@sweetooth: I haven't noticed anything too crazy yet (as far as baby brain is concerned)... Last night though I did put the sheets from the washer in the dryer...when I went back to get them out of the dryer, I realized I never started it, so I guess maybe that's just the tip of the iceberg and it's all downhill from here!
I was helping DH with the yard yesterday and I think after mowing, my feet/ankles were maaaaaybe a little swollen...for the first time ever! That was an exciting pregnancy milestone! Otherwise not much else...I'm waiting on a few random nursery things (changing pad and Boppy cover from Etsy, a tray for the changing table), but otherwise I think the nursery is just about done! I've juuuust about got my thank yous from my shower knocked out (thank gawd), and I have a hair appointment set up for next Friday--I'm going to chop it off, I figure I'll keep it as simple as possible for once baby is here!

@sweetooth: Placenta brain is just a way of life for me by now, lol. To the point of wanting to get tested for and getting ADHD medication when I'm not pregnant.

@ms.janedoe: Ha, I love that you're excited about swelling. How short are you thinking of going?
@MrsTiz: write the notes on your hand like a teenager? Also, yes to the BM...I mean, I'm happy I'm not constipated, but this also sucks.

@sweetooth: Yessss all the time! Thankfully, I work with little kids, so they just think its funny when I stop to call on them and can't remember their name. I actually ask them "ummm who are you?!" Hahaha.

Soooo my shower invitations were sent out yesterday and I am now officially registry stalking!!!!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@FarmWifeGina: so you're telling me to brace myself because it only gets wackier the more kids that I have?
@lilteacherbee: hahaha! Little kids are the best And yay for registry stalking!

@lilteacherbee: Yay registry stalking! Our invites aren't officially out yet, so not much has been bought.

@sweetooth: Meh, it depends on the person. I've always been spacey and scatterbrained, so that's the kind of mom I tend to be. But yes, as a mom, especially to multiple children, your brain is soon running a million miles an hour and you'll amaze yourself with your multitasking abilities, but with your brain that full, you're bound to forget a thing or two and will only be able to blame it on "mommy brain."

@lilteacherbee: When is your shower? Don't start now, it gets addicting..and then you'll be checking it everyday.. it's never ending lol!
Mine is this Saturday! Ah!! Either no one except my mom/MIL are coming or no one has been using our registry because both of them are still FULL. Kinda surprises me because it's a few days before, and both stores are having mega-baby sales for Labor day?? Oh well, I just hope people come because we didn't have people RSVP - and the past few days I've dreamt that no one came except my mom and a distant cousin lol!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MrsTiz: OMG! That would be awful! I bet some people just didn't get the people at the store to take it off the registry. Although for our wedding, lots of people didnt buy things that were on the registry. Mine is the 21st!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@MrsTiz: I wouldn't get your hopes up--at my shower we had about 40 people show up and only a few things purchased off the registry. We really didn't mind at all as we had bought a LOT of stuff we needed, and basically planned on buying the rest, but if you're counting on registry stuff, it could be a bit of a bummer!

Oy vey! What a day. Looks like a call to my midwife is in order tomorrow. I had the most screaming, throbbing headache at work today so when I left at 3, I checked my bp and it was 138/81. My bp is always always LOW (like 100s/60ish). So after my commute back home, I did a recheck and it was 110/64. And my headache was gone. I was gonna call tonight if it was still elevated but since the office was closed and it was normal after I got home, I decided to wait til morning. Dangit. This job is killing me!

@FarmWifeGina: I did over the weekend but it wasn't busy so I was fine (I was in peds). Today was a madhouse but I drank 2L and ate well so it wasn't that.

@Ash: Boooooo! And I don't suppose there's any other way to modify your job so you're not on your feet so much?
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Ash: Aww no!! That sounds like no fun. Hope you find out what's going on tomorrow!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@FarmWifeGina: the only way to modify it would be to have a patient load limit or not work in ob.... and I don't know if that would fly. We had 7 deliveries in 6hrs! Normally we have like 2 or do in 24! I just really want to avoid bedrest.
@lilteacherbee: I'm hoping the office is receptive. I feel like they brush me off whenever I call.

