@karenbme: ugh thanks for checking in! i'm pretty distracted as well, and my appointment is not until 1:45. how are you feeling? 4 is definitely tough! hope you can find something fun or at least interesting to keep busy. one thing that has kept my mind off it is that poor DS came down with his first major tummy bug last night so was basically throwing up all night definitely looking for some good news today. so glad it's a friday!

@nwm: Oof, sorry to hear about your little guy. I guess we're both waiting for a while. I'm feeling ok I guess, if I don't eat breakfast my nausea mostly holds off until the afternoon/evening. I keep saying to DH that I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, though. This is my fourth pregnancy in 18 months and I know that there's no reason that outcome won't be different, but none of them have been viable yet, you know? I don't know if seeing a heartbeat today will change that since my other IUP had a weak heartbeat at 8 1/2 weeks that was gone by 10. I'm only 6+0 today, though, so there's no guarantee we'll even see a heartbeat.
Edit: Sorry if this is grim... I just reread it and realized how dark it sounds. I swear I'm not depressed, just wishing I had a time machine or a crystal ball.

@karenbme: sounds like our nausea is the opposite. for me i get nauseous if i don't eat. but glad you can stave it off somehow i guess!
i am holding out so much hope for you that this time will be different!! but i understand it must be hard not to feel that way, plus maybe it is partially self protective. these early weeks just go so slowly before you can start to feel more certainty. but hopefully each milestone that you pass you will feel less & less worried. fingers majorly crossed for a good report today!!!

@karenbme: I totally get it. Even though we saw a strong heartbeat, I'm also thinking, why should this time be different? I'm trying not to get attached to the pregnancy until we get our nipt testing back. So much luck today for your ultrasound! 6 weeks is hard since it's right on the border of expecting to hear the heartbeat.

@nwm: I was never a breakfast person and my problem is I get sick if I eat more than about a handful at a time. So I'll have half a piece of toast before I leave for work (my lab is happy to help with the other half) and then an applesauce cup at like 10 am, but by noon I'm hungry enough that I have to eat more, and it's all down hill from there. Thanks for the positivity though, I try to be positive, but it's really hard.

good news from the ultrasound! strong heart beat and measuring at 7+1. my due date was updated to november 18! i am super relieved. my dr said spotting can be very normal early on so she wouldn't subject me to any further exam given that the US was looking good. i go back again in 3 weeks for the NIPT.
@Chuckles: thank you !!
@karenbme: you're almost there!

@nwm: Congratulations! That's such good news!
@Chuckles: Thanks. It's nice to have someone else on here who knows what it's like. It sucks because with each prior pregnancy it's been more positive and exciting, but I just can't get there this time for whatever reason.

So it’s good news all around today. Baby measured 1 day ahead and had a nice strong heartbeat! Next appointment is in 2 weeks for my “first” visit with all the labs etc.

My sense of smell is through the roof. I currently can't sleep because I can smell DS's diaper genie despite both our doors being closed and his door being across and down the hall 12 feet from mine. I am tempted to snuggle with a bottle of shampoo to cover the smell.

@nwm: @karenbme: I love this! Keep growing, babies!
I spent the last week feeling panicky about my lack of symptoms. Then yesterday and today I’ve had AWFUL vertigo and nausea. We’re visiting my brother and SIL and told them we’re expecting after I threw up the second time Fingers crossed I don’t feel sick in the car for the 4 hour drive home tomorrow!
@Ms. RV: that’s awful! The thought of it is making me sympathy sick for you, ha
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Ms. RV: Oof, that’s rough. I’m right there with you. I keep thinking there’s something bad in our fridge. DH cleaned it out day before yesterday, but I still smell something every time I open it. Not the same, but you’re not alone with the crazy nose.
@rattles: Sorry you’re feeling gross, but also hopefully it’s giving you peace of mind. 🤞 that the car ride home is uneventful. Long car trips are the worst for me.
I’m headed on an overnight work retreat this afternoon, and hoping I can get through it without getting called out for not drinking. I don’t know what the sleeping arrangements are, but if we’re doubled up in rooms I’m sure I’ll end up telling my roommate because I don’t want anyone to think I’m going to get them sick.

