@FarmWifeGina: My parents are going to come stay with us for an unspecified amount of time. At some point, I think we really need to specify though, lol. I know they're planning to celebrate Thanksgiving with us, but if baby goes a week or 2 early IDK that I can handle having guests for a full week +. My house is on the small side (bought when I thought I'd be single forever!) and only has one full bathroom (plus a 1/2). I think I'd feel more comfortable with an extended stay if we had an en suite bathroom plus a full guest one.
My mom has recently had both of her knees replaced (and I live in a 4 floor townhouse) so I'm assuming she'll mostly help by cooking and watching the baby when we're in desperate need of a nap. We'll probably have a list of freezer meals for her to make when she gets here, lol. My dad will probably sit around and hopefully take care of the dogs (they have one and we have one).
@Mrs. J: I will be a WOHM. I'm hoping everything falls into place - I'm currently a contractor (which I love for the $$$) but they want to hire me on full time, which means benefits and maternity leave. But it's a start up and we're waiting to hear on budget approval. If I get flipped to full time I'll take 12 weeks, paid at likely 100%. Some of it will be short term disability, and some will be vacation. We're also planning on DH taking ~6 weeks off as well.
@NeekieRose: , @sweetooth: DH and I did a couple consignment sales this past spring! It was crazy, but fun. If you want any specific gear, you have to the first day right when they open. We waited in line for the opening and we still missed out on stuff. Also, make sure to do research on what used gear is going for. I bought a rainforest jumperoo, which I was really excited to find, but then saw a local consignment store that I follow on FB had it a little cheaper. I had DH stay in one spot while I ran around and grabbed things and then brought them to him. But if you just want clothes, there's usually tons and tons of super cheap stuff.
@MrsCastro: Welcome :). Feel free to join in as long as you like!

@MrsCastro: Feel free to join in - you never know, you might be early and be a November mama too!

@anbanan15: It's so easy to get a schedule like mine - most hospitals these days only do 12s but my mom just got a job working 8s. Most places seem flexible and you can work as much or as little as you want. I'll wall you!
@MrsCastro: YAY!!!! Welcome, friend!! We'd love you have you join in on conversations - we can be pretty chatty at times!! Appointment went well - I only have an upper respiratory infection so no treatment, she said. Thanks for asking!!

Oh, and, my mom lives 3 hours away from us but she is working on finding land to move up here before baby comes. If she isn't moved up here, she plans on staying with us for a short time, I guess.

I have to say, I'm pretty excited about my mom coming and preparing some freezer meals, especially for the winter months. Cozy food! I wouldn't be as interested in freezer meals for the summer months.
I'm thinking chili will definitely be on the list. And I always like it when she makes her chicken noodle soup. For the freezer version just hold off on the noodles and then make them as you serve it. Another easy freezer item is taco meat, portioned out. Then you can easily make little single servings of nachos. I think I'm reverting back to the one time in college where she made me a bunch of meals for my freezer during finals. Chili, chicken noodle soup, and taco meat. Mmmm!

On my list of ideas is
-Chili
-Taco meat
-Cream of Chicken + Wild Rice Soup
-Spaghetti Sauce
-Lasagna
Very similar to @sweetooth: 's thoughts!
I can't think of anything else. I know i'll keep a roast or two in the freezer for easy crock pot cooking.

@sweetooth: @MrsTiz:
DH and I were talking about how a winter/fall baby is way better for appetizing freezer meals just the other night. We both like to have a stash in the freezer right now to help us from getting take-out when we’re too busy to cook.
Our go-to items are:
Enchiladas
Lasagna
(for both of these I like to also freeze extra sauce)
Soup
Chili
I like the taco meat idea. Genius! I LOVE making nachos & taco salad so that would be perfect.

@MrsTiz: Do you like gnocchi or perogies? I've made them as freezer meals before....just flash freeze them individually before packaging up so they don't stick together. The gnocchi I froze without sauce and then added that when I cooked it later. I like to make a bunch of them and freeze for later since they take forever making fresh & homemade
@sweetooth: We do the taco meat all the time!

So I think I am cutting gluten and dairy from my diet starting tomorrow. I'm debating if I should go get these cupcakes from this new cupcake place before cutting them out though....I just can't decided if it's worth the drive lol. It opened while I was on TED nursing DS and I haven't been able to try them yet. Apparently they are amazing!
DH requested that we eat at PF Changs before I eliminate rice and soy. I'm not sure when we will get there since the closest one is ~1.5 hours away.

@anbanan15: LOL- WHY do I keep hearing about this new cupcake place that is halfway across the country from me?! It's evil, I tell ya! Never mind that I'm GF too... But I want cupcakes and all my PA friends are talking about them on Facebook!

@FarmWifeGina: my mom is GF, so I love baking for her. She always requests my peanut butter chocolate cupcakes for her birthday, and this is the GF pie I made for Thanksgiving. It is caramel apple cherry cranberry pie.

@Mrs. J: Mmmmmmmmm, that looks amazing! I love to bake and I have a ton of GF baking supplies in my cupboard, but I have yet to make the jump to doing much GF baking. I think I'm still grieving my love of baking bread and feeling the gluten develop under my own hands, lol.

@anbanan15: I've never heard of either of those lol!
@Mrs. J: YUM, that looks so great!

@FarmWifeGina: Scratch?!? I've gotten them a few times for the rest of the family and they say they are SO good! DH doesn't like sweets but liked these. She had some more unique flavor combos and they just opened a second shop.
@Mrs. J: That looks great! And how cute are you?!?

