@dookie32: Welcome! So nice to see you "graduate" to this board with some of us from the IVF board!

@jaguar: oh my heart hurts every time I see a post like this from you. Hopefully you'll get some confirmation again tomorrow and maybe some peace as well. Hugs mama!

@jaguar: I've had that feeling here and there. It's really weird. I hope everything is okay at your appointment.

@MrsRcCar: I feel you! I also have two LOs and lately have been looking forward to the days that I work because I am worn so thin by them. On Monday I let DS1 watch a bunch of tv while DS2 napped so that I could nap. Oh well.

I am so nauseated this morning. I decided to skip my morning soda (I'm trying to back off of the caffeine), but apparently I need the bubbles to feel human. Ughhhhhh. Only an hour and a half until lunch.

@avivoca: I never want to drink it but then I have one and it settles my stomach. Every morning around 9.

@jaguar: Yeah, I get that feeling all the time. It's especially uncomfortable near my butt. Hope everything goes well at your OB appointment.

I'm trying to catch up on all your guys' posts but it's been a hectic morning so far. And the morning sickness seems to have gone away but my appetite is not back. I choked down a salad and now I feel like I wanna puke it all back up.

So we had our first ultrasound this morning! Everything looks great and we got to hear the heartbeat (178). I'm so relieved! They put my EDD as 10/7, even though the baby was measuring 9w1d, which is exactly what I am based in when I ovulated, so I'm keeping it as 10/12

    Here's our little gummy bear!

@avivoca: I feel you. I've successfully cut out all caffeine on a regular basis but I'm already getting cravings for a bubbly fountain drink. I let myself have one when I want but it ends up being all the time. Haha! I craved it with T at the end too.

I know I post this all the time but I'm afraid if I go too long in between updates I will forget something. Haha
I always quickly go into my notes on my computer where I have it saved and make changes, and then I'm like hey, might as well post it.

Olaf is still okay! =) Just gotta keep getting through one day after the other. Today I'm 8w6d. Baby measured 9w1d! Nice loud heartbeat through belly ultrasound (up in the 180's!) and we *think* we saw the little leg moving.

He thinks the pressure and cramping is just a bit of a uterine growth spurt, and to keep on keeping on. Next scan in a week. One day at a time.

I have been so busy lately and haven't had time to post.

Welcome to new ladies and it's great to see ultrasounds. I have to wait several more weeks for ultrasound.

Has anyone gone to interviews or been offered a new job while pregnant? I need advice not sure what to do .

  24. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@Boston terrier mom: I wouldn't bring it up until after you accept the position or if you are offered the position and need to negotiate time off for leave. Legally they can't consider it in the hiring process, but I still would wait until after an offer

@Boston terrier mom: My sister just started a new job this week and she is 18 weeks pregnant. She interviewed without mentioning anything, got the offer, and then told them when she called to accept. She felt like it hampered her ability to negotiate a higher salary a bit but it otherwise turned out completely fine. Just make sure you don't have to be there for a year before you can take maternity leave or some other policy like that.

On a short vacation from yesterday - Sunday, so tough for me to keep up, but...

    @Kitkat: @jaguar: AWESOME!

@Boston terrier mom: I interviewed for my current job right before I got pregnant with DD. By the time they made me an offer (they were kind of slow, it was a weird time) I was 8 weeks pregnant. I told the HR person when she called re: the offer, because I had to make sure I'd be eligible for short term disability and all that. It was no problem, except that the HR person told my whole team I was pregnant before I started, and I wasn't really telling anyone yet. Super awkward but worked out fine.

    Hope everyone's doing well!

@Kitkat: Cutie pie!!! Yay for a great scan.

@jaguar: Yay for great news all around. So glad Olaf is doing great and you are getting tons of TLC (i.e. scans).

