    @waiting4you: last pregnancy I had an extra scan since dd was measuring small at her anatomy scan. (Turns out she just was and still is, a tiny thing.)

    In a lot of ways that's the way I prefer it, especially since there still isn't a ton of research regarding long term impacts of extra ultrasounds.

    @waiting4you: I 'm sorry you were disappointed! Yeah, unfortunately there's usually only one dating scan, maybe the NT scan, and then the anatomy scan. Unless you have an issue or are Advanced Maternal Age. Honestly I prefer it that way - in my experience, the more you scan the more they can find little things that may be no big deal, but that can cause worry along the way

    I told my male boss I was pregnant yesterday and he asked if 14 weeks was early to be sharing the news and he commented that he thought most women announced around the 20 week mark. Ha! There's no hiding pregnancy at 20 weeks! He also asked if I planned to take the "full 3 months." Um, no, I plan to return to work while I have a tiny baby under the care of someone else even though I can get my full pay during that period... Ha. I didn't have the heart to tell him that employees actually get 18 weeks at our firm now (and, yes, I'll be taking all 18!). I know he means well but it was a funny conversation!

    @Shantuck: yeah, some times I think men just don't have a clue about this stuff! I had a coworker tell her male boss she was going to take 12 weeks and he told her he wouldn't be able to have her out that long. Hr got involved and explained to him if she wanted 12 weeks she got to take it.

    @waiting4you: Sorry to hear there was no scan.

    We are prepared for quite a few because my cervix will need checking because of the bleeding, etc.. but I'd much rather have less scans and a perfectly healthy baby. Can't win them all, hey?

    Bring on next week's morphology scan.

    I am so effing tired. That is all.

    Appointment went nice and quickly today. Love the sound of a strong heartbeat. My UTI from my first appointment was strep b, so I will be getting antibiotics for it during labor and I get to skip the swabbing. So basically this pregnancy is identical to my last one at this point.

    ETA: Anatomy scan is June 2!

    Looks like it's my turn to get struck with the lurgies Up all night shaking and sweating and wheezing, trying to get into the doctor's today to confirm if cold or flu.

    Uggg. Evening sickness has returned for the second night in a row. I tried to eat dinner after 7 (2 eggs with toast) last night and got sick. The nosebleed was a new bonus. Add cramping feet, backpain and headache and I feel like I've backtracked to 12 weeks

    Got my IPS results back last night, really low risk (risk is less than 1 in 15000) for both NT defects and chromosomal ones. So relieved! Anatomy scan is scheduled for next Friday.

    @jaguar: Hope you feel better soon!

    @cnidaria: Yay! Great news!!

    @BUNBUN: @jaguar: sorry to hear you aren't feeling well!!!! Feel better soon!

    @Shantuck: Whoa, your convo with your boss sounds like a scene from The Office... Talk about inappropriate and unnecessarily awkward, thanks to him. You are super generous to see it as funny and handled it so graciously!

    Funny you should mention that "there's no hiding pregnancy at 20 weeks." Well, maybe some girls can...I am 20w tomorrow and just told my boss yesterday (19w5d). I have some funny photos of how I hid the bump that I'll post. I mostly work alone in a satellite office so that helped but I also have a looooong torso. At my a/s last Friday, they said he/she was good-sized and tracking a little ahead weight-wise. Who knows! It's also my first pregnancy.:silly:

    Anyway, my boss took it well. There is no leave policy and FMLA doesn't apply so I didn't go in knowing what to expect. He's the owner/president, so pretty much he said to plan on using my sick and vacation days (no surprise), and beyond that, they would give me as much paid leave as they could reasonably afford. We didn't discuss how long but sounds like at least 3 months... maybe with me popping in towards the end sporadically, just given the nature of my work. So all told, it went well. It's not all men/bosses who are clueless fortunately!!!

