@Ash: My photog does a similar packages: maternity, NB, then 3 shoots during the first year (we did ~4, 8, 12 mo to try and keep them more evenly spaced). At the end of it you get a framed picture with a photo from each shoot so you can see LO growing. We did our maternity shoot at 36/37 weeks (the package was a shower gift from mom). I know our photog said that was later than when most moms do it, but I wasn't huge either. We are doing it again for this baby, but obviously we won't be getting them done while I'm in a cast, so it will probably be right at the end again.

ETA: If your photog does them, get a large photo book, similar to a wedding one, made with pictures from each session. We had one done and it is seriously the best thing ever. I love having our favorite pictures from each shoot in one place. We also got a large metallic print of our favorite newborn picture! It was so pricey, but worth it.

@anbanan15: I'm afraid to wait that long... Do you think 32 weeks seems reasonable?
    P.S. Darn cast!!

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: Yes I think that sounds like a good time! I forget the range our photog said she usually shoots at, but I think that was around that time (I think it was late 20's/early 30's range)...she was saying some moms don't like to wait because of being larger, uncomfortable and more stretch marks etc....just more comfortable with their bodies a little earlier.

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: Ooooo, sounds perfect. Mine said she likes to do them when the woman still feels pretty and isn't completely uncomfortable. So, that was a few weeks ago for me. Haha! I'm kidding, of course. I just feel like I need to wait a few more weeks so my belly is a little bigger. Just hope everything else doesn't get bigger in the next few weeks too.

@MrsTiz: Did your son show his face for the scan this time?
@anbanan15: How's your sons fever doing?

I'm a grump today, not enough sleep and people should learn to not try to boss around a very pregnant lady - I say 'try to boss' because they fail and just end up pissing me right off.

@Ash: thank you i will keep you/ her in mind...one of my really good friends at work has one too...and she said she would help...

@Ash: does the price include digital files/ print release?

  7. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsCastro: it includes proofbooks from each session.

@Maysprout: He did! We only got profiles, no full on face shots, but def. an improvement over last time! He only had one hand/arm up this time

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Maysprout: He still has it! If he still has it tomorrow we are supposed to take him back to the doctor.

@MrsTiz: So many pictures! Glad he cooperated this time a little more

  10. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@anbanan15: Those are only the ones she printed for us, she gave us a DVD with both sessions on video and all the pictures she took from both sessions (a LOT!) so we've got a millllion pictures it seems like!

What's everyones timeline on #2 (or #3+)? Or am I the only nutbag who's already thinking about #2? lol!

    grapefruit / 4800 posts

@MrsTiz: Glad he cooperated, he's very cute.
Our first 2 will be spaced 2-1/2 years and we'll probably keep the same spacing for the 3rd. That way LO1 will be starting kindergarten by the time we bring a 3rd into things. And DH has a crazy year next year and we prob have to move so I don't want to be pregnant then.
@anbanan15: Aww I'm sorry he's still sick, is his temp still that high?
@Ash: 32 weeks sounds reasonable to me but I don't know much about maternity shoots

  13. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Maysprout: It's fluctuating between just under 101 and 103.5! This is the first time we used ibuprofen with him and it seems to help his pain a little more, but still not doing much for the fever overall (within a few hours of having it the temp goes right back up).

@anbanan15: eek! Have you tried alternating ib and Tylenol? Poor little guy.

@MrsTiz: love the pics! He is adorable!
We will probably start trying for #2 around 6-9mos. Idk about #3.

@Maysprout: I'm reading 35+wks but I'm afraid I'll look too.... hmmm.... massive?! Ha

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: 6 months!? I thought I was moving fast, we've got plans to try around LO's first birthday. Maybe we'll be in the same month next time too

  17. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@MrsTiz: oh that is awesome!! Our LO's will but ~2.5 years apart also. I *think* we are going to be done after this one.

Err DS just tried to "feed the baby" by trying to stick a spoon full of sunflower butter up my belly button! He also just got done "washing" her by rubbing my belly down with wet wipes. I don't know where he gets this stuff!

  18. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: For your maternity pics, anytime between 28-34 I would think is okay. Some women swell up towards the end, and I would hate for you to wait until 35+ and then feel uncomfortable. I did mine at 29, granted i'm much bigger than I thought i'd be, but as soon as you feel like you have enough of a bump that looks "full sized" to you, I say do it!

  19. MrsTiz

@anbanan15: that is so sweet! He loves her already

  20. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: Yup. Same thing. The Tyelnol seems to only lower it for about an hour and the ib for 2-3. Pedi thought roseola but couldn't be sure yet. I hate that it gets so high!

@MrsTiz: haha it seems that way. Hopefully he has the same feeling once she is here!

