@Ash: I'm kind of all over the place, but I think my original goal was 30-36, so the potential to do laundry every 3 days. I have 22 fitted diapers (GMD, Swaddlebees, Thirsties, Bamboozles) that go either 5-18lbs or 6-10lbs and 9 inserts (2 Flip 1 size, 7 thirsties sz1/6-15lbs). And then I bought 12 of the small GMD prefolds, mostly meant to be burp cloths and coverings so we don't get open air pee accidents, but if I'm feeling lazy I'll pad fold them.

I've been debating buying more fitteds but I can't decide which ones. One one hand it's probably most essential during the newborn period to have fitteds for the leak protection. On the other hand, they only fit for so long and I'm not sure if it's silly to buy more when we'll have to replenish the stash with bigger sizes.

@Ash: after the fitteds, we are moving to the bum genius 4.0s and freetimes. for the newborn ones, we have kissaluvs and bummies/thirsties covers.

@MrsCB: You're like... the CD queen!!! Hahahaha! You rock, lady! Do I need inserts?

@Mrs. J: I am gonna get kissaluv fitteds and GMD workhorse fitteds and prefolds with thirsties covers. I have BG 4.0s for later. I haven't decided on an AIO for after.

@Ash: Haha, I still feel like I don't have enough! You don't need inserts, they're just another type of diaper. It's like if you took a prefold and tri-folded/pad-folded it and laid it in the diaper. I just like the idea because I'm lazy, lol. I'm actually wondering if they're a really bad idea for the newborn days because they won't contain poo like a fitted. These are the Thirsties ones I have - http://www.thirstiesbaby.com/products/cloth-diapers/stay-dry-duo-insert/.

@anbanan15: soooo pretty!!!! I love the letters!

@Mrs. J: I love the pouf!! Serious skills mama!

@sweetooth: No babymoon here DH is trying to save his days once school starts so he'll have as much paid leave as possible.

Found out that we both go back on the 19th for teacher workdays and then school starts the next week! Usually I don't even wanna think about it, but this year I'm super excited because it means November is close! I saw on one of my apps that I've got 102 days until the due date! Ahhhhhh!

@Ash: We are doing pockets right away I think. We have 6 CB's that go to 10 lbs and I have 8 (I think) RaR's from DS that start at 6 lbs. We actually never got to use them on the NB setting for DS because we waiting to switch to cloth after the umbilical cord fell off (he was 3 weeks old when that finally happened). I am also hoping to add a few more Ragababes to our stash because I love them so much and we don't have any NB/smalls in them so that would be a great add.

Duuuuuudes, sloooow dowwwwwn!!! I can't keep up!!! Way too much happened over the past 24 hours and I'm behind (what else is new!?)!

    @Mrs. J: Your pouf looked very pouf-like. I'd call it a success!!!

@anbanan15: I like your letter! I wanted to do something like it but we aren't 100% on a name yet!

@sweetooth: I don't think we have too much else planned for a babymoon. We got married at the end of October last year and went to Cabo right after, then did Hawaii in January/February, then did a trip to D.C. a few months back. We both also traveled for work a bunch in-between. DH is heading to BeerFest in Colorado for a bachelor party in October, and I think we'll do a mini weekend trip in Wisconsin (where I went to college) when we head that way for a mini-maternity session.

@Ash: I think right now I have 24 GMD newborns, 12 smalls, and 6 Thirsties Duo Wrap covers. Then we have BG 4.0s for after the teeny newborn phase--a lot of them. I maybe went a little crazy buying one of every.single.color when we first found out I was pregnant. I'm kind of terrified though that we'll end up loving the GMDs and be stuck with like, 30-some BGs... I want to get a few Workhorse ones, but otherwise I think we're probably good with what we have.

ETA: I also threw a box of newborn and size 1 disposables on the registry--I figure it can't hurt to have a few on-hand the first few weeks!

OK, hold on, I'm going to go back and re-read the last few pages of this thread to see what I missed...

Thanks for all the letter comments! We did similar ones with DS's name, but used fabric that matches the nursery bedding. I wanted something a little more girly since most of the space will be staying the same.

@ms.janedoe: BG's are such a hot ticket item you won't have trouble reselling them if you decide to stick with GMD!

@Ash: Yeah, I've done NOTHING in the "preparing for birth" camp... I went on a hospital tour with my mom (DH was traveling for work), which was fine--it was all of like, 15 minutes long. But we have no plans to do birth classes, I haven't read any books or "birth stories," I"m just kind of...meh about the whole thing.

I guess for me I just really haven't given much thought to it, I mean, I figure one way or another they'll get the baby out; in a matter of what, maybe 48 hours tops the baby will be born one way or another. It's the part that happens after that I'm worried/nervous/terrified about!!! Like, the whole, "OK, here you go, head on home with your brand new miniature person you're solely responsible for!!!" Hahaha. As long as baby girl is healthy, and I'm in functioning shape, I figure it'll be a success. I mean, yes, I'd ideally like to have an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, preferably without too many interventions, but again, at the end of the day, I realize I'm not the one in control!

I am impressed with so many of you guys doing cloth diapers! I considered it briefly, but DH was not a fan of the idea and that wasn't a battle worth fighting...

We aren't doing a babymoon, but we are taking our annual cabin weekend trip with another couple this Labor Day. We usually do it the last weekend of Sept, but I didn't think being in the wilderness at 35 weeks would be a good decision.

Our birth class is this Saturday. It is an all day class taught by one of the nurses from my midwife practice. She is supposed to cover birth, newborn care, and breastfeeding all in 7 hours. I just got the email with instructions last night and on the list of supplies is an exercise ball...so this should be interesting. The class is only for people from my midwife practice and focused on a natural birth.....I haven't ruled out getting an epidural, but at least this way I will be prepared if I am able to forgo pain meds...

