@sweetooth: My total preggo moment was last night when I ate nutella out the jar with a spoon.

I've been debating getting a snoogle - I have 2 body pillows (regular target one and boppy body pillow) and I don't love either of them. But I'm very picky about having the right neck support so I've been hesitant to try the snoogle.

@Ash: Nah, you're not slow. I just can't seem to organize my thoughts clearly these days

@MrsCB: Yep, that's a preggo moment for sure I bought the babies-r-us brand snoogle to save a few $. I immediately tried it out when I got home. I think it has good support, but I'll see how I sleep tonight. I'm particular about my pillows too.

@MrsCB: I don't know if you'll think this is weird or not, but today I was thinking about the "I heart NY" graphic and how they have them for every city these days. Your son's name will be Declan Cole, right? You could wear a t-shirt with this graphic on it when he's all snuggled up in your arms! (FYI - I live in DC )

@sweetooth: my preggo moment is sad compared to yours! I have been sleeping like crap so I was just really frustrated and just off all day yesterday. I made dinner and made stuff that I don't eat but DH does, and he just started raving about how delicious it was. I cried. Bahahaha *hangs head in embarrasment*

@MrsTiz: That's not sad at all! I think it shows strength that even though you had an "off day" you cooked a nice meal for your husband. And as for the tears, just blame the belly

Alright so we were going really good with not buying clothing ahead until I walked into BabyGap today and they had the most adorable stuff in blues and greens on clearance + an additional 40% off. Oops!

@Mrs. J: eeeeeeek! Just left the Carter's outlet-we bought boy and girl stuff and they said we can return after the baby is born. I was on a roll. Heading to bbb now. I am so pumped! I'll let you know what I leave with.

@Ash: oh, it's beautiful! I just love white nursery furniture. DH is building me racks for my clothes today so I can clean out the nursery. I can't wait to put everything together!

I am so glad we don't have to look for a glider... We are inheriting my parents' rocking chair from when I was a baby. Supposedly it is tall enough for DH! I think I want to do a pouf with it.

Are you thinking upholstered glider or a wooden one?

  13. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Mrs. J: our nursery has my treadmill in it plus all of the baby stuff we have accumulated. Lol! And the crib is actually a pale gray... so I'll attach a pic of my inspiration.

I was thinking upholstered glider but no luck even after going to a furniture store. I feel so picky. I might inherit my grandma's wooden rocker.. I just wanted something more comfy.

Love the idea of a pouf!

@Ash: oh! I can totally tell it is gray now...love it! It is so sophisticated.
fyi I have 20% off at PBK (today only) if you want the code to look at their gliders. Let me know!

@Ash: A pale gray crib sounds lovely! I know what you mean about gliders/rockers. I fell in love with an insanely expensive glider/recliner but recently decided to just go with the affordable Poang chair at IKEA.

    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/series/07472/

I figure we'll see what our habits are with the baby, and this chair will allow us to move it around the house if needed. We have lots of upholstered chairs, so I just couldn't reason with the cost of another one just for the baby room.

Do any of you have the snoogle or a body pillow? I have been sleeping with the snoogle pillow since Friday and I'm not sure if I'm digging it. Plus, I still find myself rolling over on it because I'm SO used to sleeping on my back so then I wake up all tangled in a snoogle. And Saturday AM I woke up early to an excruciating charlie horse in my leg and had to hop out of bed and wrestle with the snoogle! It's been comical, and frustrating. But I don't know how else I can try to train myself not to sleep on my back.

  19. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@sweetooth: I have a body pillow I sleep with between my knees and up to almost under my chin. I like it, but it's kinda worn out and getting flat. I toss and turn all night so I think a Snoogle would piss me off and encroach into DH's zone. The idea sounds awesome but for now i'll just stick with my body pillow. A way to try and not sleep on your back is to have a regular sized pillow between your knees and one behind your back...so that way you can't roll from your side to your back and if you need to flip over there is a pillow there to put your knees on

@sweetooth: How do you stop?! It's SO addicting! I'm mean when you can get 11 BabyGap items (mostly complete outfits too) for $28 there is no way you can go wrong haha

I just use a regular pillow between my legs. That's all I needed with DS so we will see how it goes this time. I do feel like the inside of my pelvic bone is stiff at certain times though. Like I can't spread my legs far apart, but I'm not really sure what the deal is there.

@Ash: Love the crib and the pale gray sounds lovely! Are you getting the combo unit, hutch and dressers too? We ended up just getting the combo unit that matched our crib (without the hutch part on top) and that's been enough furniture for a little boy.

