I figured since a couple people have started finding out the gender we could start discussing name ideas!

Team Blue!
Our top two boys names have been Zack and Luke for a while. I think we would just use those names as they are, not as a nickname (i.e. no Zachary or Lucas). But we are not 100% on anything yet. I really haven't done much research, those are just two names that we both threw out and happened to like.

@SweetiePie: I loooove Luke. Blake & Luke are my two boy names.
My husband hates them :(. He suggested Colin and I don't hate it, but I'm not in love the way I was when he suggested Chloe.
If it's a girl, were pretty set on Charlotte (Charley).
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Ahhh, Charlotte was on my list for a girl. But my husband didn't like it. I imagined doing a really dreamy, pretty Charlotte's Web themed nursery
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@SweetiePie: I want to do flamingos lol. The nursery is grey & I'd love to do grey, coral and gold with some blue.
I'll have to find my flamingo picture. I swear it's not as cheesy as you're thinking.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: very pretty!
We haven't really thought up names yet, but I guess we need to start boy names! It was really hard thinking up the twins names and we actually did it at the last minute at the hospital.
I'm thinking maybe Jason? My husband likes david but I said no way. Not that it's not a nice name, but david plus our very very very common last name is like john smith. I think I want to keep it in line with the other kids names, biblical names. And I did find Jason in the New Testament lol.

I love baby names. If we have a boy, we're 95% (well, I'm 100%) set on Fletcher. We are lost with girl names. Our DD's name is old fashioned and a bit unusual and it's a family name. DH said we're setting up our third child to be a wallflower because we'll be too tired to think up a name that matches the first two in rarity, especially if we get to use Fletcher.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Weagle: I love fletcher!
I'm hesitant about using another C name. It isn't on purpose and the two people we've shared Charlotte with things we did the Ch- deliberately. The truth is Chloe calls the baby "baby Charlotte" out of no where and we loved it.
So if we ever do end up having a third I feel like we have to carry on the C name and blah.
coconut / 8498 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: It's a family name! But I know what you mean about feeling like we need to carry on a naming theme. If we do use Fletcher our poor third child probably will get whatever is left over that we kind of like. We don't have a pool of great family names to pull from
nectarine / 2932 posts
@Weagle: I like fletcher a lot! I haven't heard that name in awhile!
@SweetiePie: Loveeeeee Luke and Zach. My brother was almost a Zach.

We're having a hard time with boy names. He LOVES Wyatt (like won't even consider anything else) and I don't. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. He also likes Grant - which I love, but he likes Wyatt more so he basically poo poos on Grant. I also love Hunter, Patrick, and Joel.
Girl name is basically set - Audrey. We both love it. I'm still open to looking at other names, but so far we both really like it. My husband is SO picky about names...it annoys the crap out of me! I also like Jillian, Willow, Autumn, Gemma and Noelle...but he isn't a fan of any of those. Also, our last name is a type of plant so Willow and Autumn would both sound too 'hippy-ish'.

I"m lurking on this thread, but not sharing - we already have two boy names and two girl names we are completely set on! We're going to wait to share until Sept

@tequiero21: Love Biblical names! I guess Luke is Biblical, that didn't even occur to me till now. My sister has 2 boys that have really biblical names and I just think its awesome!
I always loved Jacob, even before it became popular in recent years. But now not only is it really popular, but our good friends have a dog named Jake so...it just seems weird, haha.
coconut / 8498 posts
@SweetiePie: We probably would, but probably only if it happens naturally. Like, we'll probably call him that, but introduce him as Fletcher. He wouldn't have an official nickname. If that makes sense.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@SweetiePie: me too, but because bible is so old, names are pretty popular lol. Like Joshua, Isaac, Jacob. I like Luke, but my nephew is Lucas. I've been seeing lots of Ezras lately. When I was young, there were lots of Elijahs too.
I also like mark, Stephen and Silas, but hubby doesn't like them. He keeps saying Silas sounds like heroes, which, btw is not Silas. Was like sylar or something, can't remember.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@tequiero21: Haha, yeah, I think it was Sylar (its been so long since I've seen that show). But I guess I can see the similarity.
I like Joshua but my ex is Joshua and I think that there is a rule somewhere about naming your children after your exes, haha. Oh, and its my BIL's name too! Also love Isaac (its on my list) but not sure my husband will get behind it.

