@katsupgirl: Oh gosh, I think he was drooling and nibbling on his thumb constantly for a few weeks (maybe a month), then we noticed a little hole looking thing on his gums, then a week later, his first tooth cut through and a few days later the second on cut.
@LuLu Mom: Oh goodness, I hope she isn't the extreme case you mentioned. Hopefully you can get the appt with the allergist sooner!
@MrsF: That's sounds so cute!
@hilsy85: awww how sweet. He isn't making as many sounds as Leo, but he just started like two days ago. He makes this dada and tata sound.

@mrskc: We have a babbler, but she won't mimick us yet, i've been working on momma and dada, but she just smiles big and does this lovely high pitched squeal instead! She does do "pup" for when I say "puppy"

@hilsy85: We don't have a baby who pulls up either, I'm glad we aren't the only one, I was getting concerned we were behind. She is arming crawling and being more independent though, already showing she's a "do it myself" kind of kid!

@LuLu Mom: I feel like often the babies I "know' online are more advanced than the ones I know IRL! No babies I know IRL that are around LO's age are crawling or pulling up on their own yet...makes me feel better

Blah...AF returned today! I had a nice run I guess
Have the rest of the BFing ladies gotten AF yet? I was hoping I'd be one of the lucky ones who didn't get it as long as I was nursing!
How's everyone else doing? It is hot hot hot here in NYC--how are your LOs doing in the heat? L seems to be ok but he gets somewhat lethargic so I try not to keep him out long and we take his sippy with ice water in it everywhere with us.

Jumping back into this board since I have time right now!
@hilsy85: Elliot gets lethargic too and sweaty and...ugh. But he loooooooooooooves being outside. Luckily my parents have a pool so we can spend time outside and then take him for a dip to cool off. He also seems to be drinking a lot more water so I make sure we have a sippy with us at all times. It's hard for me to get motivated to take him out when it's this hot though...it's sooo much easier to stay inside with the AC but I know that he's just itching to escape the house!

@hilsy85: I got mine 7 weeks pp! ugh! it's been regular since. go fig, since we aren't trying for #2 for a couple years lol.
squash / 13764 posts
@Running Elley: that is SO nice that you have a pool nearby! I make do with a macguyvered water table, as I put on IG, lol. I would be out more if it were up to me--I go stir crazy sitting in the house. I need to find out which parks near us have sprinklers!
squash / 13764 posts
@sorrycharlie: yeah we're not trying til at least this time next year...blah. I guess I need to stock up on tampons!

@hilsy85: Aw man to AF returning! Mine still hasn't shown up.
Ok I feel like a complete mom failure, but DS doesn't know how to use a sippy cup. How did you all get your LOs to learn? Did you use a straw one or something else? We have the zoli. I guess I just need to put water in there and let him figure it out?
He just cut two more teeth yesterday. They look like his top lateral incisors. The ones just outside the center two. He doesn't have the center two though, so he's going to look like either a red neck baby or a vampire. lol They almost look like the canines but I thought those come in last?
bananas / 9357 posts
@hilsy85: I think we may start trying next summer too. I thought at first about starting in the fall but I think we'll push it back a little longer.
coconut / 8681 posts
@hilsy85: I'm soooooo stealing your water table idea! Have you thought about getting a little blow up pool so L could sit in it too? Do you have any kind of balcony or deck or something? I've even used ours in the kitchen
coconut / 8681 posts
@mrskc: We used a straw cup from Target and he picked it up right away! The one that we have you can squeeze the bottom to make water come up through the straw so he knows what it's supposed to be doing. And then he figured it up quickly after that. Yay for more teeth! And baby vampires are probably cute lol. I know E is working on some but I can't figure out which ones! It really seems to me like he's getting more on the bottom but he only has his bottom middle too. I would think that top would come next? Idk!
squash / 13764 posts
@mrskc: we also use the zoli. He figured it out in a day or two, I bet AJ will pick it up quick!@Running Elley: we do have a balcony, but I just don't know how we would empty the pool..? WOuld we dump the water into the sink? Ha I would feel bad if it leaked all over our downstairs neighbors balcony!
coconut / 8681 posts
@hilsy85: Lol that's true...I didn't think of that! Maybe empty it into the bathtub? I don't put a ton of water in ours, just enough for him to sit in and get wet. My extremely nervous self won't let me fill it up very full
bananas / 9357 posts
@Running Elley: Oh ok. I guess I just need to offer him water. I never think about it though. Usually it goes bottom middle then top middle but I guess it's not true for every baby! obviously my LOs are not coming in in typical order.
@hilsy85: I always forget about the sippy cup. I need to remember we have it and offer him some water in it. I did once but the dang thing was leaking and he just wanted to play with it.
coconut / 8681 posts
@mrskc: I started just always keeping it on his high chair tray and after he eats breakfast I dump the water out, rinse it and before lunch I fill it up again. It goes in the dishwasher at the end of the day I've only recently started offering water to him between meals and he seems to gobble it up so I guess it's time for him!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@mrskc: @hilsy85: We are thinking of starting next summer too as long as we have E's medical issues squared away. We have discussed pushing it back if that's stil an issue, but fingers crossed we get it solved here in the next few months!
E has a sippy cup, she never figured out the straw one, we use one with a big rubbery top (Nuby I believe is the maker) she chews on it and knows how to use it but isn't all that interested. If she really needs water I stick it in a bottle and she will drink it. She also loves drinking from my water bottle

