretty! Girl stuff is so cute!
@junebugmama: Heartburn isn't too bad this go around, but I take Pepcid when I need it.
Sleep is getting harder. I'm either up for the bathroom or wake up every time I need to roll over. Lovely crotch pain is back.
I had an ultrasound today to check on baby boy. He looks great and is 4 lbs 14 oz so far at 32 weeks (tomorrow). If he grows at the average pace of 1/2 pound per week, he'll be around 8 1/2 pounds on the big day. We'll see!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Glitter: yay! Post pics when you have them!!
@cookie_dough: gorgeous!! I love it!
@junebugmama: Ugh, that sounds unpleasant. I haven't had many heartburn issues luckily and I'm still sleeping pretty well. The primary mid-night issue is I've been waking up boiling every night around 2-3am, no matter how cold our room seems when I go to bed (and I don't sleep in much, so that's not an issue). So I turn the fan on every night. My poor husband has taken to sleeping in a hoodie bc he says our room is freezing but I"m like a furnace at night! Also when I wake up to pee for the second time every morning around 4 am I am STARVING. I haven't actually given in and gotten food yet, but if this continues I might need to start keeping snacks by the bed lol.
So how was everyone's weekend? Mine was so fabulous. We did nothing. lol. DH and I are like, super homebody people and we've really been coming to the realization that life is about to change big time. Not that we'll be home less bc obviously with a baby we'll be home a lot... but just that our super lazy hanging out is going to sort of cease to exist, at least in its current state. And the last few months we've been busy with either visits or showers or projects basically every weekend. And we actually had no important stuff to do this weekend. So we decided to spend the whole weekend doing nothing productive and just reveling in the lazy. We stayed in bed until 11, didn't cook once, went to see the Veronica Mars movie, played a ton of video games (harry potter lego what up....... lol), finished House of Cards. I feel like it might have been our last totally and completely lazy and self indulgent weekend for a very very very long time and it was everything I hoped it could be haha.
nectarine / 2019 posts
@Mamasig: I took pepcid and it didn't work I am also having the can't roll over crotch pain lol
papaya / 10343 posts
@Mamasig: @junebugmama: Agree on the can't roll over thing. Not so much crotch pain as my back seizes a bit after laying on one side for a while and between trying to roll my ass over + trying to situate my body pillow on the other side, it is a production. Luckily I seem to sleep pretty well except for waking up to pee. So I generally start on one side, wake up to pee at 2 and then get myself situation on the other side. Wake up to pee at 4-5 and roll myself back over. haha

@cookie_dough: Aw, I love your big girl room! Was your DD so excited about moving in?
@junebugmama: I was having really bad heartburn and taking 10 million tums per day, so my doctor finally suggested I take Prevacid. It's made things so much better for me. I didn't take it when I was in the hospital and I was righT back to the most awful heartburn. Now I never skip a day of the Prevacid! (I know not everyone is comfortable taking meds like that during pregnancy, but if you are I would def recommend talking to your dr/mw about it!)
@Mamasig: Yay for an ultrasound and a big healthy little boy!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Mae: I switch sides on bathroom breaks too. I (knock on wood) am sleeping pretty well as long as we keep our room cold and I have my pregnancy pillow. I hope I will be able to leave that thing behind someday, but for now I can't imagine trying to sleep without it!
papaya / 10343 posts
@twodoghouse: Sigh... dreams of ever sleeping with just 1 pillow again...... I was counting down to birth bc I thought I'd be able to roll back onto my stomach immediately, until my friend told me that you can't sleep on your stomach while breastfeeding either bc your boobs leak too much. LAME.
kiwi / 619 posts
@twodoghouse: We talked a lot about her moving into her big girl room, but I'm not sure she knew what we were talking about, because we would always keep the door closed (if we left it open, she wanted to go in there, and there were still tools and stuff lying around). So finally last night we told asked her if she wanted to sleep in her big girl room, and she seemed kind of excited, but she was really tired so I'm not sure she knew what was going on. One thing I hadn't thought of is that at 21 months, she STILL wants her mobile on to go to sleep, and of course I had left the mobile in the nursery. So i quickly took it apart and just brought the music part in for her to listen to. She was out like a light! However, getting her ready for daycare this morning took a LONG time because she wanted to stay and play in her new room.
@Mae: I literally just sent an email to DH 5 minutes ago asking if he's been boiling at night of if it's just me! I've been SO HOT.
@Mamasig: yay for a good ultrasound! that sounds like a great weight
cherry / 184 posts
@cookie_dough: That room is stunning!!! What great colors, and I particularly love the circular artwork above the crib.
