@ms.janedoe: @MrsTiz: I am having a hard time getting up too!! Especially if I am on the floor to do something or getting out of bed. It's kind of comical actually.

@Ash: We haven't done too much either...nursery is painted and we have bought lots of clothes and various nursery items. Recliner can take up to another 3 weeks and furniture up to another 5...why does baby furniture take so long to come in?! My shower is in 5 weeks and I'm just praying the furniture comes before then so I can go into operation organize baby items after the shower!

@NeekieRose: why can't they deliver the other two pieces separately? I would raise Hell up there to get it home!

  3. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@MrsTiz: We would have to pay a separate delivery charge and we don't want to do that, especially since we don't *need* them right now. And even though the sales lady told us "Oh, this is an item we like to keep in stock so it should only take a few weeks, the official time frame is 8-12 weeks."

So I can't really throw a fit... but I mean really, why does it take 12 weeks to get a dresser in?

    @Ash: @ms.janedoe: @Cara M. 17: @NeekieRose: Thanks guys! It's funny, I feel like it looks so bare.

@ms.janedoe: Yes, it feel SO good to have things more settled.

@Ash: Don't feel bad! For one thing, DH and I are notorious planners. And also, we HAD to get stuff moving. We changed bedrooms and the guest room was so full of baby stuff that you couldn't walk into it any more. We have three rooms in our house we're using as bedrooms now - Loft, master, and guest room. All 3 rooms had tons of stuff in them.

We moved from the master to the loft, but had to clean out the loft first and install closets. Then we had to move all our master bedroom stuff. We had moved tons of things from the loft to the guest room (making it even worse), and had to move all the baby stuff out to master. You can now finally walk in the guest room, though the bed is covered in stuff still that needs to go into the closet where a thousand baby things just came out of.

There's no way I could've waited until later to do all this. It was tough enough at 23 weeks and change. And we kept accumulating more baby stuff that had absolutely no where to go. It was making me crazy.

@Cara M. 17: Ha! I just wrote the same thing about why does it take so long for furniture to come in?!

@NeekieRose: Yeah I don't get that..it's baby stuff, so they're saying that the average wait time is 1/3 of a pregnancy? God forbid someone doesn't make a crib decision the day they get pregnant!

I feel even more behind in baby prep then where everyone else seems to be. Up until this weekend we pretty much had nothing. Now we have a good clothing stash to start things off and a bookcase/storage unit to organize everything.
We live in an open loft so there is no separate nursery to decorate. We'll be putting the crib in our room, but since space is tight I don't want to purchase & assemble it for at least another 1.5 months.
I love seeing all of the nursery & decor pics from everyone else. It's getting me excited for when we move to a bigger place and can decorate the little dudes toddler room!

@Cara M. 17: Ours isn't even painted - I told DH tonight we gotta get it going because we have sooooooo much going on (adding onto our house [that we JUST built lol], putting out garage up [so baby won't be out in the Iowa chill], and then comes harvest season which is a whole nother story. So.much.to.do. Ahhhhhhhhh!

@MrsCB: I just put all of our stuff into the baby room and shut the door so then it's out of sight out of mind!

@NeekieRose: Glad I'm not alone. I feel like I still have plenty of time when in reality, I'm not sure I do!

@MrsCastro: I'm into fruit too! It's a good thing to love! Yum!

    @MrsCB: Nursery looks great!

@Ash: You have plenty of time With DS we didn't get the nursery together until I was 39 weeks because we moved when I was 38 weeks. I was SOOO nervous he would come early but the little bugger was 9 days late.

We haven't even done anything for this one yet. I haven't washed anything either. I'm still slightly in denial it's actually a girl (shhh I never said that out loud before) so I'm waiting until my next u/s at 30 weeks to confirm before adding girly touches to the nursery

@anbanan15: I agree - we have a lot of time... buuuuuuut I'll need DH's help for a lot of it and he will be busy for a while coming up.

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: Nope! My mom is 3 hours away. She's all up for helping... but our schedules don't always mash well. I'm gonna get DH to crank some stuff out within the next couple of weeks. Then I'll feel a little better!

@MrsCB: it looks great! I love seeing the Eli bedding in action
@MrsCastro: that looks amazing...will she make me some? Lol
@Ash: we haven't done anything either...I just cleaned the room out because my dad is coming this week to paint, but that's it!

Ok, here is my diy pouf! Not perfect, but it'll do...plus, I spent less than 50 on it. That's a win to me!

You can't really see it in the photo, but the fabric is striped.