Hi ladies! M uses a zoli cup fairly well now but it took forever. She just played with it like a toy for a month or so. She especially likes to use it when I'm drinking out of a cup with a straw. I think she drank about 6 ounces total of water yesterday and that was a record. It was 95 degrees though. We've been using the baby pool every day in the yard. It's been perfect for that fussy afternoon time before DH get home. I usually fill it up in the morning so it can heat up - yesterday it was so hot I had to put ice in it before she could use it!
@mrskc: M cut those two around the middle teeth last week and I totally thought we were going to have a vampire baby too! This week the top middle started coming down though and now they're all sort of even so it looks a little more even than I had thought Our poor babies and their teeth! I feel so bad for her.
bananas / 9357 posts
@LuLu Mom: I hope you E's issues get resolved soon!
@MrsF: lol you give me hope his middle two will come down soon and he won't look like lil vampire. It seems like he's still teething pretty bad so maybe they will cut through soon.

@hilsy85: No AF here yet --- which is surprising! I'm only nursing 3x a day now -- morning, night and i pump once a day at work, or nurse him if i'm with him. He's also been STTN for about a month now (10ish hrs)... i'm guessing it's not far away. We are going to start trying again in the Fall. DH wants to start now, but I just want to wait a few more months since i'm starting a new job & all.
I forgot about the sippy cup! I started introducing one a little while back and he mostly just chewed on it - I should bring it back - or give it to our nanny/daycare lady to give to him actually. I should try a straw one too.
No teeth for us still! J will be 8 months old tomorrow!!!

@LuLu Mom: @hellobeeboston: @mrskc: eek! How fun would it be if we all were pregnant at the same time again!
@mrskc: I mainly started offering the water to help with the constipation...but I think he really likes drinking it now! That's so funny about his teeth; we are still toothless.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@hellobeeboston: No teeth here either, we are 8m 5d now, and still nothing!!
C is down to three 8oz bottles/day of formula, and it's a struggle to get the middle bottle finished! She has a cup + straw now, I put 2 tbsp of apple juice in with the water so she is more keen to drink it to ensure she is (hopefully) plenty hydrated. She is clueless on a sippy cup! She eats like a pig, loves anything we give her, on a combo of food chunks and puree's, where we are (home, on the go, at the cottage, etc) dictates what kind of food she gets sometimes (between chunks/pieces and puree's/puches)
Sleeping was going well, but as per my facebook post, going down is currently h-e-l-l as she just pulls up in her crib and screams, and this is so far worse than CIO sleep training, it's straight up awful.
DH and I were of course going to start TTC mid-July, but now with D&C/scope stuff July 8th, I have no idea what the timeline will be to TTC after that, will have to wait and see I guess.
honeydew / 7283 posts
I'm impressed that you guys are talking about TTC. In so many ways I still feel like an overwhelmed new mom of one I think we'll start trying in the spring, but it's still hard for me to imagine life with more than one!

@mrskc: my LO is getting a weird side tooth before the center two.
grapefruit / 4712 posts
N prefers to just chew on his sippy cup rather then drink from it. He has finally popped through two bottom teeth. He has been a little fussy but otherwise same old N.
DH and I hope to be pregnant by N's First birthday. I miss being pregnant. Plus DH and I want our LO's to be close together in age.
Hope everyone is doing well. I have been reading just not posting too much because I have been so busy. I do like reading and keeping up with everyone.

