I have been having trouble posting all day! I've written out a response like 5 times and it keeps disappearing! What the heck!
@winniebee: Yay! Happy to hear the good news!
@waiting4you: I'm buying my car seat this weekend. I'm not going to buy anything second hand this early though. If something happens, I wouldn't want to deal with reselling it. I'd just give my mom my purchases and receipts and have her return them.

Has anybody else had a weird ear popping/fluid thing? A bunch of times tonight, I've felt some pressure/noise/fluid in my ear (can you tell, it's really hard to describe!)--it's like the feeling/sound right before your ear pops except there's never a pop. About a half hour ago, it happened a bunch ofttimes in a row. Is this a pregnancy thing?!

@MFA_Lady: I have the same fluid buildup in my ears if I don't drink enough water...

Back from my weekend mom's retreat. It was great, but now I'm back to the daily grind. Nausea is intense all day every day. I'm debating about asking my OB for Zofran when I got back in April. Took it occasionally last pregnancy and definitely helped. Right now I'm trying to manage with small meals and ginger chews. Oh yeah, and I'm solo flying with the toddler to Indiana for a 2 week visit with family. Not sure how this plane ride is going to go with my current nauseous state...

@TFrances: Ooh, interesting. It has been tough for me to stay hydrated enough--maybe that's it!

@TFrances: what part of Indiana? I flew when I was pregnant with E and nauseous. The flight wasn't bad with medicication. Hope your flight is uneventful

@avivoca: Mother of..... My condolences. T didn't sleep for 3 days when he had it as a baby.

@avivoca: Aw, so sorry mama. Glad you at least know what it is, though. Hope she feels better so soon and that you steer clear.

I caught DH's cold (that we both thought was allergies) and now the post-nasal drip is making me throw up even more often! Any suggestions, ladies? I am working from home (thank goodness!) but sleeping is the worst b/c even sleeping sitting up isn't enough. 10w. I hoped I'd be done with MS by now, but this is making it so much worse!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@BUNBUN: ugh hang in there! My MS subsided around 10.5 weeks last time around.

@winniebee: Luckily, she slept through the night last night. I'm going to throw ibuprofen at her regularly to help with any pain she is having, though she says it doesn't hurt.
@mfa_lady: @BUNBUN: Thanks Ladies. I hope I do too, but I guess on the plus side, I get to stay home two days this week since she can't go back to daycare until next Monday.

@avivoca: We lucked out with a mild case of HFM in our house a couple years ago. We didn't even realize my son had it until my husband got a mild case (a few sores in his mouth). I managed to avoid it fortunately. Luckily, it was gone in a couple days.

@mand4: welcome!
Exhaustion is unreal!! I am ready for bed now at barely 2pm. Although to be fair I was ready for bed when I got up. Being pregnant with #3 is no joke with two crazy little boys.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@MrsRcCar: I feel you. With my first, I took a nap when I got home at 5:30 every day. Now, I just have to wait until bedtime because DD doesn't go to sleep until 7:30 or 8. And if I went to bed then, I'd wake up at 4AM the next day. Blah! Hurray for you for doing it with TWO!

@mrsrccar You mamas are amazing! It is definitely different this time around. With my first, I was working at a coffee shop, so I was up at 5am, but home for a nap by 3pm! Now, I'm still up at 5am with a demanding customer, but no nap. No complaints though, because when I told her mama's tummy hurt she said "it's okay, sweetie" and patted me while singing "mary had a little lamb."
on an unrelated note... I just polished off a box of shells & cheese. all. by. myself.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@mfa_lady: uh i know!
@MrsRcCar: 2 pm is the worst time of day for me as well. If i can power through, I'm ok. The times I've napped in the afternoon (twice so far, on the weekend) I had trouble sleeping at night so I'm just trying to deal at this point!
@mand4: impressive! I eat a box of bagel bites for lunch at least twice a week. Carb heaven over here!

Think it would be bad to live on smoothies for the foreseeable future? Nothing sounds good. Nothing.

@avivoca: Oh no! G got HFM when I was pregnant with #2 the first time, it was horrible. Hope she's ok xx

