@Ash: Wait?! What happened? I know you had suspicions after that one ultrasound at work, but you were doing so well holding out!

@Ash: Aw man! How did it get ruined?! ...do we count as friends or do we get to know? ;P but look on the bright side - BABY CLOTHES!!
I had my blood pressure check up appointment today and numbers are good! 122/84, so no complaints from my OB so woohoo! Also, the weather is so amazing today, it's perfectly breezy & like 72 degrees, I swear I feel like a new woman. It's crazy how much the heat affects my mood

@MrsTiz: @ms.janedoe: @Ash: @evansjamie: Thanks!! I'm happy
@evansjamie: You are ALMOST done!!
@Ash: What happened?! You came so close!! Now I'm curious
@MrsTiz: Well Unisom helps, but I'm trying not to take it all the time. I did give in last night and the sleep was wonderful!! And yes, the weather!! It's only 77 here right now! When we went on the playground this morning, it felt glorious. My face wasn't melting off (and the kids weren't as sweaty, which is always awesome haha)

@anbanan15: I was doing sooooooo well... but I had a patient's dad spoil it for me (my belly is seriously all the talk!!). And then the nurse who saw the u/s spoiled it yesterday.

@MrsTiz: yay for a good blood pressure! I'm scared every time I go that it's gonna be up after how high it was at work the other week. When I mentioned it to my midwife last week, she said as long as it comes down on it's own they're not concerned.

@anbanan15: @anbanan15: @lilteacherbee: well you guys count as friends but I'll tell you...
IT'S A GIRL!!!

@Ash: YAY!!! Your husband knows, right? What was his reaction??

@Ash: aww congrats!! Well the gender is not what you thought after that ultrasound so it was still a surprise! Have you decided on a name?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@sweetooth: Thanks!
@lilteacherbee: Oh yeah! I told him the second I left work yesterday. He's known I've been saying girl for so long that he wasn't shocked. Maybe a little disappointed in finding out before the birth though.
@anbanan15: Hahahaha I only thought boy for like, a week. I relooked at the pic and realized what I saw wasn't "boy parts" so I went back to thinking girl. It's been my gut instinct this whole time so it wasn't a shock. Yeah, we've had a name picked for 3 years now (it's after my great grandma). Our boy name was what we struggled with so that worked well. LOL

@Ash: ohh didn't know that, but am excited for you!! We were the same way about names

@anbanan15: @ShootingStar: @Mrs. J: @NeekieRose: thanks girls! Still sad we found out but I told dh we'll be team green next time - I liked it while it lasted.

@Mrs. J: I think so. I had such good intentions! Damn you, ultrasound tech!!!

So we had our 3rd tri ultrasound today with MFM to check growth. Baby is measuring 30w6d (I'm 30w4d) and right on track for being a 7.5 lb baby (DS was 7 lb 7 oz). Everything looks good and she is proving to be just as stubborn as DS already! We couldn't get a good 3D profile of her. Oh and the kicker is little stinker did decide to move from her transverse position to a BREECH position and the tech basically yelled at me to get working on getting her to turn (umm how was I supposed to know she is breech?!). I will be interested to hear what my midwife has to say about that in 2 weeks and I'm also skeptical on seeing how she is going to turn in there...her head is all the way between my breasts and her legs are all the way down by my pelvic bone and to the back (tech had to put the wand under my back on the side to see the feet). They also said she had a good amount of hair already!

@NeekieRose: I saw on another thread that your baby was breech a few weeks back. Is she still?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: my office doesn't check position until 36 weeks because of how often they flip so I wouldn't worry yet. I think our lo has been breech 99% of the time cuz very rarely are the kicks high - they're usually pretty low.
@ms.janedoe: Thanks!

@anbanan15: Sounds like a decently good appointment! At mine they said little girl was head down, so I'm hoping she stays that way! I was playing around on Spinning Babies and I'm almost 100% this is how she is right now:
http://spinningbabies.com/baby-positions/all-positions/left-occiput-anterior
It matches up with exactly how my belly feels--don't move too much, baby! You could definitely check out some of the Spinning Babies techniques, there's all sorts of fun ones... Also, totally jealous that your LO has hair! I have a feeling ours is going to be a little baldy!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Yea I don't really remember them making a big fuss with DS, just everytime she felt he was always head down and in position...stinker just never wanted to come out
@ms.janedoe: I've read some stuff here and there on spinning babies before, but assumed things weren't an issues because when I asked my midwife 2 appointments ago she said she was no longer transverse...hope your baby stays put!