My lack of personal vision and aesthetic is on full display now that I'm trying to put together a cute-ish nursery. Yay for Pottery Barn and gift cards.
@Mae: I have completely overtaken our bed with pillows. The snoogle just wasn't working for me, so now I have two supporting my swollen feet, one between the legs, and a wedge underneath the bump, in addition to my regular head pillow. My poor husband.
@Mamasig: Great ultrasound news!

@cookie_dough: Oye about the eating and DD. C will give us grief sometimes, but overall is usually such a good eater. She is definitely figuring out challenging us lately and having a tantrum at dinner and refusing to eat. We have been enduring the screaming and crying, (try to) stay calm as best we can and wait her out and we usually win, lol. So annoying though, she is definitely going to give us a run for our money challenging us.
@Glitter: Yay on crib arrival and assembly!!
I am in such a standstill in the nursery right now, not inspired to finish it at all.
@cookie_dough: Eeee, love her big girl room!! Too cute. We also didn't do change spot in C's room, one change pad on counter in bathroom for both kiddo's now. It works for us! DD has been telling us when she pee's (like as she pee's) lately, so I am thinking potty training *is* coming, but I am in no rush as of yet, let me get through May and June kid, haha!
@junebugmama: No heartburn lately, but night sweats are going to be the end of me. I am not even sure I slept last night with how much I was sweating, tossing and turning.
@Mamasig: So awesome about the u/s and size!!! Crazy these babies in there are that size (ish!) and are going to be on the outside before we know it!
A lot of Mom's on a Canadian May 2014 board I am on have had preemie's, weeks ago it was scary preemie, and not to say right now isn't, but we're getting to a point where for the most part they can be born healthy, in good weight, etc, and seeing the pics of them (like @the_bees_knees:) looking normal and healthy is just insane to me. How are you doing @the_bees_knees ? Hope your little man is doing well
@Mae: I usually have a bowl of cereal if I wake up hungry at like 3-4am.....so annoying, I hate waking up hungry and try to ignore it, but it never works. Glad you had a good weekend, it sounds like it was fabulous. Had an okay one over here. DH and I had a solid blowout, but hopefully will lead to positive things. DD had swimming Saturday am, and watching how excited she is there is SO fun. Other than that we didn't do a whole lot, I had a work thing last night for a couple hours, I had a long weekend too as I took Friday off and went to a dog show with Fin. He was awesome, and we had a ton of fun.
I was paying attention to my bare belly when I got out of the shower last night, no linea negra this time...yet? I don't know when it came last time. No stretch marks yet (they came after I had DD last time), but I definitely have an outie now!! 34w today......and done work next Friday! Crazy.
I said above, I am definitely struggling for motivation on nursery right now, but I have lots of time, so hopefully it'll come.
A gf of mine messaged yesterday, asking for her mat clothes back. I am THRILLED for her (due in Oct) but worst timing (selfishly) for me, haha.....my mat clothes are about half her stuff, half mine, but like....some of her stuff are definitely staples of mine, so I was definitely bummed packing them up yesterday, haha. Tried to remember they got me all through #1, she and I were hoping to be closer preggo this time, so I am lucky I had them at all. She will get a boat load of my work clothes in two weeks too!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: ya, change pad in the bathroom is a good idea! I think our bathroom counter is just a bit too small, or I would totally do that. Now that you mention it, I don't think I have a linea negra yet either! and no stretch marks. I got super lucky last time and didn't really get any (well ok, I got a few on my thighs actually haha but nothing on my belly). We'll see if I'm as lucky this time. I'm not sure if it affects things, but I had an appendectomy several years ago, and one of the incisions was in my belly button. Because of the scar, I don't think that I will ever have an outtie. I could be proven wrong on that though!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@cookie_dough: Our bathroom counter in this house is stupid big. We took out a closest from adjacent bedroom that popped into this bathroom's space, and put it so it pops into our ensuite (too big) instead of this bathroom. What resulted was a change pad width (and then some) of counter space on either side of the single sink. So change pad on counter, works with CD as poops go right into toilet and bin we store dipes in is in a little nook under counter. It's different, but works for us for now, we had to get a lamp for the bathroom counter though, as lights over mirror way too bright first thing in the am for DD, and whatever hours we will be in there with a newborn soon!! I've never had a lamp in a bathroom, so it's different, but makes it so cozy feeling, lol.

@cookie_dough: Love her room! I also love her name which I don't think I have mentioned before Glad she seemed to transition well.
@junebugmama: I'm sorry to hear you're having horrible heartburn. I only get a very mild (*knock on wood*) case every so often and it seems if I elevate my head that it goes away. Normally I don't sleep on my pillow so this may not work if you are already elevated.
