@Beehive: Welcome your little guy is a cutie

@mrskc: We still have a terrible night routine. Alia will only sleep while co sleeping with me. I bought a rock n play today so I'm hoping that she will sleep in it. She hates her bassinet.

  2. mrskc

@Mrs.B: let me know how you like the rock n play. I was thinking about trying it. Alex will only sleep in his bouncy chair or next to me in bed but I don't sleep well with him in my bed.

My baby has refused to nap longer than 30 minutes today. He seems to only want to nap in someone's arms. Lets hope this doesn't continue all thru the night.

@hilsy85: $200 frikin dollars!?!? Ours is $25 an hour! And I've only used like 3 hours since LO was born. $200 is absurd? Is it a private practice or hospital? (Mine is through our hospital)
@mrskc: mine is phasing out his long naps too! I don't know if its just this week or if this is his new thing. I'm scared:/

@mrskc: Alia also doesn't nap unless laying with me or in the Ergo while I'm dling house work. Rock n play wasn't a huge success but A has a cold (we both do) so it is really disrupting her already horrible sleep. Good thing she doesn't fuss much or I might go crazy during the day.

Hi all! I feel like i've been out of the loop, been reading along though, especially in the middle of the night! Me & James are doing really well - trying to figure out how to start pumping once in a while.

Just ordered these holiday cards/birth announcements from Minted:

    http://www.minted.com/product/holiday-photo-cards/MIN-2F3-HYC/silent-less-nights

    cute right?!

@hilsy85: did you call the LC to come back? $200 isn't ideal, but if it makes everything work better for you then I think it's worth it! I had an LC come week 1, and it was the best $100 I've ever spent for 40 minutes of someone's time!

@hellobeeboston: SUPER cute! I need to get our pics taken for our cards.....!

LO nursed once (3:30am) between 9:30pm session and 9am next morning......feeling lucky.....she is doing so.much.better on her side!

@TurtleDoves: ugh I know. NYC prices I guess! @hellobeeboston: I haven't called her yet...she came when LO was a week old and was very helpful, I just hate spending that amount of money. I might try to hold out until the next La Leche League meeting in my area to see if that would be helpful. It's not til early Dec. but that's not so far away! Also, those cards are SO cute!! We finally got our birth announcements, I have to post a pic in the fbook group. @Beebug: omg that is amazing! Leo is still waking up twice a night, usually around 2 and around 5:30.

@Tidybee: sorry to hear you're still having bf'ing troubles Maybe as she gets bigger/her mouth gets bigger, her latch will improve? I've heard that's often the case, which is why things get better at 6-8 weeks (they kind of grow into our boobs, I guess!).

  9. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@Mrs.B: maybe after she gets over her cold her sleep will improve. Sorry the rock n play didn't work out as well as you'd hoped. I'm still debating getting one.

@hellobeeboston: adorable! I was going to send out birth announcements then holiday cards but I have yet to get my newborn photos! Ugh I'm so annoyed with our photog. I think I'll just send out a holiday card like you.

@Beebug: I'm jealous! AJ slept 5 hours last night followed by waking up every hour after that. I don't know what's going on with him. I feel like we're going backwards as far as sleep goes.

AJs sleep hasn't been great lately. Maybe it's the 6 week growth spurt? He refuses to nap anywhere for longer than 30-40 minutes. He isn't going as long in between night feedings and he takes forever to get back down. I'm just trying to remind myself that everything is a phase and this will pass.

@mrskc: yeah, we had photog issues and I just ended up taking my own pics and doing some photoshop magic to them... I can't hold up the Xmas/announcements anymore - but definitely still plan on getting photos taken!

I'm sure you're just in a weird phase with the sleep that will pass!!

@mrskc: you're right...it's all a phase and this craziness will all pass...they grow up so fast so I'm trying to enjoy every minute of it and not look at the negative (sleep deprivation)

@mrskc: I have an update on the rock n play.
I swaddled A's lower body last night with her arms free before laying her in it and it worked. She still woke up her usual 1.5-2 hours to eat but I didn't have to sleep with her. She happily slept in the rock n play 9pm-6am waking to feedat 11, 12:45, 3 and thenshe woke up at 6.

@mrskc: re sleep and forever to go back down, I finally gave up on C a couple nights ago (hour and a half of her not going down after nursing, me trying to get her to sleep, me exhausted!) and I finally just laid her in bassinet, paci in, and she was OUT cold, I was shocked, and did it again last night at 11 when I was ready for bed after she nursed, and she was out again, so just a thing to try if you're not already as it totally shocked me!