@Boston terrier mom: A co-worker at an old job of mine was only a few weeks pregnant when she got hired. She didn't tell because it was so new and she wanted to make sure it was going to stick. When the time came, she didn't get all of the benefits (SDI and other CA state benefits) and the employer wasn't required to follow FMLA, but they gave her a 12 week leave, kept her job for her and then allowed her to drop down to 4 day/week. So pretty much a fairy tale ending! Too bad I'm not with that employer anymore...

I'm trying to figure out if my insurance will cover Mat21 and I'm getting the runaround with insurance. They say that they generally don't cover genetic testing but I can have the OB submit a test claim with the proper coding and see how it goes through. Really?! I'm solidly AMA.

  32. Amorini

    persimmon / 1132 posts

Anyone else doing first trimester screening (NT scan and/or NIPTs)? Mine is set for 3/25 at 12w6d!

Originally I found out that I was scheduled for Mat21 at 18 weeks and no one called to tell me! [Insert some frustration with my OB practice!] When they gave me the date of the appointment, I asked why so late? They said -- "oh we didn't know you wanted first tri screening." Um, I think I made it clear. Anyway, that got worked out and I'll have a NT scan, too, that day. I learned that my clinic will mostly cover Mat21 if my insurance doesn't and I'll just be responsible for around $200 of it. Phew.

It makes me nervous to schedule this screening stuff but I know that I will feel better knowing what we might expect.

  33. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@Amorini: we are skipping NT & doing the NIPT blood work since we have a history of losses with chromosomal issues. We will still do a 12 week scan, just not NT bloods. I have to book them in for a few weeks time but I'm too scared to jinx things.

  34. Amorini

    persimmon / 1132 posts

@jaguar: Oh, I'm such a newbie. I just read that NT scans can be really inconclusive and NIPT testing can help narrow things down (not conclusively, but with more certainty). Is that why you will skip it? Guess that makes sense, especially since it will likely give more anxiety during the wait for the NIPT results. Gulp, what did I just do!?!

  35. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@Amorini: NT scans and bloods just give you a ratio of risk. The NIPT testing gives a much more accurate figure of whether there is a problem or not. My OB thinks there's no point doing both, but he does recommend a scan at 12 weeks regardless, to check on baby's overall health. Whether you choose to do the NT or NIPT bloodwork is totally up to you! Most people are low risk and just do NT.

  36. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

Also, I had a horrible result from NT screening with Georgia. I was 27, no history of anything at that stage, and she came back as being 1:100 for Down Syndrome & other trisomies. We refused Amnio or CVS because of miscarriage risk (& because we wouldn't have terminated regardless) but it meant a LONG and very stressful wait until 20 weeks, to see if any more soft markers popped up.. and I didn't breathe easier until she was born.

I don't want that this time around. If it's a YES to chromosomal issues, I'd rather know early. What-if's or Maybe's are NOT what I need this time around, I"m anxious enough already!

  37. waiting4you

    apricot / 344 posts

@Amorini: @jaguar: Thank you both for posting about this. I don't know much about this, but know enough that we want to go ahead and get the NIPT blood work done. I've heard you can do as early as 10 weeks, is that correct?
Interesting about the NT vs. NIPT vs. both...I'll have to talk to the new OB about this.

  38. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@waiting4you: I believe it's done between 10-14 weeks. But in terms of a scan, they say it's best to be as close to 12 weeks as possible.

  39. waiting4you

    apricot / 344 posts

@jaguar: hmm well that throws off our gender reveal plans by a bit but that's ok. Health is more important that a party!

  40. Amorini

    persimmon / 1132 posts

@jaguar: Apparently, they also do the special heart scan (fetal echocardiogram?) at this scan which is the new standard for IVF babes. So I guess I'm going to do the whole enchilada (NT, NIPT, and all the other non-invasive stuff) and just hope luck is on our side again. Not that he wouldn't already come, but this is a mandatory appointment for DH! He is Mr. Cool, Calm and Collected, even in the face of inconclusive crap news and, so far, has been the one to say, "I told you so!" when we get good news. Oh, he likes to be right for once!
