@MrsTiz: I did right after I posted Glad everything is okay for you! Sorry about the high bp but sounds like they are going to keep a good eye on it. I love my midwife too!!
My office just called me back and they are moving my appointment from next Thursday up to tomorrow to check positioning etc. If I wasn't feeling any movement I would have going to triage at the hospital now. I'm sure everything is okay here too and I'm not really that concerned. They most likely won't do an u/s because they don't have one in house, but maybe a NST? I'm seeing someone I've never seen before and I'm assuming she is a new midwife with the practice. It will be nice to see if I like her, but I my regular midwife and the one OB/GYN (there are 2. The one I like delivered DS).

@FarmWifeGina: Hope you start feeling better!! As for the book, gaaaaaaaaah, I still have to finish my hypnobirthing birth and ina may's guide to childbirth. I'm slacking!!
@MrsTiz: Yay for Jack being safe and sound in there! I was in the same boat as you guys a couple weeks ago so I totally understand the decreased movements. With as much as I'm on my feet, I go to the chiropractor every couple weeks... going today as a matter of fact! You'll feel so much better! I need a support band too - let me know what you come up with! Hope all goes well at next week's appt!!
@anbanan15: Let us know how today goes!! Silly babies scaring the crap out of their mamas!! Good luck today!!

@Ash: I'll let you know what I end up getting!
Where are you guys planning to have LO sleep as a newborn? I originally thought I would put him in a RnP, but my mom swears that if I let him sleep there he'll get a flat head, so she insists I need a bassinet..buut I saw this sidecar bed setup and I kindof love it, and DH could easily build it.. So i'm torn! I hate the look of all the bassinet we have in town, but I don't hate the idea? Hm.
coconut / 8472 posts
@MrsTiz: I really like the look of what you posted! I bought a rock n play to use as a bassinet. I like that it folds and has one end elevated, since most newborns have some degree of reflux. However, I chose the one I got based on looks, and I found out later it would've been better to get one of the snuga- ones, because they have more padding behind the head. I plan to put some extra receiving blankets in between the fabric and the plastic to make it less hard. We also have a head cushion thing that can be used in swings, bouncy seats, etc that I might use as long as his head position looks good in it.

@MrsTiz: I want something like that so bad, but I'm too cheap to buy it and Farmer Man won't have time to build it. I've always just had my babies in the PnP, but I think I'm going to look at Once Upon A Child for a newer one that has the bassinet insert- it won't really be a sidecar, but if I have it set up next to the bed, I shouldn't have to get out in the middle of the night, unlike having to get up and reach down into the regular PnP to get baby. I know, sounds lame, but it's the creaking middle of the night, if I can make nighttime nursing easier (DH wouldn't sleep a wink if we co-slept a newborn in our already squished full-size bed), I'm doing it.

@FarmWifeGina: ...pack n play. Why has that never occurred to me?! I registered for one so when I bring him to work he'll have a place to chill, I guess I could use it at home for him to sleep in for the first 6 weeks until I go to work.. great idea! How long would they stay in that for?
pear / 1787 posts
@MrsTiz: we got an Arms Reach Cosleeper for the first 6 months or so--same "sidecar" setup as the pic you posted. Found it for cheap on Craigslist!

Everything is fine. HR 156 and said positioning of the baby will make the movement feel different. Measuring right on and go back in 4 weeks.
She said my pain is part round ligament pain and some degree of PGP/SPD. They could send me to PT but that doesn't always help. The wrote a script for DH to give messages but he still won't do it. Said to get my mom to Errr. He so anti-pregnancy everything!
They are claiming I gained a massive amount of weight in 3 weeks and I'm totally not buying it! I don't see how/where and neither does DH. They said I'm not large, measuring large or swollen anywhere so not water weight. I also wear similar clothing/shoes to each appointment and schedule them for the same time of day. I still eat like I did pre-pregnancy, not more. They are also seemed a little stumped by it and weighed like 5 times. I still say it's way off because it's not even close to what my home scale said yesterday.

@MrsTiz: A few weeks for Deere Boy and about 6 months for Tractor Girl (because big brother was still in the crib).
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@MrsTiz: We used the PnP the first few weeks until we started co-sleeping. My mom also had one for her house. We just had one that had the bassinet on top so you didn't have to reach as far, but not all the other fancy add ons.

@MrsTiz: @anbanan15: So glad that you both were able to get such quick and comforting reassurance that your baby is a-ok.