Another good night, down at 11, 4:10 to nurse, nursed one side for like 5 minutes, quick burp, back to bed until 8am.....nursed, walked for an hour, and she's still sleeping, I just had brekkie and debating trying for a nap, or getting laundry folded! I can get laundry done, but I can't seem to get it folded and put away in a timely manner.....lol.

Going to try Santa pics again tonight.....need to get holiday cards ordered!

Ordered baby carrier (Beco Gemini) yesterday, so excited!! I am sort of over the sling, it's not favourable to being out and about I find, home it's fine, but with colder weather sling just isn't practical for me....I need more layers!!

For those of you who will be paying for daycare for LO once not on mat leave, how much will you be paying?

The one at my work is $900, including meals/snacks, but doesn't take kids until 15 months. I am going to look at at-home daycare options in our neighbourhood and two more "big" daycares (like the one at work) and go from there. Not sure how soon I really need to look into it, and what I would do for 3 months with the one at work to fill that gap.

  16. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

@Beebug: I do in home daycare and charge $500 a month for 1+ years for full time with all meals included.

  17. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Mrs.B: Right You will be at home charging people! How many children do you take/max out at?

I think that's my main concern with the home daycares, it just seems like one Mom has so many children!

I also don't know between either home daycares or the "big" ones who will be the most flexible with my hefty vacation time, DHs summer's off when C would be with us! Also depending on when we have LO #2 I would probably just have her in part-time, full time when LO #2 first arrives, then part time to have her home too! Hmm....all so far away still, but going to come quick!!

    @Mrs.B: yay! That's awesome.

@Beebug: I'll have to try the paci in the middle of the night. Last night was better. He fell asleep while nursing and my DH just transferred him to the pack n play. We put a towel under the mat to angle it a little. Now if he would just sleep later then 6 am that would be nice. Oh and I have the beco carrier. Love it. We take it every where with us. Only way to go shopping with out him crying. Don't know daycare costs yet. Haven't really looked into it yet. We're considering a nanny until he's about a year then do daycare.

@Beebug: Since I have A now I will only watch 1 family of kids. Which is currently one 2yr old girl. I've been watching her since she was 6weeks. Her parents have been trying for another so I'mnot going to take anyother kids. I keep numbers low to ensure enough attention for all the kids. Before A was also doing drop in care and acting as a back up sitter for a few families.

@Beebug: I'm using the Ergo which is similar to the Becco and I'm loving it. It's the only way I can get housework done.

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@mrskc: Ahhh, love it!!!! He is so cute in there!!

@Mrs.B: Was going to go Ergo, but chose Beco to have options for C to face out or in...! Wish BRU sold Beco like Ergo, so we could have used GC's, but oh well.

Leo went down at 8:00 last night, I woke him up to eat again at 10 and he slept til 4am!! Then didn't wake up until 7:30. I REALLY hope this pattern continues.

I also had my 6 week post partum visit yesterday with my OB...what sort of birth control are you guys using/going to use? She kind of freaked me out about the mini pill not being very reliable, so I think were going to do condoms for now.

I also made an appointment with another Lactation counselor...she's supposedly famous (had a New York Times article written about her!) so let's hope she's able to work her magic on us!

@mrskc: he looks so comfy in there!
I've attempted the moby wrap a few times now, and he seems to like it ok.

Been reading this thread regularly, especially since C decided to nurse every 2 hours yesterday, but have not had 2 hands free to respond!

@hilsy85: I hope the LC goes well. I had an amazing one in NYC when we were at my BIL's during the hurricane, so let me know if you need her contact info.. What's L's issue? I thought C and I had turned a corner with the new reclining position and she seemed to have a deeper latch. However, she is still preferring to latch really shallow and I now have a blister on each nip. I really don't want to pay for another LC visit because I know what the problem is...it's just getting C to adjust and keep doing it!
@mrskc: C would not go into the carrier yesterday and I ended up having to hold her all day to keep her from crying. Now I have her in the K'Tan and she's totally passed out! Hoooray for eating breakfast!
@hellobeeboston: We got the same birth announcements!! They're so adorable.

When we were decorating nursery and I was looking for wall decor, one of you posted a link to a site/page with a whole bunch of downloadable either cute sayings, patterns, etc. It was an awesome page with way more than baby related stuff......

Do you think I can find that link? We switched computers in Sept, I think that's half my problem!

