@anbanan15: I didn't see your q about what the big sibling would do earlier. My mom is coming up when we go to the hospital and LO and has done overnights with her a couple times so I'm hoping LO is OK with that. DH might not spend the night in the hospital, we only live like 5-10 min away so it might be easier for him to go home and get some sleep and it might make LO happier.
We've had talks with LO, she seems to understand a decent amount. She seems to grasp that baby is in mommy's tummy and mommy will go to the Drs when it's time for baby to come out of mommy's tummy. That much I'm pretty sure she gets and we have all of baby's clothes and furniture set up and she talks about when baby comes. We've explained that mommy will spend a couple nights at the Drs and LO can visit us and the baby - but that part I don't know that she gets but we talk to her about it every couple nights. She's def going to visit us in the hospital, I think it will help her understand things, but we're going to kind of play it by ear with how much time she spends there. She's very attached to me too but she also loves adventure and new things and is obsessed with babies so I'm hoping we can distract her enough in the couple days I'm gone.

So, DH had to put my shoes on for me today... I am SO OVER being at work....my hips hurt for like the first time....and I really want a nap. That's my whine list...what's yours?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: I'm the opposite... kinda. I haven't worked in 2 weeks! So I want to work. But as for my whine list... sleeping officially sucks... my back and hips hurt at night... and my stomach is a never ending pit.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Ash: I have no official end date...whenever Baby J decides to show is the end for me!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: I'm not off work intentionally... We haven't been busy enough for me to work. I want to be there.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Ash: I know. It's such a long ways away for you though! It'd be easier if you were delivering there, wouldn't it?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: nah, I only work 3x a week (when I do) so I'm home 4x a week and closer to my midwife and delivering hospital. Otherwise, I'd have to doctor there too... which would be a 70 minute drive for a 5 minute appt. PLUS, they don't do waterbirths nor do they have midwives.

Is it bad that I'm kind of over baby hiccups and getting kicked? He's not even kicking me in the ribs or anything painful. I feel kinda guilty.

@Mrs. J: Today was supposed to be my last day of work. I was so ready for it. Now I am at least coming to work on Monday, and pending her position at the appointment on Monday, probably back to work on Tuesday. Sigh.
I'm starting to think that maybe she is flipped for good, her heartbeat was down low this morning and last night. I know this is better overall, but I was really looking forward to being done with work and meeting her next week!

@ShootingStar: I've got one kicking me from the inside and another kicking me from the outside...good times! Over it is an understatement lol.
@Maysprout: Sounds like your plan and LO's understanding is similar to ours. I think our LO's are similar in age? DS turned 2.5 yesterday.
I'm also not sure if DH will stay the night either. We live about 15 min from where I'll give birth and I think that part will really depend on what type of delivery I have and time of day (DS was born right after midnight so it made sense for DH to stay, plus it was our first). The rest I think we will go with the flow also, but I think it world be better for him to meet her in the hospital as well.
coconut / 8472 posts
@anbanan15: Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one. My boss asked how I was doing and I told her I was really tired of being kicked and she was like "eh you're human". I just feel like I should treasure these moments instead of getting annoyed.
I am in a seriously cranky mood today. I stopped by Panera for lunch - it's kind of a weird Panera that's just pick up. And they replaced the seating they used to have (a normal bench) with this really high and narrow one that I couldn't figure out how to stay on. I walked up to the counter and was like "I didn't think at 9 months pregnant it was possible for me to get more uncomfortable than I already am. But that bench made it possible. "

@NeekieRose: Oh wow, what a roller coaster!! Silly baby! I know what you mean- I've mentally prepared myself for a C-section as well.
Speaking of that, my C-section has been scheduled for November 14th!! My OB practice has 11 doctors and I have 2 favorites. I was able to get one of my favs to do the surgery, so I'm happy about that. Eeeek, That's less than 3 weeks away!! And only 2 more weeks left of work AHHHH!! Things are getting real!

@sarah.clarisse: OMG, congrats mama!!!!
@Mrs. J: haha I made DH tie my shoes for me yesterday! I bend over all day long and tie little people's' shoes and I was over it last night!!

