@ms.janedoe: Exactly!! I really wasn't impressed either, but I sort of liked the mystery box concept. They are cheaper than the monthly (and include shipping) plus depending on what the mystery box being offered is for you are guaranteed a certain brand and not just "filler" stuff that is meh.

I just googled the pieces I got and my $15 package is worth ~$125! I still don't think this will be a regular thing I would do though. They also have a FB b/s/t page that no single piece is more than $9 and they have to be b/s/t in NWT/NWOT condition.

@Mrs. J: I work until 7 tonight and then have an hour plus drive home... I thought about making one but all I have here is printer paper and crayons.

Are any of you ladies interested in baby legwarmers, muslin blankets, socks, hair clips/bows/headbands for a really really good price? Both boy, girl, and GN items. I'm in a group on FB doing a buy and would be happy to pass the info on to anyone interested. Just let me know and I will wall you in the info.

@anbanan15: So, I looked at the u/s pictures because my mom has been begging us to scan them and send them to her. I saw the pic my coworker was talking about but I didn't know what it meant.... and then I saw another pic in which I swear I saw boy parts. I'm not 100% sure what's going on down in the world of the "goods" buuuuut I'm a little sad she gave me these pics knowing we're team green.

  15. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: oh no!!! Like full on legs spread type of pic?!? We didn't even get pics of the "goods" area for either child from our hospital! Well maybe it was the umbilical cord? That is what I kept telling myself during the u/s with DS because I had an untrained eye. I'm so sorry and that is such a bummer knowing you were team green! If you highly suspect one gender over the other maybe you should just get it confirmed and embrace that your sweet surprise was unfortunately spoiled? No sense in torturing yourself any longer now. I'm frustrated for you!

  16. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: Yes... full on legs spread pic... but it's from the back (it's like, a little butthole pic which is weird). I think she just started clicking on pics to print and what they were titled - this one was "long bone" of the leg. DH doesn't see what I saw. Either that, or he's in denial he sees it. It's like a shadow between the legs. My mom says girl (and she was the one saying "boy" this whole time). We'll stay team green since nobody is on board with what I see... and ultrasounds really are a mystery to me so it will still be a surprise. But I told DH and my mom that I don't wanna talk about it anymore cuz I feel disappointed that I saw something I didn't wanna see until November. *sigh*

ETA: Oh, and DH said she said "he" during the u/s too... but we just assumed she always does like our 21 week tech said.

  17. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: Awww I get what you are saying! Maybe it is a shadow?! U/s are often a mystery to me too You are awesome for staying team green strong! Not sure I could do it with that bug in the back of my mind. Okay done talking about it for you

  18. Ash

@anbanan15: Hahahahaha! I am thinking I might pick up some boy clothes though

    @Mrs. J: How'd the pouf come along??

  20. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@Ash: it is still coming! Hopefully I will get it done today.

When we had our u/s DH was convinced he saw the goods, but I told him it could be a big toe. He keeps telling everyone that he thinks it is a boy and always calls the baby he. I am going to laugh if it if a girl! We think it could be boy because of our timing, but who knows. I did the ring test and it said boy both times. I an just so ready and petrified for our baby to get here!

  21. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Mrs. J: I can't wait to see the results and hear about easy it was. I might be investing in a sewing machine just so I can make one. And other baby stuff!

LOL @ your DH. My DH is in total denial about seeing anything. But I know something is there - just not sure what! We did the ring test a few years ago and both DH and I got 6 kids (eek!) and the first 2 were girls (don't know if that includes the baby we m/c or not). Chinese predictor chart says girl too... So who knows! I feel like it should be November already!!! But... I have so much to do so I'm okay with waiting a little longer!!

  22. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@Ash: I did not know it could tell you how many kids...how does that bit work?

  23. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Mrs. J: After each spin/whatever you want to call it, it kind of pauses and goes onto another. So if it's 2 boys, it should sway side to side, pause a second and then sway again. And when it's completely done, it just stops.

ETA: I did it before getting pregnant, so it might not work this way if you are. I'm not sure.

  24. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@Ash: What a bummer! I say just try to get those images out of your mind. I'm sure there's plenty of baby prep stuff to keep your mind busy. I also think that if there's ANY question about what you're seeing - shadow? bump? cord? who knows! - then you can still live in the land of green and embrace your surprise in November if that's your preference.

  25. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@Mrs. J: So cool that you're making your own poof! You'll definitely have to post pictures! That one on Young House Love is super cute.

  26. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@sweetooth: that's my plan!! I am sure we will still be surprised... my disappointment just stems from the fact that the tech actually gave me these photos. But it's all good! It really still is a mystery!