@Mamasig: Yay for getting to see your healthy baby! I get to see mine next Monday since the mw couldn't determine his/her position. I really hope the tech doesn't slip up and tell me what I'm having! I am also somewhat worried that I am going to be told I am having a beast lol. A friend who is 33 weeksjust had an ultrasound and her little girl is measuring 6.5 lbs already.
@Mae: Sounds like a great weekend!
@Beebug: Oy we haven't started on the nursery yet as we need to make FIL's room ours first. And of course his new room isn't ready yet. Apparently DH is waiting until the last minute. We are also hoping to move R into a big girl bed, though keep her in her current room, before the baby is born. I don't want her thinking the baby is stealing her bed!
Sleep has been fine for me thankfully. I am so happy that I am still not waking to pee at night. I will cherish this as I know it is only a matter of time
I still want to eat junk all the time. It is rather ridiculous actually. I bought a bag of mini cadbury eggs on Friday and as of last night I have 1/8-1/4 left. I am trying not to finish them today but I don't know if I will have the self control so I need to not buy junk anymore.
R still says the baby is a boy so I have decided she must be right. So excited to find out in a few short weeks!
papaya / 10343 posts
@cheesetomywhine: definitely remind the tech to stay mum! Also, I may or may not have 4 different kinds of ice cream in my freezer right now (I totally do).
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@cookie_dough: Love that room! The colors are great. We are also having the same problem with DS's big boy room missing a diaper changing station. We had a built in table in his old closet that we changed his diaper on and now we have nothing so we change him on our bed.
@junebugmama: I think my recent throwing up in the middle of the night was actually heartburn related. I don't know if the baby has moved so it's not so bad or if it's that I've stopped eating for the night by like 6pm and take a Tums right after I eat dinner. It's been so much better the past few days.
@Mamasig: Yay for a great ultrasound!
@Mae: Take advantage of the remaining quiet weekends! We were busy all weekend with home improvement projects now that the contractors have finished. We have SO much to do before the baby and not much time because 2 weekends are going to be busy with my birthday and then Easter. Now we are just trying to prioritize what needs to get done before baby and what is ok to wait.
So now that we're getting close does anyone have guesses for when the baby will arrive? Now that the doctor has said he doesn't want me going too far beyond my due date I'm hoping for an induction on May 9th if baby boy doesn't arrive on his own before then. DH and I were talking last night that I wouldn't mind another induction as long as I don't have to deal with the cervical ripening again. It would be so much easier - we wouldn't have to worry about driving to the hospital in rush hour traffic or making sure my mom can make it to us in time to watch DS, etc. Also it would be great if they could schedule it for a Friday so we'd have an extra weekend for DH to be home.
kiwi / 619 posts
@cheesetomywhine: I'm trying SO hard to stay away from junk food, but it's so so difficult. My friend just brought me a belated birthday gift yesterday of four donuts from a special donut shop...not helping me stay on track whatsoever! And I may have been so hungry on saturday that I had a few spoonfuls of nutella...right out of the jar...i couldn't stop myself! As for them slipping up on the U/S...i THINK that our babies are so big and scrunched in there that it would be tough at this point for them to even see anything in that area! But I would definitely warn them anyways
papaya / 10343 posts
@skipra: That's the plan! We only have 4 weekends left before LO's due date and 2 of them are already booked. Trying to soak up the lazy while we can get it.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@cheesetomywhine: Just be sure to tell them! Mine knew I knew. She mentioned he's still a boy at some point. I couldn't see anything, though. Last time it was clear as day! I guess there was so much more room before.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
Ladies, enjoy the sweets and bad food! Don't feel guilty. I wish I could have it! On this diet, I'm down a pound. The doctor mentioned I may not even gain any more. That would put May weight gain at around 20 pounds - 1/2 of what it wa with DS. I guess that's good, but I sure wish I could have some sweets!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@cheesetomywhine: Make sure you tell the tech! We had so many u/s with DS and didn't think to tell them at the end because we'd already been so many times that we thought they knew (same doctor and everything). About a week before my induction she kept saying "he" and then measured the amniotic fluid right around his boy parts so we got a good view of the goods. We were excited but it was such a disappointment to wait so long just to find out at the last minute. It's the only reason we found out this time.
ETA - I just ate a big piece of chocolate. I can't stay away from the junk food either!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@skipra: I have bet May 20th as our baby's arrival date!
EDD is May 12th, I was one week late with DD, and that equals to May 19th, but she was born on the 20th of her month, so for fun I picked the 20th of the month for this one.......it seems so much further away than May 12th! Then I think about the EDD the doctor's use, May 8th, and that moves things ahead a little.....but I am going to stick with May 20th, and generally being overdue at the very least.
pear / 1586 posts
@Mae: I sure will. Four different flavors of ice cream? I'd be in heaven eating them!