@Ash: Gaaaah! I'm here. I've been followin' along but haven't said much, I suck. Our internet at work was down for 3 and a half days (Monday through yesterday morning), and since I do most of my HBing at work, I was left high and dry! I have my phone, but it takes forrrrever to respond using it.
Total drama regarding maternity leave--we had a meeting on Monday, thought everything was worked out perfectly, couldn't believe how well it went, then all of a sudden on Wednesday, my manager decided that he "changed his mind" on "a few things." Long story short, I'm kind of back to square one with trying to figure out what to do. Not cool.
I have a super ridiculously planned out freezer meal list...now I just have to see if I'll actually execute it... It's all freezer to Crock-Pot meals (because I'm super lazy), and I was planning on 2-3 a week, depending on if/when DH will be home. I don't think we'll have many people bringing us food, so it'll be nice to have something to fall back on. Now I'm just hoping they don't suck...'cause that would really be bad.
Not much else is happening...24 weeks today!! So nuts! Baby has been moving like CRAZY, so that's been fun! Zits are still awful (surprise, surprise), but otherwise, no real complaints! My shower is comin' up on August 15th--a little early, but due to a family member's flight schedule/other weddings and showers going on the next month, it's the only time that worked. Whew! Long update!
OK, I'm off to take a 24 week picture in the work bathroom...I tooootally slacked off on that... Oops.

@ms.janedoe: Just checkin' on ya!! Sucks about work - ugh!! Hopefully they get something together soon... November isn't that far away!! We won't have people bringing us food either... and I hate worrying about what's for dinner NOW so I can imagine how it will be after baby comes. I need to come up with something.
@Mrs. J: Yum!!!

@anbanan15: Yep, that's the one! LOL. Everyone's like, gah! Cupcaaaaaakes!!! From Scratch!!!! Baha!
@ms.janedoe: Oh man, hope you are able to get your ducks in a row soon! You're 3.5 months out- EEP! Where are you finding your freezer to crockpot recipes? I've been thinking I want some of these too.

@FarmWifeGina: Here's the list of links I found and then went through. I was totally picky though and only am making a few from each of the "lists." I'm sure you could tweak a few things to make them all healthy and stuff (I am not healthy. At all.)!

@ms.janedoe: Wow, thanks! I'll look these up! OMG, before we know it, the air will be crisp and cold, we might even have a bunch of snow on the ground, and we'll be having our babies and having those crock pots cooking merrily away!

@FarmWifeGina: I don't even like cupcakes ha.
@ms.janedoe: I may have to check these out!

@sarah.clarisse: ooh, making taco salad with the taco meat is a great idea!
One other cool thing about the taco meat, is that my mom would store it in small ziploc bags. So they store flat and take up a LOT less room.
@anbanan15: I love pierogies! And I say yes on the cupcakes. One more treat before you cut out the gluten!
@ms.janedoe: Sorry to hear about the maternity leave drama with work. I hope that gets worked out soon. I haven't even told work yet I work from home so no one sees me. But I do plan to share the news soon. // Thanks for all of those links to freezer meals!

So I was determined not to take unisom last night. When did I fall asleep? 5 am. And I may have just woken up at 12. Ahhhh insomnia is horrible
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: Nom nom nom!!
@lilteacherbee: Oh no! I had really bad insomnia when I came off the unisom but after a few days, I was back to normal!

@anbanan15: What was this about not really caring for cupcakes? NOM NOM NOM.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@FarmWifeGina: haha I really don't. My mom and I went to a fabric shop in the middle of nowhere and the cupcake place was on the way so...since we happened to passed it, we logically needed a 1/2 dozen!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@anbanan15: I love your logic that if you eat half of 6, you've only had 3 cupcakes. SO true! Hope you enjoyed the treats!
@lilteacherbee: So sorry to hear about the terrible insomnia! Are you able to nap? To help catch some zzz's?
pear / 1571 posts
@anbanan15: Makes total sense, teehee.
Holy buckets, I can already SEE this child moving from the outside. With my other pregnancies, thanks to anterior placentas, I was only starting to feel good movements- now I'm really SKEERED of the third tri! S/he's going to to be attempting full-fledged jailbreak by then!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Mrs. J: Sure thing
@sweetooth: They were great! I only ate 2.5 My mom pulled the plug when I was getting ready to cut into the 6th one and forced me to give it to DH....she was eating the other half along with me and couldn't keep up haha. It was Twix flavored too and I was excited about that one lol
Flavors
top row: strawberry shortcake, Oreo, strawberry lemonade
bottom row: mocha latte, blueberry buttermilk pancake, Twix
persimmon / 1386 posts
@anbanan15: ooo Twix flavor. I wouldn't have given that one up!
I actually have a little side "business" making cupcakes. I am always looking for new flavors to try. I think Twix is going to need to be on the list for this month!

So I feel super sick!! Woke up to doggie diarrhea (our one dog has been sick) that caused me to gag when I cleaned it and resulted in me vomiting food I ate 15+ hours before...is that normal? Like shouldn't it have been all digested by now? I then took my meds and waited then ate like normal thinking it was just MS/dog induced. Well what I had for breakfast also came up alone with a lovely medicinal taste at the end. I drank something and now I feel that just sitting there waiting to come out....it doesn't help that DS needs to constantly he on me, at my belly and of course this baby has decided to be super active this morning.
At this point I'm not sure if it's MS or maybe food poisoning? I cooked a roast last night that we had frozen for awhile so...
@NeekieRose: yummy!