  27. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@Ash: Maybe it's just the umbilical cord? Or another body part in the way? Baby boy parts are pretty teeny at this stage.

  28. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsCB: Well, what I saw wasn't super huge buuuut I'm still saying it's a mystery!!

@Ash: aww I'm sorry, that totally sucks! I knew I couldn't do team green because I have absolutely no self control, but you've been so good at it try not to think about it!

  30. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@Ash: Hey, you really never know. I thought I saw "Girl" in the email telling us the gender. Turns out it was "BOY!" The 1 second glance I had before I closed it, I thought the exclamation was an L, lol.

So we got most of our nursery furniture over the weekend :). We did SO much work in there, getting things put together and organized. I've also been doing countless loads of baby laundry - blankets, sheets, towels, and all newborn and 0-3 clothes. Here's some pics, but it's not decorated yet, we still have shelves to go up and pictures and decals to buy. Oh, and the last one looks funky because it's a panorama DH took.

  31. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@lilteacherbee: I'm almost more excited because now I wanna know if I'm right! LOL! But I do wish I wouldn't have been given these pics. Hahaha!

@MrsCB: Your nursery looks amazing! You're really on the ball. Ours still has my treadmill in it and it's still being used as baby stuff storage. *sigh* I am such a procrastinator!!
And lol @ "girl"... I'm taking what I saw with a grain of salt and refusing to look at the pics again.

@Ash: Dude, you're kickass for staying so strong on Team Green! I'd be dyyyying! I agree that you just nevvver know with these babies! I think both "gender predictor" charts (or whatever) said I was having a boy, and she's a girl! Hell, there's always a 50/50 chance, right?!

@MrsCB: Ooooh!! I love it! It looks awesome! Isn't it SUCH a good feeling to get things...settled?

@Mrs. J: I'm totally going to need to see pictures of this pouf upon completion! You're a beast. I could never tackle that kind of project!

Things are going well here, we got a bunch of stuff hung in the nursery last night, so that was good. I'm in the process of dying/washing our burp cloths (a crap-load of Gerber prefolds) so we don't get 'em mixed up with the real cloth diapers/wipes--I'm hoping I don't end up with red/pink clothes for the rest of my life as a result (as the dye is STILL running...). I've been getting bigger, which is fun, but starting to get in the way! Getting up is suuuper difficult, and I've been waking up pretty sore/uncomfortable as well.

@ms.janedoe: "Getting up is suuuper difficult, and I've been waking up pretty sore/uncomfortable as well. "

    SAME.HERE.

I am miserable already, I hate to think of what it will be like when i'm 30+ weeks! I make grunts/moans every time I get up off the couch or out of bed and I don't even care anymore. I am huge and my body feels it! I am procrastinating right now because i'm supposed to go file some papers in my bosses office and I am cringing at the thought of bending over to get to the bottom files and having to get back up. Pregnancy and my body do not go well together..I never hit the "it's second trimester and I feel wonderful!" stage. Uhg. 13 more weeks, 13 more weeks. I can do it lol!

  35. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@ms.janedoe: You're right! I'm just thinking I need to be a little more prepared for a boy (like clothes and names, for example)... since I've thought girl all along!!
Aaaaaaaaaand, I'm with you on struggling to move. I get around pretty well... I was on the floor at work the other day and my patient's mom was like, "you get around great for being pregnant!" But who else was gonna do it? My hardest time is when I'm in bed or on the couch. My abs are no longer around and I can't use my belly to pull myself up so I just rotch around and moan lol! And getting out of bed sucks!

You guys - I really feel like a slacker. I haven't emptied out the nursery. I haven't washed a darn thing. I still have a ton of stuff to buy (at least it feels like it!). Our crib is still at the store. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

@Ash: That stinks! But honestly it could be anything or even a shadow. In one of our pics baby girl looks like she's holding a phone to her little head and obviously she's not! Don't stress!

@Ash: I feel like a slacker too! I did paint the nursery, but it still needs to have trim/edging finished by DH. And my dad is going to put up white beadboard in a couple weeks....but I feel like we are way behind the curve timing wise.

Also found out that the dresser we ordered is going to take the full 12 weeks to come in, unlike the "few weeks" like they told us when we bought it. And all three pieces (crib, dresser, and hutch) are being delivered at the same time, even though the crib and hutch are just chillin in the warehouse. So I have no place to even put away the clothes if I washed them. I really wanted to have the nursery setup for the shower and now that's not gonna happen since everything won't be delivered until the end of Sept!