@anbanan15: Yup, she's still breech. At 30 weeks (but measuring 32) the midwife I met with said she wasn't concerned yet. That she can flip at any time. The timeline I was given at the 30 week appointment was that if she hadn't flipped by my 34 week appointment they would give me exercises to do and information about seeing a chiropractor or acupuncturist to turn her. Then at 36 week appointment if she still hadn't flipped I would meet with a Dr. and schedule a c-section for the 39th week. But that they would keep checking me and if she decided to flip, then we would cancel the c-section.
So at my 32 week appointment last week they checked and she is still breech. Even though they said they weren't going to give me the exercises until 34 weeks, they gave them to me at that appointment. Basically they involve me laying at an incline with my head way low. Ummm...I did it once and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever. I could not breathe. DH actually walked into the room while I was doing it and took a picture. And posted it to FB. Since it's already on FB, I might as well put it here, so you can all see how ridiculous I looked.
So even though the midwives don't seem overly concerned at this point, I just have a feeling she isn't going to flip. I have never felt her do flips and every ultrasound I have had (and we had a bunch), she has always been breech. That is just how she likes to be. Everyone keeps saying how babies move all over, but that just hasn't felt like the case with her. Sure she is moving a ton, but not doing flips. The places I feel her are always the same. And with her measuring two weeks ahead, I feel like she is quickly running out of room to flip. But then again, what do I know! Ha
Anyways....that's a long post to say, yes, she's still breech. And to give you lovely ladies a picture to laugh at.

@NeekieRose: You look cute! That's a funny pic.
My first baby was breech. They didn't recognize it till the appointment two days before I hit 37 weeks. They attempted a version (where they push from the outside and try to turn him) at 37 weeks. It was unsuccessful, and DH and I tried everything we read about to try to get him to turn. I had a C section at 39 weeks and it was fine. If I could do it again, I wouldn't have tried the version - it didn't hurt (I had spinal anesthesia) although it was uncomfortable at times. It just felt very invasive, I feel weird about the way they were pushing and pushing on him from the outside.
Here is what we tried:
acupuncture
burning this special stick near my toe
shining light low in my pelvis (to get him to chase it)
playing music low in my pelvis
the pose @NeekieRose has illustrated for us
yoga (I do a lot of yoga anyway but tried to focus my practice on the inversions that are ok for pregnancy)
Ummm.... may have tried other things. But he was very comfy with his head wedged right up under my ribs. I feel like my whole existence became focused on getting him to turn in those last couple of weeks, and in retrospect I wish I would have just accepted it because I had an awesome experience with the c section and everything turned out perfectly fine. Let me know if you have any questions!

At our 32 week appt last week, the midwife said Baby J was head down, so I hope he/she stays that way!
Anyone else feeling lots of little feet sticking out lately? It's pretty funny!
persimmon / 1386 posts
@shellio: That is kind of the philosophy I am going to take. I don't want to put so much into trying to get her to flip for her to either never flip or to flip and then flip right back. Worst case scenario is a scheduled c-section in the 39th week? That doesn't sound like the most horrible thing ever....
pear / 1614 posts
@NeekieRose: Yeah - that is the worst case scenario and I wish I hadn't been so upset about it. By a couple days before I had accepted it and was able to still enjoy my baby's birth and I'm glad to hear you feel that way too From what I've heard, my friends' experiences with vaginal deliveries were often much rougher than my experience. There is nothing to dread about having a scheduled section! It did feel weird picking the baby's birthday but it is also nice to be able to plan ahead.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@NeekieRose: Thanks for the info! I think my midwife will take a stance sort of like yours. They are rather hands off office (even though she is with an OB and delivers in the hospital) and she doesn't get worried/excited about much and tried to keep you at ease, which is nice. Yes, I do feel her move, but like you I don't feel flips at all and the movements I do feel are subtle like a hand or foot brushing not a full on kick or jab. It was the same way with DS, which I thought was from my anterior placenta, but he was head down the whole time so maybe he just never did flips either
@shellio: @NeekieRose: That is how I feel too. I'm not into the idea of a version and just have a feeling she isn't going to turn. I don't want my last weeks with just DS to become about getting the baby to turn and not enjoy this time with him as much as I can. Also, I was breech and my mom's OB tried to manual turn me during delivery by placing his hands inside her. After he turned me, I turned back sideways and came out with the cord wrapped around my neck. My midwife already said we are not doing anything like that when my mom told her the story after we learned the baby was transverse at 18 weeks.
ETA: If to comes down to a scheduled section at 39 weeks she could be born on my birthday! 39 weeks would be 11/15 and my birthday is 11/14 The only concern I have about a c-section is DS is so obsessed with my belly and likes to lay on it (even pre-pregnancy).