BTW, what brand is the crib? I don't think I have seen a gray one before. If we ever move before baby is out of the crib we will need a second one and I wanted white (I have a full set of white wicker furniture at my parents that I would pair it with). DH does not want a white or black crib, but a pale gray sounds like a good compromise!

  21. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@MrsTiz: The snoogle is surprising thin, so I find that it takes up less room in the bed than the regular pillows I was using. But maybe I need to try what you suggested with some smaller pillows.

@Ash: LOVE the crib! Ours is all white too, it's fabulous. Oops, ignore that, I just read that it's a light grey. I love that too--grey is my favorite!!!

@Mrs. J: I've been on the search for a pouf (heheheh, pouf) to use as an ottoman. Let me know if you find any good deals!

@sweetooth: I have a Snoogle and love it. I'll start out on my left side, usually switch to my right, then somehow end up on my back throughout the night. Honestly, I personally don't think it's the end of the world if you end up on your back--your body will wake you up long before something happened--worst case.

Weekend went well, baby girl is moving allllll over the place these last few days! It's been nuts! We finally got the blinds/curtains up in the nursery (due to a few curtain rod ordering mishaps on my end), so that was good. I also took my first trip to Carter's, which went alright. The store was 40% off but things were still so expensive!

Question, do you guys know if Carter's runs big/small? They go from NB to 3 month, and the 3 month look huge!

  23. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@ms.janedoe: It depends on what type of Carter's items you are looking at. I always found that the set that came with a onesie (say jacket, onesie, pants or sleeper, onesie, pants etc) always ran longer, leaner and the fabric was slightly thinner overall than the ones that came as a set of just onesies or onesies purchased individually. These seemed to run shorter, wider and a thicker material. I'm not sure about the ones that come with dresses since I was shopping in the little man section before Anyway for us the longer/leaner ones fit in-between sizes and the others were more true to size. We also had a puffy cloth diapered bum to cover so there is that to deal with too (you may have to size up in pants etc to cover the CD at times).

@sweetooth: We're getting a Poang too! I'm not a fan of how regular gliders look and I can't afford the nice-looking ones.

  25. Turd Ferguson

    pomegranate / 3160 posts

@MrsDragon: @sweetooth: I totally made a trip awhile back to Ikea JUST to test out the Poang to see if it would work as a good nursing chair. Had I not found the glider I did, I think we totally would have gone for it, but just a few things I (personally noticed):

It's kind of tough to get up and out of--you almost have to hoist yourself up because it's far back and down. I'm also shorter (5'4") and have no abs, so that might affect it. We talked about just getting a cushion that would add a little height/back and I think that'd help a ton.

The arms seemed kind of low, but then I stupidly wasn't thinking that if you use a Boppy or something, it should make up for some of the height. You could also probably get arm cushions for it (made) or something that would give you a little extra height.

DH loved it and it worked great for him, so I think we're still thinking about maybe getting one for our living room!

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@ms.janedoe: I'm sure you're right on the whole back sleeping thing. Maybe I should just continue to sleep how I'm most comfortable and not worry so much. // I'm not sure on the Carter's sizing, but just keep the tags on the newborn stuff and that way if your baby doesn't fit into them you can return them.

@MrsDragon: yay! Another Poang club member! I hear ya on the regular gliders. I just can't stand how they look!

@ms.janedoe: We also went to IKEA to test out the Poang, and the rocker version. The rocker definitely felt like it required more work to stand up from with a baby in your arms. But the regular chair wasn't as bad for us. And we really liked the overall height of the chair back so our heads were resting comfortably. I was concerned about the comfort of the wooden arms, still am. But like you said, I think we can figure something out to help with that. It may not be as beautiful as an upholstered chair, but the cost savings on this will allow me to splurge in other areas And I still wonder if I really need the chair to move (bounce/rock)? I may have another comfy chair in nursery if I can fit it.

@ms.janedoe: @sweetooth: Agreed about the sleep position said. From what I've read and my doctor told me, you'll feel it when your body is telling you no more back sleeping. Dizziness, etc. Personally, I've slept on my back until the very end of all my pregnancies and that was the only way I could sleep because my pelvis really starts to ache with side lying, no matter how many pillows I have between my knees. Of course, the stack of pillows behind my head/upper back gets higher and higher as the weeks go on, so maybe I'm actually sleeping reclined instead of flat on my back, lol.