@Ash: It's still crazy hot here, so I'm thinking that I'll do mine in about a month when it cools off a bit, maybe around 33-34 weeks. @MrsTiz got lucky last weekend when it felt like fall for a couple days!

    @anbanan15: That's so sweet!!

@MrsTiz: We want 3 and for the gaps to be 2- 2.5 years each. But because it took 13 months TTC for this one, I won't be on any BC or anything until after we're finished having kids. I figure we'll use the ole trusty pull out method (haha) until the one year mark and then we'll NTNP/ TTC.

  23. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: Oooo, that'd be awesome! Just remember, I'm a few years older than you I wouldn't mind waiting until a year to start... I'd say 6-12months depending on how things go.
And depending on the day, I don't think my bump is real... "bump-y" yet. I'd think within the next few weeks I'd be okay.

@anbanan15: Poor pumpkin Hope he starts feeling better soon!

@lilteacherbee: It's crazy hot here too... but I have a feeling it will be cooler in a few weeks. P.S. that's the method we'll use too... I don't do BCPs (they give me migraines).

Oh my, I'm getting so behind on this thread- SORRY!

@anbanan15: Yes, that absolutely sounds like hell, you poor thing!

    @MrsTiz: SO CUTE! Lucky you!

It's been friggin' hot here, in the 90s and abnormally humid and Farmer Man has been working extremely long hours with it being harvest time and all and hasn't had time to haul the window a/c out of the basement and I feel too huge to do it, so we've been suffering. I don't do well with heat, it makes me feel sick to my stomach and there's no escaping, so there's been a lot of laying around and very little getting things done for the last week. Except for keeping the kitchen as spotless as possible because the flies around our place are currently what I'd imagine the flies in the slum of a third world country to be like. It's seriously anxiety-provoking and I really would just prefer to stop cooking and making more messes to attract them for, like, forever. Or at least until the first frost. Argh. Unfortunately, there are little people who demand to be fed 4-5 times a day, so that's not really an option.
Cricket has been doing great though, moving like crazy seemingly every hour of the day, even when I wake up in the middle of the night.

  25. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@FarmWifeGina: So freakin hot here too... not harvest time yet though - thank goodness! Trying to get dh to get some things done at home before the combines come out - hopefully I'm successful!! Booooo on the heat inside though - I'd be dying! I have the house set on 71 PLUS the ceiling fans. How are you surviving the heat on top of being pregnant?! You're a tough mama!

  26. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@FarmWifeGina: Wait...you don't have AC? I would probably die! I don't know if it's as humid where you are, but seriously..I would die. I can't even go to the mailbox without freaking out haha

  27. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

@Ash: @MrsTiz: I don't even know what our humidity levels have been, I know it's not quite as insane as the East Coast, but for here it's HIGH. Like I said, I do the bare minimums. My house is filthy because I'm too hot and lazy to do much about it and being a single parent is wearing me out too. Although, today I managed to mow a bunch of grass and made and canned 12 pints of salsa, so it's been a good day. But I'm the couch for now, until the kids are in bed and the house has cooled off a bit so I can get more stuff done. Of course, our school started up last week and the city pool is closed because all the lifeguards had to go back to school, lol, or we would be living there, 18 miles to town notwithstanding. Here's hoping the temps back down into the 80s like they're forecasting for this weekend! At this rate, I'm ready for frost and fall!

  28. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@FarmWifeGina: you're so motivated! I look lazy compared to you!

  29. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

Oh, and @Ash:, we started harvesting small grains a couple of weeks ago and I *think* we're almost over the hump. But then we still have sunflowers and corn to do, as well as fall anhydrous, before it snows and I'm so scared we won't be ready for Cricket because I'm busy just trying to keep up and DH is b.u.s.y. We have no firewood cut for this winter (yeah, that's a super fun project to do in the third trimester) and we have so much to do around the house to make room for this baby. Yeah, and now I am officially having major anxiety about it. I had bought a sketch pad and pastels so I could try my hand at some of the birth art projects recommended in Birthing From Within and I have no idea when I'm going to have the time or energy to tap into the peace and quiet of MIND I need to do that kind of thing.

@Ash: Ha! I compare myself to the pioneer women who cooked huge harvest meals over hot, wood burning stoves, wearing petticoats and corsets, all in this type of weather and then I feel very wimpy indeed.

@MrsCB: Fun artwork! I need to get on top of my nursery decorations. Maybe that will be my project this weekend.

@anbanan15: Hope you're doing ok with your foot, and that your little one is feeling better now. Definitely a crazy week for you!

@lilteacherbee: I hope the rest of your week has been good at school!

@MrsTiz: Did you enjoy your classes? We had our 1-day class a few weeks ago and it was pretty informative. I think 1 class is all my husband could endure It's crazy to think about having a baby at 35 weeks. I've only just reached 27 weeks, so I feel like I still have a good 3 months to go. // So fun to see your 3D/4D pictures! Glad the baby cooperated this time. // As for #2 for us, we think we'll start trying as soon as we can. It was a long journey to get to this point, so as long as the birth process isn't too crazy, I think we'll get started on trying for #2 as soon as we can.

