My DH made me this MS mocktail & I wanted to share it with you all as it actually worked for me!
Ginger ale, freshly squeezed orange juice & sparkling water - oh & served with a fresh pineapple ring! Haha.
Hope this helps someone else out.

@tororojo: Yeah I feel like I would be amiss if we didn't at least look into the option. We could use that money elsewhere definitely.

@Lolo: that looks yummy! Orange juice is also supposed to help your body absorb that oh-so-important folic acid!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone had their progesterone levels checked? I think I'm doing too much reading/googling, and I have this fear my progesterone levels are low (one reason being that I spotted about 10 days before my AF was due). My appointment is for this Thursday and I want to ask them to check. Do they typically do this?

@DeannaY1230: I had mine checked when they checked my HCG levels. My doctor's office only checks HCG & progesterone if you have had a previous MC. I hope your levels are good!

@Lolo: That looks delish! Glad to hear something is helping with the nausea. And how sweet is your hubby?!
@DeannaY1230: I too had my P4 checked with my HCG. I'm not sure if it's a common test all doctors do (I'm still with my RE and on progesterone supplements), but it couldn't hurt to ask for it.

@DeannaY1230: I've had mine checked and it was 11.9 two weeks ago. It had me.concerned but they said they don't supplement until you are at like 10. I was wondering if that is responsible for all my spotting though... they usually want you from like 18-25.

Arg, having a bad moment and DH is not being helpful! ON my lunch break, sitting in my dark classroom, having a huge sense of deja vu today it is crazy! Is that a weird pregnancy feeling, or a feeling that something horrible is going to happen?? It is freaking me out, I have had it since I got up.. like I have the creepy music playing in the back of my head.... weird.
Have not had any more spotting since Tuesday which is good, but still cramps. Nothing major but always there. They are usually minor during the day, and then by mid afternoon they start to be noticeable, so I head home right after work, 4 ish, and put my feet up, drink more water (even though it is all I do all day!!) and usually within an hour or so they subside.
arg... hormones....... DH just keeps saying he loves me, which is all well and sweet but annoying!!!!
vent over.......
how is everyone else feeling? I am 8 weeks today according to ovulation. Doc says I am 8 weeks next Wednesday according to my period... blah blah. Not that it matters at the end anyways! I have actually slept most of the night the last 2 nights which has been amazing! I think that is the first time since ovulation!!! DH has been amazing, and encouraging me to put my feet up etc. We are getting more snow here today (bah will Spring ever come!!) and DH has forbidden me from touching it.... how can I complain with that?!?!?! He has been cleaning the house the last 2 weeks- during construction in our living room!!- so that I dont have to stress. He has been amazing. He doesnt know what to do with me, but I will take the cleaning!!!

@MarieJ: @Sprite: @Mrs.Panda: Thanks for your feedback. I'm surprised you all have had it checked. I thought it was pretty uncommon. I'm kicking myself for not asking them to do my blood work when I went in on the 13th. I hope when I go in on Thursday it's not too late.

@DeannaY1230: I insisted that it got done because I'm a worry wart buy it may have caused me to worry even more!

How often do you ladies go to the doc right now?!?!? I dont go back until April 10th!! I saw her a week after my BFP to go for blood work and then the following Monday to have the first pre-natal with is basically a physical. She did full panal of bloodwork then, 5 viles, and has only called to say I am O- so DH had to go in.
I am just feeling down today, and crummy. DH is trying to cheer me up but I just want to curl up into a ball. My students are cranky and it is cold again -28 Celsius with the windchill. I just want to go to bed!!!

@MrsScottish: Holy crap, that is chilly! I don't even know how to behave in snow, living in Florida. Usually people go to the doctor every month here, but I've been going like every week because of my issues.
apricot / 305 posts
@MrsScottish: that sounds unbearably cold! I'm usually pretty good at converting Celsius to Fahrenheit, but I have no idea how negatives change that! I'm iutside right now for an extended recess since this is the first warmish day we've had in a while. I haven't been sleeping through the night either. I woke up sulu super thirsty three times last night. Of course that meant I was getting up to pee too!

@Mrs.Panda: I didn't know you were from Florida, I am too!
@MrsScottish: Ah! You must be freezing!! How do you deal with that??
Well to ease my mind, I would like to go to the doctor every week . When I initially called the Dr to tell them I was pg, they scheduled me for March 20th (this was before I even missed AF). I started to get really bad cramps, and swore I was having an ectopic pg, so I called and they told me to come in for an u/s on March 13th (so my original appointment got moved up a week). When I went in on the 13th, and they confirmed the baby was in fact in my uterus, they canceled my appointment on the 20th, and rescheduled it to the 27th. So I'll be going back then, I'll be 7w2d. That is when they'll do all my blood work and first prenatal appointment. I was shocked they didn't take my blood on the 13th. All they made me do was pee in a cup. I have a feeling after that appt, they'll make me wait until I'm 12 weeks to go back in. We'll see...