Maybe what we'll do is pick 3 or so names that we like and see what we think fits him best when we meet him!
Its still wild to me that I can now definitively say 'him'. It does make it way more real

DH and I have had first names for a boy and a girl set since before we were married. I want to wait to see what we're having first before sharing the names though. We already have official nicknames for what we'd call them too, but we still have to pick middle names and a Korean name (and decide whether to put the Korean name in the legal name or not!)
nectarine / 2180 posts
DH and I have waaaay different tastes in names. With our first, I loved Stella and he wanted Victoria or Athena. We were discussing our naming differences with some friends last week and he said, "Stella just sounds like an old lady's name." Ummm, newsflash, buddy, we gave DD an old lady's name! So yes, DD has a rather old-fashioned name that's not in the top 1000 and I think I would like to give this LO a name that's similarly uncommon. I have many more thought's on this topic!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@SweetiePie: I've heard many stories where they totally picked a name, but looking at the baby, the name didn't fit, so they had to use either their runner up or a completely different name lol.
@gingerbebe: I never understood having a middle name. U never use it. Unless the first name is just a tradition and they go by the middle names, I guess. So I gave my kids their Korean names as middle names.
@Pancakes: yeah, my hubby and I had very different ideas of nice names, so that's why we decided biblical, cuz I didn't mind biblical, and he is not a fan of newer names.

Our girl's name is Violet and our boy's is Eli.
Backup names are Elodie, Marceline and Finn
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@tequiero21: I never had a middle name growing up - my Korean name was my first name - and I never cared until I got older and there were things (like internal work systems) that went off 3 letter monograms. I had an "X" assigned to me by the computer as a middle initial to fill the gap and that annoyed me. When I got married, I made my maiden name my middle name, so that made things easier and I think my legal documents, like my diplomas, look better with a middle initial/name.
Obviously, with my kids, their Korean names can be their middle name, which solves that issue. However, I think we're going with middle names because we have some relatives we might want to honor and because coming up with names is fun! Korean names are tougher because you want them to sound good in Korean, still be easily pronounced in English, and don't look terrible spelled out.

@Weagle: Fletcher is an awesome name! It has a similar feel to my DS's name. If we ever have another boy, I'm going to keep it in mind.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: oh my gosh, that is super adorable about how Chloe called your baby Charlotte out of nowhere. If you guys like the name, I say use it -- who cares about the Ch- similarity! That story would be too cute to share over the years. A similar thing happened -- my mom's older brother kept praying for a little sister named Karen and when my grandmother got pregnant and they had a girl, they just had to name her Karen because of his prayers.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Weagle: I think Fletcher is adorable. Especially because I hear a little kid say it in my head and it sounds like "Fwetcher." So cutes.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: I never had a middle name and I was fine with that. Added my Korean name as my middle when I changed my name after getting married.... Only cuz my name is soooooo common with my common last name. Yeah, I hear u about the name, sounding nice in Korean, having good meaning, while also looking nice in English. Yeah, virtually impossible lol. I like my daughters name. Not crazy about my sons, definitely doesn't look good in English, but I hear that his name and my daughters name go hand in hand in the bible, so I do like the significance. Literally every Korean church going person commented on how nice the names were. Now, we shall see about the third kid lol.

@weagle: I love Fletcher, too! My fave name for a boy is Hugh Alexander, but DH has said no way to that one He is a Jr so he wants a III.

We didn't give DS a middle name, or rather, he has his first name, then my husband's surname is his middle name, and my surname is his legal surname. So the only non-surname name DS has is his first name.
There are some lovely names mentioned here, I'm impressed so many of you already have names in mind! Personally, I have no idea yet, but DH and I have very very different tastes so it will probably takes us at least 6 months to agree.
coconut / 8498 posts
@Pancakes: I love Hugh! But I understand his POV too.
@London Mama: Oh, I have ideas, but that in no way means we are close to agreement. DH refuses to give a final opinion or seriously talk about it until at least 36 weeks. He doesn't want to change his mind. If we had not waited until that late with LO, she would have a very different name that neither of us like as much.

I got a "hmm... Not BAD" on Jared. Even after I admitted that we'd be naming our kid after Jared Leto.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Haha, I always think of the Subway guy when I hear Jared. Or the jewelry store where the jingle is like "IT CAN ONLY BE JAAARRRED!"
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: ughhh now that's all I'll think Bout! CRAP.
I'm still team Blake. He hates that name so much though. WAH!
Hopefully we have a girl

I am a lurker on this thread since I am somewhat keeping mine a secret - and I am not sure DH is fully on board anyway.
@mrs. jump rope I love Charlotte! And I think somewhat matching names can be cute (my brother and I are both S's - not sure if that was on purpose?)
@gingnerbebe now the Jareeddddd song is in my head hahaha
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: hahaha it's okay! I would feel kinda bad admitting my kid was named after Jared Leto anyway!
@psw27: we DO like Charlotte. Though I randomly threw out Mila today and we like that...