@Ash: Have fun with your maternity pictures! I don't think I'll schedule any maternity photos. But I do want to look into newborn photos. Thanks for the reminder to add that to the "to-do" list.

@FarmWifeGina: Phew - I can't even imagine dealing with heat while pregnant. It's been a pretty mild summer around here. And my days are spent working from the office in the lower part of our home which is always cool. Tell your kiddos to make fans and fan mommy. Make it a fun game!

My sister had her little baby girl yesterday I'm an aunt again! She's so precious, it was fun to get a glimpse of what it will be like in 3 more months. She gave birth in the same hospital we will be delivering in as well. The postpartum room was tiny, but private. I'm thinking I will tell people to hold off on visiting right away to give my husband and I some space. My husband just wants to hold off on telling anyone when we have the baby and keep it to ourselves

@sweetooth: Our classes weren't all that great, I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know from HB, but DH got to learn a lot which was great. It would have been a good class if our teachers gave a crap about what they were saying, they were so uninterested it was sad. I'm 30 weeks so delivering at 35 weeks actually gets me really excited! It's so soon! We're living with the mindset that we've got to be ready in 4 weeks because our hospital doesn't stop you from delivering if you are 34+..so we don't want to be caught unprepared if he decides to come early! Knowing my luck i'll go all the way to 41 haha --- Congrats on being an aunt! So exciting!

  34. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@sweetooth: Aww congrats!! Gah I'm always so jealous of you guys who have nieces/nephews. I have a feeling I won't be an aunt for a long time!

I've been thinking about when to tell people as well. I def don't want anyone in the room while I give birth (other than DH of course). I'm thinking if happens in the middle of the night, we'll call our parents, but I'm hoping they'll wait until the morning to come visit. It's going to be the first grandchild for both sides so I know we can't keep them away for long. I def don't want a whole room full of people the first day though (other than our parents and my sister)!

  35. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@MrsTiz: I learned a lot at our class, but then I haven't been reading up a whole lot on the actual birth process. So it was super informative. And I agree, there's a lot we're exposed to here on HB. It was good to have my husband hear some of the terms, and get exposed to things. It's great that you will be prepared if the baby comes early - you never know! My sister just delivered hers at 41 weeks though - so it can go both ways for sure.

@lilteacherbee: thanks! I know what you mean about having a room full of people on the first day. My husband will definitely be the only one in the delivery room. But in the private hospital room afterwards, I'd like to delay visitors until the day after birth. I guess we'll see how it goes. If the baby comes later in the day, we won't have to worry because visiting hours end at 9pm.

I am so behind on this thread that I don't even know where to start. I have five minutes before the bell rings, so I'll post my question and then come back and read!

Are any of you ladies finding that your weight gain according to the doctor and your weight gain according to your scale at home are different? I know that different times of day can affect it, but the doctor says I have gained more than I think I have!

  37. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@sweetooth: Congrats Auntie!! His fever finally broke yesterday and he seems to be doing better. I've been trying to take it easy, which is easier said than done with a toddler laying around, but overall it's starting to feel a little better Hopefully next week will be better!

@Mrs. J: Yes! At my last appointment they had me gaining a CRAZY amount of weight in 3 weeks. The nurse actually questioned their scale and weighed me several times with checking the scale because she didn't believe it. I try to wear the same clothing/shoes and schedule my appointments around the same time of day so it stays a little more consistent. The only thing I can think of is that I chugged a bottle of water on the way over because I forgot and went to the bathroom before leaving the house. The midwife (not my regular one) even said that I wasn't swollen or anything, but she didn't make a big deal about the gain if it was true....I'm so embarrassed by the amount their scale claims that I don't even want to say what it was! DH said there is no way that amount could possibly be correct and that I don't look much bigger from the previous appointment.

  38. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@Mrs. J: I don't have a scale at home, so I just go by what they say at each doctor visit. I'm trying not to focus on it too much and just continue to exercise and eat healthy.

@anbanan15: Thank you! And I'm so glad to hear that your son's fever broke. I hope you're able to continue to rest that foot as much as you can.

  39. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@Mrs. J: I purposely don't have a scale at home, but mine seems to match up with my mom's scale most of the time. Sometimes I have noticed that different doctors offices (like my reg OB and the MFM office) are way off from one another.

Fellow November mamas, I think I'm at the point where I can no longer tend to business "down there" with a razor. This weekend I tried to lift my bump, and bend over to see and I was denied. I may have reached the point of no return. I'm approaching 28 weeks this Thursday.

How about you guys? Are you still able to keep things nice and tidy "down there"
