@anbanan15: Lol, have you ever seen the Mennonite Game song on You Tube?
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@FarmWifeGina: No! Haha but I got asked a majority of those questions in college! One of my guy friends nickname for me was "Amish" once he found out where I was from (still calls me it and never uses me real name) and he is fully convinced I have/had a horse and buggy at home.

This Amish/Mennonite conversation is cracking me up! I live about an hour from Lancaster and my parents used to love going there to buy furniture and crafts so I've been there many times. How strange that so many of us have lived nearby these communities!
How is everyone's weekend going? DH and I went to BBB and ordered our recliner today. I am super excited and can't wait to rock Baby M to sleep in it! It will take 8-12 weeks to come in, which is perfect timing since DH wanted to paint in early July.

@Cara M. 17: our closest bbb is 3hrs away but I've been begging dh to take me!
I'm actually at an Amish house right now! Cutest little kids ever here!

@Ash: I love it there. It's so much nicer and better organized than BBRU. Ours are literally across the street to each other.

@Cara M. 17: DH says when things calm down (busy time of year for construction) he will take me. YAY!! I wanna get my glider there... and maybe the crib. :)) And I like that they'll take my bed bath & beyond coupons!!
I picked out my nursery inspiration this weekend... Eeek!!
It's from our very own HB!!

@Ash: yay you will love it! I love the color in that nursery! You can definitely add accents once your LO is here to make it more girly or boyish. Will you do the lattice wall too? I love the way that looks!

@Ash: I really love that room! I wish I had those curtains in my bedroom right now. So nice!

@Ash: Ooooh, fancy! I love the blue (aqua? teal? whatever...) with the white!
Things are still goin' fine up here! I seriously have ZERO patience for the 24th to come (anatomy scan!)... I've been doing a few little odds and ends here and there for the nursery, nothing huge yet (darker grey walls, white trim (the paint and trim were already in there, I'm not changing it), white Hudson Babyletto crib, working on refinishing a mid-century dresser). Panicked a little when I started looking at gliders/chairs and realized how freaking expensive they are!
I know for sure once we know the sex, I'll have to reign myself in again shopping-wise... My mom is throwing me a shower (pretty sure that's on the like, "OMG so tacky" list, but whatever) sometime at the end of the summer I think (near the end of August probably), so that should be fun! Still no "for-sure" movements felt, I'm pretty sure I can feel it at night when I lay down, but again, who knows!

@MrsTiz: Oh, P.S. I also thought of you this weekend. DH and I were driving around up north at the cabin, and in someone's driveway, they had a big ol' (pet) white bunbun just layin' in the sun. It looked like your avatar...just a little more sleepy.

@ms.janedoe: My anatomy scan is the 24th also! I'll be 18w3d. Unfortunately it is with MFM and we didn't really get any say on when it would be scheduled so it looks like DH won't be able to come (it's bright and early on his work day). Bummer!!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@anbanan15: Ugh, that blows. My DH travels for work so I'm hoping he's able to get a late flight out/not have to fly out on Monday so he can come! What time is yours at?

@Ash: I think you need these A&A blankets that are on gilt today! I just bought the gray ones since we are painting the nursery gray!
clementine / 825 posts
@ms.janedoe: We are working on odds and ends too. Picked up some gray paint swatches this weekend and I'm trying to narrow them down. DH is red/green color blind so the two I'm looking at seem almost the same to him.
We ordered our recliner this weekend also since it takes 8-12 weeks to come in. They are definitely expensive, but we wanted to splurge on this since we are hoping to have it last for two babies and we know we will end up sleeping in it many times. With a 20% BBB coupon it was about $500 including tax.
I am so jealous of these anatomy scans coming up! Mine isn't until 7/8! Am I the last one on the board to learn the sex??

@Cara M. 17: I have the grey ones, too! Our paint color is Rockport Grey by Benjamin Moore...I think. If you don't mind my asking, what chair did you end up getting?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Cara M. 17: Yep! I assigned the taping of the walls to my mom and the painting to dh. Hahah! Love those blankets! If our master and one of our upstairs bedrooms weren't gray, I'd be all over painting it gray too!
@MrsTiz: aren't they gorgeous? Love everything about the room. I am only using the wall color and design as inspiration though.
@ms.janedoe: yes! Gliders are pricey. It depresses me but I have to have one!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Cara M. 17: nooooo me and mrs.j won't know until November! Hahah! Our scan isn't even scheduled yet!
clementine / 825 posts
@ms.janedoe: Oh I'll check out that color! The swatches I have are Valspar from Lowes. I think we are going to get a sample of the lighter one and paint on the wall a bit to get a better sense of the color. We bought the Little Castle Treasure recliner and it's quite possibly the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. It's gray with white piping. It comes in any combination of colors, but that's what we chose. They had a really nice glider too but we liked the idea of a recliner so that we could lay back if LO was having a rough night and finally fell asleep while we held her.