@Mrs. J: I'm hungry and I'm exhausted, even though it's only 10:30 in the morning and I've already had a nap. Meh. I've been conking out on the couch every morning after everyone is out the door and Tractor Girl just watches Disney Junior for an hour. Or 3. But I wake up exhausted every morning and I find that if just go ahead and nap in the morning, I can actually get some stuff done in the afternoon. Today's project is to finish shampooing the living room carpet. But anyways, exhaustion, that's what's on my whine list. Thankfully my tail bone is feeling 80% better and back to feeling physically well. It's not like I won't be exhausted after I have a newborn or anything, lol. Oh, and speaking of having a newborn, I've been having some humdinger contractions. Nothing timeable, but I've never had contractions like these without actually being in labor. And yesterday, there were a few times I went to the bathroom and so much painful downward pressure that I seriously wondered for a minute or two if I was going to have a baby right there in one giant contraction or something. Which totally scared me because I'm not ready yet!!!!
@anbanan15: My littlest one is a little older than yours (2 3/4, lol), but since we're having a home birth, we have child care lined up and the kids will be here at home when Cricket comes (planning for the birth to happen in the basement, so they'll be on the main floor and not have to around the actual birth at all, if they don't want to be), so they'll get to meet him/her pretty quickly after the birth. I don't foresee any issues. Both kids have a pretty good idea about what's going to happen and that there's a baby coming out and that the midwife will come to help and so on. LOL, so I'm probably the only one who finds this rather hysterical, but the other night DH was giving the kids baths and he came to me laughing and shaking his head and saying, "Desi watches too many birth vids with you!" Apparently she'd laid back in the tub and pulled back her legs and said, "Ok, now the baby can come out!" LOL, hey, I'm a birth junkie, so what can I say besides, "Learn 'em young!"

@lilteacherbee: That's really exciting to have your c-section scheduled and with the Dr. you like!
grapefruit / 4800 posts
@anbanan15: She'll be 2.5 in a month so pretty much the same age.
@FarmWifeGina: Haha. We don't watch birth videos but she did figure out more than I thought. She was saying her tummy hurt and she had to go poopy so I was explaining that the poopy was in her tummy and that when she sits on the potty she pushes it from her tummy out her heiny into the potty. So then she asked about baby being in my tummy and getting pushed out - had to explain it won't happen on the potty but she didn't seem interested in that part.

@sarah.clarisse: Congratulations!! Can't wait to see pics.
Today was my last day of work! I still have one more thing to do but can pretty much do it from home. I got a shipment of consignment baby clothes in the mail so I have a ton of laundry to do. Feeling a lot better about going with the flow and waiting for baby, although my ribs are KILLING me. I thought with her dropping that it'd get better but there's one horrible sore spot that just isn't going away.

My only whines right now are that I want this master bath/bedroom renovation to be over and done with! That and I really could have used a nice glass of red wine yesterday after dealing with family stress. I think when the baby comes we just aren't going to let anyone in our house
So fun to hear everyone talking about final days at work, and such. I'm still 4 weeks out from my last day at work. I'm only at 35w2d right now. So you're all giving me a glimpse of my future.

Holy man, I missed a lot. I'll come back and fill in later tonight, as DH is going to a buddy's house for a fall bonfire...
I'm doin' alright--I went for a walk today (I'm supposed to be "working from home...") and my lower back/pelvis started popping suuuper bad, kind of disgusting. Since then my hips and lower back have reeeeeally started to ache. Lame. I think I miiiiight be starting to see (little...very little!) bits and pieces of my mucous plug, but again, I think we all know that doesn't really mean a whole lot!
I got hit with a horrible urge to clean everything...even though we just had a cleaning lady come on Tuesday. I was on my hands and knees with a tiny dustpan sweeping the nooks and crannys she missed. I also had to do ALL of the bedding, and am now on a mission to tame my eyebrows/nails/shaving/etc... Ugh. Good thing I have all night to myself, gawd knows this could take awhile...

@ms.janedoe: Um, when are you due? Because that's some legit nesting going on. The mucous plug may not mean a lot for time, but it does mean your body is doin' it's thang, getting ready to open up for a baby to come out!

@ms.janedoe: Take it easy, ok? A popping lower back and pelvis sounds painful! Put your feet up after you pamper yourself!