I will be interested to hear how everyone else's classes go!

@NeekieRose: speaking of excersize ball.. does anyone have one, if so..what are you using it for pregnancy related? I remember reading a while back about all these ladies who had them but now I don't remember why??

  15. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@MrsTiz: I'll be sure to update after my class about what we are supposed to use it for. I think she is going to show us how to use it during labor, but maybe for some pre-labor stuff too?

  16. Turd Ferguson

    pomegranate / 3160 posts

@MrsTiz: I've been meaning to get one to sit on at home/work 'cause my back has been killing me. I've heard in labor to bounce on 'em, and then once baby is here, they're good for bouncin' on to calm/quiet babies down.

  17. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: they're good for opening up your pelvis by bouncing and rolling on it. Probably more benefits too - I have one and a friend recommended bouncing on it every night to help with labor.

  18. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@ms.janedoe: I wish I could use one at work, I sit right in front of the door and have really judgmental co-workers so i'd never get any peace if I used one!

I might look into one for home though.

We kind of did a babymoon already. We went away for our anniversary and that trip was supposed to do double duty. I'd really LOVE to go back to where we honeymooned in Barbados, but we decided to save DH's vacation time for after I have the baby.

I have an exercise ball at home, but I wasn't really sure what the benefits were, lol.

As for classes, we've signed up for a ton of them. I think we have a birth class, a breastfeeding class, an infant CPR class, and an infant care class. TBH, I'm not sure how much I'll get out of all of them, but DH really wanted to do them. And I think it's good for him to learn what to expect in terms of labor, and for baby care and breastfeeding too.

@MrsTiz: Baahaha, I know, right? I work with basically all dudes and I don't think I'd ever hear the end of it...plus, I'd feel a little like Dwight from that episode of The Office (awful video, whatever):

@ms.janedoe: Oooooo! Very helpful! I agree with having some sposies on hand - especially having so many holiday functions close-by.
You're funny not doing any classes. I would totally recommend taking a child birth class. You and dh will learn so much.

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@ms.janedoe: I felt/feel the same way. With DS everyone insisted we needed to do a birthing class and honestly neither of us found it beneficial or helpful. I had hoped it went over some breathing/birthing techniques and pain coping mechanisms, but that part of the class was, I swear, all of 15 minuets...I thought that was the most important part?! The spent most of the time doing ice breakers and such. Same thing with the breastfeeding class I took. It was all info I already knew. I sort of lost interest in preparing for birth and feel the same way about it this time. It is just like you said, one way or another birth is going to happen and you just have to go with it...let nature do it's thing. I mean, people have been giving birth for decades, long before books, the Internet and birthing class were available to prepare with

We are going to do Bradley Method classes, a breast feeding class, a hospital tour, and a taking care of newborn class. DH really wanted to do that one!

I'm sorry I haven't been around! Moving is insane. We have to paint pretty much everything. And it turns out we need to drywall the entire nursery, which is somewhat horrifying but at least it will be all fresh and new when we move her in.

This weekend we have prenatal class (Friday night and Saturday morning) and then next weekend we're travelling out to Winnipeg to go to IKEA and buy baby furniture (and other furniture...). I'm scared of how broke we're going to be, to be honest, and I'm looking forward to it being done.

Anyone else having pain on their tailbone region after sitting for awhile?

I just sat in the most uncomfortable chairs for 5.5 hours! The only other person that seemed bothered by them was the only other expecting mama. Ouch it hurt to stand!

@anbanan15: MEE! I sit down at work all day and have to get up and walk around so my butt doesn't hurt lol

Someone just bought stuff off my registry, woohoo! Totally stalking it already lol

@MrsTiz: Glad I'm not the only one. Thinking I may need to bring a butt cushion to class...awkward.

Yay!! Registry stalking was my favorite past time Even if we were the ones buying the things off the registry ourselves, I still liked to see them marked off haha

@MrsTiz: You look so cute on the "show your bump" thread but I hafta know... where is your striped shirt from? I love it!

  30. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: The off white one with red stripes? It's from Forever 21 Seriously, best place to find cheap non-maternity shirts that still work for pregnancy.

@anbanan15: I can't stop checking it, even though I know 99% of people haven't even looked at them yet lol. The woman who bought this stuff really surprised me, I invited her because she overheard my mom and I talking about it, so I didn't think she'd come..but she's coming, went shopping early, looked at my registry and then marked off what she bought - dream baby shower guest haha. She got the bouncing swing we wanted, a bottle brush, pacifier clips and a newborn insert for our carseat. Strange, but generous combo! I'm getting really excited now!

@anbanan15: Yup, not constant but occasionally I get shooting pain in my tailbone. I hope it continues as only occasional pain...

@Mrs. J: Good luck on your test!

@MrsTiz: Totally stalking the registry! Random relative of DH bought something the other day, random first shower gift!

  36. Turd Ferguson

    @Mrs. J: Good luck, lady!

@MrsTiz: I basically just have my registries up all day and refresh them constantly. I have a problem. Hahahaha.

  37. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@ms.janedoe: lol! My family is the type to not even look at it, if they do..they don't buy off of it and if for some reason they actually buy something, they don't mark it off..so I check both of them once every other dayish..ask me again once it's closer though haha

  38. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

haha I look at my registries, but no one has bought anything yet because my shower invites aren't out yet.

Ugh, that glucose drink was the pits! It was like orange, thick syrup!

@Mrs. J: Same! My invites haven't been sent out yet, but I still check..."just in case!" Haha

When do you find out your results?

@lilteacherbee: Not sure...they do the labs elsewhere, but I go to the midwife on Tuesday, so maybe then?
