@HazelEyes: ugh Charlie horse! I had
one last week early in the morning and my husband helped me rub it out. I still felt it all day when I walked.

It's almost 4 am and I can't sleep. Hungry, coughing and uncomfortable sleeping on my side. 😣 Good thing my nursing rocking chair in the bedroom is comfortable.

Man, do I feel you guys on the leg cramp thing! I got a couple bad ones a couple months ago that left me sore for days! Now it feels like every time I stretch at night with pointed toes I almost always get one, so I quickly get my toes pointed up and save myself from the agony! Also, restless leg has been an awesome thing for me lately too.

Are you guys doing maternity photos? I have a photographer friend who gave me a session for my shower, and I almost want to just save it for newborn photos. The more I look at maternity photos, the less I want to do them. I feel like the majority are corny, and the ones that aren't I will never live up to! I don't like taking pictures of myself without the extra 35 pounds (yes, 35 ), muchless with it! I feel like I really won't regret not having professional pics of my pregnant self, I will have pics from my showers that will have my bump in them, won't that suffice?

    Thoughts?

@ohemgee: Insomnia has really been an issue for me as well, and that is without being sick! I can't even imagine! I have a routine down at night (that barely helps) of getting my humidifier going with some essential oils, turning on my Himalayan salt lamp, slathering coconut oil on myself, and then passing out. Then I will wake up 1-4 times to pee (to the light of a night light), and hope that I can fall back asleep.

Usually when I get up to go and then come back to bed is when my head starts going to weird places. I'll then try to grab my kindle and see if I can divert my brain. And not only does my husband's snoring wake me up, but mine does as well.

It is also awesome how I have to pretty much wake up fully to turn over.

Whatevs, it is just getting me ready for the lack of sleep when my pumpkin comes!

The insomnia is awful...DD sometimes squawks when she's moving through sleep cycles which wakes me up...then I need to pee several times a night, then DH snores or I feel a leg cramp coming on and then I'm just awake. I just keep my headphones on my nightstand and listen to audiobooks if I can't get back to sleep

Joined the random charlie horse club this am. I've actually never had one until today, but after reading these comments I was like "OMG this is what that is!" Chugging water now (what else is new!)

I am also sort of freaking out that this baby is going to come really early. I'm 31+4 and started getting lower back aches, pelvic pressure, and period-like cramps. Last night I only felt okay when lying down and went to pee literally every 10 min. I was freaking out that baby has already dropped and that s/he's coming soon... but everything seems back to normal this morning. SIGH. Who knew I'd be consumed with paranoia during the home stretch!

How is everyone else doing and feeling? So sorry to hear about the insomnia. I had it last night just because I was paranoid about the cramping. @rockinghorse: Ha, the waking yourself up completely to turn in bed is the worst! I'm afraid I wake DH up too... rearranging the maternity pillow and scooting myself into a comfortable position is a dramatic operation.

Add me to the up at 4am with Charlie Horse cramps :$ First time it happened last week, I woke up screaming "Take it off! Take the chipmunk off! ( because to a crazy pregnant lady the most rational explanation for a leg cramp at 4am means there is a rapid chipmunk on your bed chewing on your leg )

Baby was head down at my 28 week appointment and I have been with a constant "was just kicked in the crotch" sensation.

@rockinghorse: We will be taking maternity photos early April. We are planning on just booking a slot on a photographers spring mini-session ($100 for 30 min/10 pictures). I'm excited about taking maternity pictures because i've never felt more beautiful as I do now that I'm pregnant and really want to commemorate this special time in our lives.

@YogiRunner: I suddenly have started to feel really uncomfortable too. Hoping all our kiddos stay put and keep baking for a couple months!

@ModernDayJibarita: Haha to the chipmunk comment!!

My baby was laying sideways with his feet near one hip and his head jammed near the other hip for the last few weeks and giving me terrible right hip pain and sciatic pain. I think in the last few days he must have turned because I'm feeling kicks up near my ribs and my hip pain vanished. I'm hoping he stays this way!