    Okay, so these are my I-just-told-my-boss-I'm-pregnant-at-20-weeks (okay 19 and 5) photos! The last one -- the actual bump photo -- is blurry but you can see there is some actual bump to that bump!

    (I realize we have a bump thread but these are mostly bump-camouflage photos! )

    ETA: After I told my boss, I shared the news with my only female coworker... And she said she hid her pregnancy until 6 months!!!! What?! How?! And she is not a petite lady. I kinda get it though...it's a fast-paced business and no one really pays attention to what we look like. But still...6 months!?

    @Amorini: You look gorgeous!

    @cnidaria: Great news!

    @BUNBUN: Sorry to hear about the sickness.

    Well, the combination of antibiotics & preg-safe headache meds has helped.. I'm still sick, but feeling SO much better than a few days ago. Thank goodness!

    Counting down the next week until my morph scan at 19 weeks. 18+1 and still no definite movements.

  18. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

    @jaguar: I just started having "OMG that's baby and definitely not gas" movements last week. Kid poked me in the side yesterday. It was nuts.

    I went to Urgent Care yesterday. My back was killing me and that's how my last UTI started. I'm fine, urine was clean, but I am so, so uncomfortable. 20 more weeks of this.

    Anatomy Scan on Tuesday! It's also Election Day! I can't wait to vote!

    @jaguar: I'm still also not feeling any movement. Don't panic

    I now have a cold, we had to take LO to the childens hospital twice for what ended up being an ear infection. No one is sleeping well over here.

    @YouGotMe: No sleep is awful these days here too!
    But I have an awful cold DD has a faucet nose that when she lays down she coughs
    DH and her slept 80% of last night on couch so she was on his chest elevated! No fun!

    Sorry for all the sickness! I have a bad sore throat as well, and insomnia (can't fall asleep before midnight and my kids are up 630). We had our older sons birthday party yesterday. So much fun, so much work. Tired mama here.

    @jaguar: I'm 16 weeks and besides my 14 week scan where I felt big movement when he didn't like being prodded, I'm not sure I felt anything. I was feeling my second by now, every day, so I'm getting a bit nervous. I have an appointment Thursday and will be anxious for the Doppler.

  29. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

    @winniebee: I have the home doppler here and I can HEAR her swooshing around, it's just so disconcerting to not feel anything at the same time. So weird!

  30. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

    @jaguar: if you use home Doppler I don't think you have anything to worry about!

    @jaguar: So glad you're feeling some relief! Hope you have a speedy recovery!
    @cnidaria: Congrats!
    @Amorini: Well done on the camouflage and I'm glad to hear that the mat leave talk went well.
    @YouGotMe: @FaithFertility: @winniebee: Feel better, ladies!

    AFM, I can't feel any movement yet, and I'm 19w tomorrow. I heard him move on the doppler a few weeks ago, so that made me feel better

    Had another one of those horrid dreams last night. This time it involved a summer camp like thing, everyone ignoring me, then accusing me of white privilege. (lots more weird, but that's the basics) I woke up shaking... I hate pregnancy dreams. I want to go back to the awesome pregnancy sex dreams. These ones lately suck!

    I headed to the doc today for back pin and congestion. I've got a cold and maybe a UTI. They are sending my urine out for culture. In the meantime, I'm taking a sick day because I can't breath when I lay down due to congestion, so I'm super tired.

    Anatomy scan tomorrow!

  34. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

    @TFrances: I've had some pretty bad dreams too. It stinks!

    @avivoca: Hope the extra rest helps!

    Apparently when I'm sleep deprived I eat horribly. I just had bagel bites and a piece of leftover birthday cake for lunch. Bring on the lbs!

    Had my 16 week appointment this morning--HB was between 145 and 150, which is way lower than my daughter's ever was. Loved hearing the little stinker, though! They took blood to test for spina bifida, and I won't have another appointment until my anatomy scan in a month. Crazy! I forget how few and far between the appointments are at this stage of the game.