@Ash: I love it! Can't wait to see pics! That's true so I'm not last to find out, but I think last of those who are finding out!!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@ms.janedoe: 8:30 EST! DH works a rotating and split shift (1/2 3rd and all of 1st) so the planning of appointments is so hard! He hasn't been able to go to anything this pregnancy except the dating u/s. Last time he was on 2nd so as long as appointments were in the am he could make them. I imagine you have the same trouble with your husbands schedule?
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@anbanan15: Ooooh, I'm at 8:30am CST! We'll have some catching up to do after! I totally hear you--DH has come to the very first dating ultrasound and that's been it (though, I'll admit he hasn't really missed a whole lot!). I'll have to remind him again today to see if he's requested the morning "off" yet!
@Cara M. 17: Hahahah, yesss. Have you been having any thoughts one way or another (as to if it's a boy or girl)? I really haven't yet...I'm still so confused! I feel like early on I was convinced it was a girl, now I'm thinking boy...but I can never decide what I think it is!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Cara M. 17: Love these!! I love teal/turquoise /aqua and grey!
@Ash: Love those curtains!!
clementine / 825 posts
@ms.janedoe: We both think girl, but I think it may be a boy just to throw us off! I've taken a bunch of the old wives tale gender quizzes and they all say girl. I guess we will find out soon enough!
@anbanan15: I love aqua with gray too! Even the girl bedding we like is pink and aqua! The boy bedding is gray/aqua/blue!

We went to PBK yesterday and bought this cute blue and green elephant bedding out. Soooo cute! I picked out owl decor too...I don't care that they would never live together because they look so cute together!
PBK is super dangerous! Too cute!

@Mrs. J: Oh man, forgot about pbk. Gonna take a nap and head to the website!
@Cara M. 17: I have the exact same thoughts as you. I feel like baby is gonna throw us off and be a boy even though everything tells me girl.
@anbanan15: I love the wall! And the curtains!

We don't have our anatomy scan on the 24th too! 1:15pm EDT :D.
We cheated a little bit this weekend though, and got an elective scan. We intended to do it if the MT21 results came back girl, to confirm, but then we wanted to do it anyways, even though they said boy. It was really cool. We got to see him moving around a ton, and got visual confirmation that it's definitely a boy. Here's a 3d pic they gave us -

@MrsCB: Awww I love it!! The 3D pictures are so cool. Since we're having our anatomy scan at the perinatologist, I think they'll probably switch it to 3D at some point. Ours is next Tuesday and I can't wait!!!
So I ordered our crib bedding and I've picked out the crib and changing table (we'll probably order those in a few weeks). Our dresser and glider are both coming from my grandma's house. My grandpa (who passed away in April) was super excited about giving us the glider. He talked about it for about a week before he passed away, so it means a lot to me.

This is the bedding, and then I picked out a couple of different sheets. We'll do the Harper bed skirt in green, and these curtains. I am going to make valances out of the duvet below.
Still working on paint colors!
Aren't the owls so cute?

@Mrs. J: is it the Brooks set? That's the one we picked out if we have a boy!
ETA: never mind I didn't look all the way down to your pics! I love that one too!!!

@Cara M. 17: I've been wanting a recliner and now you've given me a new excuse to try an make room in the budget for one, lol. A recliner with a newborn (and in the last few weeks of pregnancy) sounds like heaven!
@MrsCB: Gorgeous baby!
@Mrs. J: OMG, I die- SO CUTE!

@FarmWifeGina: Honestly once we sat in it there was no way we could have bought a cheaper glider. It was just. So. Comfortable. Can't wait to rock Baby M to sleep in it!

@MrsCB: precious!
@Mrs. J: love it!
I think I changed my mind for the paint color already. I'm like a fart in a skillet. I just don't know how gender neutral it is.
Second option with yellow and orange mix ins:

@Ash: I like the other blue better but I do like the yellow accents!

@Ash: I think it could be gender neutral depending on the other colors and patterns in the room.
