@anbanan15: I think the white trees will brighten it up a ton. I'm worried about finding a dresser to match because the crib and the rocker don't match exactly so I think it'd be easier to get white..buut I think that would look weird? DH is going to put book ledges and maybe floating shelves in there

@Mrs. J: thanks! We've probably gotten ahead of ourselves but once DH decides to do something he's in it 100% so here we go!

@MrsTiz: I think you can mix wood tones with white tones. It's almost better than matchy matchy.

@Mrs. J: If it needs more white, I can always paint the glider, right? I think i'm going to recover it anyway. It's comfy but not very attractive

@MrsTiz: Of course--paint it white, change up the cushions in a fun, brighter pattern!

I'm jealous of y'all who get to paint! We're renting and we can't oh well, guess that means I get to choose some super cute decals! My sister is pretty artistic so I think she's going to do some canvas paintings for us.

@MrsTiz: It really looks great and I think you can totally mix tones or refinish the glider! With the right fabric refinishing it white would look amazing!

I'm thinking of refinishing ours. I wanted to recover it with DS but never did and didn't really use it like I intended. I was just looking at it the other month and realized the ottoman and glider were two different stains! DH got it from a baby furniture store he use to work for so it was a free Dutailier, but I never notice it didn't match and now it bothers me haha.

@Mrs. J: Don't feel like a slacker!! You have plenty of time and it's still early. If it makes your feel any better, with DS we couldn't even begin doing anything in the nursery until 38 weeks because we moved at 37! I was so paranoid I would go into labor early, but alas DS was 9 days late and everything came together quickly because I knew what I wanted to look like in my head. I wouldn't recommend waiting that long but there is tons of time to build the nursery!

@lilteacherbee: We are renting too and while we probably could have painted (private rental) we decided not to deal with. It was our main motivation for wanting large trees that covered much of the wall space and I really love how the dar brown looks against the light tan walls. Decals cover the space so well and there are so many options out there!

@lilteacherbee: Haha, I'm jealous of all of you doing nurseries at all! But I'm ok with it. I really don't need the headache. But all the plans and motifs y'all are going with sound so super cute!

@Cara M. 17: DH needs to do that stat! He left me for 4 hours while I was being induced with DS...in his defense my mom was there and I gave him permission to go and get himself and her food (she needed good coffee lol). I was expecting maybe an hour to be gone but he had to use the little boys room at his parents house and got sucked into the TV. Ugh! Men! Luckily nothing was really happening and he didn't miss the good stuff, but I still wanted to strangle him!.

@anbanan15: OMG! I would have been pretty angry. Since this is my first I don't know the pains of labor, but I am hoping to have an unmediated birth and I know it will be painful. I made my DH watch the video and he thought it was pretty funny. He knows it's not easy after seeing his sister in labor.

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Cara M. 17: It is hard to know what to expect! Just go in with an open mind and try not to get disappointed if things don't go as planned. I had hoped for an unmedicated birth too and intend to try for one those time, but because I was induced and the things they tried were not working I ended up needing to be medicated. I was very disappointed in myself about it and very tired and frustrated going into the induction between my body not doing what it should and my original induction being rescheduled an hour before we were set to arrive due to an "influx of laboring mothers". The prize at he end is all that matters

@anbanan15: Great advice, thanks! I'm sorry to hear your experience was so frustrating. Hopefully with LO #2 things will go smoothly. I am definitely planning to keep an open mind. I would love to have an unmediated birth but am open to whatever is needed to have a healthy baby.

@Cara M. 17: It was good - I'll go update the appointments thread. It's been a busy week for me. I survived two, all-day work meetings and the catered food they brought into the conference room. Though, at one point I thought I might toss my cookies when the lunchmeat platter was brought in

I have some catching up to do - hope you are well!

@lilteacherbee: Congrats on finding out that you're having a BOY! And what a fun way to tell your husband!

@MrsTiz: Loving the dark blue wall color!

@Cara M. 17: wow - I'll have to keep that video handy and show it to my husband at some point Right now though, since our house has all hardwood floors and everything echos, he knows how bad things are with the nausea and sickness. And how lucky he is

@anbanan15: woohoo!!! It would be hard not to laugh at that ha

    I'm 14 weeks tomorrow!! I'm feeling huge!

    @anbanan15: Bahahaha, that's hilarious!!