@MrsTiz: It became even more of a mess when he realized he had to re-insulate! What a crazy experience.
We're looking at a cradle for baby's first few months... I don't love any of the bassinets I've seen and I don't really want to co-sleep. We have three cats and I'm a bit nervous about them + a swinging, rocking thing, but we'll see!

@anbanan15: Glad all is well!!
@MrsTiz: I'm using the Rock 'n Play for sure for nighttime sleep. I've heard nothing but fabulous things about em and I'm not scared off by the "flat head" talk, as pretty much anything you lay a baby in for an extended period of time has the ability to give them a flat head!
Had my shower yesterday, it went great! It was fun to be able to see everyone! Lots of good food, so that was a plus. We really didn't get much off of our registry. The majority of stuff we got was 3 month summer clothes, which, really don't do much good as she's obviously being born in November! Totally not a huge deal though, I just put through a massive Amazon order tonight, and I have a feeling I'll be ordering more in the next few weeks!
Still feeling pretty good, I'm definitely starting to get uncomfortable though. Sleeping is getting tough, I'm still up a bunch at night to pee, but now it's harder to get up and then get readjusted. My back is also still giving me some trouble, but I expected that! Otherwise though, it's been smooth sailing!!

@MrsDragon: that is my concern with the rNp, we have a big nosy dog who I worry will be exploring the baby while we sleep because the rNp is so low and our bed is so high up

@ms.janedoe: Awe, glad your shower was a success! Your bump photo is adorable!
Story time!
Just as I was getting ready to go to the bathroom, I was pulling down my skirt and I sneezed... and peed my pants. I could not stop laughing. Write me down as being the first out of our group for that one!

@Ash: umm, when I have a full bladder and sneeze, a tiny bit of urine squeaks out. This started at like week 20

@ChitownRo: I don't know why but I find it hilarious! The things that come along with having a baby have made me feel like less of a lady!

@Ash: Baaahahah. Congrats on being number 1!
Have any of y'all been doing anything...active? I've been trying to go for a 30-ish minute walk everyday, but I'm finding it harder and harder! I just kind of plod along and get out of breath super fast. Our forecast is putting temps in the mid 90's (heat index of 100's) for the rest of the week/weekend, so I'm not sure how much "outside time" I'll actually log... Hmm. I've also been trying to stretch more, as my back has been killing me, not sure if it's actually doing any good though.
persimmon / 1386 posts
@ms.janedoe: Ugh. I really need to be more active than I have been. We have been doing a decent amount of stuff around the house and I try to tell myself that counts.
I bought a prenatal yoga dvd that I have done exactly once. I really need to do that more since I think stretching will help with the lower back/tailbone pain I have been getting.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@ms.janedoe: Same, DH and I go on walks (roughly 30 min each) and we were really good about doing it everyday..until it got so damn hot. I didn't work out before, so i'm not going to start now. Honestly my back hurts so much i'm doubled over by the time we make it back to the house.

@Ash: Oh you weren't the first, just the first to share
I was talking to my boss the other day and I sneezed, and peed. It was so awkward I didn't know what to do. I just stopped talking and looked at her like O.O and then waddled to the bathroom ahahah