I don't know what that converts to in F but during "winter" it is usually -30 ish. We go outside for recess until -27 then we stay in. We had 7 solid weeks of indoor recess and many of those days were -40 !!!! You get used to it I guess. Been here all my life!! It is usually warming up by now but apparently not this year!!! We have record snow fall and record number of days below -40!! It is the second coldest winter on record.

@DeannaY1230: that sounds pretty typical here, unfortunately. Where in Florida are you? I'm near Tampa!

Here appointments are very ...... Far and few between in the beginning because of the high case of miscarriages. I am with my gp right now as ob-gyn,so don't start to see you until at least 4-5 months. I am 8 weeks today, see my GP again on April 10 th and then have my first ob appointment on April 26 th I think. Ultrasound is booked for June 16 th. We only get one unless here are issues or previous history. I am trying not to be crazy and I know if something happens going to the doc is not going to fix anything it is just nerve racking. Taking it day by day.

@DeannaY1230: my best friend lives in PB Gardens! I'm going down there next weekend for her wedding. Which reminds me I still need a dress...

@MrsScottish: a week from today is my first OB appointment. It's supposed to be with a NP rather than a doc, but he happened to be free that day so they scheduled me with him. I am all but going to demand that they do a scan of some type so I can see/hear a heartbeat. By my calculations, I'll be 7w 2/3 days at that point. Pending a healthy baby (FX!!!!), I'll have the NT ultrasound btw 10-12 weeks, another check-up at around 14/15 weeks (?), then the big scan at 20 weeks.....
Next Friday cannot come fast enough. I'm a nervous wreck!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@DeannaY1230: a good question. I'll ask at my appointment next week....I had spotting for a full week pre-post BFP, so want to ensure everything is good. I'm getting a load of blood work done (this is the big-deal first prenatal appointment), so I'll ask them to run the gamut.
Question: anyone else wanting to get the DNA test done? We had something in my family's history that makes me want to double and triple check for abnormalities, so I'm asking for it.

@juliem: So sorry for your loss. Thinking of you during this rough time:-(.

@DeannaY1230: They will probably do blood work at your first appointment and check progesterone levels as well as a bunch of other things. I think that's pretty routine if you're going to an OB.
cherry / 220 posts
@MrsScottish: my first appointment is March 25, I'll be 7w4d. Then I won't go again until the 12-13 week scan. They usually wait until 8 weeks, but I convinced them to let me come a few days early because I already had my mom babysitting that morning for something else, and my husband could make that date easily.
And I haven't had any blood work done or anything. My office doesn't do it unless you've had a history of an issue. That means I've taken a pregnancy test about once a week just to make sure I am ,in fact, still pregnant.
nectarine / 2358 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: I really want to get it done, but I need to make sure my insurance will cover it and if so, how much my portion would be. I really should have called them today, ugh. Oh well, I have time I think you have to do it after 10 weeks? Can't remember. We don't have any risk factors as far as family history goes, but you never know! DH has Sickle Cell trait and I'm pretty sure they check for Sickle Cell disease, though the trait they may not. It's not a huge deal, but it can be uncomfortable. I just want to get it done just in case!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Mrs.Panda: Good point....I need to call insurance again to check. I called to ask about pregnancy coverage right when we started TTC, and they basically said that after we meet a certain deductible it's "all" covered. I need to make sure extra tests count, though. However, depending on the cost if they don't cover it, we might do it anyway....it's too important to skip.
I'm running my long-awaited 15K in the morning (9.3 miles). I'm a bit nervous, but not going to pressure myself into a time goal. I'm just going to concentrate on the fact that it's my baby's first race:-). I have become increasingly anxious about Friday's appointment as the days have ticked by, so I'm hoping to channel that energy into my race. Ironically, today's the day my bladder/kidneys decided that I'm pregnant, and I have to pee all.the.time. Should make for an interesting race .
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Good luck in your race this morning! I hope it went (is going!) well!
@DeannaY1230: With DD1, I had my progesterone checked by my RE really early on, and I ended up with progesterone shots. Once I switched to my OB at 8 weeks though, they didn't do any bloodwork. I'm going straight to my OB this time, and I don't anticipate that they'll do bloodwork or check my levels unless there's reason for concern.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@MrsScottish: I go in for the first time at 8-10 weeks (8w2d for me), and then it's every four weeks until the third trimester here. It's still freezing here too, for what it's worth! I'm ready for the snow to stop at least - I can't get DD's stroller down the sidewalks, and we have major cabin fever!
cherry / 245 posts
@DeannaY1230: I would def ask for a p4 test! It shouldn't be a big deal for them to do it. If they try to talk you out of it, I might recommend insisting. I bet you are totally fine, but I think every pregnant woman should get her p4 tested!! Can't hurt, and an easy fix if something is off.

@rattles: What was your progesterone level that made you get shots?