quite an active morning over here. went for a run and then started actively bleeding red blood. i called my DH assuming the worst and we went down to the doc midday. ultrasound showed that the baby's growth is on track and heartbeat remains strong, but they were able to identify a SCH. the doc was pretty comforting about it although she did put me on pelvic rest and no running until my next appt at 10 weeks. she said typically it's not a problem if it resolves in the first trimester, which most do, but to come back if i experience more or continued severe bleeding.
eesh. of course then i went down a bit of a google rabbit hole, which was less comforting, so just going to try to set that out of my mind. seems like this little bean is a fighter! also, the doc said all the growth is on track based on ultrasounds but thought the nov. 18 due date was too aggressive because it was based on LMP and my cycle is so long and growth is a bit behind that. so she moved me up to my sono due date which is nov. 21. both my babes have been so late i am just hoping i don't become a december mama!
@Ms. RV: oh man, diaper genie smell is not a fun one! maybe you can get some nice flower sachets to keep under your pillow? shampoo sounds like a good solution though : )
@rattles: ugh i hope you are feeling better and that your ride home wasn't awful!
@karenbme: hope the work retreat and not drinking are going well! ugh also hope your nausea isn't too bad. i went to a work dinner last week and had convinced myself no one would pay attention to my non drinking until one of the partners i work for a ton said "you're hardly drinking anything. you're not pregnant AGAIN are you?!" omg. i laughed it off. it is going to be weeks until i can tell people at work. i honestly want to wait months.
how is everyone else doing?
persimmon / 1419 posts
@nwm: Oh wow, I can’t imagine how stressful your morning must have been. If your doctor doesn’t seem worried, I would take that as a sign that it will likely be alright. I hope you’re able keep busy and avoid googling. Easier said than done, I know.
The work retreat went fine. Thankfully no one commented on the fact that I wasn’t drinking. One of my coworkers was on an antibiotic and made a big deal about how bummed she was that she wasn’t drinking, so I think I flew under the radar.

@nwm: that sounds scary, but SCH is pretty common I think. My doctor saw one a few weeks ago at my 5 week ultrasound. She wasn't concerned at all and it was almost gone at 7 weeks.

Hi there. I’ve been stalking this board since the moment I found out I was pregnant (I used to be an active HBer but stepped away several years ago). Most of my friends and online mamas are out of the baby stage so I figured I’d hop back on, with a new username this time (because it’s kind of like I’m starting all over anyway!).
I am due with baby number four AROUND November 27. My first appointment is tomorrow, which is just a “confirmation of pregnancy” appt (essentially a urine sample test), at which I will schedule my first scan, which will hopefully be on the 18th or 19th.
I have three little ones and my youngest will be four when the new baby comes.
I am very tired, no nausea YET, and I have told two close friends, online friends, and my sister.
Congratulations mamas and thanks for letting me pop in here!

@karenbme: ha, nice! and thanks, you are right.
@Chuckles: thank you, yeah, that is good to hear about your experience and definitely what my doctor's attitude was. just scary in the moment to see so much blood at once.
@Beebeeholiday: welcome!

@nwm: oh man! I bet that was scary! I’m glad your babe is still snuggled in tight. It is encouraging your dr isn’t worried!
@karenbme: plot twist: your coworker “on antibiotics” is also pregnant I feel like that’s the oldest excuse in the book!
@Beebeeholiday: another mama with #4! Welcome!

Is there anyone who doesn’t have *any* nausea at all yet?
I am not going to lie; it’s making me quite anxious.
I had pretty nonstop nausea at this point with all of my previous pregnancies. If I didn’t have three positive pregnancy tests a couple weeks ago, I wouldn’t even suspect I’m pregnant!
(Not complaining about feeling good, but I know nausea is a sign of healthy pregnancy and doubling HCG.)

@Beebeeholiday: Welcome! There are a lot of 4th time moms in this group, you’re in good company.
@bees_knees: That would be funny, but she has an infection in a wound on her back from a bad skiing accident she had last month. Unless it’s all a ruse...

@karenbme: maybe both...🤰
@Beebeeholiday: mine def kicked in later and hasn’t been quite as intense as previous pregnancies (although I’m sure it will get there ) I think it’s normal have less nausea in subsequent pregnancies!