@Mrs. J: Super cute! Looks comfy! Did you test it out yet?

I want to make DS a floor pillow for a reading nook, but haven't gotten around to it yet. You might have inspired me to get my bum in gear for that and my many other DIY projects...I've had the supplies for the cushion since the holidays! Yikes!

Here is a picture of one of the letters I covered for our November baby (her name does not start with an "R" in case anyone is wondering). I need to rearrange DS's name so I can hang her's on the wall as well with it since they will be sharing the nursery initially...again DS only uses it as a play room (eww terrible iphone pic coloring!)

@Mrs. J: While at work yesterday (I was in OB), they were doing a tour for a couple due around the same time as us... and I suddenly felt so behind. We won't be doing a hospital tour and really don't need to do any birthing classes since I've worked as a labor nurse but I would like dh (I'll be there too, of course) to attend a quick 4 hour class where I work to get a feel for what will be going on. I just feel so behind. I still need to PAINT... And I need to PICK THE PAINT! I need to pick out some newborn cloth diapers too. Oy! P.S. the pouf!!!!!!!

@anbanan15: Can't wait to see the finished product. Looks GREAT!

I know we are probably all set for maternity clothing, but I just stumbled on this blog about turning different types of regular clothing into maternity! Some of it looks so awesome and had to share: http://diymaternity.com/index/

@anbanan15: I'm not all set. I only have summer stuff. I'm gonna need some cooler weather clothing (and I'm in dire need of scrubs)! So I'll take a look. Thanks!

@Cara M. 17: I didn't feel behind until I heard what everyone else has done. Haha! It still seems so far away!!! But then I do the math and realize it's not. I feel like I just got my bfp!!

@Ash: That is true. I mostly have summer stuff too Plenty of time! Don't worry! It will all get done in time and you will just be waiting to add baby.

@Ash: I'm right there with you! We do have the room painted, but I have lots to do to get it ready and lots of things to purchase. I'm in the same boat with you - sounds like you're already working through house renovations, and we're trying to fit one more renovation in before the baby. So my focus has been there, with the baby research coming in a close second. It will all come together though, just like everyone is saying. Making lists is helping me slowly chip away at it though.

@anbanan15: I'm definitely going to need some cooler weather maternity clothes. But I'm holding off on buying them until it actually gets cooler. Thanks for sharing this link! Maybe I can get my mom to DIY some clothes for me (even though I know that's not "doing it yourself"!!)

Are any of you planning babymoons or small weekend getaways before the baby arrives? I had hoped to squeeze in one more little New York City weekend trip, but when I started looking at hotel costs and train tickets I just thought to myself, we still have so much to get for the baby - maybe a trip to NYC will have to wait. I feel like we had our babymoon back at 6 weeks, so it looks like I'm just going to be staying put. And hopefully renovating my master bathroom

  33. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@sweetooth: Same! Problem is, I just keep adding to the list! Hahahaha! DH is just really busy which is why I'm getting slightly nervous. It's funny to think we're adding on when we just built our house 3 years ago - but part of it is the garage and baby is definitely the main component to getting it done! At least I know we're in the same boat! =)

  34. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@sweetooth: No babymoon here. I was determined to go but then got into the same predicament as you - I can't see spending the money when we have so much to buy and then I'm thinking ahead that a few weeks of my maternity leave will be unpaid but the bills will still be there. I'm trying to be a responsible adult here - wah!

@sweetooth: Mom doing it totally equals DIY

We were talking about taking DS for the beach or something in Septemer, but since I will be in school and rather pregnant, we can only do Thursday evening-Sunday at the longest and not too far away. DH scheduled a lot of vacation time in September, so we should do something. His co-worker is getting married end of Sept/Oct (not sure exact date) and took off basically the entire month of October and last week of September...DH has to work 13 hour days straight the entire time the kid is off!

ETA: By doing something, I mean we will probably do nothing and just talk about going.

How many prefolds/fitteds are you girls stashing in newborn size?

@Ash: I have had several of those moments lately - where I realize, oh yeah, this is the time in life to be a more responsible adult. But WAH indeed

@anbanan15: I love your little ETA Even a little long weekend getaway to the beach would be so nice! That's crazy about your husband's work days due to his coworker!

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@Ash: I bought 24 fitteds and 6 covers per the advice of my friend whose baby is now 6 months old.

I would love to do a little trip, but I don't know if it is in the cards. Once school starts, I need to save my sick days/ personal days for maternity leave!

@anbanan15: that R looks great! So pretty.

I definitely need cool weather maternity clothes!
