@MsLipGloss: thanks doll! at least we have eachother! it's hard to watch your body change. Another of my fears is that i will have a giant baby.

I am kind of worried about the glucose test too. not because of excessive thirst, i haven't had that but i know it can be a pregnancy related thing too, my fear stems from my love of sweets! i love sugar. I eat most of it in the form of healthy fruits but its still sugar and i can clear a bowl of cherries like nobodies business. My plan is to have no sugar past 6 pm tonight and on through till the test. hoping that will help. Good luck on friday!!!

@lydg: welcome to team blue! when are you due?

    @mrsmccarthy i am due on 09/01!

yikes, I am so behind! I'll try to catch up later, I don't want to miss anyone. I am 25 weeks today and DYING of back pain. I'm an exaggerator, and this is no exaggeration..I'm in tears half the time, and I've got a high pain tolerance.

Is anyone else struggling with this? What are you doing to help it? Mine is SUPER low - right above my butt - and usually on the left side. It gets so bad that my left leg will give out on me. Ugh. Misery.

  4. matador84

    papaya / 10560 posts

@sorrycharlie : i've had the same thing off and on. i am sitting in my chair right now on my snoogle and it does help to take some of the pressure off my back. i won't take anything (that's just how i am), but i can relate--sometimes i will have shooting pain down my leg or have to limp because the pain is just searing.

hopefully it gets better for you!

  5. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@lydg: hmm..how does the snoogle work in a chair? are you in an armchair or like, office chair? I know one of the "positions" on the card that came with the snoogle was almost wrapping it around you like a snake, is that helping? I try to figure it out at night so it eases my back pain...if I lay on my side, girlfriend's new thing is having a meltdown (maybe she sinks to the bed and hates it? LOL I don't know.) so I try to recline. Sigh. Pregnancy..

    papaya / 10560 posts

@sorrycharlie : i'm sitting in an armchair. i kind of had to play with it to see what worked best for me. it's almost in half-i am sitting on half and my back is on the other half. i still have mild pain as a write this, but it gives some temporary relieft.

    @lydg & @MrsMccarthy: Welcome!

@sorrycharlie: I think I have pain in the same spot. I think it's the sacrum and it normally hurts between months 5 & 7, so the timing is right. We learned some massage techniques in our childbirth class last week that actually really helped. The big one was counter pressure where I just sat backwards on a chair (or on an exercise ball, leaning over a chair) and DH sat behind me and applied pressure to the spot. For me it's pretty much just to the right of my tailbone. Also there was some move where DH kind of pushed my back by my hips up and together. It's hard to describe but felt absolutely amazing! Maybe you can do some research on counter pressure? I hope you feel better soon and at least you can know that you're not suffering alone!

Glucose today and all went well. I had the lemon lime drink and it wasnt bad at all. just flat sprite. my doctor has the no news is good news policy so if i dont hear back by friday i am groovy. she also tested for iron levels which she said is more common to come back low than GD we shall see. I was so hungry afterward i scarfed down a burger and reeses peanut butter cups. enjoyed them too incase they are my last for a while. Other than that all is well. Baby is measuring 29 weeks at 28 weeks and 3 days, so only a few days ahead. HB is strong. next month is my last monthly before i start bi montly visits and then weekly. she will check baby's positon and all that at my next appt on July 11th. so exciting how close it is all getting.

Funny how every dr does things diff...I had my glucose a few weeks ago...not as bad as I thought! My next appt is on the 21st for a 4d sono and appt to follow!! Can't wait to see my little man!

Wow, there's a lot to catch up on!

We're rounding the corner into our third trimester, ladies! Exciting!

@lydg: Welcome! My due date is borderline, too (9/02), so I wondered which board to follow as well. I figured it's probably more likely that I'll deliver late than early, so I went with Sept.

@mrsmccarthy: Welcome! We're due date twins! I was really worried about the glucose test because I'm in the same boat as you are concerning sweets. I've been all about the fruit, and even candy, lately. I didn't really gain a lot of weight until I started making fruit smoothies for breakfast, so I thought maybe I wasn't doing so well with the fruit sugars. My results came in and the dr said everything was normal, which surprised me. I'm glad it seems to have gone well for you.