Update: met with the new OB for the first time/first OB appointment. I had faxed all the new patient paperwork last week, but somehow they lost it. Ugh! Had to do it ALLLLLLL over again. Super annoyed! Waited 45 mins to get in. Saw the MA who asked a million questions and obviously didn't understand how IVF works. She was asking when my last period was and trying to date the pregnancy based on that. I kept insisting that it was based on transfer date and the current size of baby A was right on at 9 weeks last week. She kinda gave me a "whatever" attitude. Again, I was annoyed. She left as I waited for the nurse practitioner to come in (another 30 mins in just the paper gown....ANNOYED). Appointment went well, the usual with a Pap smear added. Then came ultrasound. We expected to see a clearer pic than at the IVF dr....WRONG! They wheeled in this machine that looked like it was from 1975 and we got a terrible view. However baby A was wiggling like crazy this time! Then came time for B&C...we expected to see nothing or just an empty sac...but sure enough B&C were still there. The resolution was so terrible you could hardly spot a heartbeat on strong A, so B&C weren't showing up. They didn't measure anything, just confirmed "pregnant and triplets". They immediately labeled me as high risk and are sending me ASAP to the perinatologist. (Apparently that and because I'm 3 weeks in to 35 years old...ugh!) so now we are going to the perinatologist to do a super high resolution u/s to see exactly what is up. There is a CLEAR size difference still and I can hardly even make out that there are babies in the second sac but she did see them. So while we still aren't sure what's up, in my heart I don't think B&C are viable. My only worry now is, what if they don't "vanish" . What if a procedure needs to be done. Usually a vanishing twin would be gone by now, but we're quickly getting close to the 2nd trimester mark and they're still there.
I wish I was more excited for these appointments but honestly they just scare me now. It's so fun to see A doing so awesome but then there's the B&C situation that puts a damper on things.
Soooo....on to the next appointment, soon, with the specialist.

Oh, and I was encouraged to get a flu shot. I was hesitant at first but they assured that it was safe for baby so I agreed though I'm still having second thoughts. I've gotten flu shots in the past but not all the time. My husband, who's a paramedic, thinks flu shots are a "scam" and they cover so few of the strains that it's a crap shoot and not worth it. My head wasn't very clear since this was right after the u/s, but my thought was better safe than sorry. But was it?!
Thoughts? Anyone else encounter this?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@waiting4you: man what a dramatic visit. I'm glad they are sending you to a perinatologist. I've been to one in both of my pregnancies and they are great and the ultrasounds will be more clear and hopefully more definitive for you either way. As for the flu shot, I have gotten them in both pregnancies. But I would wait and get it in September when next seasons shot comes out. Those are the strains that your babies will be exposed to...unless I'm missing something I don't think there's much point to getting one now. The reason you get it while pregnant is to pass along immunity (such that it exists) to the baby. The baby can't get a flu shot until 6m. My husband is a physician and he always urges us to get them so I do and will.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@waiting4you: Oh, that paperwork thing would bother me. They lost my admittance paperwork at the hospital last time and I HD to answer all the stupid questions while I was in labor. Do you feel comfortable with the OB office? You still have time to switch. Also, I won't get my flu shot until after I have the baby. They will give it to me in the hospital.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@waiting4you: ugh, I can't believe they have such crappy ultrasound machines! (That's the same as the hospital scanner, it was rubbish!) - what a crazy time you're in. When will you get in to see the PROPER scan? We really need to get B&C dated and measured properly, and a good old heartbeat measure too.
*hugs*
I'm sorry this all isn't clearer for you hun. x

@avivoca: I didn't get to see the Dr today but will next visit. Honestly I'm not looking for a BFF, but I was hoping a first appointment would be faster than 2 1/2 HOURS! I do hope that some of the equipment they'll use in the future is more advanced but knowing now that I'll see a peri, I'm a little less concerned. The dr. Comes with great reviews and my sis in law also goes there. Also, they're one of the few female OB's that delivers at the hospital we want to be at (most advanced), and she's the chief of women's services and obstetrics at the hospital. So while it wasn't the best experience, I'm willing to deal with it.
As for the flu shot...I wish I would have known more about flu season, etc. I always err on the side of caution when it comes to protecting myself since my husband encounters so much at work that he can bring home to me. I'm really careful about keeping this as natural as possible but thought well getting the flu is worse for the baby than getting the shot and my chances of flu are probably higher due to hubby, so ok. They gave it to me today (arm is so sore!)
Wish I had known this was going to be a question today...would have done more research.

@waiting4you: As for flu shot, eh, personal decision. I am very pro vax but I find them a waste of time. (Except for the elderly/immune suppressed, etc.) x

@waiting4you: I asked my OB today specifically about the flu shot. She said I could get one if I wanted and she didn't have any concerns, but said it wasn't absolutely necessary since flu season is wrapping up (at least in my neck of the woods it is). She said to assess my personal situation and decide - am I around a ton of people who have already had the flu or have zero people around me had it, etc. I think I'm doing to skip it.
Had my first pre-natal appointment today. Thought this day would never come! Baby is doing well - measuring 8w4d and a heart rate of 175. Baby wiggled a bit during the US which I didn't expect. It was surreal and I'm glad we're on to the next waiting game/milestone. Weird but fun day

@jaguar: we'll get a proper scan at the peri, which they are trying to schedule for the end of this week or early next week. Which means we'll be at 10.5/11 weeks when they do the next scan.
On a fun note...has anyone started to document their "bump" yet? I took one pic a few days ago for a friend who knows that was begging me. Definitely weird to see it in a pic!

@waiting4you: I know people still getting the flu right now (my SIL currently has it). You do not want to get it when you are pregnant, because you could spike a high fever which could be detrimental. Personal choice, but there are reasons to get it right now. Sorry your appointment was not very helpful, hope you get some answers soon.