@rockinghorse: No mat photos this time around. We did them with DD and loved them when they were first done but haven't looked at them much since then. Plus, same as you, I can barely look at myself in the mirror these days, let alone have a photoshoot of my enlarged pregnant self. Will definitely do a newborn shoot though! Must preserve that freshness

@tinyperson: I usually do a quick scroll of HB if I, up in the middle of the night lol

@YogiRunner: I too am extremely paranoid about baby coming early! I'm glad things have settled down for you. I think its all about body getting ready for whats about to happen!!

@ModernDayJibarita: LOL about the chipmunk. Preggo dreams are out of control.

@My Only Sunshine: Glad baby has moved around for you! This new position sounds much more comfortable for you. Baby is getting ready!

I spent all of Saturday in hospital. Around noon I started to get pain/cramping/contractions that progressively got worse and worse and stronger and eventually unbearable, with no breaks in between. I told DH that something was wrong and we needed to go, NOW. The nurses quickly whisked me in to start monitoring baby and run a bunch of tests. They offered me fentanyl for the pain but I refused, I don't even know what that is?? During the cervical exam I needed to use the gas because even that was so freaking painful (which btw scared the heck out of me bc it makes everything esp the face, numb!) Several hours later, the pain began to subside and eventually went away. All the tests came back clear, baby's arrival is not imminent, besides the head being quite low. Will have yet another ultrasound this week. I really hate to project, but this baby is a little trouble maker already!!

@tinyperson: Thanks. It was so scary and for DD to see me in that pain was hard too. She came with us to to the hospital and I'm pretty sure I screamed in pain, "oh fuck!!" at least twice in while we were there.

@My Only Sunshine: I really like that idea! I"m totally going to use that with J.

@ohemgee: @Autumnmama79: @rockinghorse: @YogiRunner: @ModernDayJibarita: they are the worst! I'm trying so hard to drink water and stretch before bed to not have that happen again!

We just had swim lessons for my little guy this weekend. Man, it was so luxurious to feel "normal" and not carry the weight of my belly for a little while. I never really got to swim last pregnancy, but I get what the hype is!

Lately I"ve been feeling ups and downs. I have had numerous people comment on how big I am/wow, you aren't expecting until late May/do you have two in there? Its so obnoxious. Then I made the mistake last week of looking at my weekly pic of last pregancy and comparing it to this time. BIG mistake. I know you're bigger with a second pregnancy and supposedly girls, but come on people, you need to either keep your mouth shut or tell me I look beautiful!

@YogiRunner: lol you are not the only paranoid one! I keep telling baby don't come until May. We are so not ready still.

@sslm: Thanks mama. Baby needs to hang tight for 8 more weeks!

@HazelEyes: Glad you enjoyed the swimming. We have a pool and I have been really enjoying it this pregnancy. The feeling of weightlessness is just priceless! Plus its one activity that I can fully engage in with DD. I even find that really full baths have been a lifesaver and offer me that same feeling of weightlessness.

Sorry about the crappy comments. I've gotten a few too. I swore the next time I got pg after DD I was going to be one of those 'only showing in the belly' kind of preggos but NOPE, once again I'm a fat all over kind. Its hard and the only people who've told me I look good are my aunt and my mum, which means, well, they are both lovely and sweet people.

    I'm guessing you look beautiful!

@HazelEyes: UGH! My MIL likes to comment about my size all the time. Its super annoying. When I was 4 months preggo she was like you look 6 months! How much weight are you gaining? I told her 5 lbs. She said are you sure?!? I said, yes, do you want to talk to my doctor! Then she comments oh people were saying you look huge too at the family get together. UGHHHHH!!!!
I go to work and this temp girl who is covering me for when I go on mat leave. She goes, oh you are getting bigger from the last time I saw you...uhhh thanks.... Just can't win.
I agree people should just shut it!

@HazelEyes: Sorry about the crappy comments! I've gotten the twins comment and the "you look ready to pop!" comment a few times. It's frustrating! I actually got a "you're so small!" comment the other day, which was almost worse, because she was definitely insinuating that I wasn't eating enough and was starving my baby.... people are stupid!

@Autumnmama79: Yikes! I'm glad everything turned out alright - these babies need to stay where they are until May!!!

@HazelEyes: @csross217: @ohemgee: What is wrong with people? A woman at work today said "Wow, you must be having that baby any day now!" Nope, two more months, thanks.