We set up the crib last night! Still waiting on the changing table to be delivered. I told DH he should ask his best friend to come help us, but he said we could do it. Omg he couldn't get these 4 holes and screws to work right and it took like 30 minutes for each corner of the crib. I thought it was hilarious and couldn't stop laughing. DH didn't appreciate it haha.

@lilteacherbee: Oh i've never seen that shape before - I LOVE ITTTTTT. Is that a bumper or part of the mattress? (it's blurry on my computer) You're doing the skip hop bedding, right? I saw it this weekend at BRU and thought of you!

@sweetooth: Ooh, afterthought question. Are you getting the ottoman to go with it? I think I might go buy it to use with my glider...

@ms.janedoe: check Target and Wal-mart for poufs! I have a tan one I got from Target that I love. I saw some more cube-style ones at Wal-mart this weekend that totally don't look like Wal-mart quality stuff.

@sweetooth: I think a lot of it is personal preference, but with DS we never used our glider! Or other chairs for that matter. We nursed laying down.

@lilteacherbee: Cute crib! I always love seeing all the different crib shapes out there. Are you doing an alphabet theme? How fitting as teachers!?!

  35. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@anbanan15: I hear ya on the personal preference. I've heard both sides from good friends and family. I used mine, I didn't, I loved mine, I never missed having one...it made me weary of spending so much money on a piece of furniture that I wasn't 100% that I would even need. If money grew on trees though, I would have splurged on this: http://www.montedesign.net/grano.html

I sat in the Poang last time we were at ikea and the height of it seems ok to me (I'm 5'11") but yeah, I think I'll need a pillow over the arms. I liked the non-rocker version better too!

@sweetooth: ohh that looks like a dream it sit in! I'm so glad our Dutailier was free. I would have been so upset if we spent the money on it, but so many people insisted we needed a rocker/glider!

@sweetooth: Thanks - can't wait to set it up!!!
I have the snoogle... I've had it for probably a month now and at first, I had the same problems as you. I even fell out of bed once (or twice, ahem) trying to get untangled. But then I put the "back" side towards dh instead of the side of the bed and it's made a world of a difference. Although, I still wake up on my back. I fall asleep so comfy though!! (Oh, and p.s.,, I love your pouf!)

@anbanan15: Thanks!! We only bought the crib - it was more than we wanted to spend but once we used a gift card and a 20% off coupon, the out of pocket wasn't too bad. I am on the hunt for a dresser I can refurb to make into a changing table. The brand is bonavita: http://www.bonavita.com/products/collections/product-collection/sawyer-collection.html It's very high quality!!!

@ms.janedoe: Thanks! I found adorable poufs on amazon for inspiration because they're expensive (http://www.amazon.com/Ottoman-Floor-Pillow-White-Elephant/dp/B00BAXSH74/ref=sr_1_6?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1375191446&sr=1-6&keywords=pouf) We stopped at the Carter's outlet store over the weekend (40% off plus I had a 20% off coupon). We got quite a few things for about 70 bucks. I'm obsessed with a little sherpa one piece pram! I let dh pick a boy outfit and I picked a girl outfit... so.freaking.adorable!! I don't know about sizing but the 3 months stuff did seem kind of big.

    @lilteacherbee: cute crib!

Phew, I think I'm all caught up!!

  39. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: That's basically what happened with us and why we only ended up getting the combo piece to match. The crib was way more expensive than I had ever expected spending on a crib, but DH used to work for a baby furniture store and had high standards on quality. Your crib actually reminds me of ours.

Good luck on finding something to refurbish! I bet a chalk paint finish would look amazing next to that crib!

Ok, so I'm trying to figure out when to fly my SIL out for the weeks she's going to be here helping out. At first I thought on or right around my EDD would be fine, but now I'm thinking it through and slightly freaking out. My last birth happened at 39 weeks 5 days- and I prefer not to be making the 200-mile trip to the airport and back the day or so after giving birth. I'd really like here to take care of the kids when I'm in labor. However, my first birth happened at 41+ weeks- and he was *really* a week overdue (a lot of babies born at 41 weeks aren't really overdue), so I could have been 43 weeks for all we know (my EDD was way off and only discovered too late in the game to give me an accurate one. I had a bunch of NSTs and BFPs that he always aced, so he was never in any danger, we just don't know what week of gestation he was. Anyways, rabbit trail...). Anyways, so you can see my dilemma. With my luck, SIL will get out here and then we'll sit and wait as I go to 42 weeks. And then she'll *only* be here for 2-3 weeks PP. I know, real tough, but the whole point if having her out here is so I can have a month or so to give establishing a milk supply all I've got without having to stress about feeding other people or cleaning up after other people.