@mslipgloss: Good luck with your glucose test! My belly button is starting to stretch, too. According to DH it's starting to get shallower (I don't have a good view of the inside), but it's still an innie. I hear you on those powerful kicks, too. Every once in a while she'll hit he somewhere that it hurts, and it always surprises me. I've been trying to catch of video of her crazy kicking sessions to show DH my stomach jumping, but whenever I press record, she stops. Of course, once I stop recording she starts up again. This girl.

@sorrycharlie: I had a lot of lower back pain and pain on my left hip around 23-26 weeks. Yoga and stretching has really helped. Now I don't have much pain unless I do something out of the ordinary (ie. sit all day or get in a weird position), but I do make sure to keep up with my stretching even when I don't have time to do a full yoga session.

@skipra: Thanks for the tip on the counter pressure. I'm going to look into that.

I had my 28 week appointment on Monday. Everything looks good and they dumped a lot of info on me since we're officially in our third trimester. I also have to start monitoring the baby's movement. My appointments are every other week now. It feels like it went by so fast!

I started shopping, too. I'm trying to keep to things that I'm pretty sure people wont buy us (like cloth diapers, a mattress, etc), but I also picked up a huge bag of clothes at a garage sale because I couldn't resist the great deal on such nice brands. To be honest, I kind of regret buying such a large batch of clothes since I know people love to buy little girl clothes, but they were so cute!

Yippeee! I passed my glucose test and i am not anemic. so glad.

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

re: back pain - a little better! last week I tried to take it easy and lay on my side, and it's not nearly as bad. still acts up once in awhile but I guess it was a sign to slow down a little bit. I am going to talk to my doctor in 2 weeks at my next monthly, though, just in case it comes back (and it likely will, boo).

so much movement lately! I'm curious if LO is a beast now or if my placenta moved at all..because last I was told, it was anterior, but she's wild. I have videos of my stomach rolling around (so creepy), and she's managed to jerk my shirt out of place. DH feels her pretty regularly, too. I'm starting to get a hang of her wake/sleep patterns..and noticed that whenever I eat watermelon, she's crazy! So fun.

@MrsMccarthy: woohoo for passing!! so exciting!

@lydg: so cool! are they doing the 4d at your appointment? share pictures with us! I have a 4d for the study I mentioned, but I am almost positive they aren't doing it until 34 weeks or so..which everything online says is too late to really even see anything. I'm going to ask them about that..particularly since I have an anterior placenta, not sure how that plays in.

@joyjoy: I also picked things up if they were a steal - and i bought our crib mattress. I found an online return exersaucer at target for $20 (no music or lights, but she'll survive), and I've gotten some great deals from my area's Mom's Swap on facebook.

@sorrycharlie yes, it will be 4d. I had 4d at my 18 week sono too and we got great pics!! It took him a while to move but when he did, it was awesome! And they project it on a big flat screen which is cool. I will share pics!

@JoyJoy: I had to reschedule my 28 week appointment and my glucose test for tomorrow (I was supposed to go in Friday). I had a hard deadline on Friday that I don't think would have been met if I had left for my appointment (it was in the middle of the day).

I have started shopping, too. I am doing it a little at a time so that I am not entirely overwhelmed by all the options and sheer amount of *stuff.* I am also quickly discovering that people are so opinionated about baby gear! I overheard a conversation this weekend in which two women were discussing their recent purchases for a baby shower. *Both* women indicated that although the new mom had registered for *x* that they had gifted her *y* because they thought she didn't know better and/or they thought something else would work better. Seriously? I can understand, in addition to gifting something on the registry, gifting something off the registry that you think would be helpful, but *oy* . . .

@SorryCharlie: Glad you are feeling better and that your LO is so busy. My typically super busy butterbean was totally napping when we went in for our 4d u/s this weekend . . . her hand and a pile of umb cord was in front of her face so we couldn't get a good shot. I did a few stretches and toe touches to try to get her and the cord to shift, but instead she just rolled over and cuddled up to my back, completely obscuring her face! lol - lil stinker! So we will go back in a week and a half (at 30 weeks) to try again.

    @MrsMcCarthy: Congrats on passing!