@lilteacherbee: Me too! My mom and DH say it's baby... I think it's fat. :((

  22. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@Ash: Yeah I've only gained about 5 pounds but I guess because I'm so short, it looks like a lot more!

So we registered yesterday at Babies R Us and Walmart ( I wanted to do Target, but the closest one to most of my family is 45 min away, so I settled on Walmart). It's pretty early, but it was so fun!! It's like going shopping without spending any money haha. I told my sister that I felt it was an important step for me because I'm allowing myself to think about the BABY and not just the pregnancy like I did with the m/c.

We've known it's a boy for less than a week and my mom has already bought him tons of clothes. She's so excited!!

  23. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@lilteacherbee: registering is so much fun!! I don't think it's too early considering you know you are having a boy...it's also probably awhile away before people know about the registry and/or start ordering from it so you will have plenty of time to tweak it if you want without pressure of a deadline like an upcoming shower :).

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@lilteacherbee: I agree with @anbanan15: we started (I started) registering yesterday. It's exciting--it makes it feel more real!

To be totally honest regarding the registries, I've had a private one on Amazon for monthhhhs. I started researching baby stuff last September/October, knowing we were going to start trying in January-ish, and started putting it together more-so as a "guide" for me. It's been great as I've researched stuff and once I decide whatever item is the "best," I'll just add it to the Amazon "registry." I slowly started buying things off of it and only now am I starting to rethink of it as a "registry" and be like, "Oh, maybe I should stop buying things so there's still stuff to be registered for..."

I'm having a hard time with it though, as we're Prime members on Amazon, so combining Amazon's always lowest prices with free shipping, I feel guilty registering at Babies R Us or anywhere else because the prices are so freaking high in comparison!

  26. Cara M. 17

    clementine / 825 posts

@lilteacherbee: I'm so jealous you started your registry! How fun!

@ash: I've been feeling bloated/fat too! My stomach just started to pop at the end of last week. I just learned today that I've only gained 3 pounds in 13.5 weeks, so I guess it really is baby!

@ms. janedoe: I've had an Amazon wishlist for months too! I'm a research-oholic, so everytime I read about a great new or highly recommended product, I add it to my wishlist! I'll be using it as a guide once I register at Buy Buy Baby. I'll also be doing an Amazon.com registry for items that aren't available at BBB.

@ms.janedoe: I started a private one on Amazon like the day after we found out about the baby! So fun.

@Ash: @MrsTiz: It says boy for me! I won't know until November though

  30. MrsTiz

@Ash: Boy for me if I do conception date!

I've had an Amazon Wishlist forever for baby gear, it's going to suck to transfer it all to BRU and Target. My family are all oldschool and wouldn't order offline, so the specialty stuff I'll have to get myself.

@lilteacherbee: @Mrs. J: What did you register for? I'm looking forward to it but dreading it because I have no idea what to register for!

  31. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Mrs. J: Eeeeeeeeeeeeep! And that's what you think too!! Mine said girl which is what DH and I both think. I actually like not knowing! :))

  32. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: I haven't started a wishlist or registry or anything... Not sure if I will either. We just got married in August and I'd feel bad if we have a baby shower only a year later. We'll see though. Probably doesn't hurt to set up a wishlist though so I know what I want to buy!!

  33. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@MrsTiz: I've added our crib and just started working my way through Lucie's list and the checklist from BBB, along with recommendations from here. My grandma has already told me she wants to buy the Britax b-ready and carseat for us, so I will buy it during the Free Ride event in June, and she'll give us the money. She's nuts! I love her.

I think I'm going to go to Target to today and look at more in person, and then visit BBB again later. DH pretty much gave me the go ahead to register for what I want because "you'll know better because you're the mom" and then we will go over my choices together.

    @Ash: I don't know why, but I really think you're carrying a girl too!

Are you doing a Jenny Lind style crib??

@Cara M. 17: Oooooooo! It will be fun to see how accurate this is. :)) You're team green right??

    clementine / 825 posts

@Cara M. 17: That's a fun idea! I was thinking about doing the same thing - we find out in about 3 weeks but it would be nice to have it a secret, just to ourselves.

@Ash: Yes! I'm going to get the white one.

I put in DS's info in the chinese gender predictor and it said girl. Then I put in this baby and it also said girl. So maybe I'm having a boy again