@Ash: Aw, YAY! Well, you found out and didn't really want to and I didn't find out and really did want to, so I guess it's even. HA!
@Mrs. J: I'm still sorta team green! Well, I have two guesses for a girl, but nothing substantial.
@anbanan15: @shellio: I have to say that I swear by chiropractic work for getting breech babes to flip. It probably doesn't work 100% of the time, but it's pretty dang awesome. Tractor Girl was still breech at 32 weeks and I knew she had plenty of time to flip yet, but I didn't even want to think about the external version/scheduled c-section discussion (for health reasons, I will absolutely do whatever I can do to avoid making a c-section necessary, since I of course knew I wouldn't be able to find anyone with vaginal breech birth experience and I was going to have a tough time even getting my doctor to allow me to go into labor on my own before sectioning), so, since it doesn't hurt anything and I needed to go anyways, I started going for weekly adjustments and the Webster Technique and literally on the way home from my second appointment and 34 weeks, she started these HUGE movements that I had never felt before. She kept it up for 24 hours, to the point where I was definitely having some intestinal distress because of all her rearranging my insides. But at my next doctor appointment a couple of days later, she was definitely head down and it was nothing more to worry about. Not that I was really worried, but I wanted to be proactive and give her as much help as I could and she gave me the favor of going down easy.
This time, at the u/s I had to check for high fluid levels, Cricket was already head down, so I assume s/he still is. From what @ms.janedoe: posted, I *think* s/he's LOA, but might be ROA, can't quite decide. S/he has a little while to switch to LOA, lol.

@NeekieRose: love that you shared that pic - you look so uncomfortable! The things we're already doing for our babies!
@Mrs. J: No feet here. Darn placenta gets in the way! Lots of HUUUGE movements though. I have an acrobat in my belly!
@FarmWifeGina: I'd switch ya in a heartbeat. I hate knowing and not telling people but the checkbook always has a few dents in it since it being official. / I'm the same way regarding a csection. I told my midwife I will stand on my head for a week to avoid a scheduled section. I already go to the chiro regularly and he said we'll have no problems getting HER head down.

@Ash: Eeepp So that's how the beans were spilled? Err. Well at least you get to shop a little before she arrives. Any good finds? I"m having real diaper trouble lately lol. I may have gone overboard on NB diapers since we don't actually need them, but the girly prints....
@NeekieRose: I think that picture is FANTASTIC! I will probably be turning upside down at some point too, but I"m also accepting that she just might not turn. Either way a healthy baby at the end is all that matters.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: It's such a confusing story to type out how the beans were spilled... but in a nutshell... u/s tech printed pics (one of which was an actual girl parts shot including the 3 lines - which I still don't understand why she printed them considering she knew we were team green) but I brushed it off and didn't look into what the 3 lines meant until I had a patient's dad say "we knew it was a girl when we saw the 3 lines..." D'oh. So there went the secret. / I ordered some jammies from carter's yesterday - 5 bucks!! And now I am looking on etsy for a cute headband for newborn pics. Oooooo and I totally can start buying more BGs in girly prints instead of gender neutral. I hate keeping this secret from everyone though!!! My mom is my best friend (along with dh) and I feel terrible not telling her.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Ugh that stinks. People make comments like that all the time and it's so frustrating. Still not sure why the tech would have printed that specific picture though, especially considering you were team green. Out of all of our u/s we have never had a tech print any boy/girl part pics. I'm sorry you have to keep it from your mom. My mom and I are the same way and I would probably have told her already, but she wouldn't tell anyone else if we asked her not to.
Yay! BG's are our favorite pocket. We got a mint green and pink feather and flower headband for NB pics off Etsy. I'm debating if I should try and find a matching cheesecloth/stretchy wrap to go with it for pictures or what I want to do there.
pear / 1571 posts
@Ash: Such a bummer! We weren't going to tell if we found out either, so not knowing does make it easier, I can only imagine how hard it would be to keep my mouth shut if we did know. But I have to say, it is REALLY annoying not knowing which set of newborn clothes out of the attic! I mostly have gender neutral newborn stuff, but they grow out of newborn stuff so quick, it would be really, really nice if I could get out the bigger, specific-gendered clothes before the birth. But anyways. Or maybe I'm dumb for stil thinking it might be a boy and not just going with my two girl guesses?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I want to tell her but dh doesn't want me to. He's still not set on baby being a girl... And yeah, I'm not sure why she printed the pics either especially because she had us turn our heads 2x during the u/s. Either way, it's done. I was wanting to order a cheesecloth too!! Let me know what you find. I'm all over etsy today haha!
@FarmWifeGina: I don't know... I'd probably go with getting out the girl stuff I just feel like it'd be weird telling everyone at 31 weeks that it's a girl. I like keeping the suspense but it's so HARD!!