Seems like everyone has been busy. Glad everyone is doing well. I have to go in for my glucose test next week. Hoping i get good results like the first one I took. Starting to feel her move more and more. It is hard not to shop, but when i find a bargain, I have to buy it. We have a appointment with a pediatrician on Friday. Next chore tackling the baby room and a name.

Good to see everyone is doing well, especially on the glucose test. I have mine on Thursday.

@MsLipGloss: Oh my goodness, I would be so upset if somebody did that. I finally started my registry, but everything has been researched and checked out. I am also secretly worried that someone will gift us something I absolutely hate, like a huge ugly swing that requires 12 batteries.

My shower is tentatively set for Aug 12. We don't have a location yet, but we have some options. SIL is "hosting," but I'm in charge of location, food, and coming up with the guest list. There's been talk of moving the shower to Aug 26, but I think that's way too late.

I've been garage-saling and picked up some nice things. I have a bunch of clothes, a small vibrating bouncer, a few books, and (my favorite) 6 Swaddlebees diapers that I got for $40!

Hey there ladies! How are all of you? I am 29 weeks and 2 days today and my baby boy is due in 75 days!!! that is like nada! i am so super excited.
Am i the only one having bad acid reflux since i entered the third tri? it seems like its constant now.

@mrsmccarthy i have my 30 week appt and sono on thursday! can't wait for him to be here.

my acid reflux was HORRIBLE up until a couple weeks ago when my doctor told me to start taking acid blockers. I refused to take anything (just stubborn) up until that point and it has helped times a million. I just take the Target brand 150 mg I think it is--one pill a day. There have been a couple nights where I have woken up from sleeping choking and starting vomiting because the reflux was so bad, even while sleeping propped up. Scared DH half to death!

    30 weeks

I wanted to quickly introduce myself--I am new to hellobee and have loved spending time lurking around here the last couple of days. It is such a beautiful site (the font! the illustrations!) and I have learned so much already from your questions and experiences.

This is not my first pregnancy, but I am very hopeful that this little miracle will be my first take home baby :).

Through IVF, I became pregnant but unfortunately gave birth to my twins stillborn last summer. After being told by multiple fertility doctors that a biological child was just not going to be in the cards for us, a baby (from SEX no less, ha!) growing healthy and strong inside me is proving them all wrong :).

Please add me to the pink board! She is due to arrive on 9.20.

@spaina96: yayy a name! are you sharing here when you pick one?

@MrsMccarthy: I have occasional acid reflux but not too bad yet. I've been hit with the sciatica though for sure

@lydg: ohhhh so sweet! I love! how did they figure out he was transverse to want to do the US in the first place? my LO has been transverse i think, and I only think that because i feel movement left and right, but not really in my ribs whatsoever. and she's definitely big enough to get my ribs now - 26 weeks! do the doctors feel around? I can't tell body parts apart so I totally don't understand how doctors can tell with their hands!

@peacockblue: welcome!! so sorry to hear about your twins, but a huge congratulations on your LO! i'm also due a girl on 9/25 do you have a name picked out?

not much to report here - crazy growing going on, I got big in the last week. still haven't gained a ton of weight so I'm hoping that she's just FINALLY growing!! so much movement now too - I can see her moving very easily, and I feel lots of stretching in there. so much fun. on the down side, back pain is still a nightmare, and still nauseous. but..I'm kind of used to that now, so it is what it is.

shower in 4 weeks from saturday! I'm so excited!

  25. matador84

    papaya / 10560 posts

@sorrycharlie it was just a regular u/s i had per my dr. i guess it is up to your dr. to decide what/how often you get them. i had complications at 8 weeks, so i have had one at 8, 10, 12, 18, and today-- i'll be 30 weeks tomorrow. he would measure me at each appointment, and at my 18 week sono, he was breech (lots of time to flip), and then he said at one of my regular appts (no sono) that he moved to transverse, not sure how he could tell--but he is the expert...and now he is head down and his exact words to me were "theoretically, he shouldn't move." so, i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

i kept feeling tons of movement on my right side about parallel to my bellybutton, so i guessed thats where his legs were, and i was right! she his body kind of wraps around into my lower pelvis and his head is up under my left side...which is so crazy and i rarely even (maybe only once) feel any movement there.

the sono was super fun! i think i'll get at least one more 4d before the baby gets here.

checking in: had my 28w appt today (27w6d) and all is well. I am an odd one that I don't have any problems with the taste of the glucose drink (reminds me of McDonald's orange drink which is my go-to when I don't want caffiene); I'll get the results on Monday. Everything looks great, will get an ultrasound at 36w to check baby's size and position. Go back in 3w for next appt when my OB will start doing internal checks again (yuck). Feeling tons of kicks and other movement which surprises me since I am supposed to have an anterior placenta but I'm happy to be feeling the movement. Only gained 1lb this 4wks so total gain is 12lb.