@nwm: I mentioned it before, but I had an SCH with my second that presented in pretty much the same way. It resolved in a few weeks and everything ended up fine, but it was scary nonetheless!
@Beebeeholiday: Well, hey there! I'm in the same no nausea boat, and it is seriously SO weird. I have a ton of bloating and gas-like pains though, so I'm assuming everything is going along fine, but it makes me worry if I stop to think about it. My mom is speculating that my lack of nausea means I'll be having my third boy and my body is just used to them by now, but I can't really see how the sex of the baby at 6 weeks has anything to do with anything at this point

@bees_knees: when did yours kick in? I’m 6.5ish weeks but my dates are a little iffy.

@nwm: how scary! I’m glad all looks well and will keep my fingers crossed that it’s smooth sailing from here.
@Beebeeholiday: welcome! How fun to have another fourth time mama sharing a due date! If it helps, I had no nausea at all until two days ago. With my second, I didn’t have any until 8 weeks, and by 9 I needed hospitalization. I had none at all with my first! Every pregnancy is different and all that... I hope your baby keeps growing and you keep feeling great!
@bees_knees: @karenbme: that was my first thought about the coworker too
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Beebeeholiday: I'm also about 6.5ish weeks (somewhere between 6-7...only had one PP cycle so waiting for the US next week to officially date me!) and I had some twinges last week but it's really ramped up in the past few days. I second @rattles in that every pregnancy is different!
@rattles: @karenbme: I think I think she's pregnant because you mentioned she made such a to do about it. Soooo maybe she's overcompensating because she's actually pregnant Can't wait to hear one way or the other in a few weeks

Ugh. I'm totally freaking myself out. My boobs are still a little sore and fuller and yesterday I hardly shed any hair when I was showering, but I haven't had any nausea since Sunday morning. Weird smells aren't really bothering me anymore, and I'm way less bloated, so I'm just feeling less pregnant overall. I'm 8 weeks today. I'm so glad I have another ultrasound tomorrow, but it's totally affecting my mood today.
clementine / 830 posts
@Chuckles: sorry it is affecting your mood! with my second pregnancy, i had nausea that started really early and then ended really early, probably around where you are. i definitely recall having a time period from late first tri to mid-second tri where i barely felt pregnant at all (then i started to feel exhausted and grouchy and that lasted pretty much through the end :wink:). your body is probably just adjusting to all the hormone waves! but glad you have the US tomorrow to give you some peace of mind : )
persimmon / 1495 posts
@nwm: Thanks. I appreciate the reassurance. I'm really hoping I'm just getting used to being pregnant. How are you doing? Any more bleeding?
clementine / 830 posts
@Chuckles: fingers very crossed that's what it is! i'm doing fine, thanks. bleeding has slowed way down to just a tiny bit of spotting so definitely hoping it keeps up the trend.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Chuckles: I'm sorry you're feeling anxious. I'm glad you have another appointment tomorrow, hopefully it will put you more at ease. I keep trying to remind myself that after seeing a heartbeat even at 6 weeks miscarriage risk is less than 10%, at 7 weeks (I think that's what you were at your last appointment, right?) some studies have it all the way down at 5% or less, so it's much more likely that everything is fine and you're just getting off a little easier this time.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@bees_knees: @rattles: It's possible. I feel like she's the type to make a big deal if even she's not covering something, though. And my office will be in trouble if two members of our leadership team need to be out around the end of the year, so I'm kind of selfishly hoping she isn't.
persimmon / 1495 posts
@karenbme: Thanks! I was reading tons of statistics last night trying to reassure myself, too. And, of course, early pregnancy is such a mindf*ck. I've been feeling fine all day, even the cafeteria smell didn't bother me, but then I had a random gagging fit in the middle of my classroom this afternoon.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@Chuckles: I’m glad for you (and jealous) that you have an ultrasound tomorrow. I hope all is well and you are just blessed with a fairly easy pregnancy this time!
@nwm: glad to hear the bleeding has slowed down!

@nwm: That must have been so scary withthe SCH! Hopefully it resolves so you can get off pelvic rest.
@Beebeeholiday: Welcome!