@cookie_dough: Oh man, those sound delightful. And nutella is the best! I eat peanut butter out of the jar all the time
@Mamasig: Aww, that is a great weight gain. I have surpassed yours greatly though I am not stressed out about it.
@skipra: Aw that is a bummer! I will definitely be reminding the tech and will hope they don't slip up. Mmm chocolate.
@Beebug: Haha I always guess late too. My mum is hoping for tomorrow (her birthday) but if not she says Easter. DH and a friend are hoping for 5/4- May the Fourth be with you. I am voting for around May 16 lol. Yay hiccups!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
Has anyone gotten their hospital bag packed yet? Give me a month maybe, haha....but I was thinking about that a lot today! I remember packing it, then unpacking and re-packing it twice because I kept forgetting what I had packed. Worst case we live 5 minutes from the hospital and my Mom would be all over running back/forth if DH couldn't, but it's so fun to think about packing it again!! I didn't eat any of the snacks or popsicles and freezies I packed!
kiwi / 619 posts
@skipra: I have a feeling that baby will be here early for me. I have a wedding to go to on May 18 (my due date!!!) and I really want to go...but I have a feeling that that will not be happening
@Beebug: I have a bag sitting on my dresser and so far I've thrown in a couple of nightgowns (I only wore them after my last c-section while in the hospital and haven't worn them since!) and a couple of pairs of jogging pants, both of which I was realizing today will not be comfortable if I have a c-section again. I'm really not sure what to bring. I don't even remember what I wore last time other than one of the nightgowns! I think maybe gym shorts and tank tops.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: My LO has been hiccuping a lot lately too, I love it Also it is really weird to think about her actual possible birthday coming up!! I had a friend just email me that he's going to be coming through town the weekend of May 16 and wanted to know if he could stop by to say hi and bring us dinner and meet the baby. And I'm like omg I hope so but that is 2 weeks from my due date so it is actually possible I'll be at the hospital getting induced at that point if I haven't gone naturally yet haha. If I had my druthers I'd pick May 1. Three days early so I am not dealing with the mind-f of going late, and it is one of my very BFFs birthdays. Also, no hospital bag for me yet. I think making a list will be on my to-do list this week, and maybe pack my bag next weekend.
@cheesetomywhine: yes! we went a little crazy in the last week. I already had one in there and then i saw this tiramisu gelatto at the grocery store so i had to get that too. But my husband didn't like it. So saturday after dinner he said we should go get ice cream at this awesome local place and pints were only $1 more than a single scoop so we decided to get pints of 2 different flavors to share. Because why not lol. So now there are 4 in there.

@Mae: I'm dreaming of the day when I can sleep on my back again : )
@cookie_dough: Ha! DH asked me last night if I had turned on the heated mattress pad. I was like, "Uh, no dude, that's just me."
@Beebug: I *think* I'm starting to get a linea negra, but just under my belly button so far. Also, I've started packing the hospital bag. But just a few things so far, like I got little travel sizes of some of my toiletries or put extras I had in there. I should make up a list of things we'll need to grab at the last minute.
Ladies, I started losing my mucus plug last night (34 weeks 3 days). Freaked me out a little. I have so much stuff to get done before she comes! I know it can still be weeks away, and I really hope it is. I think I just overdid it yesterday when I went for a walk. I called the Dr's office this morning just in case that was something she wanted to know, and they said a nurse might call me back, but since I haven't been having contractions, I figure they probably don't care too much.
@skipra: I would like to say that she will arrive no sooner than May 3. She's due May 9, and my first, so by all accounts she should wait until after the 9th, but we will see!
honeydew / 7230 posts
I'm due 5/14 but I am going to vote for Easter weekend, which would be just after 36 weeks for me. I'll only take my procardia to keep the contractions at bay until 36 weeks and my dr says 36 weeks is fantastic for twins so I'd be fine with it. I don't have my hospital bag packed, but I have a list of things to take. My DH did a great job finding everything and bringing it when I was in the hospital, so that's my back up plan if we don't have time to pack again.
I did a huge order at Babies R Us and Target last night for a bunch of the leftover things on our registry, so we should be "ready" soon. At least with all the stuff we need. I Also ordered nursing bras and tanks to get us started. My husband installed the car seat based last night since I never drive my car anymore. Everything feels so real all of a sudden!
@HayleyJane: I'm pretty sure I've been losing my mucus plug too. It didn't dawn on me to call my dr though. Oops. I'll probably just let her know at my appointment on Friday.