@Beebug: we hit a major sleep regression at six months when A got crawling and then standing. Unless I nurse to sleep girlfriend just stands herself up again and hollers and / or cries. Thankfully we are back to only one or two wakeups at night but she definitely needs the nursing to wind herself down and relax. I've come to terms with it being part of her temperament which does make life easier on an emotional level.
@hilsy85: still no AF here but we're still nursing at least five times a day and once or twice at night.
@MrsF: I still have days where I feel totally overwhelmed!
I think we'll probably pull the goalie late this year once A is at least a year old and then maybe get serious about trying in early-mid 2014. It took us twelve months to get our BFP with A so who knows what will happen with number two!
In other news, Miss A had eight teeth at eight months and is an absolute menace with all her crawling and standing! Nothing is safe and I'm forever hooking bits of crap out of her mouth and retrieving her from under the furniture and all the places she's not supposed to be going!
And now for a picture...

@Kemma: us too! Nursing 6 or 7 times a day, including once overnight...and still that annoying AF showed up. Oh well...I can't believe she has so many teeth!!! She is so cute! @Beebug: Ugh I hope all that stuff gets figured out easily/with as little pain and disturbance to you as possible!!! I'm glad you have an appt soon!
bananas / 9357 posts
@hilsy85: that would be so cool to be pregnant again at the same time!
@MrsF: hehe I definitely still feel overwhelmed at times.
@Kemma: Awww she's so cute! And wow! 8 teeth. I'm impressed. I love her toothy grin.

@hilsy85: butting in, ebfing and AF came back at 4.5 pp! BOOOO. second cycle was 56 days later, third cycle was 28 days after that! WEIRD.
I'm stalking and joining this thread even tho we have a Nov thread, because I love y'all OCT mamas too
A seems to be on the "slower" side as far as crawling, and you mamas reassured me that it's a-okay!! So ty for that!
squash / 13764 posts
@mrsjyw: ugh boo to AF! I wonder if my cycles will be weird as well. They were pretty regular pre baby...and LO still isn't crawling either. He has, in the last few days, just started getting up on all fours and rocking, but then he face plants I think he'll be crawling by 9 months, but who knows!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@hilsy85: yep, he's done the getting up on all fours randomly here and there, but he still doesn't pull up, hates tummy time for the most part, and loves standing/walking with our fingers more! i'm not going to stress about it
i had long-ish cycles aroudn 36 days prebaby, so mine are really all over the place right now!
coconut / 8681 posts
@Kemma: Has she stopped doing the pull herself up to not go to sleep thing? E just started standing in his crib this past week and he's been using it to avoid his afternoon nap. It's killing me! I'm hoping it's just because it's new and exciting and that he'll stop eventually? P.S. She's ADORABLE! Love all those teeth!!
@mrsjyw: I seriously thought that E was never going to crawl. He just wasn't interested! He didn't start until 8 months One day he was just face planting and getting angry and the next day he was scooting all over the place! My ped said that it's totally normally for babies to not crawl until 10 months too! And isn't A interested in standing? I thought I remembered that. I think that E's interest in standing was the reason he didn't focus on crawling for awhile.

omg I cannot keep up with this thread! I stink. that's why i always fail at due date threads..I get so confused!
does anyone else's LO prefer a spout sippy over a straw? she does NOT understand to tip the spout up when the water level goes down to drink more..cause she really won't take a bottle, so she doesn't get it at all. so the straw would be easier but even with the playtex one that you squeeze, she can't seem to figure out how to suck hard enough to get much...she drinks a ton more from the spout ones (we use the playtex and then the tommee tippee)
coconut / 8681 posts
@sorrycharlie: I think that E does well with the straw ones because I would suck up water with my straw and let him drink from that for a long time before we started him on a sippy. Maybe it'd be good for practice? Idk! I say whatever she gets more with works!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@Running Elley: he does love standing, since like 3.5/4 months! i'm not going to worry about mobility until closer to a year!
@sorrycharlie: A does ok with either or, but actually does better with sucking/straw than tipping the sippy!
squash / 13764 posts
@sorrycharlie: maybe try with a regular straw, like ones they have at restaurants? Those are easier to suck from than the straws in baby cups, IMO--I have a hard time drinking from LO's zoli cup (yes I've tried it, lol) but he seems to manage somehow.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Running Elley: do you mean like let him take a sip?
@hilsy85: lol I tried that once and she spit a giant glob into my water!! i may pick up some plastic ones at the supermarket to fool around with.
@mrsjyw: I gotta get her used to a straw if she won't tip it, haha - it's a little frustrating after she drinks the top 1/3-1/2 to have to hold it for her! then she gets SO mad because she wants to do it herself, so she throws the cup across the room. sigh.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@mrsjyw: @hilsy85: I'm glad we have some others who aren't crawling! M has been getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth for two weeks now, but no forward movement. Her little friends in our playgroup are crawling everywhere. She gets really frustrated!