Has anyone's doctor guessed their baby's weight? I rotate through OBs at my practice. None of them guessed the weight last time. This time, there's one new OB and he felt my belly at today's appointment and said he thinks baby will be about 8 pounds. Seems so weird to guess that from manhandling my stomach at 29 weeks!

  20. ohemgee

    cherry / 130 posts

@My Only Sunshine: ugh people! They shouldn't say a thing

I rotate through OBs too at my OB office. The only thing the OBs has done is measure the baby. They would say measuring just right on time. I'm like oh ok. No clue. haha I haven't had anyone guess weight yet. The OB's weight guess was right for my 1st daughter when she was born. Its weird how they know just by feeling your belly.

Well, I just got the call I was expecting - I failed the 1hr glucose test. I'll have to do the 2hr on Monday. It took them 7 business days to call with the results, so that got my hopes up! I had GD with my first, so I was pretty sure I'd have it again. Going to enjoy a few treats over the weekend.

So........ We are TG dropouts. And it is amazing!!! I was having a really hard time with this pregnancy, it's been very physically challenging and emotionally I was really struggling. Between the constant sickness, the crazy hormones, and being pregnant in Aussie summer I can not pick out much of it that I have really enjoyed. And as my last baby, I hate that.

With 10 weeks to go, we found out what Bub is to give me a chance to be able to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy and bond with baby.

We are having a..... GIRL!!!!! I'm so incredibly happy, and I feel like I can form a real bond with her now

@iheartleopardprint: Wow! That is amazing, I'm so glad you feel happier and able to bond! Congrats on your sweet little impending arrival
I've been tempted to be a TG dropout but I think DH would kill me!

@iheartleopardprint: Congrats on your GIRL!! DH and I have been wavering lately but I think we'll hold on to TG status.

@YogiRunner: I was TG for FI, but I was having a really hard time with it. He saw how unhappy and how disconnected I was so he said he was happy to find out if that would help me. So we found out, and afterwards he said he surprising feels better knowing. So we are both happy.

I wish I could have stuck with it, but I am so much happier and connected now. And I think that will make me a better partner and mum to DD and DS, as I was really struggling with this pregnancy.

    Thanks everyone

@HazelEyes: Thanks for posting! It's nice to see all the dates and the boy/girls again.

I'm no longer freaking out (that much) about baby coming too early. My OB reassured me that as long as I don't have more than 4 contractions in an hour and they go away when lie down, all those aches and pains are normal.
However - I'm all of a sudden measuring 3 cm behind on the fundal height!? Hoping it's just baby's position but I'm going in for an u/s on Monday. Trying not to worry too much... oh how I miss the blissfully ignorant days of the 2nd tri.

I can't get the list to copy and paste on my phone, but I'm scheduled for a c section on May 20!

  38. Autumnmama79

    pear / 1703 posts

@YogiRunner: my dr said fundal height is normal if within 5cm range either way. Does that make sense?

@tinyperson: yay for a date! May 20th sounds like a lovely time to have a baby

I just came back from an ultrasound to follow up after the drama last weekend and tech said baby weighs approx 4 pounds 9 ounces!! that's big according to the size charts... Should I worry?

  39. tinyperson

    pomegranate / 3858 posts

@Autumnmama79: thanks! It's nice to be able to plan...

As for size, I take u/s sizing with a grain of salt. I was told LO1 would be 7.5-8 lbs when she was born and she ended up being born at 5.5lbs!

  40. rockinghorse

    cherry / 215 posts

@Autumnmama79: Well we are due the same day, and on Tuesday my girl was estimated at 5 lbs 4 oz. Yes, that is 3 weeks big! I was 5 some lbs born 4 weeks early and my 6' 3" hubby was 10 some lbs 3 weeks early!!! The MD thinks its just cause my hubby is so big, but I now have to check my blood sugars every day for a week even though I passed my 3 hour glucose. My first 2 fasting sugars have been normal, so fingers crossed! I'm starting to worry about whether or not a vaginal delivery will be possible, but I am trying not to think about it. Maybe I'll go a couple weeks early before she gets a chance to get too big!!! (fully cooked though, of course)