I'm kinda bummed today about my work/maternity leave situation. I've mentioned before that I'm a contract employee. Which means I make better pay, but I have no benefits. My boss has been wanting to make me permanent almost the whole time and I've been expecting it every month since June. Well, I found out today that they will be able to hire me as a permanent employee..... in January :-S.
I've been expecting since June to get flipped to permanent, and they keep getting put off for budgetary reasons. The last I heard before this, my boss seemed to think it would happen in September, since they'd no longer have to pay a fee to my agency. But now, they don't want to add to the head count for 2013.
So I thought I was going to get hired some time before November, which would have meant pretty much full paid leave for 12 weeks. Now due to the situation, I may only be able to take 8 weeks. My boss is going to try to get them to extend an offer as soon as possible, with the start date being 1/1/14. That would at least mean that I'll get paid starting from that day. But now I feel this weirdness, like I need to shorten my leave since they'd *sort of* being doing me a favor by starting me while I'm still on leave. Ugh, IDK what to do. My boss is awesome and encouraging me to work part time if I want, or partially from home. But I'm bummed at the loss of money (even though we will be fine financially) and the loss of time with DS.
I'm also thinking that if I have to go back at 8 weeks, we'll need to go the temporary nanny route because I don't want to put an 8 week old in daycare in January. And that adds a whole other level complication than just deciding on a daycare.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Ash: I've totally had that happen. Once, I was walking to the bathroom and almost made it when I sneezed. I jut kinda froze and DH said "did you pee yourself?!" Ahhhh horrible!
@MrsCB: Gah that sounds so complicated! I'm sorry, I don't have any advice. I'm only taking 7-8 weeks because we can't afford for me to be out much longer than that, but thankfully my mom will be watching him most of the time.
pear / 1787 posts
@ms.janedoe: I haven't been very active, and I feel terrible about it. I have a bad knee that has always made being active difficult to begin with, plus it's so flipping hot...ugh. I want to get a pregnancy yoga DVD like @NeekieRose mentioned. The stretching at least will help, I'm sure.
blogger / clementine / 985 posts
I'm also counting around the house stuff as being active -- given that I'm sweating my butt off painting, prepping and cleaning!
We bought all of our baby furniture at IKEA last weekend -- SIX FREAKING HOURS in the store. So insane. We also bought a new to us car, a 2012 Focus hatchback. Our old SUV was really not quite safe enough for baby. This is a lot smaller but I'm crossing my fingers we all fit.
I had my doctor's appointment today and it turns out that I'm B12 deficient so have to take supplements, and I *really* hope that helps with the dizziness/nausea I've been feeling. On the downside the doc can't find my glucose test results, so I'm hoping he tracks them down and I don't have to do it again!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@MrsDragon: omg, I hope he finds it too! I would DIE if I had to do the test again.

@Ash: haha I almost always pee a little when I sneeze now during pregnancy. When I had a cold over the 4th of July, it was awful lol.

Y'all.
These past 3 days back at work have kicked my butt! And the kids aren't even back yet!!! Holy moly I'm exhausted. I've been setting up my classroom and thank goodness I've got a great assistant this year! I'll do something for a few minutes and then I've gotta sit down and take a break. I'm so excited to meet the new kiddos, but the thought of 18 four year olds is a little frightening as well!!
I'm pretty dang proud of this tree I made all by myself! The nursery is jungle themed and I've got jungle on my mind, so I figured I'd make my classroom jungle themed too! I may have taken a rest in our "cozy area" after this project...
Also...I haven't had to deal with much unsolicited advice so far, but today an older coworker told me that I shouldn't be reaching my arms above my head (umm I'm 5' tall and I have a classroom to set up...) because the baby's cord will get wrapped around his neck. Ummm that's totally an old wive's tale right?! Pretty sure that's not possible.
pear / 1787 posts
@lilteacherbee: That is so cute! Are you going to work up until you have the baby? Also, that lady is nuts--there's no way lifting your arms above your head will affect the umbilical cord!
pear / 1571 posts
@lilteacherbee: LOL, that one cracks me up, but no, it's not true. CUTE tree!

@DigAPony: @FarmWifeGina: Hahaha 99% of me wanted to laugh at her, but the tiny 1% was like 0_0. She was super serious too. She's a little cray cray so I just normally let her talk and then go about my business. She's the one who told me she could tell I was pregnant at 5 weeks because I was "spreading." Way to make a girl feel good...
And I'm planning to work up until the due date, but being that he's measuring so big, but also knowing many first time moms go late, I'm just basically telling myself that he can come anytime in November. I guess I'll just play it by ear.
pear / 1571 posts
@lilteacherbee: Well, from what I understand, it used to be one of the more believable ones back in the day, so I guess she hasn't been pregnant since then, lol.

And, EEP! I am 27 weeks today, entering the 3rd trimester. THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING!!!!!

Happy to know I'm not the only one who's peed her pants. Yay!!
@lilteacherbee: cute tree!
Good luck to the teacher mamas this school year!!
I was telling dh, on my way home from work last night, that I don't know how I'm going to make it 3 more months. Being on my feet for 13hrs is kiiiiiiiiiiilliiiiiiiiiiiing meeeeeeeee!!! *sigh* Otherwise, I feel great! Aside from my new friend, Mr Heartburn.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@lilteacherbee: that looks so good! I've heard the arms above the head thing, but it was only for first trimester (And of course has no science behind it lol!)
Idk what happened to me this week but holy hormones! I am a WRECK. My already short fuse is basically non-existent now and I am on the verge of tears 24/7. It's 9:10am here and i've already cried once and told DH I was going home from work early. So once I decided I was too hormonal to be at work dealing with customers, I started to plan out what i'd do when I left work, like stop and get my dog a treat...it's my dogs birthday and I got all emotional because my little puppy is a 2 year old now.
omg ya'll... help.