@FarmWifeGina: 2 weeks from today, November 8th! SO freaking crazy!
@sweetooth: Ooooh, will do, I'm kind of looking forward to having DH out for awhile tonight--I'm thinking my night will consist of a pizza and trashy TV...
nectarine / 2705 posts
@ms.janedoe: mmmm, pizza! You're making me rethink the enchiladas I was planning on making.... Enjoy your night! Your "ME" time
coconut / 8472 posts
@ms.janedoe: Oh boy, that's some serious nesting. I'm just waiting for that to hit me so I can be productive again.
@lilteacherbee: Yay for having a date!!
My boss was commenting today that she was little worried because the baby was looking really low. (She wants me around as long as possible). I think some of it was my outfit, but it was good to hear I might be making some progress. I think my last work day will be 3 weeks from today. And then I'll take the following week off and should be induced some time that week (11/20-22). In a way I am hoping I make it to then because it'll give me a few days to rest, whereas now I'm just exhausted. But on the other hand I'm so tired of being pregnant and ready to be done NOW.
persimmon / 1386 posts
@ms.janedoe: I need to get that final burst of nesting to finish off the cleaning in the house. I scrubbed bathrooms and cleaned the entire upper floor, but I have not done the main level . That is on the list of things to do this weekend.
Also on the agenda for the weekend is a special date night with DH tomorrow night. In addition to it being our last date night before Reagan, we both have gotten promotions in the past couple weeks so we have a lot to celebrate!

Ugh....the hospital just called to go over all the details for the c-section on Tuesday. Since we don't know yet if we are cancelling it, the hospital obviously still thinks everything is going ahead as planned.
It is not helping that I have talked to a number of women who have had c-sections who are telling me to just go through as scheduled. DH had a number of people tell him the same thing yesterday so he is leaning in that direction....I'm so conflicted!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@sweetooth: @NeekieRose: I know, it's crazy!! In 3 weeks (or less), he will be here
@NeekieRose: Gah I don't even know what I would do in your situation either. Are you just going to wait and see what position she's in next week?
@ShootingStar: You're about a week behind me in everything! My last day of work is in 2 weeks and then he'll be here the next. I'm pretty over being pregnant as well, but I know it's just going to get more uncomfortable so I'm trying to deal with it gracefully haha
persimmon / 1386 posts
@lilteacherbee: Yeah, that's the plan. Depending on her position on Monday afternoon we will decide. But I feel like I wouldn't be justified in deciding to go ahead with the c-section if she's head down on Monday. My sister (who is currently 11 weeks pregnant with her first) just told me it would be a "cop out" to get the c-section. Yet there are others who have actually had c-sections that have said to just do it!

@sarah.clarisse. Congrats!
@ lilteacherbee. That's so exciting to have a date
@ mrs.j. I'm so done with the getting up every hour at night to pee and the pain from LO's head on my cervix.
Had my 38 week appt today and the US showed her at 8 lb 7 oz. My doctor is a little worried about her size, so he wants to talk about induction if I haven't gone in to labor by my appt next week. I don't know how I feel about that. I'm only 1 cm dilated, but he scraped my membrane to see if that would help. Anyone have any suggestions on home remedies to induce labor?
pear / 1571 posts
@stine_ciro: The Miles Circuit, nipple stimulation (there are actual protocols that you can google for pumping yourself into labor), clary sage oil, ball bouncing (of the exercise ball variety, lol), walking, red raspberry leaf, wine, hot baths, and relaxation!
coconut / 8472 posts
@FarmWifeGina: By hot baths, does that it can go over the 100 degrees you're supposed to normally stay under while pregnant?
pear / 1571 posts
@ShootingStar: Just whatever feels good and helps you relax. I personally don't listen to that rule in the 3rd tri because I find it rather arbitrary, but that's just me. I just meant, whatever helps you relax.
coconut / 8472 posts
@FarmWifeGina: Well I haven't taken a bath in while because I'm afraid of trying to get in an out of the tub! But at week 39 I'm gonna try to pull out all the stops and see if I can get baby to come naturally instead of by induction.
pear / 1571 posts
@ShootingStar: The idea is that alternating active self-induction ideas and simply relaxing and letting go, hopefully something will work. Sometimes your body just gets too tensed up from the effort and you can't go into labor like that. The rest of the stuff isn't bad, they can be very helpful for getting the body to progress and getting baby's head correctly applied to the cervix, but then you need to relax and have a good cry for it to actually work.