  27. hilsy85

    squash / 13764 posts

@Tidybee: Thanks! hopefully this one is as good as I've heard she is. To be honest, I'm not REALLY sure what the issue is...I have pain when he latches and sometimes after he nurses/while he nurses. I'm not sure if it's related to his lip tie (which we didn't have clipped when we had his tongue tie clipped, because the first LC told us that a lip tie usually isn't really that relevant in breastfeeding) or if it's because he also has a shallow latch or a bad latch. I'm thinking it's the latter, because some nursing sessions are good and some are not so good. I guess i just want her to confirm it, and if she thinks we should have his lip tie clipped, I guess we'll do it (even though at almost 6 weeks old, I'm afraid it will really hurt him now so I'm not really sure). Sorry to hear you have blisters! That's one good thing--even though I have pain, my nips at least aren't blistering/cracking anymore. Have you gotten a prescription for all purpose nipple ointment? It is AMAZING at helping to heal nipples--seriously works in like 2-3 days. See if you can get a prescription from your OB or your pedi, it works wonders.

@hilsy85: I have my 6 week pp visit in 2 weeks, and DH and I still skirt around the birth control issue. We both don't want me to go back on the pill. In my totally non medical opinion, I think the pill caused my TTC difficulty. In the 10 years of taking BC, I could never find the "right" pill, so I tried a variety. 3 years ago, we switched to condoms and while annoying, i felt so much better than when on the pill. Well, we got spoiled after a year of TTC and don't really want to go back to them. However, I think that's what we'll end up doing. During TTC, I also temped and charted, so I'm thinking of maybe doing that and then using condoms around O time.

  29. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

@hilsy85: I've never had a good experience with BC so we are just going to use condoms around the time I O.

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@hilsy85: No idea what we're going to do with regard to BC......I was on the needle 9 years prior to TTC, and so the idea of periods again isn't even that fun, but I won't go back on the needle until definitely no more babies!

DH and I have never used condoms, lol....would be sorta funny of all times to start using them, buuuut definitely potentially necessary.

My 6-week appt is next Tues!

Date night tonight!! Parents watching LO, DH and I going to Under Armour Friends and Family Warehouse sale, SO excited, lol...then to dinner.

Last night was semi-rough, she didn't want to go down, she did, then when she woke, nursed she was WIDE awake for an hour, hour and a half, caved and brought her in bed, wouldn't settle, was fussing I took her out as DH needed to sleep, went in front bedroom and she finally went (I may have fallen asleep first, lol) She is out cold on my lap right now....lazy babes!

I'm pumping and feeding Elliot until we get my new breastfeeding issues worked our but I don't want to overfeed him. At the same time I dont want to feed him less than he's used to getting. Gah!

@hilsy85: hope the LC helps! My OB gave me a prescrip for the mini pill. He told me it was just as effective as reg BC. Hmmmm maybe I need to do my own research into it.

@Tidybee: I have the k*tan as well. Love it!

I had my 6 week pp appt on Monday. I got a prescrip for the mini pill but still debating if I want to take it. I hate condoms tho. Anyone hear if the mini pill hurts supply? My OB says it doesn't but I've heard people say it does.

@Beebug: have fun at your date night! We need to do one soon.

OMFG! My newborn photog! So we did the shoot when he was ten days old. Exactly 5 weeks ago. She told me it would take two weeks. Two weeks rolls on by and I wait an extra week before inquiring with her. She told me she had a death in the family. Ok understandable. Then she was leaving for Hawaii that week and told me she would send it before she left. Ok fine. Well days and days go by and I never get it. I inquire again and she said no one was home to sign for it. She said she picked it up at the post office and is resending it. This was last Friday that she supposedly sent it. Well I finally received it today. The postage is dated the 27th (yesterday). I go to put it in my computer and it's blank! Ahhhhhh! I'm so mad. Just sent her another message. I held back being rude. So now I'm on here venting. I think she never sent it when she said and she's been lying to me. Argh. Now my son will be 2 months old by the time I get out birth announcements.

Well my photog is dropping off the new disc to my house....

Last couple of nights have been better. Last night he went down for 4 hours and then 3 then 2. He was a crying mess right before bed tho. And he had crazy spit up yesterday. I think i went thru 10 burp cloths. Now he's napping in the swing. The swing has been great for putting him to sleep for a nap. Hope everyone is doing well.

    @mrskc: I wrecked date night....

    As per this post:

    http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/christmas-plans-where-to-meet-in-the-middle-long

and the MIL drama, I brought it up, lightheartedly and even said I would stay there, but it went sour and downhill FAST. We both were upset and apologetic by the time we got home, wrecked our night, he reacted way over the top to something I said and after I explained it, he felt so awful. It's both stressing us out way too much.

Chels was good with my Mom, but said the last hour we were gone you could just tell she wanted me, enough of bottle, enough no-Mom time! Interesting, makes me think twice about our day away on Dec 9th!

Last night was so weird, she was up to feed every 2-3 hours, I guess we've been spoiled with the sleep we've been getting, I am bagged today! She is stuffed up, not a full on cold, just stuffy nose, so I don't think she is comfortable when laying flat or on her side, and definitely no paci, she can't breathe. Let's hope it clears up soon.