@lydg: Wow those pictures are amazing! We got a shot of the face at our last u/s and it was so cool to recognize my family's nose on the baby. Can you tell who he looks more like?

@peacockblue: Welcome and congrats on your little miracle girl! So sorry to hear about your previous loss. That must have been very difficult.

@sorrycharlie: I'd love to join the FB group. I will email you soon!

I am 28w4d have my 28 week appointment this afternoon and get the lovely one hour glucose test. I've noticed the baby's movement has changed over the past week or so. The baby was crazy before - doing flips and rolls and my belly was bouncing all over. Now I notice lighter movement and it feels like I'm getting kicked in the intestines and bladder mostly so it's hard to see or feel anything from the outside. I'm going to ask about it at my appointment today but I'm hoping everything is ok and it's just the position. At my last u/s the baby was head down but I'm pretty sure breech now based on where I'm feeling most movement. Hopefully that will change soon!

@Skirpa I have had some days where the crazy movements seem to have stopped and then all of a sudden they start up again, so I think you're right, it's just the position.

@Roccoandkirby: Thanks. I'm hoping to pass but being optimistic about the situation regardless. I started this pregnancy at the weight I was just before delivery of DD so I've got being overweight against me. Plus my identical twin sister has been treated as "prediabetic" for several years and while neither of my parents are diabetic about half of my maternal grandmother's siblings are so there is somewhat of a family history/predisposition.

@bienlivingdesign: I finally caved and bought a snoogle. at first, it was fantastic, aside from being able to use it for my head! it was so new and firm that it gave me a horrible neck and backache. so I just used it as a body pillow (along with the other assorted uses - you can curl it up to sit on, or in, etc). now it's been used enough (a little over a month..maybe 2?) that it's worn in, and I was able to sleep with my head on it the other night and it was fine the only thing is that we have a king sized bed, so it fits fine, but I'm not sure how crowded you'd be in a smaller bed!

Sorry to have been MIA the past week or so. My work schedule has been unrelenting, and I have been super tired and stressed. I am trying to keep my stress level down, but somedays (like yesterday) . . . *augh.* I wrote a post last night about feeling completely overwhelmed, not just with the pregnancy, but with trying to maintain a balance between work and pregnancy. Last night, for example, I didn't leave the office until 9:45 p.m. (I got to work at 7:30), and for the last couple of weeks, I haven't left before 8:00 p.m. I know these are pretty standard hours for my profession (attorney), and that my practice group is short-handed, but it is getting harder to deal with the long hours, and there is currently no end in sight, at least not before I am scheduled to start my maternity leave. I have been saying *no* to as much as I possibly can, but right now, there really isn't anywhere else for the work to go.

On a happier note, butterbean is still super active (even though she really likes to keep me up at night!), and I love feeling her bounce around in my belly. I am just so, so excited for her to be here - I am sure you can all relate!

I am 30 weeks tomorrow, and as of yesterday, have started counting down the days to my maternity leave. I had thought I would work until I started having contractions, but now I have decided that I am going to stop working at the end of August (August 31) so that I have a few days to relax and decompress before butterbean arrives. Including today, that is 66 days and counting! Assuming, of course, that I don't go into labor early.

Surprisingly, I passed my glucose test. I had convinced myself that I was going to fail, so I was plesantly surprised when I got the news.

@BienLivingDesign: I actually have 2 mini snoogles . . . I really do like them, and have used them in different ways (stacking them under my legs to help with swelling, and using them behind my neck and low back for extra support and to relieve pressure). I totally agree with @SorryCharlie regarding the firmness . . . I liked mine a little better after about a week of breaking in and smooshing.
