    @Mrs. J: hehe Sorry! I just always assumed you were having a boy for some reason...I actually checked the gender thread more than one to remind myself if you knew the sex or not! Can't wait to meet baby j!

    @ShootingStar: I would call the on call doc if you are questioning it. That's why they are there for! Good luck!

    Quick feeding update...

    We're now "breastfeeding" for 15 minutes on each side using a shield (I say "breastfeeding" as at the LC, she was weighed and she took nothing at all from my breast after a "feeding", just sucked). Then, I pump for 10 minutes (both sides at the same time), THEN whatever I pumped from the previous session (still only about 3/8-5/8 of an ounce total) is fed to her in a bottle with the remainder of 2.0-2.5oz supplemented with formula. Alone, it takes an hour and 40 minutes to do, with someone to feed her, about an hour.

    The while thing is ridiculous. The LC thinks there's still a chance my milk may come in, though I'm hitting 7 days tomorrow (she said 10 days would probably be the cutoff).. She watched her at the breast and it sounds like she still isn't sucking "right." She have us a faux SNS to try a few times a day to try to encourage her to suck more at the breast. We go back in on Friday to see what she's gained/where her suck is at/where my milk is at and go from there.

    So yeah, it's just exhausting a and pretty frustrating overall. Instead of just doing one of them (boob/pump/bottle), were doing all 3. To be honest, I'm not confident my milk will come in, and she really isn't interested in the breast (and her behavior hasn't changed in a week). I'll be happy come Friday when hopefully we have a clear plan. This is kind of my last ditch effort as it doesn't sound like there's much more I can really try. The LC's parting comment was, "well, it isn't the most dire situation I've ever seen..." Reassuring, huh?

    Again, I'm totally fine with the formula/bottle route, and it honestly sounds so simple and stress-free after this last week! Overall I just want her to be happy and watching her get frustrated at the boob for a half hour isn't helping! Everything is SO perfect otherwise, she sleeps, poops, cuddles, and is seriously just freaking adorable--once we get the feeding under control (and a feeding plan that doesn't take an hour and 45 minutes every 3 hours), it'll be 100% smooth sailing!

    Hmm, I guess that wasn't quick...sorry! I'm so excited for everyone!!!@ShootingStar: can't wait to hear!!! @cara m. 17: LOVE IT!!! Woohoo!!!

    @ms.janedoe: Good luck! You will find a plan that works for you and it sounds like you are giving it your all to give breastfeeding a chance! Keep up the good work and I hope your milk comes in soon if you still are wanting to nurse. Try not to stress, but I know it's hard not to.

    My friends daughter had latch/suck issues in the beginning also. They supplemented the first week, used a nipple shield and saw an LC repeatedly until her daughter finally got the hang of it. She ended up nursing for 1 year with a killer freezer stash, but it took a lot of hard work at the beginning to make it happen. One thing she said that really helped her was reading the book "Breastfeeding Made Simple: Seven natural laws for nursing mothers". http://www.amazon.com/Breastfeeding-Made-Simple-Natural-Nursing/dp/1572248610. Hang in there!

    I have walked, done stairs, bounced on my ball, swung on a swing, had sex, eaten spicy food and pineapple, done nipple stimulation, and have meditated, and this baby is still 6 days late. Kid, I know it's comfy in there, but your mother is growing frustrated.

    @ms.janedoe: you are doing everything you can for Harper - don't forget that. I can't imagine how frustrated you must feel... and since you've always said "happy baby, happy mama" I know everything will work out one way or another.

    @Mrs. J: come out, baby J - we wanna meet you!

    @Mrs. J: @Ash: In the hospital now. I woke up with contractions 3-5 minutes apart and called the OB after an hour. No cervical progress yet, they're going to check me again in a couple hours. BP was pretty high though, I'm guessing if it doesn't go down they're going to keep me either way.

    @ms.janedoe: Aww that sounds so hard!! You're doing great! Whatever you decide to do will be the best for you and Harper!

    @ShootingStar: Oh wow!! Exciting stuff happening! Good luck!!

    About 24 hours until I go into surgery. Oh my, I may be freaking out a little. I'm not even that nervous about being sliced open and all that. It's more of the "holy crap, life will never be the same ever again." DH laughed at me last night and was like, really you're just now having these thoughts?? I've been so excited this whole time (and still am!), but it's just now REALLY hitting me...24 hours before. Ahhhh!

    @lilteacherbee: I am the same...I have only been having those thoughts recently! So excited for you!!!!

    In other TMI news, I think I just lost a giant part if not the rest of my mucus plug. Wahoo!

    @lilteacherbee: same here! I've been so excited this whole time that I forgot our lives can change any time now... and now I'm more in freak out mode! I am a nervous wreck anymore! Don't get me wrong, I can't freakin wait to meet this little miracle but I'm also so scared for everything that's to come... to the point that I could cry at the drop of a hat.

    We are totally the biggest dorks - we're passing the time and trying to get me to dilate by having a dance party in the labor room, lol.

    @Mrs. J: @Ash: Ok, you guys make me feel more normal! I'm a nervous wreck today and I feel like I might cry at any given moment. I purposefully left myself a bunch to do today (cleaning wise), so that I would have something to focus on. Tomorrow this time, I should have a baby!!!! Oh my goodness.

    @Mrs. J: Yay!!! Maybe finally some progress?!

    Also, it snowed here last night?! It NEVER snows. We live in the south, near the beach. I get on Facebook and everyone has pictures of the tops of their cars with a tinyyyy bit of snow left from last night. It may snow here every few years, like an INCH or two, but normally in January- February, not November! Craziness. Kinda funny to watch everyone freak out over snow that didn't even last the night haha.

    Aaaaand I checked the weather- supposed to be back 70 degrees by the weekend.

    @ShootingStar: Yay! Good luck and I totally have a mental picture of you dancing around now!

    @Mrs. J: You sound like me with my first! I did all that and nothing helped. I was so discouraged:( I hope things start happening soon. I know it's not an indication of labor, but maybe that mucus plug you just lost will help things along!

    @lilteacherbee: Eeeeep!! It's almost someone's birthday!

    @lilteacherbee: haha we always have snow, and people still freak out at the first one! It's like they forget how to drive.

    I am hoping this is finally progress!

    @Mrs. J: Eek! Maybe baby is thinking about coming out!
    I try to stay home on the first snow because of the crazy drivers!

    @lilteacherbee: we won't see 70s for another 8mos lol! We've gotten 2 snows so far in the past couple of weeks but nothing that's accumulated, thank goodness.

    @ShootingStar: Good luck!!
    @Mrs. J: Woohoo, progress!

    Baby passed her biophysical profile -- the tech said she's still head down but 'not very down', and she's up over 8 lbs. now by their guesstimation (guess I didn't need to buy all those newborn things...). We have another BPP and a non stress test scheduled for Friday along with a sweep. If nothing happens by Monday they'll start with prostaglandin gels, most likely. Still feeling TONS of familial pressure (the castor oil jokes are kinda getting old) but I'm determined to let her do her thing on her own time, until my doctor won't let me do that anymore.

    So after 6 hours at the hospital we got sent home :-(. My midwife thinks I'm in "early early labor" and that the contractions just arent strong enough to make my cervix progress. Heading home to nap and have some wine later.