@Ash: I'm jealous that you get to see that many births!!!! Hi, my name is Regina, and I am a birth junkie.
Hopefully you can find a happy medium between working so hard and bed rest! How close to your EDD are you planning to work? Sorry if you already mentioned that and I missed it...
honeydew / 7909 posts
@FarmWifeGina: I love births too - such a miracle. Had I not been so busy yesterday, I would've taken time to chat a little longer about my patient's all natural birth. They're so rare around here that people look at me like I have 6 eyes and 5 ears when I say I'd like to avoid an epidural. I was planning on working full time up until my due date... but that's already got kaput since I went part-time. The sad part is they joke about putting me into labor (They say things like, "We're gonna put you into labor before you know it..." etc) and I don't find it funny - I'm only 29 weeks! Grrrrrrr! Now you got me goin...
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@Ash: Are you feeling better today?? Working 8 hour days isn't part time, so don't feel like you gave up on work or are taking the easy way out..I am exhausted after my full time 8 hour days, so quit being so hard on yourself! You're on your feet 8 HOURS a day..that is a lot of work!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@Ash: Tell them no more jokes about putting you into labor! Your little baby still has some cookin' to do! I'm sure days like yesterday make it hard to imagine how you can continue to work up until your due date. Is there a balance you can do with some paperwork and some on-your-feet work? You can't be the first of your coworkers to get pregnant.
Hope you're feeling better today - keep drinking lots of water and eating well.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@MrsTiz: I'm feeling tons better - thank you! Honestly, I felt better once I got home last night; Once I got off my feet, I felt like a new person. *sigh* I was working 3- 12hr shifts and I bumped them down to 8s... so I only work 3- 8hr shifts now. It just all sucks.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@sweetooth: They're really not super understanding which kind of boggles my mind... it's an ob floor afterall!! And I know everybody's pregnancy is different - some people are able to tolerate more than others. I don't know what to do. I have a midwife appointment next tuesday but I'll probably call the office today to tell them about my bp just so they are aware.
& thank you! That's my plan today
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Ash: I hope you get to put your feet up some more! That's crazy that they aren't as understanding, and they are an OB unit...
Tonight is our first Bradley Method class. Yay! I'm excited/weirdly a little nervous. I am missing Meet the Faculty night for it.
@lilteacherbee: Do they know who your maternity sub will be yet? They still haven't hired one for me, and I want to be able to communicate with him/her! I'm a little shocked they weren't more on top of it, considering they have known since last school year, and how I even started at my school was as a maternity sub for someone who went into labor at 27 weeks.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: I agree. I'm going to talk to dh tonight to see what we can come up with... Have fun at your class tonight! I had a bradley patient yesterday but I didn't get a chance to ask her details. Maybe I'll look into it... gosh, I'm a procrastinator!
coconut / 8472 posts
@Mrs. J: I'm not a teacher, but we just got approval to hire my "sub". We're going to get an intern for a few months and hopefully will start interviewing in the next few days.
@Ash: I'm sorry you're having such trouble with work :(. IDK how you do it at all. I had a bad back to begin with, so working on my feet would just be a total no-go.
@MrsTiz: Good luck with your registry! For both my wedding shower and my baby shower, stuff was bought up until the last minute. My hostess didn't ask for rsvp's either, just regrets, which NO ONE remembered to give. Drove me nuts since we were ordering the food.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@MrsCB: I have really good shoes lol! But even they're not tolerating all of the standing.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@MrsCB: The same two girls who are hosting this shower are the two who hosted my bridal, and on those invitations they had people RSVP but put both of their names and both phone numbers..so all of DH's family RSVP'd to SIL, and all of mine RSVP'd to my sister, and they couldn't manage to combine lists so it was a disaster..we just decided to not even bother with it this time but now i'm getting nervous! I don't know why, it doesn't matter in the long run but I cried at my bridal shower because none of DH's family came.. literally, none of them. It's not like they didn't support us, they were just busy but I was so embarrassed because ALL of my family was asking about them, so i'm nervous for a repeat of that!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@MrsTiz: I hope they come this time!
I'm bummed because it looks like SIL won't be at my any of my showers because her work trip to Italy might be rescheduled to that weekend. Both of my showers are the same weekend!

Well, I'm not getting a baby shower, at least, not one with a registry (I might get a small one from a ladies' club I'm in and a "sprinkle" at church), but we just harvested our crop for the year and are waiting for the big, fat check, and then I'm going SHOPPING!!!! Birth pool, maaaaaaaybe a double stroller, pack'n'play with a bassinet (if I can find one at Once Upon A Child), some new carseats, maybe I'll even get a cleaning crew in to help me get some deep cleaning done before Cricket comes, *sighing dreamily* LOL. I love planning how to spend money, but somehow I RARELY actually follow through with those plans- I have major money-spending anxiety.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Mrs. J: Nope, I'm not sure who it will be yet. BUT I do have an awesome assistant, so she should be able to fill in the sub on what we do and everything should still be able to move along pretty smoothly.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@lilteacherbee: Lucky you with your assistant! We just started with iPads this year too, so I'm freaking out a little.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@FarmWifeGina: haha woohooo! Glad you have it all planned out already Does your Once Upon a Child usually have good stuff? Ours is 98% girl clothes, and 2% crappy, cheap OLD bouncy swing things. Every time. I don't know how they stay open! Everything they keep/rotate is so grimey, and I have absolutely no problem with used stuff, but dang.
pear / 1571 posts
@MrsTiz: I've never been to any other OUAC, but I think it's pretty good. I do well for little girl clothes there, but not so well for preschool boy stuff, but I think that's just the age range because I can't find gently used 4T boys clothes ANYWHERE. But they carry some brand new items and their strollers and so on always look to be in really good shape. Certainly better than what I'd find at a regular thrift store.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Mrs. J: Yeah DH teaches 3rd grade and he's always jealous of my assistant, but seriously, 18 four year olds?! If I was all alone with them, I'd probably lose my mind haha. I'm sitting at the MFM office right now doing my GD stuff, so I left work early. I was counting down the minutes until it was time to leave because they were wilddddd today!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@Mrs. J: Enjoy your class tonight!
@MrsTiz: Just enjoy the people that can make it to the shower and know that everyone will LOVE your little guy no matter what. Registry gifts can continue to be purchased after the shower and I'm sure you'll have just what you need for a happy, healthy baby
@FarmWifeGina: Planning ahead for the spending definitely helps to take the plunge. I'm sure it's hard when you already have things for your kids. I find that buying online makes it SUPER easy to get over the money-spending anxiety. You push a button, walk away, and then in a few days there's a box at your front door. Awesome!
pear / 1571 posts
@sweetooth: Yeah, I'm super practical and don't really need a whole lot since I've already had two babies, but there are a few items that border on necessities and I'm already having anxiety about plunking down the change for them. I do a lot of online shopping since we live in the middle of nowhere, but it if I can, I love the tactile experience of going to a store and seeing and touching the product and buying it, lol. <------I think I have issues with money or retail therapy or something, baha. If I didn't really, really reign myself in, I think I'd be a shopaholic because it feels so damn good.

What are you guys doing/planning to do with monetary gifts? A coworker just gave me a card with $$$ in it and I don't know what to do with it..do I buy stuff for LO, or open a savings account, put it in a piggy bank, etc?
